Felix Crowley Savage i’m ready to crawl on my knees to know it all Route One was what Felix expected: simple yet wild.
Thick slabs of stone cut through the vegetation to form a narrow path that led to civilization. The brush surrounding the tapered trail was dense and untamed. Its heavy branches were cluttered with droopy leaves that would all too often reach out and snag at Felix’s clothing. Amidst the colors of forest green and brown, jagged spheres of grey would protrude from the scenery; rocks ranging in size of that of his eyeball to that of a small vehicle. The woodlands were sprinkled with a vast number of thin, moss-coated trees that reached up into the near heavens. Rays of afternoon sunlight trickled past a brightened canopy of autumn gold, red, and orange.
However the harsh wind had yet to give in, and it continuously scraped its claws against the forest. It caused the trees and other native plants to sway violently, causing filtered light to drastically shift from spot to spot. Even the seasonal flowers were having a rough time of it - they losing their beautiful petals to the breeze.
The Skorupi Pokémorph advanced further into the wooded area; he felt the earth crunching underneath his weight. His habitual thoughts were nagging him to extract his notebook and pin down what he saw and felt. For now, Felix managed to fight off the need to indulge in his comfort object. He knew what was entering his field of vision - and as for his emotions - they were irrelevant to the situation (thus dismissible). He also understood what he should be doing. He should be acquainting himself with his newly obtained starter and trying to trek as far as possible before nightfall in five-to-six hours. He could write in his notebook then - after making camp and fulfilling a typical day as a trainer.
A sigh crept past his thin lips as he gazed down to the Pokéball still ensnared within his clutches. His grey thumb grazed over its center, tapping a button, which caused the sphere to expand. He turned the device so it faced away from his body, before an erratic stream of crimson fled from the ball. That energy soon gathered and took form of a sea lion pup. In the next moment, large black eyes gazed up at him; he found his own orbs traveling down to meet the stare. The Seel twisted his chubby head, but after a mere second, he reared back on his lower torso, lifted his chest and began to bark and slap his fins together. Rather loudly too.
The teenager rose an eyebrow, and once the little performance ceased, began to speak. "I’m Felix. And you are my pet."
Honestly, the Seel would have preferred better terminology being used, though he didn’t truly mind. He sensed the human -- err -- Pokémorph was new, rigid, and so was he (being basically a toddler and all). <Gotcha boss.> He lowered his fatty build to the ground, relaxing on the cool surface of the stone.
"I can understand you..." Felix muttered, an amazed look painted on his features.
<Congratulations?> the beast replied, confused, but made no further indication to speak.
"No. I was unaware that Pokémon could break the language barrier, that’s all." he responded, trying to remain nonchalant; sadly inside his head a bit of his sanity slipped. A worldly, physical law was just shown to be false in the damn moment that thing knew English. Could it write too (well if it had fingers)? What other tongues did it know? "You’re outstanding." he added quietly, which caused the duel water and ice type to beam.
<You ain’t too bad yourself, mister.> he nearly purred.
An extended paused occurred, until the humanoid scorpion decided it best to say something. "Your name will be Panic." That title perhaps branched off of how Felix felt at the moment; surely he’ll grow used to this magic nonsense?
"We need to find a stream. There’s bound to be one around here." Felix added, looking Panic over. If they were to battle effectively, it would be best if the pup could move around within his own element.
Once gathering himself and a sense of direction, he turned to begin trekking off course to locate a source of water. As he went, he returned the Seel to his cage (with a promise to be let out soon) and continued with his current mission.

Having recently emerged from his den after a night of foraging for dry leaves, a Rattata's dark violet fur peaked through the bushes of green and orange. With whiskers tentatively poking through each crack and opening, he hesitated before emerging into a brief clearing in the route. Several birds above in the great blue sky startled him, sending him into a frightened dash back into the safety of the foliage.
He paused beneath the leafy entrance to his haven, looking in all directions with his heart beating wildly. So much, that it actually hurt, and his legs were trembling with fear and anxiety. He gasped for air to calm himself down, and once getting back to a somewhat normal state of mind, he went back into the clearing. He still had a mission to do, and providing him room with dry bedding was his top priority. How could he stay in such a place if he kept wetting the bed? Goodness, he needed to sleep in a dry place, not something all wet and gross.
<Eep.> The Rattata flinched at the sound of footsteps in the ground, visibly freezing as all thoughts left his mind. Carefully, he looked around the area for any signs of the source of the sound. Very soon, a human appeared out of no where, nearly scaring his heart out of his body. Gasping, the Rattata could only stare up at the big human in fear.

