Quil kept his face expressionless, but inside he was fuming, this Bidoof was being stubborn. He knew Z was getting tired; he had been fighting two straight battles in a row. After this, he was taking a well deserved break in his pokeball for a little while.
Z had just been preparing another Thundershock attack, when the Bidoof suddenly popped up. Z was startled, but attempted to finish the attack quickly before the pokemon attacked. It was too late though, as the pokemon was already racing towards him with another Roll Out, dust clouds being stirred up behind the pokemon. As the speedy Bidoof collided with the electric type, the bolt of electricity he had been hoarding, exploded into the air and showered the two with sparks. Z groaned, and after a breather, struggled to his feet. A steely glint in his eye.
A dark cloud drifted overhead, mirroring Quil’s mood. If he could have, he would have strangled that Bidoof himself. “Z. Finish this now. Thundershock. Make it hurt.” he ordered.
Z snarled at the pokemon, and with a Leer, he began sprinting towards the pokemon, preparing his attack. He was going to do this Thunderbolt short range, and it was going to hurt. Once he was a decent distance away from the Bidoof, he summoned up all his energy, leaped into the air and launched his attack at the normal type.

Well, this was something Bidoof could chalk up as heuristic later in life, but certainly not now. Partially because battle was no time to start daydreaming about unimportant things. And partially because the shock of the Electrabuzz's attack coursed through his body with a sizzling crackle, making him cry out in pain. As consciousness began to leave him, he sighed in defeat. >Goldeen Goldeen, my sweet Goldeen,<[/I] he moaned, before rolling onto his back and staring up at the sky as he fainted. ::bidoof:: Bidoof has fainted. Quil nodded pleased, and patted the Electabuzz on the head fondly, before touching the proud pokemon with his pokeball. Z was enveloped in a warm red light, and was quickly absorbed into the ball, where he could relax and recuperate.
Quil gave the Bidoof a look of digust and walked away, leaving the fainted pokemon in the middle of the bridge. Someone else could deal with that, he thought, with a scoff. He continued on his way, his eyes keen and alert, kicking random pebbles into the water, spoking to stir up something. His other pokemon needed training.

A Ledyba zoomed through the air, giggling as she made zigzag shapes for her own amusement. There was nothing like the luxury of traversing the skies on her filmy wings. It truly brought her happiness during these dark times. The little Ledyba brought another hope as well. A Mankey. If she looked rather thin and haggard, it was because she hadn't eaten for several days, and was quickly succumbing to hunger. This tasty morsel would have to do until she could find a proper meal to sustain her rapidly weakening body. Leaping up, she raked her claws down the young ladybug's chest, turning her happy giggles into agonised screams as her weak wing membranes were critically damaged, likely never to fly again unless she received urgent medical care. She dropped like a stone as the Mankey began ravaging her body with her vicious claws, screaming desperately for aid. ::ledyba:: ::mankey:: Interfere?

Quil heard a faint screaming and quickly looked over to his right, where a small wooden area was. His heart pounding at the prospect of doing something besides walking along this dull bridge, quickly raced off towards the commotion. His pokeballs bounced at his wraist and he was quickly deciding which pokemon he would use.
Dashing through the trees like Santa's raindeer, he arrived in the area where the screaming was the loudest and obvserved a Mankey attacking a Ledyba. The Mankey was attacking with a viciousness, that made Quil think he could be a good addition to the team. He was little skinny, but a little food would help that. Only paying a small amount of attention to the Ledyba, he called out his first pokemon, Rolo. "Take Down!"
The shadow Phanpy appeared in a red flash of light, he assessed the situation quickly, and began to sprint towards the Mankey a Growl coming from deep in his throat. He began to build up spead and launched his whole body at the pokemon ontop of the Ledyba. Take Down!

