_ _ _ _ _ _ . R e s i x Syl puffed out his chest, "Why I am only the dazzling and amazing Professor Syl, of course~!" mood back to exuberant, he seemed to have completely forgotten his earlier frown.
Torchic blinked at the bubbles, shying away from the floating spheres of water. Fire-type instincts were strong indeed. <I'm Jace> she said shyly, hopping closer to the poliwag to get a better look. It wasn't often that she got a chance to see another Pokémon up-close. These days, most of her time was spent lounging around inside her pokeball.
"If you're lost, I can show you the way to the next town," Syl continued cheerfully, keeping his gaze fixed firmly on Kai's chest, "or at least I could have if I didn't have more pressing matters to attend to."
For once in his miserable life he was telling the truth. Thoughts still half-lingered on Team Death meeting. Getting back to the base was important, but there was always time to harass newbie trainers.

“A Professor?” Kai was shocked. Weren’t professors normally really old? Kai pondered the thought, oblivious to his stare being lower than it should have been. “Do I call you Professor?” She blinked curiously. She noticed his gaze had fallen on her shirt. Kai frowned, the pervert was looking at her body! Her hand tilted his head up slightly, staring coldly into his eyes for once. “More pressing matters?” She sounded irritated.
<I like that name> Ripple grinned bouncing out of Kai’s lap to greet the fire Pokémon. <My name is Ripple. It’s nice to meet you!> His smile stretched as far as a Poliwag’s smile could, causing him to squint.

<<ftop>> "You can call me anything you want, darling," he purred, forced to lock eyes with his prey. "I find I'm quite busy these days, so yes, but for such a pretty little thing, I can make an exception just this once. But shh, don't tell my supervisor," he winked at her.
Supervisor? What supervisor? Syl called the shots!
Jace stood her ground, her thin, almost non-existent eyebrow raising questioningly. <It's nice to meet you too? Sorry, I've just never met a water-type pokemon before...> she said, forcing a smile for Ripple's sake. <We were taught to fight, not make friends. But I suppose since my trainer is preoccupied I can chat a little while~ How long have you been with the girl? I've been with Syl for...> Jace paused, trying to recall the exact number, <two years? Maybe?>
She smiled for real this time, bolder than before. <<fbot>>

Kai dropped her hand and rolled her eyes. “So being a professor leaves you rather busy, huh?” She laid back on the grass, talking to the clouds more than Syl. “I could help you know. That is, if you don’t mind,” She smiled softly, a rarity for her, thinking about being able to be surrounded by Pokémon.
Ripple gasped. <Wow, that’s a really long time! I have only been with Kai for maybe a day or so. Earlier I had my first battle with Kai,> He stated proudly. The Poliwag rocked back and forth, pleased with his new acquaintance.
Watching the clouds lead Kai into thinking. She sprung from her position laying down, “What were you doing on route one if your supervisors need you to be working?” She paused, “I’m sorry if I seem like I’m asking a lot of questions, you just seem…different.”

It was a beautiful summer day; sun in the sky, clouds idly drifting by, and a refreshing breeze to keep the travelers cool. It was a shame that summer was almost over, but that only meant that the Pokemon had to start preparing for the change in seasons.
Already, the Pidgey flock had started planning their route for their next Winter visit. They were thinking about Hawaii, depending on whether a hurricane is in the way or not. You never knew with places like that. One little Pidgey had been moving back and forth all day, being nothing but a humble messenger in his family. He had no other purpose, and was mostly considered dead weight.
Speaking of dead weight, as he flew above the sky, he really felt a big lump of something in his chest. Soon it continued down into a pressure near his tail feathers, and he knew what time it was.
<Poop time!> He exclaimed happily, dropping a big white turd on top of a red bush below him. If he had taken another look, he would've realized that that was no bush. Not at all.

_ _ _ _ _ _ . R e s i x Syl shrugged a thin shoulder, gaze shifting to the grass. "Not really; the other Professors do most of the work. Most of the time I just wander around and talk to people. But I have this other job that is keeping me occupied," the words felt bitter in his mouth, and a strange, serious look washed over his face. Syl was never one to keep his emotions in check.
He paused for a moment, before adding with a laugh: "I'm not sure you want to help me, kid, unless you like to ste-" he was cut short by the sickening splatter of something warm and gooey on his head.
Jace held in a laugh, an amused squeal escaping before she forced herself quiet. Shooting Ripple a playful glance, she covered her beak with her wing, stifling more giggles.
"This... just isn't my day!" Syl roared, clawing at the mess in his hair frantically.

