Black black heart why would you offer more
Why would you make it easier on me to satisfy
I'm on fire I'm rotting to the core
I'm eating all your kings and queens
Why would you make it easier on me to satisfy
I'm on fire I'm rotting to the core
I'm eating all your kings and queens
Full Name: Jaelle Seymour
Nicknames: Jae (Jaelle doesn’t really like her name, so she usually uses Jae)
Gender: Female
Age: 18 (the 17th of October)
Sexual Orientation: Bi-curious
Hometown: Mauville City, Hoenn
Appearance: With a swift step and a rather arrogant stance, it is not unusual for Jae to receive annoyed glares. Standing at 5’6 feet, she is neither tall nor short. Her body is nothing otherworldly. In her honest opinion, she thinks that her arms and legs are way too long considering the rest of her body, giving her an awkward appearance.
Nevertheless, Jae is lean and although her arms and legs are quite a bit skinny, don’t let that fool you. She might not be a black belt, but she is no stranger to fist fights – her arms and legs are capable of hitting another person with a strength that some would find strange in such a skinny girl like her.
However, her most distinguishable feature is not the shape of her body, but the color of her eyes. They’re a fierce golden color, too bright to be called hazel. All her family has that eye color. Stories tell that it has been in her family for generations and truthfully, Jae seems quite proud of them. They stand out in her pale and lean face, contrasting with her black rimmed eyes. Ironically enough, although such a color is usually considered a ‘warm’ color, Jae’s eyes are icy, like two pools of frigid gold, mostly due to her personality.
Jae’s hair is kept long, going down to her mid-back in loose waves of gold, much like her eyes. It is a darker shade of golden blonde that almost perfectly matches her eyes. Jae thinks that it makes her look boring, but she does nothing to change it.
As for her clothes, Jae tends to dress in darker hues. Seeing as she is a practical girl, she prefers pants over skirts. She can usually be seen wearing tight black pants that hug the shape of her body. She also tends to wear boots instead of other kinds of shoes, faithfully wearing her black combat boots that could also prove to be useful should she need to protect herself. As for her upper body, she wears a white button-up shirt underneath a black coat that falls down to her knees. The coat hugs her figure, but she wears it open most of the time. As for accessories, she uses a simple black choker around her neck.
Background: It is never easy to have wanted criminals for parents. It often occurred to Jaelle throughout the years in which she had lived with her parents that her life wasn’t exactly normal compared to other kids her age.
She was born to Lawrence and Terra Seymour one Autumn morning. Her early years were pretty normal, except that they were always on the move. Her parents weren't dangerous people - actually, they were just petty thieves, stealing from here and there. For the most part, the young couple loved their kids very much and tried their best to make them happy.
Jaelle’s brother was born when she was four years old. By that time she had already noticed that her parents were a bit different from the other kids’ parents. She knew that her parents were very strict when it came to talking to strangers – or dealing with any person, really. They were very distrustful of outsiders, hence why Jaelle and her brother, Jonathan, had scarcely any friends, if at all. However, it wasn’t until she was nine years of age that things got rough.
Apparently, her parents had messed with the wrong people. One Saturday morning, as Jaelle was watching her favourite cartoons on TV next to Jonathan, they heard someone knock on the front door. It was a strange occurrence, seeing as their parents were out and never knocked on the front door. They had warned Jaelle not to open the door to anyone, though. Gathering her little brother in her arms, she ran up the stairs and closed herself and her brother in her room. She tried calling their parents, but none answered her phone calls. Things only got worse when suddenly they heard a growl and a door slamming onto the ground.
Eventually, whoever was in the house found them and dragged them down the stairs, threatening them with fire Pokémon and asking them where their parents were. Of course, Jaelle hadn’t the faintest idea, holding her brother close to her as he bawled his eyes out. The people took them and shoved them into a van, heading Arceus knows where.
For one week, Jaelle and Jonathan were hostages, Jaelle getting beaten daily due to her inability to answer their questions. Truth was, she had no idea where her parents were. She just hoped they would come and save them. They never did. From that day on something changed inside Jaelle, something that would never be the same again.
