Soren looked around the trainer's lounge. His teeth bit on his bottom lip as he tried to figure out how this worked. He wanted to battle another trainer to hone his skill, and this kind of anonymous skirmish would be perfect for what he wanted. There were many trainers casually talking amongst each other in the main lounge, showing off their Pokémon and exchanging battle tips. No, that would not do. Finally, he saw a sign-up desk for Pokémon battles and walked up, glancing to either of his side periodically in case he was doing it wrong. But no one seemed to object and he booked himself a room. "Just wait in there," said the attendant. "I'll send the next trainer in." Soren had just nodded at that and walked through the automatic doors.
The arena was stuffy. The room was too small to maneuver too far off the boundaries and the ceiling was not as high as he would have liked. It would do for now, he supposed. And if he lost, at least it would be in private. His hand reached into his pouch to count his pokeball (just in case) as he waited for the doors to open once again.

Talis entered the building, before going through the automatic doors and signing the sheet, before sitting down and waiting to be called in Well, this was the Trainer's Lounge, so he assumed that his opponent would want a Pokeon battlet. Only too happy to oblige, he beckoned in his Mudkip, Oberon, who stood beside him at the left side of his feet
"Well... hi?" he said to the receptionist, not quite sure what a Trainer should say in a situation like this. "I guess he can make up the rules for this particular battle." Talis shrugged, before looking at Oberon and scratching him between the ears, his heart thumping with adrenaline.

Soren startled a bit when he saw the trainer enter the room but quickly composed himself. He stood there, staring the other trainer down for a moment, waiting for something to happen. Wait, he was in here first, so did that mean that he was to start the battle? What kind of battle would this be, anyways? A double battle, single...? He did not know, but it seemed as if it was up to him. "Single," he managed to choke out. "Until white out." He took out one of his pokeballs and enlarged it, letting out a little bug Pokémon. It wasn't the norm, but Leeta had to learn how to face her fear of losing in battles. Besides, he had decided to keep her for her flying, so it would be wrong of him to simply trap her in the pokeball and send her to his PC. They had made a deal.
With his Pokémon now out of her pokeball, doing little figure eight movements (which brought a hint of a smile on Soren's face), the trainer waited for Talis' move. If he had set the battle rules, it was only right that the other got to start, was it? He hoped he didn't get it all wrong.

A bug Pokemon, huh? Well, Talis had Raptor, but he didn't want to send him out just yet. It was Anna who needed the levels. Taking out the Pokeball containing the little Rattata, Talis threw it, releasing the stubborn purple rat, who saw the Ledyba and immediately went into battle position, glaring at the little bug. "Alright Anna, let's start with a Quick Attack," he commanded, and Anna rushed to obey, moving as fast as she could towards the Ledyba, before aiming a fast strike at it with as much strength as her tiny body could muster. ::rattata:: Anna used Quick Attack.

Soren had still been devising his tactic when the quick attack was issued. Leeta panicked a bit and fluttered around, trying to dodge it, but the speedy was too fast for that. The pokemon held back a few tears. Hadn't her trainer promised her that she would be used in contests, that she wouldn't have to battle? Didn't he promise that he would win for her? Instinctively, she had contracted her body tightly and took the attack right to her abdomen. She winced, but absorbed the incoming energy.
The trainer watched the attack hit with quite a bit of interest. He quickly took out his pokedex and it told him a few words about what had gone on. Well, this would be a different kind of battle, he supposed. "Keep it up," he told the bug pokemon. Leeta just looked back at him, a bit confused and definitely worried. Soren's gaze told her to trust him, that he would lead them to victory. She didn't know whether to believe it or not, but decided that maybe she will take a leap of faith. Bracing herself, she readied for another attack.

