Violet had been waiting outside of the ranger station for almost two hours now…they must have been really busy with something. It didn’t even cross her that they probably had forgotten that she was there, so she didn’t go to their tent and introduce herself. No, it would be rude to just barge in an expect a Pokémon from a group of people who clearly had to be busy. And so she sat and continued to wait. Her small frame leaned against a sturdy tree trunk, the sunlight peaked through, and she basked in the sun like a lazy housecat.
Her blue eyes closed, and she couldn’t believe that this was happening and how quickly things were moving. Just two months ago, old Violet would have never believed that she could pretty much run away from home, take a ship ride to some unknown region (without carefully looking it up!), and decided to be a Pokémon. No sir. But, when you find out your family, your rock, has been lying to you your entire life, you’re kind of entitled to some impulsive, life-changing decisions.
It had been late morning when the ship docked and there had been a few others on the boat with the same intentions as her. Her precious pamphlet told her to head to a “Professor Winter’s” for her first pokemon, but she quickly found out that that wasn’t going to happen as a local so kindly pointed out to the passengers when they got off. Apparently the region was suffering from a blackout and they didn’t know when the power would come on. She told them they could wait until the power came back on to go to the lab or head to the ranger’s station.
Violet was already confused as she wasn’t very knowledgeable on how to do this whole Pokémon thing, anyway. So, she followed the road up to the ranger’s station, which was actually a big tent. She was one of the only ones there for a few minutes when a whole gaggle of teens/kids/adults showed up. They were all chattering and excited, most of them seemed to know a lot more about Pokémon than she did. All she knew about them was from what she drew of them. Intimidated, she sat down by a tree trunk and tucked herself away and tried to not think about her family too much.
She watched as the other people were slowly taken away into the park, return, and leave with big grins on their faces. What happened while they were away, she didn’t know, but seeing the happy grins on their faces made her feel excited that her turn would come up soon. The numbers dwindled down, and eventually it was just her. At one point a ranger had come out, and she thought, looked right at her and turned away. She figured he had to fill out paperwork or something. Did they have to do that? She didn’t know, but she didn’t fret. She didn’t realize that her dark clothes made her practically blend into the dark treebark, and her view-catching white blonde hair was covered with a dark violet beret. She must have been invisible.
So, she just continued to wait and bathe in the sun. It had managed to warm her up…too much. It felt like her head was drenched with persperation. Unbutton the jacket and pull off her beret, she let out a contented sigh. That was much better. Everything would be much better.

Ranger Rick As Violet lay there sun bathing, a shadowy figure lurked in the trees behind her. The man had been searching for something for the past several hours, his part time job consuming his spare time. Sure he was supposed to be working, but that had never stopped Rick before. Traipsing through the woods, the man slowed as he approached the woman, seeing a single leg on the ground, the rest of her shrouded from view. A body! Excited the man slowly crept forward, trying his best to be quiet. The Detective turned Pokémon ranger had been investigating Ranger Nort for quite some time, and he knew just how dangerous the man could be. He must be getting sloppy if he left a body so close to the ranger station though... Rick mused, slowly peeking out from around a tree and gazing at the woman. She looked surprisingly healthy, for a corpse, and kind of cute too, though she was kind of difficult to notice with the clothes she had on. Did Nort really try and camouflage his body right in plain sight? "Impressive..." he whispered, quickly pulling out his note book and beginning to scribble some notes in it, on the off chance nort, and his blasted ludicolo appeared. Better make sure the coast is clear, then check it out... Peeking around the corner once more, Rick fell over as he saw his trusted partner, Infernape was standing over the girl now making it painfully obvious to anyone with eyes the body had been found. "W-w-what are you doing!?! WE'RE SUPPOSED TO BE STEALTHY!" Rick screamed, pointing a finger accusingly at his companion, who was looking at him now as though he was insane.

Violet continued to doze in the sun. Conscious, but not fully aware. She felt that heavy haze of sleep coming on. Everything, all her problems, started slip away. It was as-
Woah! It was really hot now. It was as if the sun was right on top of her. She tried to just keep her eyes closed and drift back into her nap, but it was too much. Her jacket was still on, so she figured that had to be the problem. She opened her eyes and Woah! again.
Standing directly over her was a firey looking monkey. It’s head was on fire and it looked like it was wearing gold body armor. It was staring right at her. Her blue eyes bugged out of her head for a moment, and she flung her body back, hard, onto the tree trunk, but she remembered what her teacher had said about large wild pokemon, “Don’t scream and run away or they will chase you down and rip you apart. Have a nice day.” So, she managed to keep herself calm by taking a deep breath.
“Hello,” she said softly with a smile. Please don’t eat me, she thought.
It didn’t kill her, so that was nice. It was kind of cute too.
Then a man popped up. Screaming. It immediately put her in high alert…that fight or flight response thing. Violet jerked her head towards him…gaping at the stranger. He kind of looked like one of those detectives in the movies, but she kind of thought he was a creeper. Why did he need to be stealthy? Was he stalking her? She should have run, but she didn’t figure she should run away from the fire ape.
“Hello,” she finally stammered out. Please don’t eat me, she thought.
Maybe she was overreacting. She hoped she was.