As a high pitched growl sounded behind her, the Mankey briefly stopped ravaging the screaming Ledyba as she was hut by the Take Down from the Shadow Phanphy, and in a blur of purple, scarlet and black, she was knocked to the ground, her tired body rolling in the cobblestones before she leapt to her feet. Glaring at the Phanphy, Mankey leapt at the elephantine Pokémon with a slashing of claws in a Scratch with a viciousness only the starving and the wild could muster. Meanwhile, the Ledyba staggered to her feet, wings ruined so that only a Potion or a Pokémon Center could cure them, blood dripping from her chest, stomach, arms and legs. If she didn't get treatment, it was clear that she wouldn't last long as she clutched her wounds, sobbing in pain. Mankey used Scratch.::ledyba::

Quil hissed quietly as the battered Mankey arose and began to head towards Rolo. "Dodge!" he snapped, only to watch motionless as his starter Pokémon was brutally attacked by the vicious Pokémon. It was amazing what starvation could do to a Pokémon. Quil pondered quietly what attack to use next. "Defense Curl!" he yelled, watching a small force field wrap around the Pokémon for a moment, halting the Scratch attack.
"Now Rolo, roll out!" Quil commanded, watching the Phanpy sprint towards the Mankey once again, curl into a tight ball and roll towards the monkey-like Pokémon at a great speed. It would hurt if it hit, and it would only gain more and more power as the attack continued.
Quil sighed exasperatedly at the pitiful whining coming from the Ledyba. "Stop. Complaining." he snapped at the pokemon, hoping the racket would stop. He was trying to focus on the battle.

[ooc; Let it be known that the Mankeys of Route 2 are psycho, and abusive. ] Oh, Roll out- let it roll on. The Phanpy using those moves combined had to be be a beast in combat to most- and as the elephantine Pokemon cannon-balled towards the Pig Monkey, it could've spelled a serious wound as it was plowed over by the elephant. Luckily it's natural toughness from being a fighting type nullified the serious damage the combo would've done normally, but it still hurt the starving mankey enough to make her twitch in anger, the starvation had driven it nearly to psychosis; so it was no surprise when it uttered calmly to the Shadow Phanpy. “Oh, now I've found a big tub of meat... a regular bonaza I won't starve for weeks after I kill you.” The Pokespeech was coated with ice from the anger of the Mankey, the pig monkey leering at the elephantine Pokemon, and then it started spouting unintelligible syllables, throwing it's foot in a mean low kick. ::Mankey:: Hit by Rollout. Used Leer and Low Kick on Phanpy.

[[ Quil loves these Mankeys ^^ ]]
The Phanpy reared back, the Mankey had strong lean muscles from living in the wild, and the elephantine Pokémon knew at once, this would be a tough fight. However, Rolo was tougher, and with a fierce Growl at the pokemon's words, he retorted, "That'll never happen. You're gonna be knocked out and you're coming with us." As the obviously deranged Pokémon started yelling random sounds, the Phanphy knew an attack was coming.
Rolo stood his ground as the flying foot came towards him. He took the attack, and had his second rollout ready to go for a swift counter attack.
Quil merely stood back and watched the battle, pleased to note the Ledyba had not made a sound since he had snapped at her.

The Mankey snarled angrily at the Phanpy's response, even at his low kick's lack of serious damage to the elephantine Pokemon. The Pig Monkey grumbled to itself, glaring at the Phanpy as the Elphantine Pokemon rolled into it a second time, bowling it over. That hurt a lot more than the other attack had, the Pig Monkey was really angry now! As it stood up, it grumbled to itself, blabbering and glaring at the Elephant. It let out a huff, as it focused it's energy, and then it charged at the Elephantine with intent to scratch it's face up, swiping repeatedly towards the long nose Pokemon, and aiming for it's eyes. ::Mankey:: Hit by Rollout! Hurt! Used Focus Energy and Scratch.

Rolo let out a snarl as he landed on his feet a few feet away from the angered Mankey. The elephantine pokemon sweatdropped as the Mankey began muttering to itself and glaring. He wasn't so sure if he wanted a pokemon as insane in this one traveling with him. Haiku was insane enough. The shadow pokemon let out a small sigh, it often seemed like he was the only normal pokemon in his team.
Oh well. That just meant he got to be out of his ball more. Rolo narrowed his eyes as the Mankey lunged towards him, and with a quick roll, escaped the worst of the damage. The left side of his face got nailed though as a result and he winced in pain. Shaking the hurt off, he coiled up again for his third Rollout!

