It was time. In Maria's mind it was really nothing short of tragic either. She hadn't wanted a new pokemon and yet here she was stuck with one. At least she was a sweetheart. Her new partner, a cute little Treecko whom was now named Mint, walked beside her. One of her little green hands was holding on to Maria's skirt. She had felt that she had made the right choice, after all, grass type Pokemon always felt so right to her. >>Will I be a contest Pokemon or a battling Pokemon Maria?<< Mint was curious about her future with her new trainer. "We will be entering contests Mint. It's a little more laid back than gym battles but just as much work so we'll need to work hard." Suddenly she tripped over something spherical. What was a random Pokeball doing on route one? Should she take it or just leave it? Maria picked it up and released the Pokemon inside. It was one she had never seen before. It had to be one of the new Pokemon she had heard about. ><So you are my new trainer? I'm glad you finally made it! I was getting so lonely in there!>< found petilil pokeball and decides to keep it

::teddiursa:: "Oh teddy," a small bear was shouting. He was looking for his teddy bear that he had lost. Out in the middle of the forest he was. He was hugging a big jar of combee honey and occasionally dipping his hand in so he could suck on it. It was lovely, but he preferred eating the liquid gold when he had teddy around.
Interact with Teddiursa?

Maria walked a few more steps, her footsteps silent on a dirt path. It was nice to have more company on her journey, even if it hadn't been her original intention. Maybe one day she would be able to return home, wherever that was. Maybe she just wasn't supposed to go back to that place? ><So what's my name going to be Miss Maria? I hope it's something pretty!>< Thinking for a moment Maria tried to figure out a name for the new Pokemon. "How about Cosette? Is that a pretty enough name?" The petilil nodded and fluttered about Maria's head, giggling excitedly. Suddenly Maria stopped and Mint soon saw why. A lone Teddiursa was just sitting by the road looking awfully lonely. "Hey, are you okay little one?" Maria leaned down in front of him, smiling gently. Maria asks the Teddiursa what is wrong.

The teddiursa looked at the trainer - sorrow in his eyes. The trainer reminded him so much of his lost teddy bear. He just burst into more tears. He dug his paw into the sweet liquid and ate some more before gulping. "MY TEDDY BEAR IS GONE," the Teddiursa wailed. The Teddiursa sat down and cried some more, eating the honey slowly as he savored the flavor and the sweet sweet food that sometimes cheered him up.
Help him find teddy?

Maria smiled at him once more. A Teddiursa losing a Teddy bear? She couldn't help but appreciate the irony in that, not that the situation was actually funny, especially not when he started crying about it. "Of course we will help you find him! Mint, you go search a little further down the road and Cossette you check in the bushes." The girl sat down beside the small little bear Pokemon and offered her arm for comfort. "How about you come over here and tell me what your Teddy bear looks like and where you last had him okay?" Meanwhile her Pokemon started searching high and low for the bear. How hard could it be to find one anyways? After all this was the middle of a route! Mint went on down the road, scanning the ground for any signs of a bear and Cossette fluttered in and out of bushes searching nonchalantly for it. Everyone pitches in. Maria offers a shoulder to cry on and asks for more information.

::teddiursa:: He sniffled back some tears, wiping his eyes on the side of his sticky honey-covered paws. Some of the honey stuck to his face and made his fur look a little ridiculous. But he didn't seem to even realize he'd just spread honey all over his face. But he was happy enough to accept her comfort. He quickly walked over to her, waddling slightly off balance. As he reached her he reached his arms out, wanting to cling onto her and find warmth. "Teddy looks just like my mommy Ursaring! I had him when I woke up this morning... I went into a berry bush to get some food and now I can't find him. I just set him down for a second." He explained to Maria. Perhaps the young Teddiursa had just forgotten where he set his bear down? Or was there some diabolic plot that some poke'mon had to steal children's toys?

Maria smiled as he accepted her comfort, not worried about all of the honey and such, she was used to getting messy living on her own for so long. She hugged him and listened to his story. So he had just set the bear down for a moment then? And he mentioned that it looked like his mother, an Ursaring. She hoped that she wouldn't come along and think that Maria was the one causing all the trouble with the little bear. The way he clung to her made her feel needed, it was nice. ><Hey Miss Maria! I think I found something over here! How about you bring tyke over here and we'll see if this is his bear?>< Cossette hovered over a clump of berry bushes and waited for her trainer to come over. Cossette thinks she found the bear

::spearow:: They had found his teddy bear? A smile came across his face as he walked over to the place where the teddy was rumored to be. On the ground was a teddy bear. It wasn't his one though. It was an ekans plushie - not an Ursaring plushie. He broke out into tears once again. "That's not my teddy," he wailed. The pokemon continued to cry as a bird appeared. It's wings were pinky red and the rest of the body was brown. Many different shades of brown. A spearow. In it's mouth was an Ursaring plushie. The Teddiursa pointed and gasped. "My teddy!"The bird landed, dropped the teddy bear before him and glared at the people and pokemon. "My teddy bear now, my precious Pidgey will adore this."Battle spearow?