Kai couldn’t help but giggle. She looked up to see the innocent Pidgey, the culprit of this mess. “We should probably get somewhere you can wash off…or better yet,” She paused looking at Ripple. Ripple nodded in understanding. Kai scooted closer to Syl, tilting his head down slightly. A small stream of water sprout from Ripple’s small mouth onto Syl’s hair. Kai tried her best to help get the poop out of his hair. “You were saying?”
<Your trainer is very strange.> Ripple commented to Jace.

<<ftop>> His hair was a mess, tangled tendrils limp around his shoulders. He rolled his eyes, and then shot a still-giggling Jace a stern look.
"My beautiful hair," an almost inaudible sigh escaped Syl's lips. "Why haven't they installed electrical outlets in the trees yet? I have a hair dryer in my bag..."
<Strange doesn't even begin to describe him> Jace giggled, <at least your trainer is somewhat normal>
"So," Syl plopped backwards into the grass, pillowing his arms behind his head, "what do newbie trainers do these days? I was snorting coke all the way through the first few routes, so I don't really remember much of my own journey," he let out a raspy laugh.

Ripple laughed heartedly. <Actually, she tends to be very quiet and kept to herself. This is the first time I’ve seen her this social. And she even smiled at your trainer!> He commented with a giggle, suggesting something was going on between the two.
Kai shrugged at the question. “I’m not sure. Talk to druggies who happen to stare at them through binoculars as they fall out of trees?” She gazed up at the clouds, almost expecting something to happen. What did new trainers do? Her gaze fell on Ripple and Jace.
Battle. That is what they did. Wild Pokémon, other trainers, they were always battling. Even the coordinators too. Kai bit her lip, wondering if it would be a good idea to battle this Pokémon professor.

<<ftop>> Syl laughed. "You should feel honored, it's not often I stalk someone as young as you," he elbowed her in the arm playfully, "but even someone as old and crusty as me can still be fabulous~"
He had the audacity to make a 'bling' sound for the imaginary sparkles he saw surrounding him in his mind.
"Have you ever battled another trainer before? I wish I could say it was exciting, but really it's rather droll," he squinted at a particularly puffy cloud, watching as it formed something that resembled a breast. "I can't even recall the last time I had an exciting battle." <<fbot>>

[[Occ:// Eww I have a short post due to multitasking.]]
Kai let out a nervous laughter, wondering if Syl realized how ridiculous he looked. “No, only ever battled the Ekans I caught earlier. Are you a mind reader?” She felt the need to ask, feeling it was rather odd that the topic of battling came up when she had been thinking of it only moments before.
Ripple looked at the two trainers with a curious expression. He wondered if he would have to battle his newly made friend, Jace. <This could be trouble…>

<<ftop>> He shook his head. "Battling is what trainers do, when I first saw you I was thinking of asking you for a battle, but I'm not so sure now," he paused and then added, "besides, if I were a mind-reader, I'd probably have hurt feelings a lot more often, if I even knew what feelings were."
Feeling vulnerable, Syl let out something that sounded like a snort. "I try not to make it a habit to battle complete weaklings." Topic rerouted.
Jace rolled her eyes. <God, what an ass. I don't think it'll come down to us battling, but if it does, it's ok! I used to battle my teammates for practice, and we're all still friends~> She said in a sing-song voice. <<fbot>>

“And yet you chose to battle me,” Kai shook her head finding the situation to be rather ludicrous. However, it could be interesting, and Ripple needed the experience. “How about this, I agree to your battle, but we have stakes. If I win, you have to let me help you. With the Pokémon I mean. And if you win, well I’ll let you decide on your prize,” Kai said in a slightly shaky voice. She was putting a lot on the line just for a chance to get to work with Pokémon.
Ripple smiled at Jace, <Okay, but doesn’t mean I’d go easy on you! And I don’t expect you to go easy on me either- if it does come down to the two of us battling.>