The Skorupi Pokémorph’s long strides had managed to put a good amount of distance between himself and the sandstone path. Unfortunately he had yet to locate a river of any sort- though a moist scent had recently invaded his nostrils, indicating it wasn’t far ahead. However, just as the male clambered over a mossy, near-rotted log, did an unfamiliar noise captured his interest. He ceased his movements, teal eyes searching out for its source until falling upon the rogue monster.
"Hello there." Felix began coolly, his long scorpion tail flicking behind him at random.
Without removing his gaze from the purple thing, his arm crept into one of his back jean pockets. A Pokédex was withdrawn and soon a computerized voice filled the surrounding air. Its clumsy cords dominated the sounds of the woodland; it spouting off data about the species of Rattata. After it had finished its speech, Felix discarded the machine into a fold of his satchel.
Overall, he didn’t find the rat Pokémon all too intriguing. In fact, given the expression the creature wore, he felt guilty for disturbing it. Yet this was his first wild encounter; a professional trainer by now would begin to act.
"I apologize, but it seems I’m going to have to make the rest of your day go unpleasantly." he stated, yanking out Panic’s prison before tossing it several feet into the air. The Pokéball cracked open, and like before a line of crimson shot downwards to where it would take solid shape. Just as the sphere returned to him, the chubby little Seel took form.
The sea lion at first peered around as if expecting to spot water, though seeing only forest, his gaze fled to the normal type.
"We are having a battle, Panic." the teenager began, pausing for a brief second to recall their move-set. With a nod he continued, "Slide closer to it and use a Lick." Hopefully that attack would paralyze the Rattata - or if not - it would draw Panic closer to keep it from escaping.
The Seel used its heavy weight to pounce forward (a bit slowly, but effectively); he was heading for his foe, tongue out, ready to slobber all of the poor mammal.

Rattata blinked as the Pokeball flew through the air, releasing a fluffy white Seel who proceeded to lick him with such force his small form was upended and plonked down on its rear with a painful crash. Scrambling to his feet with wide eyes like golf balls, his large buck teeth prominent as sweat ran down his face, he began to flee, panting in fear and fatigue as he tried to find his den again. A warm sensation was building in his legs. Oh God, he couldn't wet himself now. Not now! Rattata is leaving. Interfere?

Hell yes.
Felix watched in mild amusement as his Seel coated their opponent in a blanket of sticky saliva. The Rattata was forced to the ground below, yet given a moment to catch itself, it sprung back to life. Seemingly the attack had failed to bring about a status condition and now the beast was attempting to flee. It was scurrying away much like a bat out of Hell and the duo would have to act quickly to interfere in its getaway.
"It’s trying to escape, Panic. Don’t let that happen." he ordered, watching an almost two-hundred pound sea lion flopped after it. Given his age and high amounts of energy, the water type was surprisingly swift (though it was clear if this continued the Rattata would in fact retreat safely).
<C-come back! I-I just want t-to fight you!> Panic panted, though frustrated and without instructions, he used all of his strength to pounce forward. Having land closer to the normal type, he trusted his thick skull in its direction to try and stop the monster.

The Rattata was sent flying by the sudden Headbutt, yet still tried to run away, terrified of the huge Seel before him. Eyes glimmering in terror, he scrambled to his feeet and tried to run, but he was limping now. If only he could get back to his burrow and rest... He had just wanted to forage for leaves and have one dry night. Just one dry night! Turning around in a desperate attempt to get the Seel off his back, he launched at it in a Tackle attack, before continuing his desperate attempt to get away. Rattata used Tackle.
Rattata is weakened. Attempt capture or continue fighting?

