Appearance: Siibuna is an agile female of approximately five feet and seven inches. Having taken karate and tae-kwon-do throughout her childhood, her pale skin hides the 158 pounds of sinewy muscle that formed from all the hours of training. Wide ocean blue eyes shaped into near half moons peer out behind thick rimmed glasses that rest on her button nose. Sprinkled over her milky complexion is a faint number of freckles, insinuating she was much more sun-friendly as a child than her current self. Framing her high cheekbones and a narrow jaw are long tendrils of sun-bleached blonde hair that drops in faint waves to her thighs. This "veil" of hair adds to the vulnerable physique of the young woman, and a pair of scarred nimble hands denote that she is an artist who bears no fear of getting her hands dirty.
History: Sii is a quiet, controlled, and calculating creature. From the time she was born, until now, she has always upheld this demeanor. It comes with being born just outside of Lavender Town's Pokemon Tower.
Her mother died on a family pilgrimage, giving birth to Siibuna while mourning the loss of the family Pokemon, Rouia, a Poochyena. Siibuna's father was never the same after that, dedicating all his time to the Pokemon Tower and its patrons needs. Because of this lack of parenting, the young Siibuna grew up as a self-sufficient "latch-key kid".
In an attempt to further isolate himself from Siibuna, and to keep her under supervision, her father enrolled her in karate at five years of age. This prevented her from acting on her habit of helping dying Pokemon, and from wandering into Rock Tunnel or routes 8 and 12. She, being near mute for the whole of her life at this point, took to direction with ease. In no time, the child absorbed the knowledge from school and karate. But, her need for knowledge and interaction was still left wanting.
And so at the broach of ten years she graduated her Karate class. It was then she had to make a choice on what to do next. Siibuna decided it best that she volunteer to split her spare time. With this choice, she spent her after-school time balancing between Tae Kwon Do training and helping the Pokemon who were dead or dying once again. This act of kindness extended to the patrons who came to the Pokemon Tower to mourn, tending to their needs and offering to pray with them.
It was four years of careful evasion that kept her father from finding out, but eventually all good things must come to an end. At fifteen and a half years of age, Siibuna was cleaning the topmost level of gravestones when she came upon what would become her best and only friend. An abandoned egg lay next to a gravestone she'd never seen before. The gravestone's epitaph had been worn away by time, but one word could barely be read: unworthy.
Siibuna made a mental note of the word that day, and took the egg for herself. Forgoing all manner of discretion, she rushed home and locked herself in her room to inspect the egg on a more personal level. Upon a more intimate inspection, she saw that the egg was damaged, its scaly tan and black shell dented on one side.
She almost gave up on the egg then, disappointed that she couldn't help a Pokemon live for once. But, the egg shook softly in her arms, and with that singular motion, she devoted her time to the egg. It was this deviation from her normal routine that led her Father to find out about her secret dealings with the Pokemon Tower. A local merchant saw Siibuna running home from the Tower that day, and mentioned it to her father.Siibuna desperately tried to explain her side of the story, but to no avail. Her father disowned her at the age of 14, and forced her to leave Lavender Town.
And she did. With nothing more than the pack on her back, and the egg in her arms, she trekked all over the Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, Sinnoh and Unova regions. It took more than a month of walking and tending to the egg night and day for it to finally hatch, but when it did, Siibuna's world changed. The tiny Pokemon had turned out to be a Sandile, a Pokemon unheard of in her home region. It was a different looking Sandile, compared to the pictures Siibuna had seen. Her Sandile was more petite and lanky, perhaps due to the damage to the egg. The most striking feature of the Pokemon, though, was its eyes. One eye had clearly been injured when the egg was damaged, and it had not developed enough to open.
Despite these abnormalities the Pokemon was healthy and took a shine to Siibuna immediately. It was another couple of days before she figured out the gender of the Pokemon, and a few more after that before she picked a name. On that day, the duo became Siibuna and Sobek. For nearly four years they traveled the regions until arriving in Cheyenne, trading their mortuary craft, medical skills and artisan skills for food and necessities. It was the unique aspects of Cheyenne that sparked Siibuna's interest in becoming a trainer, and this is where her adventure begins.
