Heaving a sigh of frustration, Aki buried his hands into his face, slid them up to his hair, grabbed, and pulled with the urge to find the nearest tree and beat his head against it. So far, even on the simplest rout possible, he had gotten utterly and completely lost. He knew deep down that he couldn't read a map to save his soul, and had just about torn his own in two with his bubbling frustration before he sighed and shoved it into his pack yet again. Stubbornly he forced himself forward, muttering all the while as he forced himself through trees and bushes.
And to make everything better, it was getting dark out!
AND he was dirty.
These two things had him flattening his expression, jutting out his bottom lip with a high pitched whine, wanting someone to come and help him where he could not. Though that was hardly going to happen, he assumed, and the only one near him was the Bronzor that followed dutifully, occasionally piping up to add his two cents into the matter. Such was the matter when the blue shield like creature hovered away, examined a tree, and then gave its monotone drone.
Been here before. Forte soon spoke, causing the tiny boy to grind his teeth together and throw his arms up in exasperation. "I KNOW that Fort. I've been trying to find us a way out for how long now? How about you lead and use your pokemon instincts or something?!" He huffed, letting his minor temper tantrum bleed out as he stared at the Bronzor, which stared back, then bobbed in a poor example of a nod. Very well. It droned before spinning, and disappearing into a shade of more shrubs, leaving Aki to blink, then dart off after it with a squeal. "Wait wait! I didn't mean leave me here!"

::nidoranf:: Pkmn encounter ! A female Nidoran had been rooting around in the leaves for food, having not eaten anything since dinner the day before. After foraging for an hour and a half and coming up with nothing, the famished pokemon was about to give up and go home hungry. However, at that moment, she was interrupted.
A round, blue disc was spinning quickly through the bushes towards her. Thinking quickly, the poisonous pokemon dove into a bush to avoid getting pummeled in the face. Soon after Forte passed, a strange two-legged creature came following. The nidoran peeped out of the bush she was hiding in; she'd never laid eyes on a human before, and this one had piqued her curiosity.
Although her stomach protested and her mind told her that she was likely getting herself into a dangerous situation, the innocent Nidoran hopped out of the bushes and followed swiftly after Aki. <Wait up!> She called after him.

<Wait up!>
Aki turned his head at that, looking first to Forte, who spun and hovered, staring with its wide eyes back at him. The voice was clearly not the Bronzor's, so he was left to blink around, stopping in his movements to look to and fro until Forte's gaze led him to what squeaked after him.
Blinking again, Aki cocked his head at the little blue pokemon which followed him. Absently he felt the Bronzor move closer to his side, wary, but not wholly threatening. The small blond pushed a hand behind him to pat the shield like creature on the topmost curve of its body, reassuring it as he slowly crouched down, tilting his head at the small female nidoran.
"Now where'd you come from?" He gently spoke, tilting his head as he took the state she was in, smiling softly before slowly taking his bag from his chest. Internally he was squealing like a lovesick child at the cute pokemon, though decided not yet to bring that part of him out as he rifled through his bag. He had packed a few granola bars for his trip, and soon unwrapped and broke one into a few pieces before tossing a chunk to the pokemon.
"Don't worry, its food, won't hurt ya at all. Ah promise!" He grinned to the little thing, leaning back with a wide smile.

::nidoranf:: Pkmn encounter ! The female Nidoran nearly slammed into the human's leg as he stopped in his tracks, scrambling to a stop just a few feet away from him. The human spoke - it was a sound she'd never heard before, and she reveled in it - their language seemed so clear, so neat. Musical, in a way. The young poison pokemon looked up at Aki with wide eyes as he smiling down at her.
Suddenly he stuck a hand in his bag. Not knowing whether he was about to bring out a weapon or other sort of dangerous thing, the Nidoran froze and took a couple steps back. Cold chills ran down her spine as she considered once more what she might be getting herself into. However, she was soon proven wrong once again as the two-legged creature removed an odd rectangular thing from his pack.
It was a curious thing - he had to remove its shell in a painful-looking manner before breaking it up violently. The crinkling of the wrapper as he took it off, she assumed, were the granola bar's cries of pain.
Her contemplations were interrupted when he tossed a bit of it toward her. She took a step back, bewildered by it, but slowly stepped forward again to test the waters. Lowering her head, she took a sniff of the stuff and realized that it smelled sweet, with just a hint of salt - it reminded her of the Pecha berries she'd often been treated with when her mother fed her at a young age. Reminded of her starving stomach, she began to salivate at the sight of this piece of food.
Bending down, she bit into the chunk and marveled at its delicious flavor. She'd never tasted such a taste nor felt such a texture in her mouth, and she wouldn't have traded that feeling of her hunger being satiated for anything at that moment. Giving a squeal of happiness, the Nidoran continued to eat at the chunk of granola until none was left.
Utterly dissapointed, she looked pleadingly up at Aki. Her eyes begged for more of the delicious, crumbly feed.

