"Oh Wendell, I heard the power problem has been fixed! It'd be a great time to start your journey now." Waru cringed slightly as her mother's words replayed in her head, not just because she doesn't like to be called by that dorky name, but because her mother's judgment was way off. She twirled one of the "ears" on her hat, indignance on her face. The Pokemon Lab was still closed.
She remembered at the fork in the road, there was another direction towards a place called the "Ranger Station." Waru had never heard of a Ranger before but it seemed she had no other choice. She backtracked and took the other, less-taken road.
As the young girl drew near the large, open tent, she started to feel some regret. It was too quiet. Despite her attempts to look very plain in her grey clothing, she felt like she stood out like a Gyrados in a school of Magikarp.

::ursaring:: Ranger Lynn walked out of the Ranger Tent with a large smile on her face as she saw a new Trainer approach, ready to start their journey. Nothing pleased Lynn more than helping new people, Trainer or Coordinator, along the travel worn road of La Premiere Route, and Cheyenne as a whole. Pop music blared from within the tent, and an Ursaring could be seen inside shaking dat ass. Lynn grinned at the Trainer. "Welcome to the Ranger Station! Terra? Terra!" she called into the green tent. Out came the Ursaring, smiling in a maternal way at Lynn before directing that smile at Waru. It was odd to see such a large Pokemon so gentle, but Ursaring were fiercely protective of their young, and since Terra had never had any Teddiursa to nurture, she considered Lynn one of her own. "Can you get this girl a Pokemon please?" she asked Terra, and the Ursaring bounded out towards the bushes, hoping a Pokemon would show itself quickly so that she could get back in time for the end of her song. "Come inside, where it's warm," suggested Lynn warmly. "What are you looking for in a Pokemon?" she asked, trying to make light conversation as always.

"Ah-ahhh, thank you..." Waru's eyes darted from the Ursaring to Lynn, her worries melting away. The atmosphere in the tent was quite homely, even if she wanted to boogie to the familiar pop music.
"I guess I haven't thought much about my own Pokemon... When my parents and I moved here from Kanto two years ago, I lost my balance while looking over the railing on the boat. A huge bird came out of nowhere and saved me! I want my Pokemon to be a hero just like him." Waru balled her hand into a fist and stared wistfully ahead, then snapped back to reality.
"Though I feel bad about you going out and doing this work for me. I couldn't thank my hero that day, but since you're being a hero right now, I can thank you!" She scratched her nose as a nervous gesture.

Smiling Lynn listened to the new trainer as she spoke, flattered by the young woman's kind words. "Well no need to thank me dear, I just love helping new trainers. It's just the sort of thing that makes you feel good inside you know?"Turning the young woman strode towards the back of the tent, hair swishing to and fro as she swayed to the music, feeling quite satisfied. With a glance back at the clearly nervous woman she gestured for her to join her at one of the many tables in the tent. Would you like a drink at all? You seem a little...nervous?" Lynn commented, while pulling out a starter pack, placing it on the table closest to Waru.

"Oooh, so cool!" The words escaped Waru's mouth before she could process them. She was eyeing the items laid before her. She took a seat before she could embarrass herself any further. "Er, um, a little bit. I go by Waru. My parents kept Pokemon as pets in the past, but never battled. I want to raise a Pokemon that people can look up to...! But I'd need to train it lots... oh-oh! Water is okay!"
Lynn stiffled her laughter, pouring her a glass of apple juice instead. "Come on, you could use something with a little more 'oomph'! You also need to slow down, relax! We're all fellow friends of Pokemon here. You're acting so grown-up yet you're barely over the legal age to become a trainer!"
Waru even managed a chuckle. It seemed she was finally able to loosen up and enjoy her surroundings. A certain spark of motivation ignited inside her as she gazed at the Pokeballs in front of her, imagining the sorts of partners that could join her.

"It's a pleasure to meet you Waru." Lynn said with a slight nod, before sipping from her own drink. This girl seemed nice enough, though Lynn was a little concerned for her, especially with the events going on in the region. The current song was just ending when there was a loud noise outside the tent, with Terra bursting inside. Panting the large bear was clearly distressed, though not because of wild pokemon. No, this was much much worse. She'd missed the ending of her song! "Hmm..." Lynn said, noticing that at first glance Terra didn't seem to be carrying anything. It was only after staring for a moment that she noticed a patch of brown fur on her pokemon that simply didn't match. Intrigued, she pulled out an apple, watching as a small nose emerged sniffing the air excitedly. "Get ready." she said simply, before tossing the apple onto the ground. Like a streak of lightning the small brown pokemon leapt from the ursaring, happily chowing down on the apple before it. Smiling once more, the ranger handed the girl an Ultra Ball. "Go on now, toss it at the pokemon and catch your new partner." ::swinub::
(OOC: Just so you know~ you shouldn't rp the npcs and junk. Leave it to the mods~ even if it was fairly minor)

(OOC: Ooh, sorry about that. D: )
The young girl rose, Ultra Ball in hand, and watched as the little one stuffed itself. 'This is it... it's where it begins! ... I hope it won't be too mad 'cause I stopped him from eating. O-okay! No more dawdling!' "... aah!" Waru reeled her arm back and tossed the ball at the boar-like Pokemon, losing her balance and plopping onto the ground.
She watched intently, propped up on her hands and knees, as the ball opened and enveloped the Swinub in a red light and sucked it inside. And then the ball began to wobble.

The black and yellow pokemon capturing ball made a short arc, before rolling through the grass, and into the hairy little pig Pokemon, the button hit as it ran into it, and the Ultraball opening up, quickly devouring the little pig [and its apple], with a beam of energy. The ball rolled back and forth twice, and then three clicks could be heard. Congratulations Swinub has been caught! ::Swinub:: Level: 5 Abilities: { Oblivious + Snow Cloak } Attacks: Tackle, Odor Sleuth, Mud Sport, Bite (egg move from parents) Gender: Female Personality: A bit of a glutton, loves apples and apple flavored things. [ooc; Ari chose the move bite, if anyone is wondering. Using a RNG.]