"Z-z-z-zombie! Quick burn it to a crisp with fire blast!" Rick screamed as the girl sat up, diving back behind his tree shivering with fright. Luckily for both him and the girl though Infernape wasn't quite as impulsive as his trainer. Instead the fire ape gave the girl a feral grin, before backing a way a few steps. After a moment of terrified silence, Rick reemerged from the bushes, face flushed and just a tad embarrassed. He had always been overreacting in his past job as a detective, which was probably why he'd had a career change. "Uh...sorry about that, I'm Rick a Pokémon ranger." he said a bit hesitantly as he approached the young girl, trying his best to remain calm and professional. Sure he had just accused a new trainer of not only being dead but a zombie and had ordered his Pokémon to attack them, but mistakes happened right? "Anyways you should be careful in the woods. I was uh...tracking a dangerous person and thought you were one of his victims. You really shouldn't travel without a Pokémon to protect you." As he said this he nodded to Infernape who quickly ran towards the Ranger Station. A moment later it returned, carrying a durable bag, containing a trainers basic starter items. "Would you like to come get your first Pokémon? Or would you rather wait here?" he inquired deciding taking the girl into field for a rare first hand experience, if she was up to the challenge.

Zombies?! Where? Damian always warned her this day would come. They even had a zombie plan. She looked frantically back and forth to see if one was there, but there was just her and the that fire ape that was grinning at her. Oh, and then it hit her. That guy was talking about her…awwkwarrd.
She then scrambled to her feet, just before the man emerged from the bushes. So he was a ranger. Ranger Rick. She liked his name, a lot. It was so awesome that all her apprehension about him dissolved away. Yep, she was no longer worried that he had creeped up on her or ordered his Pokémon to a crisp, and…He was a ranger! She could get her Pokémon! This was going to happen!
“I’m Violet,” she said with a bright smile as the infernape ran into the tent. Her first Pokémon. And with that dangerous person on the loose, as Ranger Rick said, it was perfect timing. Then, the ape was back with a bag…the same bag she had seen other trainers leave with. She wondered what was in there. Damian once mentioned a pokedex, maybe that was it.
Then he asked if she wanted to go with them and find her Pokémon or wait here, and she already knew what she wanted to do. “I’d like to come with you,” she said. She pretty much needed all the experience she could get.
She was so excited; she was practically beaming.

O-OK,"] stammered Ranger Rick as his Infernape began to trot ahead of him. Not wanting to be left behind, he stumbled after him with a call of "Hey! W-wait for me!"After a few moments of scouting the grasses Rick and his Infernape- and he trusted that Violet would be looking too- had found nothing. Rick frowned, and was about to tell Infernape and Violet that they were going to go to a different part of the station when Infernape let out an exclamation of shock. Turning around to see what it was, Rick's eyes widened, and with a howl of terror, he jumped into Infernape's arms. Until, that is, Infernape's flaming tail singed his butt. With a yell, he jumped out again, landing on his ass in an extremely ungraceful way. "U-um, anyway! You wanna catch that thing, don't you?!" he asked, a pleading edge in his voice as he handed a Pokeball to Violet as the crustacean drew closer, large red eyes staring at Violet, Rick, and Infernape in turn in confusion. "DON'T LET IT GET ANY CLOSER TO MEEEEE!" ::kabuto:: Level: 5 Gender: Abilities: Swift Swim and Battle Armor Attacks: Scratch. Harden. Confuse Ray. Personality:

As she walked behind them, Violet was again faced with the shock of all that was happening. It hadn’t been long ago that she had no real interest in Pokémon except to draw them, but now she was practically foaming at the mouth to own one. It’s was strange how things changed so quickly. Change, which she had always disliked, was all around her, and she was happy.
She must have been deep in thought, as by the time she snapped out of it, Ranger Rick and his Pokémon seemed to already be scavenging around for a Pokémon. There she had been, just standing about…What good help she was. Before she could even start to help, both the Pokémon and Ranger Rick were yelling. She quickly turned to see what the commotion was about, and there it was…a Pokémon. Maybe even, her Pokémon. A grin popped up on her face. It was so strange looking. Those bright red eyes, those claw like legs, and that big shell on it’s back. She had never seen anything like it.
As he handed her the pokball, her grin turned to a frown, what was she supposed to do? Oh gosh…throw it? She had horrible aim and a weak arm. She wished she could have asked him to do it, but he sounded desperate for her to do it. She could do it. Pulling her right arm back, she prepared to throw it with all she had. One, exhale, two, inhale, three -- GO!
The red and white ball smoothly sailed through the air…straight past the kabuto.
“Oops,” she whispered. She apparently didn’t know her own strength.
Um, now what? Ranger Rick was still freaked out...she had to catch this thing. Then she remembered, like a light bulb coming on, the pack! She had been clutching in her left hand the entire time. Reaching into her starter kit, she blindly rummaged around for something. First, she pulled out a red square. The pokedex! She would need that later. She threw that back in there and reached in again, and this time she pulled out a small red and white ball.
She let a sigh. She had to do this now. The pokemon looked like it could run away at any moment. She enlarged the pokeball in her hand, and then she just threw it. Bam, it smacked right into the pokemon and the red light sucked the pokemon in. It wobbled around for a bit, and then stopped.
Wow! She did it. She practically wanted to do a jump and fist pump in the air, but she refrained herself and walked over to the pokeball. Smiling when it was in her hands, she then went over to pick up the other pokeball that she had thrown too far.
"Thanks Ranger Rick," she said as she walked past him. She had her first pokemon, and she knew it was only just the beginning.
