Kahlia and Carrie walked into the gym, while Aero made his usual appearence by flying. When all three were inside, and the door had shut, Aero perched himself on Kahlia's shoulder.
Kahlia looked around, not seeing anyone at first, and said loud enough for an echo to copy her, "Hello? I'm looking for the gym leader."
Kahlia continued to look around, waiting for an answer or the sight of a person. The nurse at the pokemon center had said it was a new gym leader, so Kahlia hoped that the gym leader didn't have much experience yet, and that she could win with ease - but she knew this was a ridiculous thought.

It was a new gym leader indeed and she was quite excited for her first gym battle as a leader of this Gym. Adrian had been lurking behind the scenes waiting for the right moment to pounce. A snarl erupted from her throat as she spotted the new trainer. With a flock of her wrist, the gym was plunged into the dark.
A spotlight flashed on, it's solitary beam illuminating the blackness, a tall lady posed in the beam. "You found her." she said, finally speaking before strutting down the path to greet Kahlia. Had her entrance been too much? Adrian was unsure, but she wanted to make a grand impression so with a small smile alit on her face, she spoke once more.
"I'm Adrian. Shall we let the battle commence?" she questioned, before stepping away. The lights flashed on, blinding after the dark. Adrian was on the other side of a rocky battlefield. A referee stood at the side, ready to start the battle. Adria let out her duo. Cat and Rat.
The Meowth and Rattata stood ready.
"The Challenger may begin when ready." the referee announced, before stepping back onto his small podium.

Kahlia looked around blindly for the split second the lights went out, then saw the gym leader. When Adrian called out her two pokemon, Kahlia instantly realized that this was a double battle. Since Aero and Carrie were already out, she had them to take their place on the field.
"Aero, Carrie, both of you growl!" Kahlia was one to have her pokemon use attack move more often, but she wanted her pokemon to get the best advantages and experience out of thier first gym battle as possible, so she wanted their stats to be raised to their advantage, so their attack move would be more useful.
Carrie and Aero both growled, getting pumped up to battle to their max. They weren't used to battling together much, so this was sort of a trial. Though they didn't have experience battling as a team, they were actually working together quite well, so far at least.

As the Challenger released her very own two Pokemon, Adrian was already ready to make the first attack. Kahlia couldn’t even have a say in it, due to Cat’s great speed. She pointed an accusing finger at Carrie, a perfect target in order to heat this battle up. ”Stop that Growl with your Fake Out!” She ordered, hopefully startling the newbie trainer. One had to be quick in these battles. They had to be ready for anything, even while they were making orders. She sneered at the challenger with a high-up attitude, a hand on her hip as she tossed her hair to the side.
Cat had made his way right up in front of the Torchic with a smile only a mischievous cat could have, and struck at the Torchic before the Growl could be emitted. That was the speed of the Fake Out attack. It was certainly enough to cause a Flinch condition.
”Prepare yourself, Rat, with your Focus Energy.” Adrian added with a thoughtful gaze towards her Rattata. She hadn’t been quite sure of the best way to start a battle, once both of her Pokémon had their attack stat lowered by the Spearow. Hopefully improved focus and precision could help Rat step it up a bit. The Rattata had nodded, boosting his critical hit rate with a constant focus on his two opponents. For now, he’d take on the Spearow. Adrian had already planned on having him fight the bird, and ordered the next attack.
”Tackle it.” She ordered once again, watching Rat’s semi-decent speed as he ran across the field. His legs working their magic as he charged towards a feathered version of himself, eager to teach this bird a lesson.

"Dodge --" Kahlia tried to warn Carrie, but it was too late. Carrie was struck hard with a fake out attack from the cat pokemon, and she fell to her side. "Come on, Carrie, you can do this!" Carrie struggled to get back on her feet, and though she was successful, she felt paralyzed, for she couldn't move. "Carrie, growl one more time!" Kahlia instructed. Carrie was ashamed of herself for letting down her guard, and she was determined not to let it happen again. Though she couldn't move, she darted her eyes towards the cat pokemon and growled as best she could, though it was quite low, for it was a forced growl.
Meanwhile, the stubborn Spearow was holding his own, as he flew out of the way from the Rattata's tackle. He waited for a command while making sure he dodged any attacks, though it might wear him out quicker than just battling.
"Aero, fury attack, but don't lose concentration!" Kahlia almost yelled at her Spearow, making sure he could hear her properly. Aero sped down towards the rat pokemon and jabbed his beak at the Rattata each time he did so. He was quick, and his stubborness worked to his advantage, for he was a fighter, and he wouldn't give up until he fainted.