Talis wasn't aware of how attacks worked, so when the Ledyba simply braced herself, he assumed she'd disobeyed her Trainer out of pain, and smiled. This was all going remarkably well for his first battle with another Trainer. "Anna. Use Tail Whip and follow it up with a Tackle!" commanded Talis, his voice shaking a little as he did so.. Anna was all too happy to obey, wagging her tail at the Ledyba with a taunting smirk on her face, before rushing at the little bug Pokémon in a Tackle attack. Anna used Tail Whip and Tackle OOC: I've decided to retire Talis from the RP and make a new character, mainly because he was something of a beginner character to get involved in the RP with and doesn't have much personality. I'm gonna make a new character instead. Sorry for the trouble. I'm happy to finish this battle first though.

[mkay, i'll just finish it off then]
The Ledyba was getting more and more worried as she was attacked again, just barely clinging onto the remainder of her health. One more hit, and she would be done for. That tail whip that had distracted her and caused the tackle to hurt much more than it should have did not help her case at all. Leeta's flight was starting to falter. Her delicate wings would not hold her up for much longer and already she was slowly drifting downward. "Unleash," said Soren, in a voice that is not as commanding as he was used to. He too was fearing for his Pokémon. Would he really make her lose her first battle with him? He did not want to, and he was banking everything he had on this bide attack. With two tackles absorbed, it should pack quite a punch, shouldn't it? They attack was good in theory, but practice was always a different story.
The bug Pokémon was a bit unsure at the command. Unleash...? What did her trainer mean? It did not take long for her to understand, though. Those tackles, she had absorbed their energies in her body, storing them deep inside, and now it was time for her to counterattack. Letting it all out, a surge of power flowed through her little body and she threw herself at the rattata. This was all or nothing, and she sure hoped that it would be the former, and not the latter.

Anna let out a squeak as she was hit by the stored energy and flew backwards, hitting the ground with a hard crash. Talis gasped in shock and ran over to the little purple rat, checking she was OK before returning her to her Pokeball and looking at Soren with a small smile.
"Good fight." He then walked out of the door, never to be seen, heard, smelled, touched or tasted again.

Soren had just a tiny smile creep onto his face when he saw that Leeta had won. It was a gamble and his Pokémon was now too weak to battle -- he would have to heal it up -- but a win with the ledyba was a great confidence booster for both trainer and Pokémon. The bug Pokémon in question flew back to her trainer, eyes shining in mirth. The two of them were victors, and even though she was extremely tired and in pain, the rush of victory kept her in the air. She attempted to fly a figure eight for Soren, but it turned out lopsided. Before she could collapse, Soren returned the Pokémon into her pokeball and asked one of the workers to heal her up for the next match. Leeta had done good, and he wanted to see what else she was capable of. And a bit more training never hurt.
Fully healed, his Pokémon was returned to him, ready for another battle as she buzzed around her trainers head.

After doing a bit of waiting around in the trainer's lounge, Susumu found himself growing rather bored of just going to the weight room and back. It was the same thing each time -- lift up weights that nearly broke his back, endure the scents of older, sweaty men and Pokemon, and wait for nearly an hour for a clean shower to open up. He definitely wasn't in the mood to train himself, so he figured that a battle with Pokemon would help to pass the time. Asking one of the male workers up front if anyone was waiting for a challenger, he surprisingly nodded and directed him to the tenth room down. Grinning excitedly, but trying hard not to act like a doofus, he paced himself to the battle room, eager to try out his new skills against another trainer. He held one of his team's Pokeball nervously in his hand, as if he wasn't sure whether he should use the Chinchou first or his Geodude. 'Well, you idiot. How about opening the door first?' He thought lazily, and took a step forward, a little surprised to see it open up as soon as he came in. Looking around at the familiar, traditional surroundings, his eyes fixated on his opponent. "Heya. Single battle?" He asked, only seeing one Pokemon out of its Pokeball. That was fine by him, but he preferred that he train more than one of his team today. "How many Pokemon were you planning on using?" He asked, still hesitant to release his Pokemon from its container.

