Henrietta hummed as she strolled down the route. The sun was glaring down at her at an intensity that was didn't remember seeing in a long time. She'd already applied the factor 50 sunscreen, in fear that she'd go the colour of a crawdaunt if she didn't. It wasn't that hot, but she'd slipped off her khaki jacket and had it draped over her arm. She was carrying a pokeball in her right hand, staring intently at it.
She hadn't the courage to open it just yet. Inside was the Pokémon she'd stolen from its habitat in order to assist her with fossil hunting... She desired the company, but couldn't help but feel guilty. What if it hated her for it? They wouldn't be a very good team if that was the case...
Henrietta had been off in her own world so intently that she didn't notice the rather large stick in her path. It got caught on the laces of her boot, causing her to yelp as she fell to the ground. She landed face-first with a groan, feeling utterly bewildered.
She looked up groggily to see the pokeball rolling just out of reach. It must have hit a stone or something, because the Pokémon inside burst out. Henrietta stared at it from the floor for what seemed like eternity.
"H-hello, there." She murmured, moving to sit up. The Dunsparce stared back, its expression unreadable to the inexperienced trainer. "I-I'm Henrietta Jones, Jr." She said with a nervous smile,, "You can call me Henrietta though, or Hettie, or Jonesy or something, not Henry though I don't really like that. Well, not that you can call me anything.. You're a pokemon, you can't really talk. Well, no, you can talk but you can't speak English. Can you even understand me, because that's quite impressive if you ca- Wait, where are you going?"
Henrietta's nervous ramble was cut short by the type's tail spinning. The Dunsparce gave her a look and after almost a second, the creature completely disappeared from sight. Henrietta let out a yelp and got to her feet, scurrying over to where she'd last seen the Pokémon. "C-come back!" She whined, staring at the hole her only Pokémon had disappeared into.
Oh dear, this was just awful... What was she going to do? She'd barely had her Pokémon for five minutes and she'd already lost it. She squatted by the hole, picking up the pokeball and waving in the direction of her Pokémon. "Whereee aaaare yoouuu?" She moaned, devastated.
She sat down, wondering what to do. Should she go back to the Rangers, apologize profusely and ask for another one? She shook her head, they'd never give her another. She resigned to simply wait by the hole for a while, in the desperate hope that her Pokémon would simply return to her. She glanced around, hoping the wild Pokémon around here weren't too aggressive... She was pretty screwed if they were.

Sun, sun, what glorious sun!
The tiny little bud pokémon meandered her way along the Route, totally lost in her own thoughts. <It's wonderful to be out in the sun!> the grass type exclaimed, a tiny bounce in her somewhat jaunty step. There was a radiant smile on the pokémon's yellow face as it made it's way rather slowly along, hindered by the fact it only had tiny feet.
The Budew stopped dead as a human came into view just ahead, sat next to what appeared to be a hole. The little bud had heard many a horror story about humans called Trainers, who captured pokémon and turned them into stew!
Quivering slightly, curiously forced the little pokémon forwards until she was stood just a few feet away, staring at the human's back.
<She'll eat you!>
<She looks like she's lost something...> the poor little bud cried, suddenly feeling sorry for the girl.
<But what if she captures you and eats you!> the second voice that had spoken before was a little rougher... fierce perhaps.
<ohhhh...>
::budew:: Budew is... talking to... itself?

Henrietta continued sitting by the hole for what felt like an age. She'd lost her only Pokémon - she'd probably be blacklisted as a terrible trainer if she went back at asked for a new one. Perhaps she'd be scolded and told she was undeserving of a Pokémon of her own. She let out a quiet moan, putting her head in her hands. She dreaded to think what color she was - seemed to her she'd been bright red the entire day.
She sighed slowly, feeling very sorry for herself. She heard a rustling nearby and then the sound of a voice reached her ears. She looked up slowly, trying to locate which direction the noise was coming from. Her green eyes fell on the Budew and she felt herself blushing slightly.
"O-oh, hello." She murmured, "Were you talking to me?" She smiled slightly, unfolding her legs and turning to face the grass type. "You haven't seen a Dunsparce around anywhere? I lost mine, he got out and I hope he's alright, he disappeared down this hole and I can't find him and I'm worried and and and.. Um." She paused, her brain catching up with her mouth as she realized she was speaking terribly quickly to a plant.
"S-sorry, I just get worried easily. I'd only just got him and he disappeared..." She murmured, before deciding to peer into the hole. Almost immediately she threw her head back, clutching her nose. Droplets of red slipped off her hand as she moaned. The Dunsparce peeked its head out of the hole, crying out angrily at his trainer,
{ "Stay out of my hole, you horrid ratty trainer!" }
Henrietta didn't have a clue what he'd said and whimpered, fumbling in the many pockets of her jacket for a tissue. She pulled one out, holding it to her nose as she breathed carefully.
"That really hurt..." She whined at her pokemon, "What did you headbutt me for?" She asked, tending to her nosebleed. This was so embarrassing. She glanced back at the Budew with a nervous look, as if afraid all Pokémon were going to attack her.
The Dunsparce followed her gaze, peering at the grass type. { "Hey! What do you want?!" } He growled, eyes narrowing. He stayed above ground, keeping an eye on both his trainer and the Budew. What an angry little thing.