The defense curl boosted the power of rollout, so the third iteration really did a number on Mankey. She decided that if she didn't end this soon, she would definately loose. After being hit into the air by said rollout, she recovered mid air and reasserted her momentum to come down on the poor phanpy. She held her paw out, getting ready to use Scratch.
<"Now, this shall be your grave!"> The vicious mankey said before bringing down her judgment on the phanpy.
::Mankey:: Mood: Batshit The mankey uses Scratch on the phanphy!

[[ Sorry fast post- I have to go! ]]
The Phanpy watched in glee as her attack sent the pokemon flying into the air, but the glee quickly turned into dread as the realized sharp claws were coming right back down on him. The elephantine pokemon quickly tried to scramble away, but gravity was not on his side and the Mankey slammed into him with its body and claws. The pokemon lay on the ground stunned, before pushing, the skinny pokemon off him. Hopefully this last rollout would finish the Mankey off.
The phanpy backed up, and with a mighty yell launched his fourth, even more powerful Rollout attack.

The Rollouts had certainly gathered in power over the last few moments. That Phnphy was not only strong, it was fast. And the scrawny Mankey couldn't avoid it. Sent to the ground by the sheer power of the attack, Mankey shrieked in pain as she tried desperately to claw the Phanphy away from her tired, starving form. Eventually, she could no longer keep going and simply keeled over, looking up at the bright blue sky one more time with an almost shocked expression on her face, before the blackness took over he rfailing, malnourished body and she fainted, glad for the rest, however brief it may be. Ledyba cried out in happiness, despite her continued bleeding believing she was safe from harm for now. >Oh thank you thank you thank you!< she exclaimed, bowing, then wincing with a squeak of pain as the movement agitated her fresh wounds. ::mankey:: Mankey has fainted. Rolo gains a level.

Quil nodded, "Good Rolo." he said, the praise was brief, but it was sincere. He had a soft spot for most of his pokemon. Quil walked over to the limp Mankey, and saw that under the skin and bones were strong muscles. Once fed he would be formidable opponent. This pokemon was worthy of his team. With that decision made, the trainer reached into his bag and pulled out a pokeball. He dropped it on the Mankey and watched for the result. He replied to the Ledyba with a grunt, not even bothering to turn towards the pokemon
Rolo shook his purple, dust coated skin off, a cloud of dist floated around him. The pokemon looked concerned and darted towards the Ledyba, the Shadow Phanpy was ironically one of the few pokemon on his team that had compassion. "Glad I coudl help. Are you alright? That looks pretty bad. We should take you to the Pokemon Center." Rolo said gently nosing at the wing.
"Quil...?" the elephantine pokemon looked up at his trainer, a question in his eyes, knowing that his trainer had heard everything. "No. It's weak anyways." the trainer snapped, finally turning and glaring at the Ledyba as if daring it to argue.

Ledyba felt her spirits lift as the Phanphy asked her whether or not she was alright, and offered to take her to the Pokecenter. A place for wild and trained Pokemon alike to heal... it sounded like a wonderful idea, especially with Ledyba's love to fly. But then the Trainer's cold words cut through her like a knife, and Ledyba flinched, feeling her hopes crumble like her wings had in the Mankey's frenzy. Should she just give up? Let the Trainer move on with her life and leave her to die? If she was left here on her own, she most almost certainly be dead by sunrise. If not by bleed-out, then by some predator seeing an easy meal who couldn't fly away. She could just imagine a pack of Rattata tearing her apart as she screamed, and shuddered at the thought, feeling tears prick at her eyes again. No! This was no time for tears! If she cried, the Trainer would surely leave her there. She didn't seem the type to be moved by emotion, unlike her Phanphy, so she had to prove herself. >I'm strong enough!< she squeaked, stamping one of her six feet on the ground despite the blinding pain it provoked. >And if I could fly, I'd show you!< She glared fiercely up at Quil through her tear filled eyes, refusing to lower her gaze. Meanwhile, the Mankey, in her combination of starvation and exhaustion, could not even regain consciousness to struggle against capture, and the Pokeball almost instantly sounded the chime that signalled the successful capture of the spunky fighting type who just wouldn't quit. When she was conscious, that is. ::mankey:: You caught Mankey Gender: Female Level: 13 Ability: Attacks: Covet. Leer. Focus Energy. Scratch. Low Kick. Fury Swipes. Karate Chop.