The onslaught had stuck full force and the unfortunate rat was sent hurtling into the undergrowth. Yet still it amazingly scampered to its wobbly feet; it was frantic in its movements.
The Seel looked on - scowling at his foe and once again, without an order, growled at the Rattata. The snarl was a flaunt of intimidation with Panic’s droopy lips curled upwards, teeth bared and all.
"Good job, you’re a natural." Felix spouted off in the background, eyes drifting between the two monsters.
Suddenly the normal type hurled itself toward the sea lion. Thinking fast, the Skorupi Pokémorph pried open his grey lips to speak, "Meet it head on with another Headbutt!".
Panic did just that, countering the attack with his own. He took damage, though continued to force his skull into the purple beast - using the momentum of his weight to drive onward. After which, he’d set off in chase of his fleeing prey.

::rattata:: Pkmn encounter ! The deep, frightening growl emitted by Panic served to instill even more fear and dread into the anxious rattata, which served to speed up the rodent even more. Pain split through his head as it came in contact with the seel's skull, accompanied with its itty bitty horn, which caused a small scratch to go along with the aching pain in his head. Adrenaline coursed through the critter, who began, irrationally, fearing for his life.
Rattata was feeling the fear course through his veins and now it took effort not to just give up and faint at the hands of the battle-hungry pair. However, he pressed on, attempting to leave a trail of dust behind him rather than two trailing strangers. Adrenaline beat through his muscles, raising his already increasing speed. If this kept up, the rodent would surely get away.
Rattata is attempting to flee! Rattata is weak - it is possible to attempt capture.

The normal type still attempted to retreat back to the safety of its soggy (urine coated) den. As it scampered past, its strong hind legs swept up a cloud of dirt in its wake. The suspended minerals wafted en route for the Seel; it stung his black, crystal ball eyes and made them water profusely. Panic blinked several times in an effort to bat the element away, yet he never gave in the chase. After all his trainer instructed they’d do battle and that’s exactly what the sea lion sought to accomplish. Unfortunately the Rattata was a faster creature than himself, which made apprehending it difficult.
Felix growled deeply once he realized the mammal was once again making a break for it. On the television and in books about the mêlée subject, the monsters always seemed to viciously retaliate. This Rattata was clearly not fitting into the mold of what he researched and it frustrated the male. With another hiss, the humanoid scorpion sprinted closer; his long legs brought him near the stage of the game of cat and mouse. His mouth opened and he ordered the Seel to perform a sequence of actions, which Panic nodded in understanding.
In the next moment the water type leaped into the air and landed in arms reach of his foe. Upon impact, he felt pebbles and twigs jetting into his soft underbelly. He winced in pain, yet he lashed his head forward, tongue hanging out to try and wrestle the Rattata down with that muscle alone.

Rattata thought he was home free, allowing a wide, toothy smile of delight to appear on his face as his burrow came into sight. Bounding towards it, he was stopped when the Seel intercepted him again. Sweating in fear and unable to dodge aside, the Lick got him straight in the face, and he was forced into a painful back flip and landed on his head. His vision blurring, he looked in sorrow at his burrow before giving in to unconsciousness. To add insult to injury, he felt a warm trickle down his leg before the blackness took him. Great. He'd peed himself. The little rat's embarrassment was complete. ::rattata:: Rattata has fainted. Panic gains a level.

The strike, instead of restricting the nimble Rattata, pushed the creature over its physical edge. It was sent veering into the brush before it promptly lost consciousness. Though upon further inspection, it seemed that its bladder gave way due to the stress. A stream of urine trickled down its legs; it flickered brightly in contracts with its purple and cream hued coat.
Felix wrinkled his nose. He understood that given the situation, "relieving" oneself was a coping mechanism, but it was still unsightly. However his attention quickly drifted over to his rather proud looking sea lion. There were several faint scratches embedded upon his stomach - all of which Panic obtained from attempting to move at high speeds on solid earth. The battle would surely have gone more effectively if submerged within his natural element. Then again if they did stay near the water, they undoubtedly wouldn’t have met the rat Pokémon to begin with. But either way, they were victorious and had retained minor injuries.
"I am impressed with you." The boy stated, waltzing closer to the Seel. Once near enough, he crouched lower to the ground and offered the water type an affectionate pat. Panic gave a throaty bark and began to slap his fins together; undoubtedly a sign of returned fondness.
<I know! I was so cool! I felt like Tigger from Winnie the Pooh!>
The Skorupi Pokémorph grinned at Panic’s words, finding the resemblance amusing. Yet given another moment, his teal eyes wandered back to the beaten and damaged normal type. While he wanted to fulfill his requirement as a trainer, he felt a bit guilty for ruining the Rattata’s afternoon.
With a sigh, Felix hunched forward and picked the mammal up by the scruff of its neck. He gathered several large, fan-like leaves and after locating a decent nook between the rocks, made a bed for the thing. He laid the monster down before stretching out his legs and returning to his normal height of six-foot-six.
"We still need to find that river." he informed the Seel, who by now was basking lazily in a patch of sunlight.
<Please.> Panic responded, and soon he was sucked back inside the Pokéball that was considered to be his home. Felix pocketed the contraption and continued to follow the moist scent, hoping to find a brook or waterway.

