Mission Statement
I think this has been brought up before but I'm not sure. I'm going to give my two-cents anyway. To give members something to do when they're not interacting, battling, or catching Pokémon, they can take on some missions/quest/petitions/etc.
I really liked the mission system in the Pokémon Mystery Dungeon games but they really weren't in-depth at all. That's why RP has a great place for said missions.
Here are some ideas for possible missions for those not in Team Death:- Capture Missions: An NPC (maybe you could even ask other members?) wants to capture a particular Pokémon in the area but for some reason cannot. You will go out and search and capture them and bring them back to said NPC. Members can help each other.
- Retrieval Missions: A Pokémon has run away from their trainer or another NPC and needs to be found. These missions don't have too many wild Pokémon but still require searching. Members can help each other.
- Excavation Missions: Mysterious ruins have been discovered in varying areas. Leading an excavation team into the ruins, it's your job to find out what's hidden down there. Obviously you can't just go in once and completely discover everything so these can be done in parts. Only doable with two or more members.
- Rescue Missions: An NPC is in danger! A friend or family member is worried and asks for your help. These missions can vary greatly in difficulty and theme. Team Death could be involved as well as dangerous Pokémon. Save them! Members can help each other.
- Wanted Missions: Someone put out wanted poster for an NPC or a Pokémon. Perhaps they had recently caused a ruckus, chaos, or terrorized other NPCs/Pokémon. Found this person or Pokémon and administer some justice! Members can help each other.
- Exchange Missions: An NPC has an item or a Pokémon they wish to trade for something else. If you take this mission, you can complete it whenever you obtain said item/Pokémon.
- Escort Missions: An important NPC need to travel through an area to another. However, there are people out there who are trying to stop them; even kill them. It's your job to protect said NPC. What you protect may vary as well. Members can help each other.
- Battle Missions: An NPC wishes to fight a worthy trainer! If you can beat them, then you not only gain their respect but rewards as well. Members could quite possibly post these kinds of missions if they want a battle. Can either be single or double battles with the latter requiring two members.
- Discovery Missions: An NPC claims they've seen something out of this world. Could it be...? Is it...? It could be a legendary item...or perhaps a legendary Pokémon? These are extremely rare missions so you should definitely look into these. Typically a single member ordeal.
I would like to discuss the possibility of implementing these missions into the RP system here in Cheyenne. We need to go over:- Bill Poster: One or more mods who can think up a fixed amount of missions and when they should refresh the billboard.
- Clarity: We need to discuss if missions are redundant or are too simple/complicated. Also if the missions actually make sense.
- Rewards: We need to discuss what kinds of rewards particular missions get. Perhaps we'll need a ranking system like in Pokémon Mystery Dungeon.
- Implications: We also need to discuss if this mission system will clash with anything on the site.
- Interest: We need to know if members will be interested in doing these missions. Without people who want to take misisons, all this hard work will be for nothing.
Discuss!

My biggest issue with this is that most of the TD missions involve other members, and minimal extra mod work. That is what I really want to focus on.
Some of these would work (bring me back a ______ plz from route one), while others just end up being more things for mods to do. I would love for the missions to be more focused on member/member interaction, rather than a bunch of NPCs.
A couple of them that need a moderator's help is fine, but at the end of the day, missions would be something for the members to do when they are waiting for a moderator's reply, I find.
Of course, that's my opinion. The missions ARE really well thought out and I do like them. Just... not the extra work.

For moderators and admins, I'd say they make the missions and then receive a report about it from the leader of the group. Then you just give them their rewards.
Primarily, the mission will be led by a leader. Everyone else is a teammate. The leader can be introduced to methods a moderator would use to generate Pokémon and such so the moderators don't have to have such a big impact on the progression. Mods can always simply check up on progress.
If members were to post about missions, we would definitely need to come up with a simple way for them to create the mission as well as how to go about doing it. I could try to think of something. Feel free to throw ideas at me.

Things to consider: Would the missions take place of a Journey thread/have the same priority? In the sense of you'd have to pause your Journey thread to do a mission, unless it was a capture mission or the like.
Also to consider: How would you decide if a person's worked hard enough on a mission to be finished? It'd take longer to get stuff done with more than one person than it does with one person, because you have to wait for replies before moderators can reply to it.
Finally, would the same moderator who posted the mission be expected to continue posting in it? If we had moderators switch out as they do with wild Pokémon and route trainers, would it not mess with the tone of the adventure?
A ranking system for the missions is absolutely necessary, perhaps with an IC post number requirement for the mission thread. A post number in mission thread requirement is also a good way to make sure that it's done without having to have a moderator work on it.

