L É O P R I D E A U X
NAME: Léo Camille Prideaux
AGE: 20
GENDER:
APPEARANCE
Léo is a tall young man standing at five feet and eleven inches and weighs around on hundred and sixty-nine pounds. He had platinum blond hair and pale blue eyes. He has an athletic build from his younger days. An obvious trait of his is his missing hands; they are both replaced with artificial limbs due to an accident in his childhood. They were built to be the estimated size of his adult hands so he would grow into them.
As for clothing, Léo is inspired by the style of steampunk; he wears a turquoise collared shirt along with a brown leather vest on top with an assortment of metal studs and buttons. He wears a slate gray pair of pants that are held up by a brown leather belt and tucked into boots; they reach up to just below his knee. Finally, he wears a long yellow scarf around his neck for an aerodynamic feel.
PERSONALITY
Léo is an adventurous person; he loves to travel and has gone to several different regions as a child. Since traveling is nothing new to him, coming to the Cheyenne Region was just another new world for him to explore. He can be very energetic for someone his age and can be hasty sometimes. He always means well but his habit of being a little too reckless can get him into a lot of trouble. He can be very lazy and even discouraging when it comes to work that he has absolutely no interest; he was always interested in breeding Pokémon so it's obvious that he will definitely work hard at it. He is quite dedicated to activities he likes and is the exact opposite with things he could care less about.
When it comes to making friends, Léo can be very fun to be around albeit very eccentric; he always seems to be speaking whatever comes to mind. He is a patient person but shows it in his own way; rather than waiting around and tapping his feet, he would always keep himself busy. He always seems to have a smile on his face according to his friends back home and can always tell when something is wrong; when someone goes from a zany weirdo to a quiet and indifferent person, it's pretty easy to guess that something is off about them. Léo has very strong emotions that can be read very easily; his most notable trait is his cheerfulness. However, when he has a bad day, it feels like there is always a raincloud above his head.
When something doesn't go his way or he is questioned, he can be very difficult to work with. He can be extremely stubborn to the point of immaturity when he can't have his way. Though he usually doesn't ask for much of his friends or family, he is often forced to do things he doesn't want to do. If he isn't interested, then he will do everything in his power to get out of there as soon as possible! This often mixes in with his recklessness and can cause him to lose friends very easily. He usually ends up feeling bad about it in the end. He is very easy to be friends with if you have the patience; he will only want to be your friend if you want to be his friend, too.
When it comes to Pokémon, Léo often seems like a completely different person sometimes; he holds Pokémon in high regard and never treats them any less than he would any other human being. He believes that they deserve so much more than being treated like pets or like tools. That is one of the reasons why he chose to be a Pokémon Breeder rather than a Pokémon Trainer or Coordinator; fighting Gym Leaders for the sake of declaring superiority over them or trying to make Pokémon look as cute or as beautiful as possible was pointless in his eyes. Breeding Pokémon was a very wonderful thing to do in his opinion; being able to take care of Pokémon when they are babies sounds extremely rewarding even if it can be as difficult as any other profession.
In all honestly, Léo used to be a quiet and obedient child. However, after the accident, it had changed him drastically; he had become more outgoing and sociable than he was before. He had developed a sense of optimism from his experience; he was never a pessimistic person but he never expected too much of anything. Many people pity him and even more are excited about the success of his prosthetic limbs. However, Léo never likes taking off his leather gloves; he hates showing his artificial limbs to others. He believes that people will treat him differently for it and he doesn't want that. He just wants to be treated like a normal human being.

HISTORY
Léo was born to a pair of Pokémon Breeders who just so happened to have fallen in love in Verdanturf Town. His father and his mother had met in the quaint village and originally couldn't stand each other; he was a Pokémon Trainer who was bent on traveling in every region of the world and proving himself as a Pokémon Master while she was the daughter of Pokémon Breeders. She believed in the rights of Pokémon and told him that treating Pokémon like they were nothing but tools used to put down others was wrong. It took a long time but as her words reached him, he found a new perspective towards his Pokemon; he not only fell in love with her but he decided to give up his foolish dream of traveling the world only to fight. They settled down in Verdanturf Town and eventually had their first and only child, Léo. He was an easy child to raise in such a calm and naturally beautiful town. He grew up on the values his mother grew up on and was taught about Pokémon by both of his parents; he loved Pokémon and was got along very well with the Pokémon in the house. He was especially fond of a Ralts that his mother had hatched from a Pokémon Egg; her name was Lucia. She played with him and watched over him while his parents were busy.