Aki grinned softly, watching the small Nidoran. He knew, of course, that she would be skittish and fearful, but at least she was a nice pokemon and wasn't coming up with a wicked poison sting onto his soft stomach or something. So he watched quietly as she slowly approached the bit of granola, sniffing it before carefully nibbling it.
That brought a grin to his face as he placed the wrapper in the bag, closed it, and set it aside. He didn't want to spook her off, so sighed and gently eased himself down, followed close by Forte on his side, relaxing on his stomach and laying down prone as she ate still. He laughed softly at her sound of delight, soon stretching his arm out infront of his body with his other hand lying over his elbow, the outstretched hand having the rest of the granola in it.
"Go on, you can take it." He softly spoke, holding the rest of it out in his lax hand, fingers flat for her to take the rest of the bar. "If you'd like, you can come with me. Forte and I, we're gonna be partners, y'know? Right Fort?" He thrummed with a small smile, grinning gently at her as the Bronzor settled halfway along the ground, tilting himself against his make and making a monotone sound of agreement.

The Nidoran flinched as the man went down on his stomach as she ate, but seeing that he wasn't acting like the threat that she thought he was, she forced herself to relax in his presence. Perhaps meeting up with this human was good luck after all, she couldn't help but think as she sniffed out more food on his body. She couldn't see where he was hiding it, but it sure smelled amazing! As he held the rest out, she daintily took it out of his hands, careful not to harm him, and swiftly finished the rest of it off.
<T-travel with you? Why? Where are you going?> She asked, swallowing down the rest of the granola bar. That ought to keep her stomach quiet for a while at least, but she still felt hungry. She felt as if she could be happy if she stayed around kind folks like these, but she would have needed a dang good reason.
'It is getting a bit colder though. I heard from the older Pokemon that Winter is coming. I sure don't want to be alone during that'. She bit her lip as she thought of the upcoming Winter, not sure what this scary alien like 'snow' would do to her. She looked back up at the human and his 'partner', curious as to why they liked her so much anyways.

Aki grinned even more as the little blue pokemon took the little bit of food for what it was, and grew bold enough to take the piece of food out of his outstretched hand. But good, that was what he wanted, for the little thing to start trusting him. She was cute, and he liked her, she would have been nice to have on his team. But that would take convincing, and patience. Both of which he didn't have a whole lot of, but it was worth a shot anyways. Right?
Right.
So he gently relaxed, smiling at the little nidoran when she spoke, shrugging a bit. "Hmm? Why? Where we going? Well, why is simple, to be friends and train and all that stuff. Humans and pokemon do it, y'know, I just met Fort a few days ago, right?" The Bronzor gave an affirming bob of its body, watching, but relaxing, glad to settle down and quit its hovering for a while. "And we're going wherever we want, but for now we're just gonna keep going to the next town, training and getting strong." Alright, so when he spoke of it, it was really silly sounding, but still, it was worth a shot just telling her where they were going. Or at least that was what he was hoping anyways.

Luckily for Aki, the young Nidoran seemed to like what he said. A hint of a shy smile appearing in the corner of her lips, she took a curious step closer towards the Bronzor. She was hesitant, not all that sure whether she should trust him yet, but the two seemed friendly enough, so she dared to have some faith in them. Normally she wouldn't be so trusting, but considering her circumstances, she really didn't want to risk being alone for an entire season of cold.
<So anywhere, huh? I've always wanted to go into these 'towns'. They look so pretty at night.> Her eyes seemed to sparkle with sincere interest in the trainers proposal. With a courteous nod towards the trainer, she accepted his offer.
<Sure, I guess I'll go with you then. Sounds better than nothing.> She replied, finally making her answer official. She only hoped that she wasn't making a stupid decision by rushing into this without all that much thought. She really didn't want her gullible nature to get to her, but she honestly thought that he was a good enough guy.

