She's not altogether a very tall person, as she only stands at five-foot-six, which is pretty average. Her arms and legs appear long and thin, accentuated by her agile fingers; each tipped with well cared for nails, rarely disturbed by dirt of any kind. On her right wrist there (what appears to be) a silver watch - except it isn't a watch, it's a small locket with a picture of her parents inside. When nervous, it is quite common for Eri to start playing with this object. Often she caresses it for reassurance, and when alone, she might even open it and take a gander at her stern-faced parental units. Eri's arms attach to boring shoulders, which then connect to a lackluster torso (with only the faintest trace of femininity, you'd think she was really a twelve year old boy! And at her age, oh dear). Maybe the poor girl is experiencing a delayed puberty? Whatever the case, she is petite and flat, with square hips to line up with those boring, square shoulders. Most of the time she slouches, but only because slouching has become a bad habit - days and days of scouring books, of squinting at tiny text about nothing that really matters. But, back to the point. Eri's got a nice set of legs on her, which is refreshing (considering how lackluster the rest of her is); with just enough meat and muscle on her narrow hips to give her some semblance of maturity. After that, well, her feet are just boring and pointless. But her face! Okay, that's still not a great selling point, but, she has her moments. A cupid's bow of a mouth - fine lipped, although not very pleasant to look at, with her lack of smiling - a small nose, and a set of amber-brown eyes. All of this, overshadowed by the great wall of black hair that she often hides behind. The most recent change occurred when her mother cut off a large chunk of it - right at the front, producing some hard-edged bangs across her forehead. She was just adamant that Eri show off her lovely little face, with it's high cheekbones and sharp jawline; except the girl only retreated in to her room, so good luck seeing that. As for clothing, well. Her family is well-off, and they still have quite a modest amount of money, so she is usually dressed in whatever is fashionable. Nothing too racy, expensive, or out-of-this-world; a school uniform, maybe a simple dress. Nothing patterned though - it isn't her style (what style). Simple skirts, tank-tops with a bit of lace, a vest or two with a bit too much argyle, that's all there is to her wardrobe. Overall, Eri is exceptionally unexceptional in the visual department; a giant ball of average wrapped up in a nice bow of lackluster. History: Eri's grandfather was a notable Pokémon breeder from Kanto, who earned a stalwart reputation as the trainer of numerous canine-type Pokémon. He passed down his fortune and talent through his first-born son Shou, and in his old age became a fishing aficionado. Eri's father, therefore, inherited the family business and strived to live up to the family ideal; ever the perfectionist, it was heartbreaking for him when he lost the business to a rival breeder. Eri grew up alongside a grim father, a bitter grandfather, and her dear mother - Natsumi, a young woman who had the tenacity to become a formidable trainer, had she the money and opportunity. When Shou lost the business, the shame that came with it helped to destroy Natsumi's reputation as well. It didn't really help that their first-born child (and, by chance, their only child) was a girl. Shou had plans to pass down his life's work to his son, the way his own father had; ever since her birth, the girl's father has been distant. As a result, Eri has worked to prove herself to him. When she was eight years old, the family moved out of Kanto and in to the Cheyenne region, eager to start again - but they towed their emotional baggage along with them. Life within the Izanagi family was tense, strict, and really quiet for the majority of the time. Save for the days where passive-aggressive arguments became heated, or when Eri's grandfather returned from the local bar, drunk to the point of incomprehension. It was a quiet life, and for the most part, Eri flourished. She stuck to herself and (essentially) grew up independent. Isolated, yet free at the same time. While she was not kept away from Pokémon on purpose, her own awkwardness (as well as her parent's attitudes at the mention of the creatures) kept her curiosity stunted. Interactions with Pokemon: Limited. She has a few memories of newborn Growlithe puppies, and can recall various incidents involving a resident Houndour, from when she was a child. Eri is not afraid of Pokemon, but she is wary of them. She thinks they are beautiful creatures, but at the same time the girl doesn't really know what to do with them. If a Pokemon exhibited any erratic behaviour she would probably be weirded out, to the point where she'd try to run away - but, if a Pokemon showcased an obvious sentience, that would indeed pique her interest. Eri might even try to study such a creature. Personality:
Goals in Cheyenne: To become a skilled Pokémon trainer like her parents, in order to regain their lost honor - and prove, by way of proxy, that her father can be happy with her, even if she isn't a boy. [/style] |