I did mention some possible missions for normal trainers, but the problem with that was...it was simply hard to be creative. These were the only two I could think of that made sense: Be a Temporary Police Officer for a DayPatrol the city, and a bunch of whiny trainers come to harass them about stupid things. If they can survive helping 3 trainers, they win the mission. Actual members can interact in these missions with their characters. Emergency Mission! Stop TD Forces at This Route! Then they get a prize. And...yeah. If TD members participate they get Black Listed. But I'm fine with a lot of them. The problem is who plays the NPCs. I could do it, but there would be a big risk of me not modding as much in order to deal with this. I'd say for battle missions, the point is to battle. If you win or lose, it doesn't matter as long as it ends. Maybe kick some members down a notch with their newbie Pokemon. I'm not so sure about excavation and discovery missions, but as long as other members are there in the thread, it could be do-able. My reasoning behind it is what kind of items could be offered in the mission, because it wouldn't be something I'd be interested in modding. If it were ruins, maybe Pokemon could be uncommon in general. Wanted Missions might go 'meh' if the said NPC is found in someones non-open thread. I would be careful with it. Maybe instead it could go with Yvon's idea of an advertisement board, where members can put others on 'the black list' for a price. And a bunch of people swarm after them for lulz. Capture missions are fine, but it would also be ok if they were just traded the Pokemon/already had the Pokemon on hand.

For Warr
- Yes, there would be a pause for the Journey topics. Members will have to focus on the mission at hand before parting ways and returning to them.
- A mod can check every now and then but if members were only barely making it through the mission with good posts, then they really shouldn't be here in Cheyenne in the first place. I'm sure we can trust our members to continue to be semi-literate.
- I'm actually considering having members and mods create missions. However, unless the mod is actually joining the members in the mission, then it will be played out purely by members. I'm hoping to get a billboard subforum or something where the missions can be posted and accepted/abandoned by members. The mods will simply close the mission when its over with and reward those involved.
For Spirit
- LOL. I'd call those Patrol Missions. That sounds hilarious actually. Like something from Jackass or MTV. xD
- Stopping TD could probably fall under Emergency Missions. I'm planning on having time limits for completion of the mission. Emergencies obviously will probably only last for a day.
- For NPCs, please read the last bullet above addressed to Warr.
- For Battle Missions, members will probably put up a prize they wish to give away if someone can beat them. So challengers don't lose much but their pride.
- For Excavation Missions, I'd think those are more of a consistent moderators thing. This will probably be reserved for moderators unless a member can pull through for the whole thing and provide a fun experience for the others in his or her topic.
- With Discovery Missions, these will definitely only be for moderators to create. I just wanted members to be able to be exposed to Legendary Pokémon if only an encounter. As for items, they could be something rare. However, there's always a chance that it ends up being a hoax. This is essentially a gambling mission.
- Wanted Missions could certainly be for characters holding grudges. However, I don't want members ganging up on one member. It should be based on how many trainers the petitioner wants
dead defeated.
- Not every member is willing to give up Pokémon for a Capture Mission. That's what its asking for though; for you to search and capture a Pokémon and then give it to whoever asked for it. However, I do see redundancy with this mission. Journey threads can supply Pokémon and members could abuse this...

I think we should give this a test run. I'd hope that this would be appropriate in Verona, where all trainers have access to the city. I mean, for a point in time just about everyone was a member mod and they followed through with the rules.
So basically members and mods go through with the missions, then the leader posts on a thread kind of 'reviewing' what happened, how successful they were, and how long it was (including how many pages).
That would be the most basic information I would want to know before giving out any rewards. I can easily set up a prize system like the one in TD that would be just as fair...except some TD members can participate in the ones that don't harm the organization.

That would be good. We can try a test run with a couple members. So here are the steps:- Admin/Mod/Member creates a mission.
- Member/Mod accepts the mission and becomes the leader.
- Member/Mod goes into a gathering place and tries to recruit other trainers to help.
- They interact and go on the mission.
- They do the mission and come back.
- Leader posts a report in the mission topic.
- Mod/Admin reviews it and rewards the party.

Pokémon Ranger Missions!!!!!! Yes we should have Pokémon ranger type missions where you have to rescue or capture or defeat a specific Pokémon.
They would be so awesome! We can have those filler type things in this RPG where we have to do specific tasks.
Like when Ash got the Lapras and had to bring it back to it's family. You can get a Lapras too and have to get it back to it's family... Or the Larvitar saga...
Those would be so awesome!
You can even have this as the one time you can use legendaries except finding them yourself. Since the chances of you ever getting one is so limited, you can go on a mission and use it in a battle sometime during the mission for some special ones.
For example if you have to save a "captured" legendary you can use it once you save it to defeat the enemies... And most legendary sagas deal with more than one legendary, so you can use the other one to battle.

Personally, I wouldn't add any legendaries in. Yes, they are desirable, but if no one is truly regulating this, i would simply just put a no-ultra-rare-pokemon clause.
Not that it'd matter too much.
my conditions for this, which I have mentioned in cbox (x) cannot catch pokemon (x) no levels gained, until after the thread. you'd be doing these to have fun, interact, and mission prize. Not to rake in levels.
Other than that, i wouldn't mind a mission that is also just 'Give Joey a Rattata', where members can get rid of some pokemon they might not want for a little prize.

Those conditions would work. You only either defeat or run from the Pokémon you encounter and you won't gain any new levels until the mission is over. That's good for me.
I just wanted for some way for members to at least encounter a possible legendary. If not, that's fine with me, too. I wanted to have Discovery Missions be one of the two regulated by a mod possibly.

FINAL VERDICT
We'll be giving this another try, under the condition that this is the final try. If it doesn't succeed this time, it just isn't meant to be.
