Name: Michelle "Chelle" Abel
Gender: Female
Date of birth: March 19th [21]
Hometown: Snowpoint City
Appearance:
Chelle keeps herself natural, not wishing to bother with makeup or fancy hardware every single morning. That stuff's heavy. Instead, she lets her hair flow naturally to her elbows- dark brown, nearly black, which succumbs to waves as it nears the tips. She had blunt bangs that reach just over her eyebrows, which she keeps in order to hide her constantly breaking out forehead and thick eyebrows. Moving downward, she had narrow deep brown eyes, which are usually narrowed even more to show her skepticism. She had a petite nose which points downward with a large mole on the left side, and a large mouth where the top lip is significantly thinner than the bottom one, making her look as if she is eternally pouting.
Moving away from her face, Chelle is rather tall at about 5' 9" with rather lanky limbs and a skinny frame. With the amount of time she spends outside she is rather tan, but believe her when she says it was a very painful process- she always burns first, and horribly. She dresses depending on the weather- a light jacket and jeans for when it's cooler, but when it gets hot she's going down to her bathing suit. She does not like to get sweaty.
History:
She didn't remember much of her early childhood. It was all so bland; children's books, finger paints, frilly dresses and stuffed pokemon. She didn't care much for those things even as a young child. Her mother was thankful for this, of course, Chelle was the oldest of all her siblings, and having had triplets three years after Chelle was born her hands were constantly full. The little girl didn't mind that her mother rarely paid her attention, she was more than happy to get all the attention she could ever want from her daddy. Daddy was a genius, at least in little Chelle's eyes. She would sit with him in his study for hours, asking him to pleeeease read his books aloud. He would- reading aloud is better for the mind to remember things- and so she would sit and listen, fascinated by Sinnoh's natural history, ancient explorations to find new land and pokemon, the discovery of HMs and TMs, it was all so cool!
Of course, no normal child would find boring textbooks interesting, and Chelle was a perfectly normal child. Her daddy embellished the stories quite a bit.
She grew up loving books and stories, when she was old enough to read her father moved her from his textbooks into the world of fantasy, sci-fi, action and adventure! With every book he read he reminded her, "Never forget the separation of reality and imagination, and never let that separation get in the way of your life and dreams." Weird advice, but she took it without questioning. Her daddy was a genius, after all.
She grew older as children do, and as she moved out of fiction into the world of facts and history, she went back to reread the old books her father had read to her. The man still spent most of his time in his study, reading books and writing papers. She never did find out what exactly he was doing. She was too busy listening to her heart shatter as she realized the history she knew so well and loved so much was all a lie.
She was betrayed. Her confidence shattered. Who in their right mind would grow up continuing to believe explorers immediately befriended the Abomasnow in the mountains? What smart person would honestly believe HM Surf was invented by Eevee riding on surf boards? It was all so ridiculous. Just absolutely ridiculous. She couldn't deal with herself anymore.
Her home was a lie. Her entire self worth was built on a lie. Her father had lied to her. She was seventeen years old when she finally exploded. Her reaction broke her mother and daddy's heart, her siblings, now fourteen, tried in vain to persuade her not to leave. She didn't listen to any of them. She left with a backpack and a small number of clothing, along with some bread her mother managed to sneak into her backpack.
She traveled all over, picking up odd jobs and sleeping in libraries, an open book serving as her pillow where she left off before she couldn't fight sleep any longer. She was going to learn about the world first hand, her father's advice about imagination? Worthless. Imagination is what left her ignorant. She had to do things herself.
It was three years later that she began to feel regret. Until then her fuel was a blind fury for the betrayal she felt. She was twenty, now, and she missed her family. She wanted nothing more than to apologize. But after the things she had said to them... They wouldn't want her back.
She had to prove her worth to them. It was time to explore something not in her daddy's books, to discover land and teach him about it- the truth, to help in his research. Er... Whatever he was researching.
Chelle embarked on her journey to Cheyenne, accompanied only by the clothes on her back. She would make it.
Interactions with Pokemon:
Unfortunately, aside from reading about pokemon and the occasional conversation with a trainer, Chelle has absolutely no pokemon experience. None. However, she has convinced herself that by doing research she will already be a great pokemon master.
Personality:
Book SmartChelle reads and reads and reads, but her version of real-life experience is far different from what experience actually is. This leads her to be big-headed in subjects she knows nothing about, and she often finds herself in trouble because of it.
Hot HeadedIf you piss her off, prepare for the backlash. Once she becomes angry, everything becomes word vomit. She will attack on the personal level, she will attack your family, she will attack your pokemon. She does not care.
Open-MindedAs long as you don't piss her off, Chelle will keep you in her good books, no matter your past or present. She believes that everybody has a good side to them.
Goals in Cheyenne:
Chelle is entering Cheyenne with the idea that she will write and publish research on the region, its culture and its pokemon. She believes she will be able to do this by simply getting a pokemon and going on her merry way, but she is going to discover that life in a strange place isn't as easy as she thinks. She is going to find that either she isn't cut out for this, or that it's exactly what she's been looking for.
