Full Name: Tristan Suflet
Gender: Male
Age: 19 (July 17th, 1991) (not my actual birthday)
Appearance: Tristan has short, messy, jet black hair that goes down his neck, blue eyes, and a bit of fuzz on his upper lip. From his training, Tristan also has a well developed, muscular build with very strong leg muscles to boot. Usually, he wears a gray shirt with the Chinese character for tiger on it/a t shirt with musical notes on it., with a Blue zip up hoodie on top. Form fitting black sweatpants cover his legs with combat boots on his legs, as if he were ready for the eventual training session. However, on top of it, he has khaki pants, ready to be taken off at any time. Can also become khaki shorts at anytime. He weighs about 158 lbs and is 5’7”. He has good teeth, due to brushing everyday, but he usually leaves his hair alone. The only time he would actually fix is hair is when someone is hassling him to do it. At first glimpse, he just seems like an average 19 year old, albeit lazy and uncaring about the world around him.
Background: Tristan was born into a well off family known regionally for their martial arts prowess and fighting Pokémon. His grandfather was the grandmaster running the dojo during afternoon and evening hours while his father and mother assisted, all the while trying to handle their jobs. His father was a strong martial artist who taught the class, though in a strict serious manner. His grandfather, though, was often cheerful and jolly. He grew up with two older brothers, constantly praised by the family for their skills in martial arts and unique talents. The eldest brother had the best grades in school and the second eldest has the best athletic skill, even surpassing his older brother in sparring, despite the difference years in training. Tristan, however, was often overlooked due to the attention his parents paid to the older two. Despite that, his brothers were always there to look after him, at least helping him feel included.
Being the youngest, Tristan was often overshadowed by the talents of his family, as evident by the number of times he was easily thrown by both of his brothers in every sparring match he had. As he kept losing and sparring, he started to question himself and what he can do. He wanted to improve his skill and catch up to his brothers, but he didn’t know how. His brothers always tried to help him improve, giving him tips and telling him what he was lacking, but with his constant losses, he couldn’t tell if he was actually improving. One day, around the age of 14, when he was beaten by both of his brothers in a spar, he stormed off, unable to contain himself. He started to wonder if he was still able to continue martial arts, or even belonged in the family. After storming off, his grandfather, along with his father, approached him. His father only stared at him while his grandfather prepared to address something to him about improving and how everything was constantly improving. He knew that Tristan was improving somehow and he wanted to say that Tristan was as well. His grandfather managed to convince Tristan to stay in martial arts and work harder if he wanted to see improvement. As a result, Tristan had always wanted to find a way in surpassing his brothers, martial arts or otherwise.
Eventually, when it was time to move onto sparring with people to sparring with pokemon, Tristan still continued the losing streak. Despite him moving up in belt ranks, he was often still left to take care of the Pokémon due to punishment and losing so much. It was his father’s policy as an instructor and father, since fighting types have a lot of energy and would often provoke fights, all the while trying to balance school and life. Even though he was left, he managed to develop an interest in fighting types, finding how to raise them and how to improve their skills. His interest in Pokémon spread to other types and, coupled with his determination to improve, found his dream. At the age of 16, he stood up at the dinner table and pronounced his dream to become a Pokémon trainer and breeder. His mother, caring about his son, was skeptical of his dream. His father was silent about it. His grandfather left a jolly old laugh.
He eventually kept his dream and kept his interest in martial arts, joining Pokémon clubs in school and learning about them. He did research, he studied the fighting type pokemon, he did what he could to learn before going out on a journey. He made significant improvements, due to the goal he pronounced, in school, martial arts, and even Pokémon. His skill level came to the point where he was able to help younger kids, as well as help raise the dojo's fighting types. He would also constantly hang out with his oldest and older brothers, who were at the top of the class and dojo, respectively. He developed a sense of being laid back and of pride from them both, due to the fact that they were at the top. Eventually, he learned that grades, rank, and everything aren't everything. Due to his exposure and influences of his brothers, he eventually became complacent. He hasn’t done research in a while about Pokémon and never picked up his fists as often as he used to. Rather than the spirit he showed in everything he did, he just did things and never did anything more than just doing it. Soon, after he became complacent, his interests drifted to anime and manga. This was a big disappointment, as he was found to make the most improvements in the dojo, as well as in school. Eventually, he was kicked out by his father. With nothing else to do, except ask himself why his father did that when he was only the average person in the family, he went on a journey. That’s where he is today.