Soren was daydreaming a bit, waiting for something to happen, when he heard the door open. Quickly, he made sure to seem alert, aware, qhile he quickly looked his opponent over. Something... something was off! He could feel his skin prick as he felt the presence of another pokemorph. The needles under his skin was sending him warning signals. What king of pokemorph was he? Soren was unable to tell and he hoped that the distance created by the battlefield would allow him to keep his own secrets.
"Singles," said Soren. He was looking for training for all of his pokemon, but did he want to prolong the battle? Did he want to spend any more time than necessary with this 'morph? His skin was still prickling, warning him from the potential danger. "All in." It did not matter. He was going to defeat this trainer, even if he had to resort to using his trump card. He only had five Pokémon on his team, but Oosu would be there to back him up if he needed it.

Susumu flinched at Soren's soft voice, not expecting it from such a cold looking fellow. There was something weird about the way Soren's eyes were looking at him; as if he could sense something. The youth was almost sure that he was mistaken as someone else, since he knew that there was nothing visibly odd about the way he looked. Shrugging his shoulders with both hands slipping into the middle pocket of his hoodie, he fiddled around with the Pokeballs resting within it. Alright, he was sure which Pokemon would be a good lead. Taking out the Geodude's Pokeball, he held it in his hand, pointing it at the Ledyba. "Come out, Ken." He commanded, not pressing the button or anything. Hearing his trainer's words completely, the Geodude emerged from the sphere without any more prompting. <Can't a guy nap?> He complained, rubbing the back of his bumpy head. The Geodude closed both of his eyes as he stretched into a yawn, feeling pretty good about himself so far. Peeking one eye out, he saw a Ledyba right across from him. An opponent? His eyes scanned the area around him, and sure enough, he recognized it as a battlefield. "You can start." Susumu offered, not wanting to be rude. ::geodude:: |Level 6|

Soren looked over at Leeta, who was still buzzing next to him, feeling quite proud of her last win. The type advantage would not be with him, for this match up, and Elsu would have been a counter he would have gone with. But Leeta was out already, and it would make him look like a coward if he switched his Pokémon out know.
Leeta would just have to do and hopefully survive this ordeal, and Soren was already preparing his strategy for this. A geodude. Damn those rock types. The ledyba flew over to officially enter the rink and got herself ready for battle. She was pumped, having just defeated a pesky rattata, and that piece of rock, though it looked rather hard, would surely go down as well. Right?
"Confuse and defend," Soren commanded, his voice cold and clear. Leeta could almost feel shivers down her spine. Was this due to the natures of the two trainers? As Pokémon Susumu's pokemorph nature was quite obvious, and Soren's partial combination had been confusing at first, but Elsu and Nayj debriefed her about it (which summed up to don't mention it, don't talk about it, follow his orders). And so follow his orders she shall.
Flying just a bit higher to get a wider radius and to keep herself out of immediate harm's way, she positioned herself, flying in place, and used a supersonic attack, the high-pitched noise being directed to the geodude. She then allowed herself to lower a bit, while still staying on her guard and bracing for whatever attack may come her way.

Susumu observed the shiny red shell as the Ledyba entered the battlefield, making it positive proof that it was Ken's first opponent. It would've been annoying if the other guy pulled a switch-a-roo on him, but he still would have kept Ken out. There was one move they had to use that would make this 'all out' battle a lot easier for them. Ken wasn't nearly as interested in the Ledyba's charms, and found her bug eyes rather annoying to look at. Snorting out a chuckle of mockery, he gently raised his fists in the air-- ready for both offense and defense. "C-confuse?" Susumu asked, knowing for a fact that there wasn't a move that was so blunt. Then what was with the 'defend' command? That was not specific in the slightest. He inwardly groaned when he figured that his opponent had taught his Pokemon attacks in a secret code, that would most likely be easy to figure out later in the battle. His Geodude was easily confused by the Supersonic, since this was his first time experiencing the attack. His eyes became swirls as he wobbled back and forth in an unstable manner. At first his vision became rather hazy, but then it fixed itself for a few moments. His thought process was off though. "Ken? How did that sound make you act that way?" Susumu asked, wondering if it did something to his brain. Geez, hopefully it wasn't permanent. The last thing he needed was a retarded rock. "See if you can use Stealth Rock." He commanded, a bit unsure whether the Geodude would even be able to pull off the move. They had practiced it a bit, yes, but it was never used in a battle. The Geodude faltered for a second, before regaining his composure. Slamming his fists on the ground, sharp rocks leaped into the air as if controlled by a mystical force. They quickly hovered to where the biding Ledyba was biding, but refused to touch her. ::GEODUDE:: |Level 6| Used Stealth Rock ooc: It only works if we're both active, Ari.

