With the power outage, everything we deemed unusable. Even the Pokémon laboratory where new trainers usually received their starter was out of commission. Audrey was still in the dark about what has happened seeing that she would have to take a chance and go out to the Ranger Station. She would much rather have an open choice between what Pokémon she got as her starter instead of hoping she would get one that was actually capable of fighting. Perhaps she was just annoyed with the whole ordeal?
She sighed impatiently as she spotted the Ranger Station in the distance. Without even looking to see if anyone was stationed outside to welcome new trainers, Audrey swiftly walked up to the tent and threw the tent's flap to the side. She brushed some of her bangs out of her face with her hand quickly. "I'm here to receive a starter," she said in a firm tone. She truly hoped they wouldn't take her annoyance as hostility. Some people were quite edgy since the power went out, for Arceus knows what.

"Vena." A low voice growled as some rude person hit the base of his nose with the tent flap, giving him an extreme case of bad timing. The massive Venasaur began to back up, much to Emmy's surprise as she balanced a mug of hot apple cider in her hands. She had been planning to go out and greet any future new trainers after she warmed herself up, but something was up. "W-what is it?" She asked with a forced laugh, slowly maneuvering around a table as she turned to face whoever's attempt to get inside. It was a girl, maybe a bit younger than herself, and boy did she look like she was in a hurry. "Oh, hello there. Welcome to the Ranger Station." She greeted cheerfully, despite Vince taking up the entire entrance to the tent. There was no way she was returning him into his Pokeball, especially with that stubborn nature of his.

She took a quick glance at the large Venasaur. She always pictured them as temperamental creatures who liked to throw their weight around, possibly because they were quite large. Audrey looked back at the Ranger, pleased to know that she wasn't greeted by some perverted male ranger. She managed a smile and held her hand out towards her, "Hey. Sorry for just busting in here like that. My patience has worn down since the power outage."
Audrey thought it was better to apologize than to leave a bad impression on both the Ranger and her pokemon. Plus, she could get a better pokemon out of it. "I'm just starting out, though much to my parents' displeasure," she said. "I'm sure there are other kids having to wait it out to become trainers." She smiled again while trying her best to patiently wait to get her first pokemon. [/blockquote]

"Ah, oh no. I understand. There are a lot of people that come in like you." Ranger Emmy gave an unnerving smile, slowly kicking at Vince's hind legs to get him moving out of the tent. The sooner the better, actually. Sure, Audrey might have been in the way, but sooner or later she was going to feel claustrophobic in here. "You'll need a Starter Pack for your journey, which has most of the essentials. It used to have a Pokedoll in it, but we found out it was the most unused item ever. I guess everyone just wants to fight." She shrugged, a bit surprised because even she found the item useful at times. She went into one of the cabinets super quick to snatch a Starter Pack for the girl, handing it over to her as Vince squeezed out of the tent opening. <Oof. I'm getting too old for this.> Vince grumbled as he slowly walked onto the Ranger Field, where plenty of Pokemon roamed. First thing he sensed moving, his vicious vines lashed out in response, dragging the said Pokemon down and carrying it back with him without a second glance. He never cared what it was, as long as it was something. "Sounds like he's done already. Vince sure works fast." Emmy laughed, almost positive that he was lazy and got her a Biddoof or something. Hey, speed over quality was like his motto or something. "Except. Oh. Wow. That's rare. Mmkay. Catch it with this." She stared at the funky ghost type in surprise, before handing the Ultra Ball over to Audrey, which would've had an 100% catch rate in this situation. You Get: ::spiritomb:: SpiritombLevel: 5 Gender: You choose Ability: Pressure Attacks: Curse, Pursuit, Confuse Ray, Spite, Shadow Sneak Personality: You Decide x 5 x 3 Pokedex x1 ooc: You can just roleplay saying that your starter was caught in the Ultra Ball. You don't need to wait for a mod. ^^'

Audrey moved out of the way just in time to let Vice through as she took the Starter Pack from the Ranger. It was different knowing that the pokemon she would received would be brought to her by another pokemon. It was a bit like role reversal with throwing the ball as the only thing she had to do. She took a few moments to get herself organized and acquainted with the items given to her. Right off the bat, she recognized the familiar pokeball and pokedex, though they wouldn't offer much assistance at the moment. Then there was the potions that, unlike the pokeballs and pokedex, would be of great use to her.
When the Ranger spoke up, Audrey lifted her eyes and focused them on Vice. She was confused, mainly because he was so quick about finding her a pokemon. Though what he returned with was just as baffling. Even the Ranger seemed surprised at the catch. She recognized the pokemon, though rare it was, from the many ghost stories her neighbor used to tell her in an attempt to scare her. It was a good thing she was never that scared of ghost pokemon.
Audrey nodded slightly and took the Ultra Ball. She wasn't sure exactly how to throw one, so she took a wild guess and lightly tossed it towards the pokemon. Luckily for her it hit its mark, sucking the pokemon into its depths. It fell to the ground just in front of Venasaur wobbling slightly as the Spiritomb tried to free itself. After a few seconds, it stopped signaling that it was a successful capture. Audrey walked over to pick it up, thanking the Ranger and Vice as she did so before turning to head off in the direction of Route 1. This was just the beginning, though it was a difficult one. Hopefully, the power would be one in a matter of days.