Indeed, the moist scent in the air was starting to grow in concentration. It was swelling up, having a funky fresh scent that started to cross the area. The surrounding area was a popular area for Wild Pokemon that needed the water source to survive, and many could get protective over it. In the distance, the sound of battling could be heard as growls and attacks collided with one another.
One of the natives visibly shrunk and retreated in a retrograde fashion so he wouldn't be involved. Violence wasn't the answer he liked to resort to, especially when tempers flared like that. Moving through the bushes and dead leaves on the ground, the Hoppip heard heavy footsteps walk by. He flinched at the sound, watching nervously as a human walked by.
Thinking about using this trainer's strength to his advantage, he started to follow the trainer, knowing that he must be curious about the river as well. Or he was lost. Either way, if the boy was headed to the water source, then he should gain some protection from other violent Pokemon. Smart thinking, eh?

Felix trekked onwards through the woodland; the thick scent of water was noticeably intensifying. However when the odor reached its proverbial peak, harsh, violent noises echoed betwixt the mossy trees. There were growls and snarls - and a mixture of sounds that seemed as if hard, unyielding substances were smacking together. It was the familiar resonance of a battle (while his last encounter did not sound as such (due to its nature), those upon the television had). Needless to say the teenager was intrigued, and as vigilantly as his legs would carry him, crept closer to the battlefield.
Entangled within the web of his own curiosity, the scorpion did in fact not notice the grass type. He wandered by the Hoppip; he wasn’t even aware of its presence whenever it began to trail him. Instead, the grey-skinned boy was concentrated on remaining silent so he could witness the conflict from afar. One of the last things he thought would be wise was to draw on the attention of a ravenous pack of wild Pokémon. Sure, he believed he could beat off one monster at a time, but it would be considered cruel to have Panic deal with such a high volume.
When the Skorupi Pokémorph alleged he was near the riverbed, he widened a gap between the undergrowth. He wouldn’t dare go through yet, thus he simply observed the situation.

As the sounds of the fight grew louder and louder, the Hoppip no longer felt safe in this area and fled in fright. The leaves that he stepped on in the process made a loud, annoying crunch that temporarily stopped the battling Pokemon. From the looks of it, they were two different species of birds duking it out. The Taillow was the most injured, completely soaked in water. As it flew around her opponent with narrowed eyes, the Wingull elegantly rose up in the air to make her a difficult target.
<Fool. You think you can evade me for long? The Taillow hissed, charging ahead with a Peck attack. Her beak glowed weakly, since it was a low powered attack, but it would still do some damage if it hit. The Wingull remained confident and ducked out of harms way, and right as the Taillow zoomed past her, she shot out another Water Gun at the bird's backside. Propelled by the stream of water, the Taillow crashed into the nearest tree and fainted.
The Wingull snickered to herself as she landed gently on the ground, a little injured, but still able to fight. What they had been fighting over? Two Oran Berries on the ground that neither wanted to share. She plucked the first one from its spot and munched it down, getting nearly up to full health in the process.