Cat flinched at the sound of the Growl attack, snapping his eyes shut at the loud, annoying sound. He shuddered, not enjoying this feeling of being caught off guard. His attack had been lowered for the time being. It was something that being back in the Pokeball could quickly fix, but however, Gym Leader’s Pokemon were not allowed to make any substitutions. He was well aware of that. Biting his lower lip too pace himself, he looked back at Adrian for instructions.
”Bite it, as if it was your prey!” She smiled, finding it amusing how both of her opponents were birds. Both could easily be a quick snack for Cat. There was some kind of appeal of seeing two completely different species in the wild getting along together in battles like these. Cat and Rat had been trained to work together. They knew each other well enough not to bicker and get in the other’s way. Cat had reacted to the order with a quick hiss, flexing his claws into the air as he sprung at the Torchic. A quick nip on the side was quite good enough for him, as long as he could get away before the Torchic could give him a nasty peck.
The Spearow, nicknamed “Aero” had already started coming at Rat with all of his might with that simple Fury Attack. Interesting. ’It’s time to see if that Focus Energy pays off.’ She mused, eyeing Rat’s focused stare with calculating eyes. Even as he dodged, he was always watching…waiting…It was in his nature to do so. The Fury Attack had crept up on him from behind, and leaping away with his long tail narrowly missing a mighty jab, he whirled around with his fangs bared. The action was too quick for Adrian to even let her voice be heard, Rat had started Biting whenever the Spearow dropped his guard from the Fury Attack. He had been pecked quite painfully on the side of his head. Three times, before getting in the swing of the battle. He was ready to win.

After Carrie's growl was successful, Kahlia instructed her Torchic to use agility. She figured the only way to win this battle was to have her pokemon's stats raised, and their opponent's stats lowered. Carrie ran as fast as she could, and started trying to taunt the Rattata by treading large circles around him. Carrie felt her energy peak and she was ready for anything, and she was fast enough now to avoid an attack long enough to get in a good one.
Aero was proud of himself for successfully striking the cat pokemon. He was able to dodge most of the bites, but the cat sunk his teeth into him twice, and this hurt Aero, once being on his right wing. Though he almost fell due to the throbbing pain in his wing, he barely managed to stay aflight. When he flew back up, finished with his attack, Kahlia saw this as her chance to have Aero lower his opponent’s stats.
“Aero, use leer on the cat, but don‘t get too close!” Kahlia darted her eyes back and forth between her two pokemon, making sure they were steady in the battle. Aero remained idle where he was in the air, and obeyed Kahlia. His eyes focused on the Cat’s, and they started glowing a bright, almost neon, green, unusual for a Spearow’s Leer, for they usually just looked like a natural light during Leer. Kahlia’s eyes widened with shock as she saw the color of her Spearow’s eyes, but she didn’t let down her guard. It was up to her to make sure her pokemon won this battle, and she was determined to do so.

Cat looked at the Spearow, angery as what not. Adrian looked at her, grinning slightly. "Cat, use bite, Rat use Quick Attack" She said cooly. The Meowth hissed before running, fangs glittering, ready to bite the Torchic. The Rattata looked at Cat before running as fast as he could, ready to quickly attack the Spearow. Adrian grinned slightly as the two ran. "I wonder if she can win my badge without making any pokemon faint." She thought to herself.

Kahlia quickly announced what to do to her pokemon. She was, by all means, a fast learner, and she had already learned that she had to be quicker than Adrian and her pokemon.
"Aero, Carrie, dodge the attacks! Aero, follow up with Peck, and Carrie, you follow up with Scratch!" Kahlia shouted in a hurried manner. She felt as if though she was getting the lead in this battle, and she sure hoped so. All she could do, though, was wait to see, and this was making her anxious.
Aero flew upward, narrowly escaping the quick attack from Rat. He then sharply turned himself and flew down again, aiming his beak right for the Rattata's back. Spearow! Aero was getting quite excited, for he loved to battle. Except for when Kahlia caught him, he hadn't lost a battle yet.
Carrie jumped to the side to miss the bite, but a tooth snaggled her wing. Tor! Carrie grew angry and turned quickly on her tiny feet, then jumped just high enough to be above Cat's head, and furiously clawed at him. She wanted to please her trainer, and she would stop at nothing to defeat this pokemon, and help Kahlia earn her badge.

Rat squealed as the Peck hit him hard on the back. It was just too much for the poor thing and he fainted. Meanwhile Cat, being stratched, fell and turned around to quickly attack the stupied Torchic! Adrian was still grinning, like allways, quite confindent that she would win. The eletricaty was crackleing like mad, as though they were excited about this battle. "Cat! Take it down with Fake Out!" She shouted. Cat growled then ran to the Torchic, ready to use Fake Out.