<<ftop>> Syl glanced at her appraisingly. Tall man stood, images of infinite possibilities with this girl flooding his mind and making him stumble. It wasn't often lately that such a pretty offer was laid on a silver platter. She was a feast for the eyes and he was a starving hobo, with great hair.
"How about two-on-two, you have your Ekans in tow I assume?" He asked crisply, yellow-brown eyes staring into hers. He made a point to flip his hair behind his thin shoulders, hoping the heavens would shine down upon still-damp crimson tendrils. No such luck.
He glanced at the darkening sky with his nose crinkled. "Pity."
Jace winked at Ripple, darting to her trainer's feet and waiting for the battle to start. <<fbot>>

“Alright, two-on two it is,” Kai smiled. It would be good practice for her to battle, even if the professor would cream her. “But remember our deal,” She laughed lightly pulling out a pokeball from her pocket. She enlarged the small sphere and waited for Syl to summon his second Pokémon.
Kai took a deep breath running over her odds. From the looks of it, the Torchic would be one of his Pokémon. With Ripple, it’d be fairly easy to take care of the small fire chick. But the other Pokémon, the mystery, that might be a little harder…
Ripple glared competitively at Jace. <Let’s do this!> He smiled at her.
Inside the pokeball, Loca patiently awaited the summoning he knew was coming.

<<ftop>> Syl hesitated. How badly did he want to win? His hand slid into his bag, fingers curling around a well-worn and familiar pokeball. He knew it's contents would utterly decimate any competition. Was that really important?
He fished out a different pokeball and tossed it in a rare display of sportsmanship. A bright-eyed young Riolu shook himself off and blinked twice, dizzy from his recent ride.
"Your move, darling," Syl purred as Jace and Djinn stood side-by-side. <<fbot>>

Kai rolled her eyes at his smugness. She wasn’t as fancy as him as she let her second Pokémon out. The pokeball let out a red light, materializing a Lotad. Ripple bounced to Loca’s side with a grin. It had been a long while since the Lotad had come out of its shell of a pokeball. Loca was slightly different. His top was a similar shade of blue to that of Ripple’s. His small, purple body seemed barely capable of carrying around his rain dish.
“Okay then. Ripple, use Water Sport. Loca, use absorb on the Riolu!” Kai called out without hesitation. She couldn’t back out now.
Ripple raised his head, letting it rain from his mouth around him and the Lotad. The sprinkles of water would protect against any possible fire attacks. Loca on the other hand, was concentrating on the Riolu. He opened his small mouth, waiting for the other Pokémon’s blue-green spheres of energy to enter him.

_ _ _ _ _ _ . R e s i x Djinn braced himself, knowing the attack was coming. Feet dug into the earth, teeth gritted together as the pain reminded him he was still alive and breathing. It was an odd sensation, having your life force absorbed. He watched curiously as they disappeared into Loca's body. Jace eyed the rain warily, taking a step backwards. Her stomach did an anxious flip. "Scratch and Quick Attack," Syl made a point of keeping his tone even, "aim for the poliwag, both of you." Djinn's ears pricked up. He lowered himself to the ground and raced forward in a blur, too fast to see. Jace wasn't far behind, leaping into the air above Ripple and extending the talons on her feet. Riolu used Quick Attack! Torchic used Scratch! <<fbot>>

“Ripple, Bubble on the Torchic,” Kai called out, she felt as anxious about the battle as Jace seemed to be about Water Sport. “And Loca, use Absorb again!”
Ripple’s small body produced a stream of glowing, wet bubbles with a great deal of speed. He probably could have kept up the stream for a good amount of time- Had Djinn not slammed into him with a quick attack. He was only able to get a few decent bubbles and some measly bubbles out in Jace’s general direction.
Loca had to wait to attack, he could not focus on the Riolu when it was using quick attack. The Lotad was not use to such speeds. Upon seeing the quick attack hit Ripple however, he began focusing in on Djinn and trying to absorb the energy out of the Pokémon.

<<ftop>> As each bubble exploded, Jace let out a cry of pain. She tried to duck, but it was of no use. Luckily they stopped as quickly as they started, and Jace shook her off her fluffy feathers.
Djinn lost more energy, and he let out a yelp of his own. Without waiting for Syl to call an order, he repeated his actions and used Quick Attack again, this time aiming for Loca. He would be damned if any more energy would be lost.
"Djinn what are you- oh never mind, Jace follow his lead and use Scratch!" Syl let out an almost inaudible sigh. Pokemon would never change.
Changing directions, Jace swiped at Loca this time, but still kept Ripple in the corner of her eye. <<fbot>>