Lucia was a the closest thing to a friend that Léo could possibly have; he didn't get along with other children very well at that age. He was always quiet and reserved and wasn't interested in playing with them; he saved his attention for the Pokémon in his house. They would often stay up at night and read stories about his father's journey when he was a Pokémon Trainer; he was fascinated with the thought of traveling to different places. However, there was one in particular that he was interested in; the Cheyenne Region. Apparently, his father had conquered Hoenn, Kanto, and Johto and made Cheyenne his next stop but that was when he came back to Hoenn, he met Léo's mother. That was where the stories ended. The two would share meals, go on walks to Mauville, play games, and sometimes get to take care of Pokémon Eggs together.
However, as he got older, he noticed that the other teenagers in the town often had sparring matches with each other and their Pokémon. Since he was taught that Pokémon shouldn't be used like that, he tried to break them up. However, he didn't have a very good reputation among the other children around in Verdanturf Town; his family was always thought to have been a bit eccentric from the way they preached about how Pokémon should be treated. One of the boys got so angry at Léo's preaching that he told his Pokemon, a Scyther, to attack him. Since they were only teenagers, they were certain that Pokémon couldn't harm humans; they thought of Pokémon as their playthings. The Scyther had no choice to obey and attacked Léo with Fury Cutter. The poor boy tried to protect himself by bracing himself with both of his arms and the attack had cut both of his hands off cleanly; the cut had almost cut as far as his elbow but luckily it didn't reach that far. The boys cried out in shock and Léo's mother heard them and went outside with Lucia to see her child writhing in pain on the ground, covered in blood. She screamed and tried to help him but she had no idea how; his hands were cut off! Lucia was shocked by Léo's wounds and was distraught that she didn't have the power to help; she could feel his pain and it was excruciating and it nearly traumatized her! However, there was someone who was nearby who eventually saved Léo's life; a scientist from Mossdeep City. She worked at the Space Centre that was located on the island. She was apparently born in Verdanturf and was visiting her place of birth when the accident happened. She had actually been brought to Mauville City by helicopter and she walked west to the small town. She quickly called Nurse Joy from the Pokémon Center and she came out with her Chansey. The Egg Pokémon had done her best to stop the bleeding but there was no telling if he would be able to survive such an incident. That was when she told Léo's mother of an experimental procedure that was being tested at Mossdeep; it was the creation of artificial limbs for people who had to amputate them for medical reasons. At first, she was extremely reluctant but there was nothing else she could possibly do for her son. After much deliberation, she allowed the scientist to take Léo to Mossdeep by helicopter for the procedure to occur. After calling her husband home from visiting her parents in Lilycove City, the Prideaux's left for the Space Centre.
The Space Centre was not necessarily just a building dedicated to astronomy and the study of the stars; it was also a place that was working to discover new medical discoveries. Once Léo arrived, he was immediately taken into intensive care and the operation could begin. Léo's parents were extremely fearful for their child's life. Lucia was also brought with them because of her attachment to Léo. After nearly three days of operating, the procedure was finally finished. Their son's live had been saved by these scientists! His hands were replaced with artificial ones that were made of metal. Although it would take months of therapy, he would be able to live as though they were still his hands. Léo had been asleep for nearly four days and when he had awakened, he was distraught with fear; he had no idea what he had gone through after the initial shock. He had passed out after his hands were cut off. That moment back in Verdanturf Town had instilled a fear of Pokémon into him and he would fear them for the next two years of his life; Lucia was a special exception to this phobia. He was fourteen when this happened. However, after much work, his father had finally managed to help his son to overcome his phobia of Pokémon. Though he was still a bit nervous around them, he managed to live for the next four years alongside Pokémon again. Now that he was twenty years old, it was time for him to go out into the real world like his father did but with a different purpose; it was not only to travel and experience the world outside of Verdanturf Town but to experience Pokémon for what they really were. After much preparation and discussion with his parents, he convinced them to allow him and his Ralts, Lucia, to journey to Cheyenne.