The Phanpy looked dejected at his trainers words, and after the heart-felt speech from the Ledyba, he looked up at Quil with pleading eyes. "Come on Quil. It's just for a little while, we can't leave her here to die! I can't have that on my concience." The elephantine pokemon moved closer to the bug type, and nudged her gently to praise her for her braveness and resilence.
Quil glared at the Ledyba with cold eyes, "Words mean nothing. You should prove it. After all that Mankey did beat you up pretty bad." he said, words slipping from his mouth like silk. Quil stared at the shaking pokeball as his Phanpy pleaded with him. He was looking more and more ticked off by the second. As the pokeball dinged, the trainer picked it up and shoved it in his pocket roughly before stomping towards the pair.
"Rolo. You're too compassionate. You need to stop being so affected by emotions." he snapped, shooting his starter a look. "Here weakling, get in the ball. Since my pokemon is so fixated on helping you, I guess I will help you after all." he said, tossing a ball at the Ledyba's foot. She could make her own choice. If she didn't get in the ball, he was walking away.

Take These Broken Wings{ Ledyba } Pokeball Used
That Mankey...it was all his fault that she was like this. The way the Phanpy nudged her was encouraging, but this trainer, how dare he even do such a thing. He was being cruel to her, saving her then leaving her to die. It was not an acceptable choice to her-- and with eyes narrowed into a venomous stare as she was brought with death's evil glare, it only became obvious.
She was weakened, yes, but only as the seconds passed did she understand how weak she really was. Thankful she was for the Phanpy's support, but she was getting tired. Dizzy. Nauseous and in a great need for a rest. Quil's demanding nature was not helping her flaring emotions as they left her with a feeling of unaccomplishment in her life.
She had been told to avoid this area, the one where the wild Mankey were most territorial, but she was still caught around here through sheer luck. It happened to be a great shortcut, and there were a lot of snacks...those rude Mankey's didn't have to be such brutes about it so much! She doubted that she would ever have any good feelings towards something so primitive.
Then it appeared that Quil had taken some sympathy on her, even if she was too heated up to really appreciate it at this point. With a weak, yet disappointed stare her head hit the top of the Pokeball, knowing that her survival was what really mattered at this point. She was sucked in and the sphere hardly needed to shake, easily capturing her.

Quil glared the Ledyba down, feeling no sympathy but only a twinge of annoyment that his Phanpy was so weak. As the Pokémon all but fell on the ball, the capture was quickly confirmed with a pleasent ding. Quil plucked up the ball and sent a brief glare at the Phanpy before continuing on the Route, Rolo trotting besides him. <Thanks Quil.> he said, raising his trunk gratefully.
Quil gave no sign he had heard the thanks and instead said, "You know. That was a sign of weakness back there. We should not aquire weak Pokémon. They don't deserve to come with us. Don't do it again." Without waiting for an answer or argument from the elephantine pokemon, he summoned Rolo back into his pokeball, for a rest along with the Ledyba.
Quil sighed, his Pokémon still had a ways to go. But, now what? Quil pondered this as he continued along the route.

Azurill: The Polka Dot Pokemon
Two Azurill found a puddle in the middle of the area where the tall grass liked to grow, usually those cotton plants with the sticky seeds liked to blow about at this time of year, but these little Azurill had already broken a whole bunch of them down. Instead, they tried to make mini forts with them, while the other tried to use their Splash attack in order to knock it down.
<Mission accomplished! It is now raining...Torchic and eggs! Breakfest has been served for all of the people of Azurillville!> One has announced randomly, mocking a salute at her friend.
<H-hey! That isn't fair! I had it so they were starving! O-ok. Your mission has failed because your big butt let out a fart, and poisoned all of the food! Your people die and I win! Mission success!> The male joked around, though a bit cruelly as he shook his rear end at her.
Face flushed, the female Azurill stomped her foot down, as if to make a point. <You can't just decide that! Besides, you're the one with the big butt!> She huffed, irked that he would play do dirty.
<Oh yeah?>
<Yeah!>
