Ok, so, this isn't one of my best ideas, but...
What if we did a pokewalker kind of thing? Like, you would post a thread stating the pokemon you want to take with you, and literally wear a pedometer, recording your steps in the thread. The pokemon might gain half a level, based on how many steps you take. And, you might randomly get items, or a CHANCE of cathing a low-leveled pokemon.
Make sense?

LOL
I would say, that instead of items you could get a 'pun of the day'. or maybe a random newsflash about a nearby trainer on the route. ;)

Exactly. I'd be up for a pun of the day. (This would be an interesting idea if we could regulate it in-game; maybe it's something that needs working on? There's absolutely no way we can count real-life steps, but maybe for each page of a thread or something, there's a chance to find an item if you have a pokewalker? Or something?)

OH ANOTHER IDEA TO ADD TO THIS.
Pidgey Express. It could be like, an easier way (when the power is in) to just grab yo stuff when it is ready.
As for items, I would be worried because in some routes...all there is is super rare stuff. We would have to even it out by adding some common berries and things like that, but I wouldn't mind the item thing. AS LONG AS IT IS MODERATED FAIRLY, LIKE THE Pokémon.
Mods would have to follow the uncommon/rare rule with items based on price. hmm?
Also Pokewalker would have to be purchased.
Once a page really wouldn't be that bad though. (heh, I guess it always takes me a while to accept an idea. o.o I'm so negative at first.)

I'd be more inclined to think once every two or three pages, really. Considering that there's already some new stuff happening in the Routes, it could get too complex if we're measuring steps and handing out items every page.

Like the actual thing. I'll agree with the 3 page rule.

Don't forget that we already do hand out hte normal items -- berries and stuff -- out during wild pokemon encounters. But once every 3 pages, a probability of an item sounds good. I do find a problem with having to, like, check and actually do it. It sounds tedious ><;

I'd have no problem doing it, but this Pokewalker would have to be purchased, with a list of who has it. The Trainer would also have to mention that they want to see if they've found something, rather than us doing all the math and seeing who 3 pages has passed for. And as Spirit says, it's a chance, not a certainty.

What about the steps would be a word count. Freezie could add a counter on the side and you copy and paste your text into it and however many words = steps. Whenever a mod replies to said thread they check the words and in their post they accept it. Members then keep track of it in their posts.

i am against word counts. The beauty of this site was there there isn't one, and I think some members really appreciate that they can just relax and post a crappy post, without anyone chewing them off.
Even if it's this optional thing, I'm kind of meh about it.

I'm against word counts too. People will force long posts and a forced long post is worse than a naturally short one, because it seems artificial and kinda ruins the RPing experience. I'm more for pages, which anyone can get. Word counts= prizes results in those who can't make long posts feeling crap about themselves and their skill.

Final Verdict It would be a hassle to keep track of and really isn't necessary to the site. There are plenty of other ways to get items.
