s c a r l e t t c a t a l y n n Scarlett once again found herself wandering back here, but what for this time..? Perhaps inside her, she felt a need to be around others. For years she'd been so secluded from the world, so caught up in her studies. And Sierra and her friends had abandoned her even before that.
But her loneliness didn't stop her from bearing an aura of hostility as she walked in through the doors, looking around at the strange faces before walking over to the side and sitting down.
She'd obtained quite a few new faces already whom she hadn't introduced herself to. Taking two pokeballs from her belt, she allowed her Poochyena and Pichu to exit. Her stare softened as she looked upon them, but only slightly. "You'll be named Ceir," She said, indicating the dog who showed no response, "And you'll be Kei." She turned towards the Pichu.
Ceir merely sat down a small distance away from Scarlett, looking out at battling and interacting trainers. Kei tilted her head, looking up and down at her new trainer. <K-Kei,> Pichu repeated, pointing to herself. The only response was a nod from Scarlett. Satisfied, the mouse pokemon continued to stare at her new trainer. Scarlett simply stared ahead, wondering if Verona had some sort of eatery she could visit later.

He was in the mood to battle. Pokemon healed up, and resolve strengthened, he stroked Artemis' glamorous pink fur as he smiled at her. "You were wonderful," he assured the kitten, who gave a soft mew and rolled over to expose her stomach. Unlike a few TD members he'd met thus far, he would never attempt to harm his team. "I'm sorry that I pushed you that far. It wasn't fair and-"
<Hush,> she scolded, mrrrowing in amusement as she flipped back over and nipped his finger affectionately. <You know that you had to do it, and so do we! Stop apologizing, Joshua! Eris and I both don't hold it against you!>
Eris, who was washing herself a few feet away, sitting on the end of Joshua's bed, flicked her ears in agreement. Josh merely smiled. "Well are you up for fighting again? Once the Gym Leader of Electric City comes back, I do plan to challenge her..."
Both nodded enthusiastically, and that was that. Fifteen minutes later, they were wandering into the trainers lounge, his two cats sitting on either shoulder. It was rather comical, but Joshua's expression was far from amusing. However, it's intensity melted as he spotted a girl, jerking his head in greeting. "Double battle?" he suggested.

s c a r l e t t c a t a l y n n Scarlett hadn't lounged there for long before the tall figure neared her, his only greeting a simple head jerk. What was odd, though, was that there were two cats just perched on either of his shoulders. She could even describe it as adorable.
She stood up and looked at Joshua in the eye. "Yes," She accepted, desiring some excitement to light up this drabby day. Although it was clear that her two weakest wouldn't survive against the tough-looking cat Pokémon Josh bore, they needed the experience of a trainer battle either way. It'd be a test to see how much they could withstand.
Calling back Ceir and Kei, she took out Sugar and Desiree and allowed them to exit their pokeballs. Sugar rubbed his eyes and looked around before he located the man in front of him and realized that Scarlett had called him out for battle. Desiree came out as well, and was excited to see that they were in a building full of trainers she could greet. It was irresistible - she had to meet one! The squirrel took a few steps away towards a young female trainer with an oddish. "Des," Scarlett called irritably. Not wanting to anger her new leader, the Sentret sprang back into place.
The Cleffa saw the two cats and knew instantly that they were super strong. <A-are you nuts?!> He squeaked, aiming somewhat of a frantic stare back at Scarlett. "It'll be alright," She dismissed casually.

Noticing that she didn't order her Pokemon to attack, Joshua took this to mean that he could make the first move. He had certainly given her the option, a lull in his speech as he'd waited for her response, but she'd merely confirmed the desire to battle before sending out two... erm, sickeningly adorable foes. The Cleffa was beyond cute, and the Sentret seemed nice and fluffy. How awkward. But still, this was a fight, and fight they would.
"Right, you two," he said, speaking to the Pokemon perched on his shoulders, who jumped down in unison, their paws making a soft thud on the floor. "You know what moves we always use, hmm?"
Eris smirked, and Artemis giggled, before both cats exchanged a nod and lunged forward together, both aiming for a separate foe. They made it out to look like Eris would be going for Cleffa, and Artemis Sentret, but they swerved at the last minute and attacked the opposite foe. Double Fake Out, Joshua's favorite move for the feline team.

