I think Cheyenne should introduce a second ay to get TMs. I definitely believe there should be a TM Shop in addition to Shasta Ruins. I think to accumulate the amount of shards, for a one-time only TM; doing multiple excavation for the shards is a little much. If I have a team of 8 and I want them to all have a certain move, lets just say the TM for each costs 15 shards. I would need 120 shards, that's a little much. Especially for trainers who evolve their Pokemon into Roserade, Cincinno, Raichu, Simisage, Arcanine, etc. Pokemon like those rely on TMs. I just don't think that amount of work should be put in for a one-time TM.
Open for opinions. Comments. Verdicts.
Thank you for reading.

Let's face it -- TMs are, after rare candies, almost the most valuable things in Cheyenne. They are really crucial to battles and all that, and so people want them. When we had TMs buyable in the shop, it was the only thing anyone ever really bought, and that was understandable -- TMs made a difference in battle and really gave advantages to those that had the cash.
We moved it to Shasta ruins to encourage more interaction with other people. TMs are NOT mandatory in any way for your journey, and they ARE given out as prizes. Interaction is an important part of roleplaying, and it's not as if we never give out shards anyways.
So why would we need to have another shop? The only way it would be maybe feasible is to have a shop that only has a small selection of TMs that are replaced after they are bought, a bit like the pokemon shop.
Yes, the stone-evolutions aren't too happy about it due to the lack of movepool, but that would be your choice to evolve them, knowing that the drawback would be a lesser movepool. It would be a personal choice to rely on TMs.

I can actually agree with you on the small shop. I am sure you wouldn't put up a shop of full TMs. That would only distract members from Shasta. And trust me, I understand the whole interaction piece and applaud Cheyenne for it. However, I don't think TMs should be that rare to come by.
I am oblivious to Cheyenne giving out shards. However, thanks for the update, now I know. lol

Main ways to get shards:
Shasta Ruins
Promos/Birthday Promo (sometimes).
Member or Character of the Month.
Book club.
The lottery. Syl's contest might as well.
or suck it up that you can't give your Pokemon amazing moves before the third gym? We all had the chance and let it slip away when it was in the shops.
Also: The move tutor will be coming back for the Spring, so look out for her if you have a move in mind for your Pokemon.
The staff is capable of buying a *random* TM via Mod Coins. Maybe you can tempt one of them to get you one if it happens to be worthwhile.

The staff can also do mega mod or money grubber and get a choice TM. You can tempt one of us to get you something through that also...
I just recently had a choice TM for money grubber before I gave it to Eff as a thank you for everything she's done

Well thanks I suppose. As the board said this is just a suggestion for a little shop. Shasta Ruins is really the only means, the other ways are singular and would not benefit a team of Pokemon, more like one.
That's good that the move tutor is returning.
But what happens after the 3rd Gym?

used to have a shop, then
but really, you're just making the site too easy if all your team is buffed up in TMs. The naturally learned moves are just as good in RP. The only necessary ones are the HMs which can all be taught for free. TMs are not necessity. They are luxury.
And you earn them by roleplaying

Back then before the Harris Megamall moved, I believe (not 100% sure) that the large megamall came in the next city.
That was the thing with after 3rd gym. But then Harris Megamall replaced it