Interactions with Pokemon: Siibuna has been around Pokemon her whole life, as a byproduct of her birthplace. Death was an unfortunate companion to these Pokemon, but nonetheless she learned quickly about each one. This intimate relationship with the kingdom of Pokemon forced Siibuna to adapt to Pokespeech very quickly. Because she was around Pokemon more than her human counterparts, sometimes Siibuna's conversations can be diverted to fragments of Pokespeech if she's distressed or angry.
She had always wanted a Pokemon of her own, from the time she was first introduced to one, but her father forbade it. With this in mind, and watching Pokemon all around her die from various ailments, it was hard for Siibuna to grow socially. Each time she attached herself emotionally to a Pokemon, it was one that passed on quickly. This caused Siibuna's major detached persona, helping her cope with the vast amounts of mortality around her.
Upon her eviction from Lavender Town, Siibuna encountered many active and lively Pokemon, but never attached the way she did with her Sobek. It excited her to be able to offer passing trainers help with their fatigued and damaged Pokemon, and Sobek enjoyed being able to ward off most wild Pokemon with his Intimidate ability.
Personality:
- Aloof
Siibuna consciously chooses to remain detached from many problems around her. This helps her remain unbiased and level-headed in times of medical emergencies and in times of severe stress.- Compassionate
On the same note, her apathetic nature does not always win out. Despite her pulling away from attachment, she will pour all of her effort into helping those she's chosen to care for. That being said, she cannot say no to any Pokemon in need.- Flexible
In tandem with her other dominant personality traits, Siibuna displays a vivid amount of flexibility in any situation. She can and will often sacrifice her original plan if it isn't as urgent as a problem placed in front of her. She does not like to adhere strictly to a schedule, and as such, she's gained somewhat of a reputation for being a nomad.
Siibuna as a whole, is a solitary being. Unless she observes a situation where her skills can be of service, she generally keeps to herself and her Sandile, Sobek. This characteristic has earned her a reputation of being called the "Wandering Healer". Maintaining her friendship with her only Pokemon is her main concern, often skipping her own meals in order to feed the stunted Sandile. She is only ever seen being cheery with her Pokemon, returning instantaneously to her docile and melancholy nature with anyone else. This reaction is suspended when she is caring for Pokemon or trainers/owners who are in mourning. Faint bouts of excitement get the best of her whenever she gets new reading material or has the ability to spoil her Pokemon with food or items.
Pre-starter information: Sobek, Siibuna's Sandile, is quite the Pokemon. Even with his size variable and his handicapped eye, he's of a Jolly nature. Being a Croc Pokemon, he is cold blooded and thus stays close to Siibuna's body, mooching off of her heat to stay comfortable. Because of this behavior, he is often found wrapped around her neck, tucked between the heavy falls of her hair. With him being out of a Pokeball at all times, and around humans so much, Sobek has faintly picked up a few phrases in the human language: "stay a while", "hand", "Anu" and "help". These words have earned him a bit of fame, as very few Pokemon have the vocal ability to learn human speech.
Sobek is very attached to Siibuna, rarely leaving his perch on her shoulders. He pays attention to every word she says, careful to analyze on whether or not he can help his owner in her travels. Oftentimes when she needs a specific herb or berry, he will wander into the wild in search of it, or carrying a note with him and some PD to purchase it if they're in town. When he was a young Pokemon, Siibuna taught him to do a few tricks in order to earn some PD for their travels. He is loyal to Siibuna until death, and even sleeps in the hammock tent with her, nuzzling close for warmth.
Goals in Cheyenne: Cheyenne is the only unconquered region for Siibuna to date. She has never had any goals other than to wander and learn up until now. At the current crossroads of her life, Siibuna is interested in learning to train Pokemon, that way she can have able-bodied friends to help her in her trek across the world, and to support her nomadic title of the "Wandering Healer". Breeding has also taken her fancy, but she does not plan to act on that wish until much later in life.