Interesting.
The combatants were in fact two bird-like creatures. While both were fairly small in size and covered in downy feathers, neither looked remarkably similar. His eyes fled to the gravely wounded sparrow; despite its shortcomings it was a fierce creature.
Quickly the grey-skinned trainer searched throughout the flaps of his shoulder-bag until producing his Pokédex. Pointing the device at the Taillow- information concerning the species was uttered to him - quite loudly. He cursed in a coarse voice: he failed to remember that the machine wasn’t meant for sneaky researching. Growling, he aimed the mechanical thing at the seagull to record additional data. If the jig was up there was no reason to remain soundless. And he might as well gather all the statistics as humanly possible anyway.
In the next moment, the tri-colored monster zoomed straight for its opponent. Finally his interested drifted toward the elegant Wingull to witness how it would retaliate. Like a nimble dancer the water bird twirled out of the path of danger before striking with a stream of liquid. That last onslaught collided with the tiny-swallow Pokémon and was sent crashing into a nearby tree. It hit the ground below, remaining motionless. If the beast was dead or unconscious, Felix couldn’t tell from this distance.
Flicking his scorpion tail behind him, the male pulled himself from the brush into clear view. He double checked if Panic’s Pokéball was inside his jean pocket and hurriedly wandered over to the fainted flying type. Momentarily he gazed over at the Wingull; he believed it wouldn’t enjoy his presence (why would it?) whatsoever as it nibbled on a piece of fruit. Realizing that the monster could in reality assault him he withdrew his starter’s sphere. It was tossed into the air, and like magic the light from its core escaped into the river itself.
Soon a very satisfied Seel was rolling around in the cool depths -- the water felt so magnificent thanks to the autumn temperatures. His black eyes opened, staring over at the Wingull then his master (who towered over a Taillow). Panic wasn’t exactly surprised by the situation, but it was obvious he was curious.
<So, what’s up?> he eventually asked after an awkward moment of silence. ::modcoin::

::taillow:: Pokemon encounter ! The Wingull stayed complacent though a rather unique-looking human was tramping shamelessly around her. She'd seen the likes of him around and thus held no fear for his kind, including him. Instead, she concentrated on the sweet juices of the berry she was eating, made even sweeter for the fact that she'd worked hard for them. Such telltale injuries from the battle were scattered over her feathered body, some bleeding just slightly and others only inflaming.
Her concentration was broken, however, when a large, white creature appeared in the waters next to her. Some droplets flew up, hitting the Wingull, who hardly cared since it felt great in this mild heat. However, the alerted bird's meal had been disturbed and she turned to stare back at the one who had splashed her. He offered a question.
After leaning back and swallowing the bit of berry she had been munching, the avian gave an answer. <Oh. Nothing. Good. Average, I'd say.> She rambled, before turning and cleaning at her bloodied feathers.
Beneath the shadow of Felix, the fainted, drenched body of the Taillow lay silent. There was no motion, no sign that the bird was going to wake up soon, except for the slight twitching of her legs, which stuck up into the air like pins on a pincushion.

The seagull had not shown aggression to either Panic or Felix. A relieved sigh heaved from the trainer, causing his firm chest to momentarily swell. While he yearned to make the Seel praiseworthy and strong, he was anxious to battle the water bird. It unmistakably held the knowledge and experience of a true fighter; a considerable improvement from a meager Rattata. They could lose. He and his starter could be seriously injured by simply performing an incorrect movement. That detail flickered more clearly upon his interest revisiting the bloody and bruised flying type.
His forehead creased - brow furrowing downwards - yet despite his discomfort he doted over the Taillow. Felix occasionally would reach out a finger and gently pet undamaged spots in an affectionate manner. It was a pretty thing underneath all the red splotches and awkwardly bent feathers.
Meanwhile, the white pup awaited a reply. It did not come from his master but rather a nearby Wingull, who was feasting upon something blue.
<Ah. Well. Yes. Thank you.> he responded in a choppy fashion.
Panic gazed around once more, as if expecting something more exciting to occur. Quite, he was thankful to once more be submerged in water, but wasn’t attending a adventure supposed to be sewn with thrills? Or something along those lines, yes?
Suddenly the water type gave a surprised bark right as his vision fell upon an Oran berry. He absolutely loved those things! He remembered after being weaned off his mother’s milk that she’d often bring him an array of fruits and fish. And well, those Oran thingamabobs were just so tasty!
Without second guessing his actions, the Seel lunged forward in an attempt to gobble down the bit of food. He wasn’t even thinking about the Wingull and the fact that both of those berries were already claimed.