Finally giving up on getting answers from both children, they left them to wander the streets of some city they didn’t know the name of. Jaelle knew the police was looking for them and, due to a life being told to run from the police, she and her brother were able to evade them for a couple of weeks. However, they lacked the means to sustain themselves and often stole food – which meant that, eventually, they got caught.
The police told them that their parents had been shot a week ago and had both died. Jaelle and Jonathan were being sent to an orphanage, seeing as everything their parents owned was stolen and thus, was not theirs.
The next few years of their lives weren’t easy either. Jaelle would often get herself into fights with other kids due to a handful of reasons. Most of those times, she was trying to defend her brother from bullies, which meant that she was beaten up a couple of times too. Sometimes she would get into fights because she had been insulted. Other times, kids would just attack her first and she had to defend herself.
Surprisingly enough, even with everything that had been going on in her life, Jaelle was able to get fairly good grades. She was intelligent, even though that did not help her when she was ganged up on and beaten up. Also, surprisingly enough, after a couple of years in the orphanage, she and her brother were adopted.
The couple who adopted them had known their parents and had maintained a sort of business relationship with them. It didn’t take Jaelle long to figure out that the ‘business’ hadn’t been exactly legal. Even so, the eccentric couple took them in and gave them a roof to sleep under. Jonathan readily accepted them as his adopted parents, but Jaelle refused to do so. Often her and her brother would have huge arguments because of that. Nevertheless, Jaelle loved him, even if she didn’t show it much.
She never got along with her adoptive parents, growing silent and cold. She also never forgave her birth parents for putting their children through so much. Nothing eventful happened in those tears, save for the fact that Jae’s personality took a turn for the worse, keeping her from making friends in school. She was a bright student, but grades weren’t important to her. She felt that everything around her was fake: her adoptive parents’ smiles, her teacher’s praises…
Eventually, as she turned eighteen, she decided to leave. What had been holding her back from doing this had been her brother, but even though her adoptive parents had never grown on her, she knew that Jonathan was in good hands. She hoped he’d grow up well, unlike herself.
She could’ve gone to college, but that wouldn’t solve her problem. She wanted to run away from it all. Being a Pokémon trainer just looked like the perfect escape.
Personality: Jaelle isn't someone that easily warms up to others. She is unable to feel empathy toward another human being most of the time, mainly due to her violent past. She built a wall around her and never lets go of it. She believes that distancing herself from everyone else is the best way to ensure she doesn't get hurt, emotionally or physically.
She's also arrogant, thinking very highly of herself. She puts herself on a mental pedestal when dealing with other people. However, this does not mean that she isn't polite or charming when she needs to be. She keeps her opinions to herself most of the times, along with her past and any information that she considers personal. It is hard, if not impossible, to get something out of her. On that matter, Jaelle is also a very quiet person, observing the world around her and making her own assumptions. She's a very logical person, rarely, if ever, following her emotions and feelings.
It is very likely that people will think she's a know-it-all when they first meet her. Along with her arrogance, Jae has an ever present mocking grin, as if she knows something you don't. Her opinion regarding humanity isn't a very good one - as she sees it, human beings are destroying the planet and themselves little by little. Sometimes she is unable to see the good side of a person, instead focusing on their flaws and not giving a damn about everything else.
She actually doesn't give a damn about lots of things.
Maybe due to her lack of socializing skills, Jae has lots of ways to pass the time. One of those ways is through reading. Although she might be cold and distant to the world around her, she feels that she can somewhat be herself when reading a book. Jae is also a fan of chess and can play it brilliantly. She loves games that require strategy and a focused mind.
However, as cold and unfeeling as she might seem, Jaelle actually isn't that indifferent when faced with a challenge or with something she really enjoys doing. She can be very passionate about Pokemon battling, although she always stays calm and collected at all times. She can also be a very sensitive person when it comes to nature: she believes that there is nothing more beautiful than the sun rising over distant mountain peaks or than the sounds of the waves crashing on the sand.