Personality: Tristan believes in the value of hard work, determination, and that with enough work he can surpass those with talent. Although he believes that hard work will help, he also believes that results are not everything. Grades are not everything, belt rankings are not everything, etc. Often, Tristan words and actions do not reflect his hardworking beliefs. He is quite laid back about everything, especially when it comes to work. He will give things a shot, but he doesn't think that he needs to put in all of his effort. Once things get annoying, he just stops putting in. When in face of a battle, he usually never turns away. Despite his unintentionally mean, cool exterior, he is quite capable of understanding and compassion.
Usually, he is a very calm and collected person who just likes to relax. Despite his polite, friendly, and cheerful (usually talks to people with a small smile), he can seem conceited, apathetic/indifferent, selfish, and an asshole (aka, self centered, rude, blunt, points out things that are off, etc). He is normally be very blunt and critical about what is around, but that doesn’t mean he is unfamiliar to sarcasm, as he likes to employ that whenever he can in his words. The complacent attitude and the new beliefs were picked up due to hanging out with his brothers. Since his brothers were at the top, he felt like that as well. But even so, he still holds onto his beliefs and goals and knows what he wants to do. He is quite capable of working hard. Once he is into something, people will notice the difference.
His trust is not usually given away that easily. The times he would are if he were to find the person okay to talk to and not too annoying. Once that happens, he will open up a little more, and even smile more often. Even though he tries to stay chill and laxed, he is not unfamiliar with passion and self-expression, especially when they are invoked. Once invoked, he seems different, as he becomes more spirited, much more focused, and less complacent. Though once the event is over, he tries to rectify it and go back to his cheerful, lazy self.
He often doesn't like certain things authority puts on him. Thanks to his training in the dojo, followed by the influence from his brothers, he has a certain disagreement with people who take away one's freedoms. He is the kind of guy who would like to do anything.
Short form: Calm, collected, focused, believes in hardwork, determination, and that results aren't everything but needed to show true improvement. He's laid back, lazy, polite and friendly to people, but can blunt, sarcastic, seemingly rude, self-centered, mean, apathetic, etc. Once he is into something, people will notice how much he will put into it. Has a belief in freedom.
[/li][li] Laid Back
Tristan is usually a relaxed person, taking everything with a very relaxed expression. He is both level headed and laid back about anything and everything that comes his way. He usually doesn't give a crap until he has to, making him seem more along the lines of lazy, given today's standards.
[/li][li] Proud/Conceited
Though not open about it, Tristan is quite prideful of his abilities and what he can do, hence believing that he can surpass his brothers. That being said, whenever things don't go right, he gets angry and quite frustrated by the recent events (often, he is unadaptive). Whenever he loses a battle, he shows some signs of broken pride and beating himself up, but these signs are typically subtle. Comes across as a conceited jerk due to the conceitedness.
[/li][li] Critical/Analytical
He is of analyzing certain situations, due to his martial arts training and studies. He usually points out what has happened and any faults that are around, trying to make these faults apparent, whether the person wants to hear it or not. Combined what is stated above, he can come off as a lazy, conceited asshole who doesn't seem to take things seriously and when things get annoying, he can seem to get worse
[/li][li] Blunt
Short, sweet, to the point, that's usually how Tristan tells people. He tells it like it is.
[/li][li] Loyal (need a better word)
Even though Tristan is critical about everything and how laid back he is to certain pressures, whenever he says he'll do something, he'll do it. Whenever there are obligations he takes up, he wants to at least try it and see if he can complete it. Though that doesn't really stop him from complaining about stuff
[/li][li] Determined/Resolute
He is firm on his purpose and his goal to become a breeder, as the thought of being one is always roaming in his head. Usually, when there are new things to learn about pokemon, he'll learn it just to say he can keep this dream alive.
Info: Hates cats. Believes that they take way too much effort to raise. He also has a strong belief in freedom and that freedom should be granted to everyone. Also believes in finding himself. His favorite types of Pokémon would be fighting, dark, and fire types. However, he also enjoys Pokémon who can represent freedom, flight, and thus, flow. Like Jeet Kune Do.