The trainer watched the battle, not allowing himself to give up any advantages he might have. Soren wanted to win this and the wheels in his head was already turning, looking for possible counters. Would the geodude attack him? Leeta would be able to withstand a couple of hits, so he hoped that she wouldn't get hit too hard. And the supersonic's effect would also play an important role. Fighting against a confused opponent was always so much easier.
The geodude stumbled a bit after he was hit by the high-frequency wave, and Soren felt optimistic. A rock type would be hard to defeat, but if it was confused and hit itself, then he might not have to hit it too much! Unfortunately, the next attack completely crushed him. The moment the words stealth rock came out of Susumu's mouth, Soren had already flipped open the pokedex, searching the attack up. Te description almost terrified him. He had never heard of an attack like this, but seeing the stones that had formed, floating between him and Leeta, he could see its deadly potential. When he had the time, he would have to figure out a way to counter this attack.
"Hang tight," he commanded his pokemon. Leeta had been unsure of what was going on, expecting those rocks to hit her and harm her horribly, and did not feel any better when the rocks just stayed behind her, floating around, as if they could attack at any moment. Trying not to think about it, Leeta just stood strong, making sure not to make herself too hard of a target to hit as she readied to absorb any energy from an attack that might come to her.

Susumu watched Ken's Stealth Rocks hover in the air with a feeling of curiosity and excitement. Though Ken had been able to put the attack up in the past, he never saw them in action against another trainer. He figured that they were bound to activate sooner or later, whether Ken had fainted or not. Soren's Ledyba was merely biding her time, and it was getting a bit boring. Did they think it was funny, waiting it out while Ken attacked himself? Speaking of which, the rock type just spun around and fell on the ground. Ouch. The Confusion didn't look like it was ready to release the rock from its evil spell any time soon. Not good for him, since his offense wasn't the best thing in the world. It was his defense that excelled out of all of his other Pokemon. Seeing Soren take out his Pokedex earlier, he was reminded that he could do the same thing. He took it out and scanned his opponent's Ledyba, trying to look at the official move list. Though he wasn't sure what level Leeta was, out of all the moves it could learn by level, Bide looked like the one she was using. ::geodude:: |Level 6| Hit Himself in Confusion ooc: Shush. Soren had mixed feelings about the fact the geodude had just hit itself in confusion. The clumsy fall had hopefully done some damage to the rock Pokémon. Soren knew that he had to be careful against this Pokémon and was not going to risk attacking head on, no matter how much of a coward it made him seem. But if he had learned anything, defending against an attack could prove to be more effective than blindly attacking.
"Again," he commanded Leeta. The bug Pokémon seemed a bit disappointed. She wanted some action! She wanted to actually attack the stupid lump of rock! Though the idea of hitting herself and tackling the geodude did not seem too pleasant, but at least it would give her something interesting to do. This would not do. She wanted to prove herself to her trainer, and she was going to attack! Fluttering his wings, she increased her speed, looping back once before preparing to charge forward.
"Halt."
The sharp voice, laced with disappointment, made her stop in her tracks. Soren was not pleased with her decisions. He was the one in charge here, he was the one thinking of the tactics. She just had to win the personal battles, once he told her to attack. "Confuse and Defend," Soren repeated. This time, the Ledyba did as she was told, using a supersonic attack to keep the geodude in a state of confusion, before readying herself to take a couple of hits once again.