Maria sighed when they found that the item her Petilil had found wasn't the right plushie, she had let the little one down and now her heart sank. What was she doing? She could hardly ever help herself much less help this tyke find something... Maybe if she tried harder then she would be able to help more. She picked up the ugly Ekans plushie. Who would want something like this to play with anyways. Giving the little Teddiursa a quick hug she turned around when he gasped. Maybe he had found it himself? His short cry of joy was quickly diminished as the situation was brought to light. So a Spearow had the toy all along then? What a terrible thing to do, steal toys from little kids! "You shouldn't steal from children Spearow! How about you give back the kid's teddy bear and you can take this Ekans plushie back to your Pidgey? I don't want to have to resort to violence for this but..."
There was a stillness in the air after her little declaration. It was true though. The last thing that Maria wanted was to pick a fight with a flying type when the only two Pokemon she had happened to be grass. Not that she would normally go about starting fights anyways but still. She couldn't just let the teddy bear be taken away it was wrong. This was the sort of moral delima that one of her heros from one of her books should be facing, not her. She was just average, below average if you counted the fact that she couldn't remember anything from her past. Mint had long wandered back to her trainer and tried to assess how they got themselves into this situation. So much for a smooth ride through the first route. They could have just taken a slightly different path and avoided all of this. >Just give up the bear guy. The Ekans is just as good and you would think you would want something around to scare other birds away from your nest with... Don't Ekans eat you guys or something?< Maria held a hand to her face for a moment. Obviously Mint didn't realize that mentioning "getting eaten" probably wasn't the greatest idea in the world.
Maria tried to negotiate with Spearow. Mint tried to "negotiate" with Spearow.

The Spearow simply cawed a bit in laughter. <Yeah, right! Anyone can see that this one's a hundred times better than that old thing. You crack me up, little girl.> An ironic thing to say, granted his own height. <But tell you what, you've got me in such a good mood...you want this back so bad? Then fight me for it and bereave it from me. I'll enjoy kicking the crap out of you and whatever Pokémon you have that may be stupid enough to fight with the likes of me.> He seemed to be enjoying himself a lot more than he should in this situation. He ruffled his feathers a bit in anticipation, as though awaiting the girl's stupid decision to accept his challenge. He had already seen the two Pokémon she had with her. Two Grass Pokémon. His Peck attack would make this a piece of cake! The Teddiursa, meanwhile, was sitting on the ground, one paw in his mouth, on the verge of tears again. <B-but that's...> The Teddiursas sniffled. <That's my T-Teddy....> ::Spearow:: Challenges you to battle ::Teddiursa:: On the verge of tears again

Maria nodded, dissapointed that the Spearow hadn't been willing to just give up and give back the bear. She knew that her own Pokemon were in trouble though, they were both grass types fresh out of the lab and he was a flying type. Maybe she should have picked the Totodile after all... No, she couldn't start second guessing herself now! Someone was counting on her and she had to push forward... If she didn't then she would be letting someone else down, she couldn't stand to do that now, especially not to a kid. They would just have to try there best and hopefully push forward. After all, even though they were grass types she had two Pokemon rather than just the one. She would send Mint out first. After all the Treecko wasn't just bound by knowing only a Grass type attack, hopefully that would help out even if it was just a little bit. "Alright Mint, you heard him... We have to fight to get the teddy bear back so fight is what we'll do. Cossette, are you okay with fighting him too?" The sky began to darken as rain drops began to fall. Great, thats just what they needed, some rain... ><I'm ready to go Miss Maria! Just tell me what to do!><
Mint stepped foward, ready to bring the fight to the Spearow. With the rain coming down at least it looked like he might not be able to fly as well. Hopefully her trainer wouldn't end up getting sick from all this. "Alright Mint, lets start this with a Leer attack then maybe try Pound..." Mint glared at the Spearow, hoping that it would cause him to get flustered and mess up. Hopefully she wouldn't end up messing up. The small geecko Pokemon then ran foward, her tail glowing in preparation for the Pound attack. All the while she was thinking to herself, Please let us win. Please let us win.

The drops of water showered from the sky and dappled the ground, turning it from light brown to dark. The Spearow flinched slightly as the deluge of water droplets began to soak through his feathers, though he just ruffled them. For now, the rain wasn't an issue, the battle was. The Spearow felt his muscles seize up as the glare of the Treecko locked. Then, he felt the impact of the Pound send him sprawling back with a grunt of pain. Ruffled, but now boosted by a wave of anger, the Spearow retaliated with a flash of a Leer of his own. <Take this!>the bird Pokemon screeched, aiming his beak at the Treecko, ready to give the Pokemon a good pecking.