Aki watched excitedly as the shy little pokemon gave a tiny, teeny smile at him, asking another soft question and giving him a moment to nod and grin back. "Yup! They're even nicer up front. Or most of them at least. Like...At night its pretty, with the lanterns lit up and everything." He babbled back to her, sliding his arms beneath his chin and grinning.
When she finally agreed, Aki leaned himself up with a triumphant grin on his face, gently easing his fingers forward to reach behind her small paws and pluck her up. While nervous, the Nidoran looked over to him, then to Forte, whom just reclined against the blond yet again. <You're sure?> She asked after a moment, making him grin brightly and draw her into his lap, where she peered around cautiously.
"Of course I am!" Aki chittered, gently reaching through his bag to find a pokeball for the pokemon to see and sniff. "I just gotta do this one thing, and we'll be able to go." He murmured before suddenly popping the ball open and sucking the pokemon into it before she had the mind to bolt away, just to be safe. Though just as quickly he opened it back up, sending the blinking Nidoran right back out, though far more nervous than before.
<W-what was that?!> She squeaked, Aki patting her on her head. "A pokeball, if things get bad, that's your safe place to be." He affirmed, the blue one looking skeptical before relaxing and slowly shifting to press against the side not taken up by the Bronzor, whom was now turning to peer and inspect her. "Now, we just need a name for you." Aki hummed while the two pokemon checked each other out, watching and sniffing in their likewise manners. And though it took a moment, Aki soon had a name for the little pokemon. "How about Duchess?" He hummed, blinking to the Nidoran, whom turned her head before nodding.
<I like it...> She gave a soft squeak of approval before settling down again, resting against the teen's warm side. "Kay good, Duchess and Forte." He soon grinned, patting both the pokemon, relaxing again.

::magikarp:: Pkmn encounter ! Though shielded by bushes, a couple hundred yards from Aki there lurked a rather deep, muddy puddle. Judging by the deep clawing marks left on the sides of the hole, such a puddle had previously been dug by a Sandslash or Sandshrew in their search for roots. They'd neglected to refill the hole, allowing swift rainfall to transform the void into a small, murky pool.
Mud coated the sides of it, marked with pokemon footprints. (and body prints if they were particularly unfortunate.) Inside of the pool a Magikarp swam lazily, ducking under in the two-feet deep pool and moisturizing himself. A heat wave had hit Route 1, and it was puddles like these that cooled fish like him off. Thankful for the lucky find of water, the orange-scaled fish did a happy little jig. Water sloshed and splashed about, causing a ruckus.

(eeeew XD Miley Cyrus)
It was not Aki, nor Duchess, to notice the slow sloshing splashes that came from the shielded pool some ways away. Though instead it was the Bronzor at the blond's side that soon blinked its wide eyes open at the sound, lifting up off the ground with it's psychic powers to peer off and alerting the young man that something was up.
"Huh? Whats up, Fort?" He chattered as the pokemon floated away, Duchess peering after the strange pokemon before shifting closer to Aki. What if it was something bad and her new compatriot was just walking...floating right into danger? <You think that's a good idea?> She worriedly squeaked, the Bronzor just cocking himself to halfway peer back at her as their trainer slowly ambled back onto his feet with Duchess in his arms, following the round shield creature with a small blink of confusion.
<Don't know.> Came the droning, delayed reply of the pokemon as he shifted out of the bushes and approached the puddle, tilting himself forward to watch the Magicarp with a slow blink of his eyes. <...That's a pretty small pond for a big fish...> Duchess muttered from Aki's arms, nose twitching as they simply watched the orange scaled creature dance in the water.

<Not food. Not food.> The Magikarp said at the Bronzor's approach, trying to convince the strange Pokemon that he wasn't to be eaten. He wasn't all that sure how that idea got into his head, but he knew that his kind was often preyed upon. Splashing about in the water so that some of it sprinkled on his observers, the Magikarp sensed that something was weird about how they were all watching him. One stranger had multiplied into three, and from what his intelligence told him, three was a lot more than one. Three was a bit too much for his comfort.
<Shoo. Shoo. I'm a rock, not a fish. Not tasty. Not tasty.> The Magikarp repeated, using a Splash attack on the two feet pool he was trapped in, sending the water droplets everywhere. He appeared to be an easy target, but a feisty one at that.

