Darla Gonzalez walked along the path tothe Ranger Station. All the lights were out, and she wasn allowed to go to the Lab. She had wanted a Torchick so very badly. Ah well. Smiling, she flattened her skirt, and organized herself. She wanted to look good for the ranger that came to help her. She was just eager to get out of the house, so she wasn't really taking a fast trot, it was more of a brisk slow walk.
Arriving at the ranger tent, she peeked her head in. "Hello? I would like a Pokémon." Offering a smile to anyone who was looking her way at that moment, she took her head out of the tent, and stood in front of it instead, waiting paitently for a ranger.

::rANGERM:: ::PORYGON::
"Greetings, earthling. I hope you are here to accept your starter and begin your journey, if you choose to accept the challenges that accompany it." A high pitched, nerdy, whiny voice appeared from the other side of the Ranger Tent's 'door'. His skinny pale hands flipped it open, revealing a cheerful looking male with his trusted Porygon that hovered along side him. "Hehe, I'll have you know that a lot of trainers name their 'Porygons' after Star Wars Characters. Haters gonna hate, but this is Charlie." He patted the Porygon on the head affectionately, and somewhat forced the Pokemon lower to the ground so the new trainer could pet him as well. "I'mma let you finish, but normal types are the best Pokemon of all time. We'll try and get you one." He boasted, sending a 'wink' at the girl by turning his head sideways like this: ;) [/SUB]

Well, Darla hadn't expected this. The voice from the other side of the tent seemed a bit funy, but she didn't dare giggle. That would be rude. He didn't look TOO bad, but who was she to judge? Being an only child and never getting out of the house, she didn't really interact with people. "I accept." She could tell by the voice that the ranger didn't get out much. Darla covered her mouth in an attempt to stop a giggle. "Like who?" She stopped to pet 'Charlie', noticing how he pushed him down.
Darla, at the mention of normal-types, nodded. "Sure, sure." Personally, she was more of a fire-type person, but normal was fine. At the sight of the wink, she made sure to keep her hand over her mouth until she spoke again. "May I have your name?" Darla didn't really care, but she was being polite.

Ranger Dexter ! Charlie bent his head beneath the touch of the soon-to-be trainer, making noises similar to R2D2 from Star Wars. <Boop boop. Hoes before bros, in my opinion.> He said, snickering. Dexter very nearly charged his power level to 9001 to smack down his insolent pokemon, but he stayed his hand.
"Oh, my pro friends playing Starcraft. We're busy beating down some noobs." He said, grinning. "What is this I don't even? I haven't introduced myself. My username is Dexter 1337, but you may address me as Dexter." He replied.
He looked down at the sight of his Porygon still lingering around. "Wtf? Stop being a noob and go get a poke'man for the lady." He demanded.
Turning, he walked back into the tent and brought out a starter pack for Darla. "Pardon my 1337 speak. I know girls don't exist on the internet. D: " He said, pronouncing the smiley as "capital D, colon."

Darla winced as the Porygon ducked away. Trying to shake it off, she barely heard its words.
Starcraft? Dexter 1337? This was what she got for venturing out of the house! She nodded. "Well Dexter, I'm Darla." She didn't offer her hand, afraid he would make a geeky comment out of it.
At Dexter's order for Charlie, Darla said nothing, still angry at it for ducking away. Served it right. "'s all righ'. But I spent some time on the computer myself." Darla didn't want to mention that she had been home alonenso long that she had gotten into her moms room and used it to keep her busy. She couldn't really say anything else about it, she didn't want him to make any comments.
Darla happily accepted the starter pack, looking it over. "Thanks." She tapped her foot out of habit, not wanting to say that she was bored. And she hated being alone with anyone she didn't know, either. But it was better than being completely alone. In some views.

Ranger Dexter ! "Glad to be of assistance, heh." Replied the geeky ranger, pushing up his glasses slightly. It wasn't long before the Porygon came back, carrying with it a rather befuddled-looking rodent. He plopped it on the ground a few feet in front of the two and held its squirming body down impatiently. <It's got a low power level now, boss.> Said the Porygon.
Turning back towards Darla, he tossed her a Great ball. "Regular pokeballs seem to short-circuit a lot, so take caution." He warned.
You obtain a Great Ball with which to catch Azurill.

Darla watched as the Porygon came back. She felt bad for the blue pokemon, but she knew that every pokemon in the world would somehow get caught sometime. The Azurill was actually pretty cute... Darla had been afraid that she would get a pokmeon like Spinarak, or something else that had an ugly status.
She caught the Great Ball {not without a trip or two}, and threw it. Hopefully it would work. If the pokeballs really couldn't work, would a Great Ball do the trick? A delayed thanks escaped her lips, even though she was unsure.
Darla made sure the blue sphere hit the pokemon anyway, not wanting to waste it just because she wasn't sure. But she watched it rock, waiting for it to either release the pokemon or succesfully catch it. She knew that if it let it go, she would always have another chance. She just wanted to get it right, being the person that she was.
Smiling, she quickly looked to Dexter for a look of approvement. But she didn't linger for long, Darla continued to watch the Great Ball, eager to know the Azurill's fate.

The Great Ball settled on the Azurill's head with a 'clonk', opening its mouth super super wide and gobbling the nervous blue creature within it. It wasn't exactly sure what was going on, but it hardly had the energy to fight such a powerful invention. Dexter smiled proudly as the Great Ball let out a 'ping', signaling its success. "Capture complete. Your escape is futile." He grinned, picking up the Great Ball with his scrawny hands. Scooping it up like a glob of ice cream, he handed it over to the girl, knowing that it would make a great companion for the route. <Indeed. Indeed.> The Porygon started twirling his head around while his body remained motionless. An odd sight, but it was something that you had to get used to over time. You Get:

Darla smiled when the ball signaled success. She accepted her Pokéball, nodding her thanks. She tried to ignore the words that came out of the ranger's mouth.
The Porygon had just become slightly annoying to her, but she shook it off. Clipping the ball to her belt, Darla walked off towards Route One, carelessly tossing a "Thanks." Behind her, as if she didn't care.
She did care, though, and she felt slightly like a robot after their interaction. [Bleh, wimpy post]
