Name (Nicknames?): Shane Rhodes Gender: Male Date of birth [Age]: September 12th [16]
Appearance: Shane is a pretty decent looking guy. Granted he isn't Lance or Falkner, but he's definitely not a Magikarp, you know what I'm saying? Average; 5'5" and 136 to 141lbs, he tends to skip meals and save food rather than waste it in a binge. Shane's slightly on the paler side of things, and his shockingly - unnatural - bright blonde hair doesn't help. He plans to gain a few shades of darker on this journey, because where there's dark and edgy forests, there will also be open paths, fields and any other means of road. Shane also has these eyes, which are probably his only 'attractive' feature. They're a deep brown color, chestnut-y or chocolate-y depending on where he stands and how the light it. They're very pretty. They totally lighten his general appreance. More times than none, his normal travelling outfit consists of some sort of acid-washed skinny jeans (normally within the light cyan blue to dark denim colors) with bright yellow suspenders hanging around his knees, some sort of button up shirt ranging in all sorts of colors (which to be rather truthful is his only 'edgy' perk) and when it gets cold or wet, he wears a simple black jacket, and a beanie to keep his blonde hair dry. When those clothes are dirty or he feels like changing it up, you can find him in a pair of green and black pajama pants and a black tank. As mentioned previously, Shane is definitely an average, run-of-the-mill looking guy.
History: Shane has had a very mediocre life. His parents were average civilians living in Celadon City; his father - once a travelling Pokemon Trainer - now worked out of town at the fishing docks between Lavendar Town, and his mother was an attendant in the department mall. She didn't have any previous Pokemon experience due to her own personal reasons. So with that, Shane was on his own most of the time. His grandmother (his dad's mom) would try and visit him when he called her, but other then those rare times - his Grandmother lived all the way on Cinnnabar Island - Shane was basically living on his own. He went to school and received amazing grades, and made a few friends with the other boys in his class. Once he turned ten, instead of going out on his adventure, Shane held it off for another year, and went back to school. Shane was often picked on because of his hair and his skinny, minnow-like stature. He refused to let it change him though, and he pushed through his schooling and the bullies as best as he could. Soon, his twelfth birthday rolled by, and he knew that now was the time to get started on his Pokemon Journey. With an additional two years of schooling under his belt, Shane bid his hard working father and mother good bye, and headed for Pallet Town. Upon arriving, he was gifted his Charmander. This Pokemon was lazy and hard to control; Shane wasn't going to back down from the challenge, but with what he had dealt with most of his life, he didn't want to be just another trainer. He was able to get his first Kanto gym badge before he returned to Oak and abandoned the Charmander into Oak's care.
Shane returned home with his single badge and got a job working with his father on the docks; he caught Magikarp and troublesome Goldeen, and released them into different parts of the ocean where they wouldn't bother the rest of the population. During this time, Shane slipped into a odd sort of plateau. He wasn't happy with where he was in his life, but he wasn't going to back to school and become something he didn't want to be. He knew in his heart he wanted to be a trainer. So, the following year he finished his work with his father and began planning to make his sixteenth birthday the day he returned to the playing field. Shane got everything ready, planned nearly everything out.. until there came the news of a Region he had never heard of before. Curious, he balked on his plans of becoming a Kanto master, and shipped over to Cheyenne, where he's also transferred his long time goal over to. Now without his parent being within travelling distance, Shane has finally found the gall to man up and move on with his life.
Interactions with Pokemon: Other than the Charmander he received when he was fourteen years old, Shane's interaction with Pokemon is very limited. He received a lazy and disobient Pokemon at the beginning of his Kanto journey, which made the whole experience unbearable for the young man, and promptly returned him to Professor Oak before returning home. He worked mainly with water types after that, as he worked on a dock separating vicious temperamental Goldeen and lazy Magikarp's from clogging the systems and overpopulating the little area, and once in a while got to play with the Poliwags that liked to slap his dangling feel with their tails. Since abandoning his first starter Pokemon at Oak's lab, Shane has never had a Pokemon to call his own since.
Personality:
- Impaitent
Working on a fast-paced dock for about a year seriously changed Shane. He used to just go with the flow and all that jazz, but since working on the dock, he's been forced into a mindset where everything has to go a specific speed and a specific way. Shane becomes impatient quite easily when things backfire, dont work or generally take too long to do.
- Determined
As a child Shane grew up knowing he had something to look forward to, and that was his journey. He has a mindset that easily gets him to where he has to be, and he can stay in that mindset as well. Shane often calls this 'tunnel vision' because when he set's his mind to something, he will do whatever he can to get it done/get it in his possession. He doesn't take defeat easily, either.
- Solo Player
Being on his own for the majority of his life - the friends he made in school he's no longer in contact with, his parents are too busy working ect - Shane is very much a solo player, often resulting in people believing he's selfish and conceited. Shane doesn't care what they think of him as long as they stay out of his way.
Goals in Cheyenne: * Return to his previous personality set. Shane used to be a rather fun guy and was a blast to hang out with, but since receiving that Charmander it has seriously soured his very being. To learn how to play and not care about things as trivial as winning each and every battle is going to be on top of the list.
* Become a household name. Shane Rhodes wants to be known at least by everyone - or as close to everyone - in Cheyenne Region. How he's going to do that will be a challenge, but once he figures out a fool-proof plan or something along those lines, Shane will follow that plan to the ends of the world.