<Oh.. I...> The Budew trembled under the gaze of the Dunsparce. It had injured it's Trainer! Just imagine what damage it could do to the poor little Budew!
She toddled a little closer to the Trainer, holding back periodically. Budew was half expecting the Trainer to reach out and grab her, shove her in a pot and cook her. She didn't taste very nice! No no no.
<I DON'T TASTE NICE!> she screamed out suddenly. Shame hit it a second later and she blushed a little, yellow cheeks flushed a rosy pink. <Um....>
<She's going to eat you!>
<No! She's not!>
Budew eyed the Dunsparce warily. Whilst she felt pretty certain that the Trainer wasn't going to jump on her, she wasn't entirely sure about the miffed off Dunsparce.
<Is he... going to eat me?> She asked shyly, edging away from the hole a bit.

Henrietta looked down at the Budew who was getting steadily closer to her. She dabbed at her nose with the tissue. It seemed to be getting lighter, which was a good sign. She glanced back at the Dunsparce wondering if she should return him. He was glaring at the Budew, eyes squinting mercilessly as it got closer to his trainer. They both jumped when the creature yelled out { "I DON'T TASTE NICE!" }
Henrietta peered at the creatures, unsure of what to do. Perhaps she should return the Pokémon? Yes, that sounded like a good idea. She nodded to herself, picking up the nearby pokeball and peering at the Dunsparce. How did these things work? She aimed it at the normal type and was about to press the button when it shouted out. She paused.
{ "YOU!" } He growled at the Budew, { "You're in this together!" } His eyes narrowed and he edged forwards, eying up the Budew. Yea, he'd teach that Pokémon a lesson! He lunged at the grass type, powering up a RAGE attack.
Henrietta leapt backwards, caught completely unaware. "W-what are you doing?!"

Not even a foot off of the ground, the Budew stood terrified as the 4"11 Dunsparce started charging towards her whilst intoxicated in his rage. She stood still; completely bewildered and petrified as to what she should do in this type of situation. Run? Oh yes, that seemed like a good plan. She whimpered as she took a timid step backwards before preparing to make a speedy get away, but the Dunsparce caught up with her first.
His harsh pounding from the Rage was enough to make her cry out for her life, thinking that the damage was a lot worse than it really was because he was so mad about it. To try and save her dwindling health, she shot several vines towards the Dunsparce while he was giving her a beating.
The Absorb attack ought to give her some replenishing energy to last her throughout this experience. The two voices in her head cheered for her victory.
<Kick his buttocks!>
<D-does this thing have a buttocks?> She asked the voice, a little confused as to what it wanted her to do. She completely thought it meant it literally.
<...nevermind. Just win.>
Ok...and that was that.

Henrietta whimpered slightly, her hands flying to her face as she squealed at the Dunsparce. What was it doing?! She edged closer, her limbs flailing as she tried to pick up the creature without either injuring herself or - well, mostly injuring herself. She flinched at the Pokémon as her fingertips brushed it. The normal type growled, rotating to stare at his trainer. She edged backwards, falling backwards. She glanced at the Budew sympathetically, completely unsure of what to do.
The Pokémon used an attack of its own - Henrietta didn't blame it at all, but it only seemed to increase her companion's Rage. She was, of course, completely oblivious to the conversation the grass type was having with itself. The Dunsparce however was aware of at least half of the conversation.
{ "D-does this thing have a buttocks?" }
Of course, the serpent didn't like that question.
{ "WHAT DID YOU SAY ABOUT ME?" } He roared, the loud noise causing Henrietta to crawl further back. She was actually rather scared of her only pokemon, and definitely felt sorry for the Budew who seemed to be annoying him somewhat. The Dunsparce lunged at the pokemon, jaws open with a Bite attack. He'd teach that horrid grass type a lesson!
ooc; short again erkkk.

The Budew was currently trying to get out of stinger reach of the Dunsparce when it felt the new energy reach it from it's successful absorb attack. Going a little farther, the grass type turned around only to scream in freight.
The normal type's body was lunging at it, mouth opened wide. Scrambling the Budew didn't know what to do so it did the only logical thing that it could think of. Run in a circle and surprisingly it worked.
The panicked pokemon had managed to be on the other side of it's mental running track to avoid the bite, on the other hand, the grass type couldn't stop it's running in time and was now running straight at the Dunsparce's head. Oh no.