Blinking a bit down at the magicarp, the trio wore almost exact expressions of confusion on their assembled faces. Notre simply stared at the fish as it spoke and flung water at them, which only made him shift again, this time wiggling to send the water droplets right back at him.
<He's....got a few berries short of a tree, you know...> Duchess sighed from his arms, blinking and making Aki laugh softly, watching him with a deadpan look, cocking his head this way and that way at the fish and its pitiful attempts at actually attacking them.
"Uhm...We don't eat Magicarps..." Aki soon stated rather bluntly, peering at the pokemon in the pond. How'd it get there anyway?

<Rock. Rock. Rock. Rock.> The Magikarp repeated, flopping around up and down like a fish being electrocuted. He really was quite stupid, but he did think that the repetition of the word 'rock' was making him quite rock-like. Already the feel of the water was starting to bother him, and he felt like splashing more vigorously than before. What did rocks look like, anyways? He tried to imagine his skin turning a deathly grey, but it wasn't quite working. Perhaps if he repeated the word more, he would turn into a rock?
<Huzzam!> A sharp cry echoed throughout the sky as a dark shadow cast upon the splashing Magikarp's body. It steadily grew larger as the figure approached, talons extended as they made a swift grab for the fish's fins. Quite painfully too, since the Magikarp let out a sharp squeal of pain as if flopped about in her grip.
<Rock! I'm a rock! I'm a rock!> The Magikarp repeated, trying to shake itself out of the bird's grip. With his muscle power, he was giving the Spearow quite a run for her money too. She squealed as he was dragged into the pond and back out, trying to pull the Magikarp onto land. It really was an impressive battle of strength!

After a while of watching, there was little more than Aki could do, other than to shake his head in bewilderment, staring at the poor fish in the tiny pond. "You're not a rock..." He soon sighed, Duchess nodding slowly from his arms before repeating quietly. <We're not gonna eat you...Really...> Came her soft mumble, large ears flicking back, drooping as she watched the poor fish, almost feeling sorry for it.
Though her pity was short lived, soon replaced with the instinctual snap of her mind at the cry and the shadow that descended upon them all. Instantly she was trying to burrow into an even more confused Aki's chest, squealing in fright. She knew spearows, oh yes, she knew them! Knew that they were mean!
So with the combination of the squealing of the Magikarp and the squeals from his own pokemon, Aki growled softly, doing the first thing that came to mind. "Notre! Use confusion on the Spearow! Try to get the Magikarp away!"

::spearow:: ::magikarp:: Pkmn battle ! The waves of confusion emitted by the mechanical pokemon hit not only the determined Spearow, but the Magikarp as well. Giving a squeal of pain, the fish wriggled even harder and caused the bird to give up and unlatch her claws from the orange flesh of the fish.
Now she turned towards Forte. Who were these two to intrude on nature's cycle of life? Besides, there were so many of the dumb Magikarps just wasting away in Route 1 - better to have less than more, she believed. The stupid things were full of healthful vitamins and minerals, but only as long as you could crack their bony figure open to get at the tough flesh they housed.
Infuriated at the trainer's interception of her predatory action, she launched herself at the Bronzor with her sharp beak outstretched.
Believing his "rock" disguise was going to work, the flopping fish continued to chant it over and over again. Too bad he didn't know rocks weren't orange, didn't say their names over and over, and didn't move, among other things.
Spearow used Peck on Forte! Magikarp used Splash.

"Aw crap..." Came the sigh from Aki when he saw that Forte's attack had hit the Spearow, but also the Magikarp as well. Though the fish still flopped along, that was a good thing, right? If it wasn't, he was ready to ignore that small factor anyways; favoring instead to growl at the bird launching at his pokemon. "Try to dodge it!"
Though the bird was quick, and the beak hit the blue side of the round flat pokemon, a droning sound signaling that the attack did indeed hurt, though it was hardly enough to get the Bronzor to back down. "That's it! Now use confusion again on it! Ignore the Magikarp for now." Aki soon cheered from his corner, grinning like a fool. These battles were exciting when he was in on the middle of them, not just looking at them from the outside as a nurse joy's assistant. Now he could see why pokemon trainers loved to battle so. "You got this Fort!"
With beeing cheered on, the Bronzor peered back, blinking at it's human before refocusing its eyes, now turning violet as it readied another attack, back on the spearow.