s c a r l e t t c a t a l y n n It wasn't a very good idea to allow her opponent to go first, she knew, but it wasn't very clearly indicated that she had a choice. Well, it didn't really make a difference; she was ready for defeat, anyway. The experience would also do her Pokémon some good.
Moves they always use? Oh geez. He had a technique, it seemed. And it was clear his Pokémon were avid, confident battlers. She was definitely screwed, she realized, watching the cats approach her two slightly quivering Pokémon. "Dodge," She commanded instinctively. Fake Out was an unavoidable move, she'd forgotten, but her two Pokémon still attempted to avoid it.
However, the felines suddenly changed targets, catching them off-guard. Sentret, having little experience battling against a trainer's pokemon, could not dodge the real strike, and recoiled from the pain of Eris' raking claws. She let out a cry of pain as the damage set in, then slumped to the floor.
Sugar saw the attack coming and attempted to dodge, but he was too slow; Artemis' assault did considerable damage on him. He was left with only a string of energy. The effects of the attack left him unable to move as well, and he could only watch the two powerful cats with weary eyes.
Scarlett bit her lip, but tried not to show any sign of dissapointment. Taking out Desiree's pokeball, she called the Sentret back in. She tightened her grip around the sphere a bit to show the squirrel she'd done good, then placed the pokeball back into her bag. It was up to Sugar now - if he had a chance, even.
To be honest, she would have called him back by now. But she wanted to see if he could learn anything from this. For now, she'd have to simply feel terrible and get over it later.

Well, this was certainly a very quiet battle. The two trainers were only speaking to their Pokemon, not each other. However, Joshua was not scowling nor glaring at the other trainer, which was an improvement. It appeared that the boy was in a good mood, or at least better than usual.
One of his opponents Pokemon fainted on impact, and Joshua merely blinked. "Good job," he told Eris, smirking softly, and the wiry feline purred and brushed her cheek against his calf affectionately. He also gave an approving nod in Artemis' direction. The pink femme had not managed to KO her foe - what level was it, anyways? It certainly didn't seem too strong - but she'd done as Joshua had asked, and that was all he ever really wanted from his team. 'Do your best' was his usual requirement.
"Artemis, it's too early in the fight to be tired," he said, inadvertently hinting at something. "Don't quit while you're ahead. And Eris, your mind isn't the only thing that's sharp." Sing and Scratch, respectively. He didn't like to outwardly tell his foes which moves to use, else they'd pick up on what they were to be dodging. That wasn't good.
Artemis started a singing sort of purr, and even Joshua felt himself slightly affected by it. She wasn't aiming at him, however, and so it was only a light fatigue which brushed him. Eris dashed forward whilst flicking out her claws, attempting to put their enemy out of the running.

s c a r l e t t c a t a l y n n Scarlett waited, as did her trembling Cleffa, as the trainer in front of her once more commanded his felines to attack him. Although he must not have felt much for her pokemon, the feelings bottled up inside of her were starting to overflow. What was she doing, leaving Sugar to withstand the power of those two cats? It wouldn't make her any less of a failure.
This is why, as Eris and Artemis began their attacks, Scarlett broke her expression of concentration, scowling at her loss. Extending Sugar's pokeball quickly, she called out, "Sugar, return." Her voice was just a tad louder than it would have been had she kept up her emotionless persona, but now she just didn't care.
She looked up at Josh and thought about whether she should just leave or stay. The battle had been completely humiliating - her Pokémon were down before she could even speak a command. But he seemed like an okay guy, and she didn't really feel like piling up the enemies. She sighed, then let out a little laugh. "I guess you won." She confessed with a little grin. "Challenging, huh?" She joked, referring to her pathetically weak and adorable Pokémon.
Sugar returned.
Eris and Artemis each gain 2 levels. Sugar & Desiree gain 1 each.

"Here you are, Artemis," Joshua said with a smile, handing the kitten a rare candy, which she ate. "Good work."
Her look of concentration wavered, and she almost seemed angry at her loss. Battle over, Joshua relaxed his stance and gave a rare but surprisingly genuine. "I won't lie, it was simple, but I have the advantage of a few month's training. And it's not to say I haven't lost a battle before." Yes, he was definitely in a more approachable mood than usual.
But he noticed something that he'd overlooked in the heat of the battle. Brow creasing, the boy could have sworn this woman bore a very striking resemblance to his friend, Sierra. Of course, she had bigger breasts, was slightly taller, her contact was red and the hat - he approved - was an Absol, but... was there some sort of relation?
He decided not to ask. That could get awkward.
Instead holding out his hand, he introduced himself. "My name is Joshua. This is Eris and Artemis. And you are?"

s c a r l e t t c a t a l y n n "True," Scarlett replied to his humble words. She was relieved that Josh wasn't obnoxious about his victory or her weakness; she hated such people. Instead, he was rather welcoming, even a bit handsome, she realized. She could've sworn that the expression in his eyes changed when he looked at her, but it turned out to be nothing.
He extended his hand to her, which she accepted immediately with her own. Nodding toward him, she returned the formalities. "I'm Scarlett, and they were Sugar and Desiree. Nice to meet you."
She unlatched her grasp from his, not finding much to say. She'd only just met him, and she wasn't the type to really bring up the subjects of conversations.