Susumu did NOT like the description of that Bide move, but he knew that Ken couldn’t hit himself in confusion forever. Eventually, an offensive move had to be made, or else it would be a very long stall war. The Supersonic didn’t seem to have an effect on the already Confused Geodude, who merely mumbled his annoyance at the high pitched sound. Actually, it seemed more like it was starting to wear off. Still confused, but beginning to recover at least. The Geodude grunted when his eyes focused on a blur of red and black, recognizing it as his opponent in the first time in a while. Susumu was quick to react, seeing Ken’s body look somewhat straight meant that he could attack, after all. ”Tackle it.” He commanded, feeling a bit uncertain whether he should use the much stronger Mega Punch yet. If it was a bide he was fighting against, his instincts told him to wait it out a little longer. Do some minor damage first, let the bide reflect the minor damage back, and then attack with the big moves when it was weak. That sounded somewhat legit, right? It was very possible that it wouldn’t be enough though, but he still had to give it a shot. It was the only plan he had, really. The Geodude groaned when he felt his head hurt from thinking too much. What was tackle again? Run into it…sort of? Or should he just hit it with a rock? Wait. Wasn’t he a rock? Putting two and two together, he charged at the Ledyba to hit it with a rock. That rock being himself. Obviously. ::geodude:: |Level 7| ooc: it is? huh. oh well. I feel bad about the confusion thing, because its like, taking away your bide turns. XD It seems like something that could easily be taken advantage of.

With Leeta using Bide, Soren did not have to worry about her for the moment and concentrated his attention on the stealth rock. The rocks were between him and the battlefield, exactly where pokemon were released as they are put into play. Would he be able to circumvent them? Maybe if he threw his pokeball further? Maybe if he make his pokemon fly higher? It did not seem to be feasible. With only part of his attention on the battle at hand, Soren made his way through the pokedex, searching entry after entry for something to counter it. Rapid Spin, Defog. Those were his two choices, and a quick browse of the list showed him that his best bet was to get a pokemon with Defog, or have one of his pokemon learn it. It would prevent this horrible situations in the future.
Leeta was holding up okay, promptly absorbing the energy used in the tackle attack. She felt the power stew inside her, ready to be unleashed. That rock did hit pretty strong, though, and she was not looking forward to the next hit. But then again, the rattata during last battle had done the same, and she had survived, right? She was still flying, and stronger than she was the day before. And after the next turn, she would become even stronger and more experienced.
If only her body didn't ache so much from just one hit. Really, she did not remember seeing rocks that moved around and flung itself at other pokemon in route one.

The Confusion status was simply unwilling to leave the Geodude’s head, constantly harassing him with inside debates on what he should do. For some reason, with his opponent so still and vulnerable, he was starting to think that she was merely a part of the background. Don’t ask, he’s confused. If he tried to explain it to someone, even he would become embarrassed by his stupidity. He knew that he had hit something with his body, the still and lifeless creature, and was starting to doubt himself on whether he hit the right target. A cheerful shout from his trainer seemed to encourage his ‘strange’ behavior, though he didn’t feel very proud doing it. ”Hit the Ledyba again with another Tackle. Save the big moves for later.” Susumu encouraged, wondering if he was giving out too much information. Sure, Ken didn’t have any other fancy smancy TM moves, but he had an Egg Move that was a lot stronger than Tackle. Right when he was beginning to believe that the confusion had finally worn off of Ken, the Geodude tossed a punch square in his own face. Susumu grimaced at the situation, almost feeling the wound’s pain himself because it looked that bad. Then again, any kind of normal type move wouldn’t be that good on a rock type. Then there was the high defense thing. But still, with the Ledyba’s attack coming up after a full two turns of charging, he had to admit that things didn’t look good. Basically it would be a double powered Tackle, right? Except how much damage did it do on the bug type? He looked it over, and saw it did some kind of damage to her. He couldn’t be sure if it was going to be enough to do a lot of damage to Ken though. |Level 7| Hit himself in his Confusion ooc: I never knew that Defog could do all of that. It can even get rid of reflect n’ stuff. The move is more useful than I thought. Totally worth the 100k. /reminds self to get TAUNT