"Alright!" Kahlia screamed with joy as the Rattata fainted. They had succeeded in knocking out one pokemon, but there was still the Meowth left, and Kahlia wondered if Adrian had another set of pokemon.
Aero chirped happily, then heard Kahlia yell a command to him. He obeyed her by darting down towards Torchic as fast as he could muster, ready to cover her from the attack. Kahlia knew that Carrie was too tired to do much more by herself, so she had Aero to help out a bit.
Though Aero was naturally quick, he had been too far away to get to Carrie in time before the Meowth struck her. The Torchic bellowed out in pain and was threw back a couple of feet. Though she struggled to get back up, she couldn't manage to do so, and fainted while trying. Kahlia gasped, a bit stunned, but she didn't lose concentration - she couldn't. She called Carrie back to her pokeball so that she could rest, and then had her Spearow to finish up this battle, or maybe, the first part of it.
“Aero, fury attack, now!” Kahlia commanded. She knew Aero had to be tired, as well, but right now, he was her only hope. Carrie had done well, and she whispered that to her while she was resting inside her pokeball. Aero swooped down towards the Meowth, enraged at him for defeating his partner. Her furiously jabbed at the Meowth six or seven times, trying to get in a couple of good hits, for what good it would do.

Cat, being pelted by two attacks, tried to defend himself, but the two attacks combined was just way too much. He fainted a few minutes later, growling angerily. "Cat, Rat, Return" She said cooly. The two pokeballs in her hand opened, red light consumed the fainted pokemon and the pokeballs closed, the pokemon containing them returned. "GO! Bird and Worm! She continued, two pokeballs thrown out. They opened and a Natu and Wurmple were on the battle feild, ready to attack. "Bird, Use Peck and Worm, Poision Sting!" She said, determination within her voice. The Natu ran as fast as she could, her beak glowing, ready to hit the Torchic. The Wurmple shot purple glowing needles at the Spearow.

OOC: Bah. I’ll just make a reply of my own. I don’t feel like modifying anything.
BIC:
Cat leapt away from the assault, giving his left claw a good swipe at the thin air in a threatening motion. It was easy dodging that attack, since he had already seen the attack being accomplished in the past. His eyes were slanted, narrowed down in concentration. He might not be as strong as Rat, but he was just as smart, and had the wits of a free-style rapper.
”Just so you know, there will be another Double-Battle after this. Prepare your Pokemon.” Adrian called over from the sidelines, feeling a tad embarrassed for forgetting to tell her competitor the rules of her Gym. She glanced over to Cat’s weakened state, he was tired, but he felt like he stood a chance against this bird.
”Stay defensive, Cat, and use your Scratch to attack.” Adrian responded, not liking the idea of putting Cat at risk from another Fury Attack. With claws unleashed, the Meowth charged forward with his paws blocking his face, protecting himself from any random Peck attacks. He was ready to knock out this bird.

Again, before Kahlia could warn him, though she did, Aero was moving out of the way. His exhaustion got the better of him, though, and he failed to be quick enough. He fell in pain as the Meowth's claws dug into his stomach, and he hurt his other wing when he hit the ground. He stood up in his agony, but he discovered that with both wings hurt now, he couldn't move them to fly. He was now in great danger, for he felt like prey being secluded to the ground.
"Aero, Leer!" Kahlia was understanding of her Spearow being hurt, and so she didn't have him to use a physical attack just yet. Though he may faint before Cat, at least the opponent would be weakened enough for her next round of Pokemon. Aero's eyes flashed bright neon green again, and Kahlia stared at them in amazement for the second time. She then thought of a plan. Whether or not she could get the Meowth to faint before her next team, she decided to use Buddy and Pearl, her Budew and Spoink. Buddy would probably be a bit scared, and Pearl only knew one good move, but they were both strong, and strength is what she needed now. She could only hope that her plan would work.

Adrian chuckled once she noticed that Aero was in a position that could be used to their advantage. This was quite fine for her, considering that Cat didn’t look as if he could take that many more hits. A leer attack only guaranteed that if he couldn’t dodge anything, then he would simply have to be returned and replaced by a more able Pokemon. ’Mmm…I wonder if she’s ready for the next set. ‘ She wondered to herself with a wicked eyebrow curved up, revealing to the challenger only a little bit of what she was thinking, and leaving much more for debate.
”Use your strongest attack. Finish it with a Bite.” Adrian ordered with a thrust of her finger in the Spearows direction. Cat wasted no time in bolting into action, with a thick screech he charged into the fray with claws and teeth bared. Except this time, he chose to use his teeth this time. ’Heh. I could do with a meal.’ He thought darkly to himself, having a rather dark and cynical sense of humor.