NOTES; there you go MUSE; this gave me inspiration TAGS; Toxique. POKEMON; SPEAROW (F), MAGIKARP (M) ::magikarp:: Magikarp was hardly listening, or even paying attention to what the trainer was doing. So determined was he to convince Spearow that he was a rock, that nothing else mattered at the moment. <Rock. Rock. Rock, rock, rock!> He repeated that single word with such passion and determination that it almost started to sound like a tune as it was droned over and over again. <Rock! Rock, rock!> It was obvious that he was a few cents short of a dime, as had been pointed out by one of the other Pokemon earlier, but you couldn't condone the poor fish for trying could you? He'd certainly be a much more intimidating rock once he evolved, and then no one would try and gobble him up.
The Spearow was now ignoring her once-potential prey, more focused on the trainer that had interrupted it's retrieval. Honestly, couldn't the boy and his Pokemon see that the circle of life would be much better off without that blubbering orange addition? It thought it could convince them it was a rock, for goodness sakes! Shaking her feathered head in exasperation, the bird let out an angered shriek as the attack enveloped her a second time.
This time, however, the attack managed to live up to it's name. She felt her balance thrown off as he vision wavered slightly, confusing her immensely. What was was right? Or, erm, left, for that matter? Better yet, what way was straight?! It was very clear that the attack had affected her, for she tottered around uncertainly for a moment. However, she noticed a Bronzor-colored blur, and lunged toward it with an attack, hoping that even with her disoriented aim, she'd be able to Peck at the mechanical Pokemon.

While the two pokemon battled, Duchess shifted and squirmed in Aki's arms until he slowly let her go and she could skirt around the flying and steel type, approaching the poor, sad little Magikarp in the pool. After a moment she slowly dipped her head, though her eyes and ears alert for the Spearow, wondering if it would see her approach the poor fish and attack her because of such. But after a moment of worriedly watching the bird, she turned her head down and nosed the poor fish, cocking her small head to and fro.
<My human will protect you, so you don't have to be a rock...> She muttered, Aki watching her and the battle at the same time, shaking his head at her attempts. Such a kind little pokemon, but that could maybe get her some trouble later on.
But his attention swapped back to the Bronzor again, a slow grin taking up his face as he shifted, watching the spearow wobble some. "Good job Fort!" He called again, watching the blue pokemon wobble himself from the peck, shaking the sting off just before the bird lunged forward again, his mind turning at what to tell his pokemon to do. "Try and topple it over with a tackle Fort! Use its attack against it!" Yes, the peck would hit again, but hopefully the rewards would outweigh the consequences.

The Magikarp let his gaze at the Nidoran soften once he sensed her good intentions. Letting his flopping turn into more of a gentle drifting in the pond, his normally blank stare seemed to turn into one of thought. Perhaps he did contain some sort of thought process after all, except it was most certainly rusty. He blamed the dirty water he was in; perhaps a different environment would make him feel smarter.
<...not a rock.> His tried to say what the Nidoran wanted to hear, eager to please this new ally of his. Heck, he was even willing to call her his friend. If she was willing to stand by him to protect him in case the Spearow came back for him, then she couldn't be that bad. He inched a little out of the pond, straining to get a good view at the fight behind the Nidoran. From what it looked, her blue companion was duking it out with the bird.
::magikarp::
<Geez. You hit like a rock.> The Spearow complained after being tackled by the Bronzor, falling to the ground while clutching her injured beak. Her soft wings brushed against it, as if sensitive to the touch, and she sent a spiteful Leer at her opponent. Perhaps her weakened beak would be able to make some decent strikes if his defense was lowered.
Even though it hurt to attack with it, she knew it was her only weapon on hand. The Spearow took to the air to face off with the levitating Bronzor, and with a steely glare, charged forth with another Peck attack. She was willing to strike anywhere on his body, just as long as it hit the strange looking thing.
