Full Name: Melissa Sophia Dale
Gender: Female
Age: Twenty-five (January 3rd)
Appearance: Born with flowing dark strands, she decided in her late teens that she no longer wanted to bear much resemblance to the boys in the family, nor did she want her mother's long hair. It's now short and choppy, died a rich dark red in color. She maintains the color almost religiously, determined not to let any of the dark roots show though. Her eyes stand out; a brilliant, chilling icy blue against the red of her hair. She's always been fair-skinned, and she burns before tanning in the summer, acquiring a darker tone to her skin while enduring pain to do so. She's certainly feminine in some aspects, preferring skirts and occasionally more low-cut tops, but she has a bit of a rebellious, punk flare to her style, as well. Combat boots fit for her journey, leggings, and a short shirt are usually paired with a tank-top and a jacket to keep out some of the cold. It's not very convenient, but she thinks it makes her look good. Her favorite color is red, and her style reflects this.
Background: Mel was her parents' firstborn. They had wanted a little girl, and upon getting one, attention was absolutely lavished upon her. For six years, she was living the luxury life of an only child, with no need to worry about sharing the attention. And then he came along. Her little brother. She hated the idea of having a sibling. Babies were annoying, and yet your parents cooed over them constantly.
Now, that wasn't how Joshua was treated. He was the 'accident' child, they hadn't planned having another, and they weren't fond of the idea. But they weren't going to get rid of him, either. They'd do anything for their sweet princess, however, and so when Mel made her distaste of her brother clear, they shunned him somewhat to appeal to her. Not in the forms of abuse or starvation, unless you counted being starved for attention.
He never did anything to wrong her, but as they aged, her revulsion grew. She constantly made fun of his love for books and music, rather than sports. In making her brother resent him, she denied the chance for a relationship. Now, in later years, she regrets it, but there's nothing she can do to change it.
In school, she was immensely popular, always surrounded by friends. She was a social butterfly, but also a backstabbing bitch. If she wanted something, and you had it, friendship no longer mattered.
At the age of fourteen, she found a Taillow with a broken wing crumpled on the ground in her backyard, with a Glameow playing with it as it slowly suffered. This brought about her revulsion of cats, and she chased the thing off and sheltered the poor baby bird until it's wing healed. It was never really considered her Pokemon until recently, as she never captured it with a ball, but she certainly considered the bird a companion. Cyan was it's name, and he scarcely left the yard for long, nesting in their large oak tree.
She's never had a relationship with Annabel, neither good nor bad. The two avoid each other, for the most part.
Her mother died when she was 22. The event shook her up, as she'd always been closest to her mother, and she didn't know what to do. Seeking for someone to blame, she attempts to childishly pin the blame on her father and younger brother. Of course, they had nothing to do with it, but she likes to believe there was someone at fault.
She argues with her father frequently these days, and so as an attempt to clear her head, she decided to go on a journey of her own.Plus, she secretly wants to look out for her brother, not that she'd ever admit that aloud. Cyan couldn't bear to part with her, not after they'd been friends for so long, and so he proposed the idea of coming with her.
Personality: She's used to getting what she wants, and when you get in her way, she isn't very friendly. Even her own brother wasn't safe from her selfish attitude, and when he 'got in the way', she decided she didn't like him. Melissa, though now in her mid-twenties, can become childish and immature when denied something she truly desires. She does not care how humiliating this can be, she does it anyways.
She isn't too concerned with being kind to Pokémon. In her opinion, only those that have proved themselves as true friends deserve her love and affection. However, she isn't outright cruel to them unless the situation calls for it. Another point of interest is the hatred she holds toward Team Death. Not agreeing with their cause, she opposes them entirely, despite being far from your average goody trainer.
When she likes you, she can appear quite friendly. However, she tends to be a backstabber, and thus your friendship isn't secure by any means.
In regards to her brother, she's matured a little... internally. Part of Lissa wants a relationship with her 'kid brother', but on the other hand, she's too selfish to try. She's frequently irritated by him and doesn't outwardly make an effort to make up for anything she says. Actions speak louder than words, right?
Info: Nope. Just tell me if anything needs fixed.