The Spearow tried to hop away, knowing that he still couldn't use his wings to gain flight. The Rattata's teeth sank deeply into his feathers, then his skin. Row! Aero exclaimed in agony. He tried to wriggle free of the Rattata, but when he managed to do so, he instantly fell to the ground.
"Aero! No!" Kahlia gasped. Aero tried to stand one more time, but he fainted while doing so. He lay there, wings spread open, and head straight out, unable to battle any longer. Kahlia grew angry, for though Carrie was tough, Aero was stronger. She clenched her fists, then recalled her Spearow. "You were great, Aero. Thanks," she whispered into the pokeball. Kahlia looked up at Adrian and yelled across the battle field, "You may have defeated my first set of Pokemon, but you don't stand a chance against my second team."
Kahlia unclipped two Pokeballs from her belt, and threw them in the air. “Come on out, Buddy and Pearl. We’re gonna win this!” Kahlia’s Budew and Spoink escaped from their Pokeballs and faced Adrian. Buddy looked around nervously, unable to recognize his surroundings. Bud, bud, bud? he questioned curiously. He turned around and saw his trainer, then ran to her feet, as frightened as could be. “Buddy, it’s alright. It’s just a battle. Pearl’s with you, and I’ll be helping you. Now, get back out there and show them how strong you really are,” Kahlia encouraged. The Budew gave in and returned to his battle spot, but he still wasn’t sure of himself. He knew he was strong, but he was still terrified.

Adrian smiled upon the sight of the new Pokémon on the scene. The Budew didn’t appear to be much of a threat, not for Bird at least. The Spoink on the other hand, was simply adorable. She couldn’t recall much about the species however, even if it was elementary school knowledge. She just knew that they weren’t intended to battle. She snickered a little, and holding out a Pokeball, she silently returned Cat inside. As she put the Pokeball in her belt, she fumbled for the next two with a surprised smile before regaining her composure. She tossed the next two out, catching them smoothly in her hands.
”Bird. Worm. Stand by.” She replied with a mighty raise of her head, as if she was looking down on her opponents. Of course, as a Gym Leader, this was to be expected of her. She wasn’t about to give away her plans on how to test this Trainer, but she was going to try and do it the best way possible. ”The challenger always attacks first.” She explained with a bored tone.

Kahlia studied the two Pokémon named Bird and Worm for almost a minute before deciding what to do. She may have looked as though she had no clue as to what to do to Adrian, but she had no worries right now. She had come up with a plan, and that's all there was to it.
"Pearl, dodge any attacks that come for you, but don't attack yet," Kahlia instructed. She smirked, then added, "Buddy, Stun Spore!" The Spoink stayed where she was, ready to move away from incoming attacks, and Buddy's bud on his head opened up to release a penetrating powder that sprinkled the air with its threat. Kahlia had already planned the battle out, but she knew that things weren't always as they appeared, and that life didn't always go the way one wanted it to, so for these reasons, she stayed on her guard, ready to yell out her Pokemon's next attacks, even though she realized this was a great weakness. She hadn't had much time to train them in the wild, so she had to remember to do that after this battle. She wanted to become a Pokémon Master, and to do that, she would have to be in tune with her Pokémon at all times, without having to give away her plans to her opponents.

Unable to find a proper command to aid her Pokemon in dodging the Stun Spore attack, both of her Pokemon were covered in it's choking spores. They felt as if they were being suffocated by them, preventing much movement between Bird and Worm.
"Try and move you guys!" Adrian commanded with a gentle movement of her left hand onto her hips, trying to look cool and composed. Bird struggled to move, but even the slightest movement of opening her beak turned into a chore. Worm went through the same thing, except he was flat on his belly, as if he was pinned to the ground.

"Great job, Buddy!" Kahlia congratulated. Dew! Buddy replied, a bit more encouraged than he had been, but still scared out of his wits. Pearl stayed still, ready for attacks to come her way, but they hadn't, for Buddy had done his job well. Pearl cheered on her team mate, Spoink, spoink!
Kahlia observed her opponent's Pokemon for a moment, then instructed to her Pokemon what they should do next. "Alright, Pearl, it's time. Psybeam at the Wurmple, now! Buddy, absorb from the little bird!" Kahlia clenched her fists as she was just now beginning to become antsy as she wondered what would be the outcome of this battle. She was having this team work together better than she had Aero and Carrie, for she had quickly learned the way to have them actually working together, instead of like two seperate battles, though at the same time.
The Spoink's pearl on her head shone through and released a bright purple yet almost clear light at the Wurmple. Spooiink! Pearl shrieked as she released the Psybeam at the worm Pokemon. She was quite excited, as this was her first real battle, and though she knew she wasn't that strong, she trusted her trainer to do the right thing - to have her to do the right thing.
Seed-like orbs floated towards Bird from Buddy's mouth in an attempt to take some of its energy to become his own, though he was not yet hurt one bit. He stayed silent while he did so to make sure he could keep concentration, and so far, it was working. The only thing they could do is hope that they were too stiff still to dodge the attacks.