Maria stared at the battle, her heart rate picking up as the rain poured down. The logic to stand underneath the tree or for her to pull out the parasol that she ALWAYS carried out to block the rain. No, she was too worried about the battle. She didn't want her Pokemon to get hurt, that's why she had chosen the route of Coordinator rather than becoming an actual trainer. Now what should she do? With the rain falling harder there was no telling what would happen.
Mint felt herself tremble as she was hit by the Leer attack. She couldn't let herself be hit, not this early in the game no... Not this early should she fall. As the Spearow charged forward, she tried to charge forward as well, causing herself to slip and slide in the mud, sliding under the Spearow rather than being hit by him. So much for miracles. She couldn't count on many of those. The Treecko grasped for something to hold on to, grabbing at the only thing close, the Spearow itself. Her tail ready for another Pound attack.

The Spearow was shocked at the Treecko's actions. The fact it slipped underneath on accident was not surprising, but yet she grabbed hold of himself while sliding. He could not be blasé about it and started to wiggle, trying to escape. Then he got hit by the Pound attack, making it hard for him to fly. <Get OFF me!> he said, trying to peck at the Pokémon on his underside. It was really annoying, and he continued to flap around erratically, trying to get the excess baggage off. He didn't want to be losing to a grass-type Pokémon. If he did, his darling Pidgey would probably leave him. Trying to shake Mint off. Hit by Pound. Used Peck.

More and more to worry about all Maria could do was to hold her breath. No wait she couldn't do that either, she had to help Mint by telling her what to do in the battle, though it seemed as though her help wasn't really needed. Mint winced as she felt the stinging sensation of the peck hitting her face. Still holding on she tried to fend of the attack with her hand. She shot out another Leer attack and pulled her tail underneath the Spearow, using a Pound attack on his underbelly where it was easy to reach.

The Spearow knew he was reaching his limits. He was very weak, but he couldn't just give up the teddy bear. He dove to the ground and landed, trying to stand on top of the Treecko. <I will be leaving here with this teddy bear.> he said, both tired and confidently. He started to peck at the Treecko, trying to take it out before he gets knocked out himself. Unfortunately for him, that moment could come soon.

There wasn't much left in Mint and there wasn't much left in the Spearow either. This match was down to the wire and in it's few moments this was it. Mint struggled to try and free herself from the bird pokemon, trying to struggle away from the pain she was enduring. Her tail swung around wildly in a final attempt to fend off the bird. Before she knew what she was doing a Pokeball was in her hand and almost as instinct it flew towards the weakened Spearow. The white light engulfing it and leaving the Teddy bear on the ground. Maria took this opportunity to snatch it up, handing the damp Teddy back to the Teddiursa while the Spearow was fighting with the Pokeball. Mint laid on the ground, trying to catch her breath just in case the Spearow broke out of the ball. ::Treecko:: Weak Used Pound Took peck damage Maria threw a Pokeball and retrieved the bear.

Teddiursa took the teddy bear and jumped happily. He shoved his paw into his mouth, almost like a baby sucking its thumb. <Thank you so much> he said, slightly mumbling his words due to his paw taking up most of the room in his mouth. He just turned to the pokeball that was thrown at the Spearow. The pokeball containing the Spearow started to shake. Once...Twice....Thrice....and then nothing. The pokeball made a 'ding' as the red light faded. Name: You choose. Level: 6 Abilities: Keen Eye Attacks: Peck, Growl, Leer Personality: You choose. +1 level for Mint

Maria sighed, happy that the Teddiursa was finally happy, that he had finally stopped crying. Mint walked over to her, beaten and bruised yet she still carried the Spearow's Pokeball over to her. "How about a rest Mint? You deserve it." The grass type nodded and returned herself to her Pokeball that hung from Maria's bag. Cossette floated over, slightly disappointed that she hadn't gotten to fight yet. There was always next time though. Maria took a seat on a tree stump, it was under a tree itself so at least she was blocked from the rain, and she placed the new addition to her team in the bag, unsure of what she wanted to do with him yet. "You could always come with us too little one. I've got plenty of room on my team and I'd love to have someone as cute as you along."Maria offered a spot on the team to the Teddiursa.

WILD TEDDIURSA APPEARED! ::Teddiursa::
Teddiursa was delighted when the trainer offered her a spot on the team, but... Well, she wasn’t sure. Yes, the trainer had helped her get her beloved teddy bear back, but going with the trainer meant leaving her friends back in the forest...
“I...” Teddiursa hesitated, swallowing nervously and clinging to her bear like an innocent child. Well it was her life that was on the line here, so... “I’m not sure.” The Teddiursa curled up and snuggled with her bear as she thought about what could happen to her. She could be eaten by monsters! She could be Teddy-napped and forced to work for that evil Team Death she had heard about! What- she gulped, what if she lost her Teddy! For a moment she sat there before she glanced back up at the trainer. She looked... She did look nice, but she didn’t want to have to deal with that mean Spearow again - The one who had tried to take Teddy from her, and had scared her.
Even so, Maria looked like a good person who would look after her... “Okay,” Teddiursa got up and walked over to Maria and twitched her ears. “But only if I don’t have to stay around in one of those mean Pokéball things. I like my freedom as it is. Oh, and you have to help me take care of Teddy every day, and feed him, bath him and cuddle him.”
::Teddiursa:: Agrees to join you under these conditions: 1. You let her walk outside of her Pokeball. 2. You help her look after Teddy.