The Wingull stared awkwardly at the Seel as he offered next to nothing to the conversation, leaving her to wonder what his purpose here really was as she munched on the rest of berry number one. With her health completely restored, she made a grab for another berry simply to satisfy the rest of her hunger when some rude oaf nabbed it first. ’You have GOT to be kidding me!’ She thought in shock as the Seel gulped down an Oran berry, watching as its healing effects occurred. There was no doubt that it happened, at least in her mind. Whenever one ate an oran berry, its healing effects were immediate. She nearly slammed her head on the ground out of pure annoyance at the sight, feeling like her battle with the Taillow was such a waste.
<D-do you know what you just did?! I fought that freaking Taillow over there for those berries! See what I did to her? That’s what I’m about to do to you, you fool!> She chattered in pure rage, glaring at the Seel hatefully for his lack of manners. Staying on the ground, she raised her wings threateningly to make herself appear bigger. Surely that would frighten the big white doofus over there, and to add more of a sting to her words, she used an annoying Supersonic on him.
The Taillow twitched when she felt someone’s presence near her, and struggled to open her eyes. Yes, she felt the strong need for sleep, but she had to wake up. What if someone was trying to eat her? She slowly got up with a pained wince in her eyes, panicking a little when she found a Skorupi morph right by her. Hissing in fear, she backed up in a retrograde manner from his body, looking around wildly for something to hide in.

The Oran berry didn’t stand a chance against a maul sprinkled with dagger-like teeth. A fang effortlessly penetrated the skin of the fruit and soon its delicious core was breached too. Bitter juice spewed out of its wounds; Panic’s muzzle was promptly drenched in the spotty blue liquid. A shiver traveled down the length of his spine, which caused patches of his fur to stand on end at the tasty sensation. Moreover the minor injuries from his previous battle literally disappeared, as if a wand twirling magician worked their magic.
By this point the sea lion was in a personal heaven and obviously paid little to no mind to the awestricken bird to his right. When the Wingull began to speak, did finally the chubby water type divert his attention. She squawked and complained, which caused his ears to ring in displeasure at the sound.
<Wow, you’re pretty annoying.> he scoffed, unaware by the irony of his statement. A low rumble vibrated in his throat before the Seel continued, <And really rude too!>
The seagull now was lifting its wings upwards - feathers buffed - was this thing trying to terrorize him? He blinked, quickly putting a figure on the creatures' weight: it had to be no more than twenty-five pounds. And he was near two-hundred; Panic figured if he rolled over he could probably squish the flying nuisance. However that train of thought was interrupted after floating rings shot from the Wingull’s open beak. Those bands of gold stuck him, and for a moment he was disoriented, but thanks to his thick skull he speedily fought off the confusion.
Felix realized what was occurring and his attention returned to his starter. Though seconds before the Taillow had awakened in a start. She put a small distance between her and the Skorupi Pokémorph, while continuing to locate a safe spot to hide. The male hoped the bird would be unsuccessful to move much further; he wanted to interact with her later. As guilty as he felt, he expected her damaged self wouldn’t make it very far in a short period of time.
"Panic, you goof." Felix sighed, teal eyes trailing over to the twin water and flying type. Despite his anxiety concerning doing combat with the beast, he no longer had much of a choice. "Start off with a Lick.", he commanded loud enough to be overheard by the sound of the rushing brook.
The Seel lunged straight forward, his tongue darting for the poor Wingull. That muscle was soaked in slobber: if the paralysis didn’t take effect, at least its down would be heavier due to the spit.

<A-Annoying? And you’re one to talk about being rude. You’ve got berry juice dripping out of your mouth, you slob.> She remarked, feeling a bit of worry when she realized just how big the Seel really was. It was an intimidating Pokemon for something that looked so pure and innocent, but alas, she was small and he was big. That was a difference enough to make her feel like the weaker Pokemon here. She refused to back down though, even though she was probably at a level disadvantage, she still had to give it her best shot. She beat that Taillow and grew stronger from it, so why couldn’t she take on this idiot?
<I don’t taste like chicken!> She cried as the Seel lunged with his first move; a sloppy tongue reaching out at her face, trying to gross her out. The cold, slimy tongue was covered with the ice type’s breath, and she shuddered as the drool dripped off of her. Wiping it away with a wing, she glared at the Seel for trying such dirty tricks on her. It was a weak move, at least. Hardly doing any damage on her, regardless of how strong the Seel was.
She opened up her golden colored beak, making the same stance as before with her Supersonic, but this time something different came out. Instead of sound it was…water? It was a shot of water that was sent at the Seel’s face, hoping to get some payback from that berry eating thief. She might’ve been good at battling, but she wasn’t experienced with fighting other water types.
