<So then when that Buneary came near me, I smashed him with my Tackle! No problem at all!> A Pineco laughed as the trio of wanderers made their way towards some of the sewers. Apparently it was ok to explore the darker parts of the city, even if it was a bit dangerous. Susumu originally came out here to find Pokemon, but the thought of going in some dark, creepy place simply excited him. <Buneary, huh? I don't think I've ever met one. Are they vicious?> Madatsubomi turned to the Pineco, walking beside him with elegant strides. Of course with their small feet, they couldn't keep up with Susumu, so he was walking especially slow for them. <This one was very mean. It hated bugs. How can you hate a bug?!> He exclaimed, looking at Bo-Bo as if to force her to agree with him. The Bellsprout flinched and instantly raised up her leaves, shaking them as if to deny his indirect accusations. <Oh, I love bugs! Love'em! They uh...keep me thin when they bite me. Hahaha...> It was a nervous laugh, but the naive Pineco seemed to buy it for the time being. Susumu suddenly stopped walking when he saw a strange, giant pipe in the far end of the city, where sewage leaked out into the river from the second route. Ugh. How...sad.

::Diglett::
Nearby, a diglett was digging himself through the grass area around the concrete. He'd been born in this grass area, and he figured he'd die there too. He wasn't really sure what he was doing here, his parents were out doing something and his friends were too busy for him today. He sighed, becoming suddenly sad. He was lonely often. He had been lonely and unhappy before, but this was different. He wondered if anyone would come and save him.
He then spotted Susumu, going through the concrete itself to reach him. He loved this guy already, maybe he could save him! He'd be his prince and Susumu would save him from the evil dragon of loneliness. His sadness would end here!
<"Hi!"> The diglett said, bouncing up and down in the concrete. He felt his senses tingle, this was so exciting! Maybe this trainer would play with him.

<Oh~! Wanna play chase?> Madatsubomi took any chance she could to avoid the 'how great bugs are' conversation with the Pineco, and this Diglett came up oh so conveniently. If Bo-Bo hadn't acted when she did, Susumu would've just went on by ignoring the strange Pokemon calls. They were rather common to hear in this area, since wild Pokemon lived in the deeper, more wild parts of the town. <I don't know, Bo-Bo. It might have fleas.> The Pineco looked at the Diglett with concern, but decided to hop closer to Susumu to offer him some kind of protection. He didn't sense a threat from the youngster, so it seemed ok to just let the pair play. <He's just kidding. So. Um. Can I be it?> She asked, looking sweetly at the Diglett. <It's ok to use attacks, but no fighting.> She nodded at her own rules, hoping that it would be ok on both sides. ((Sorry bros. I've been playing Pokepark Wii anndddd...its fun. XD)) "Ah. Is that...a Diglett?" Susumu heard a commotion going on near his feet, and as he tried to back up he bumped into Yamato. When did they move around so fast? He only took out his Pokedex to examine the small mole Pokemon, actually impressed that it was digging through the concrete.

The diglett went from excited to purely elated, he couldn't believe they wanted to play with him! They were so nice, too; he couldn't pass this up! He giggled, nodding his head as best as he could at the bellsprout.
<"Sure!"> The diglett burrowed through the concrete, getting a headstart. He knew the area, so he might have an advantage over her. He thought this would be one exciting adventure.
<"Catch me if you can!"> The diglett giggled, digging his way through the concrete.

"What in the world are you two doing?" Susumu raised an eyebrow as the Bellsprout playfully chased after the Diglett, and it was obvious that there was a good atmosphere between the two Pokemon. So good, that he didn't dare bother to interrupt them. Instead, the trainer looked around for a good, clean looking spot to sit down on. Not finding anything, he merely plopped down on his bag. It was a kind of bumpy seat, but it worked. <I will try and catch you!> Bo-Bo laughed as her vines worked to keep up with the Diglett, but even when he was digging through the hard concrete, he was still plenty faster than her. This wasn't good at all! At this rate, she was going to lose! Thinking on her feet, she raised a leaf at the ground away from the Diglett, and in a swift motion she shot out a Seed Bomb. The said seed landed on the hard concrete before making a loud 'POP'! Enough to startle a Pokemon, at least. Thinking that this was her chance to catch up, she made a dash towards the Diglett, only getting a little tired from all of the effort. She was still pretty slow, especially when it was so snowy out here, but she thought it was a good effort on her part.

Diglett gasped as the Seed Bomb popped above him harmlessly, making him surface to check what that noise was and whether his new play mate was alright. As he surfaced, leaving a circular mound of dirt surrounding him, he realised that it had been a trick, and the Bellsprout had caught up to him enough to win the game. >Hey, that's cheating!< exclaimed the Diglett, but he giggled to show that it was all in good humour. >U-um... do you wanna play another game?< he asked tentatively. expecting to be turned down. Even his friends only played with him because their parents forced them into it, really. At least the mothers did. The fathers thought he was weird. It almost made his little heart break with sorrow. ::diglett::

<Haha, I gotcha!> The Bellsprout laughed as she managed to tag the Diglett on his back side. At his little cheating comment, she couldn't help but giggle. <No way, silly. I said at the beginning that we could use attacks.> She winked at him, giving him a comforting pat on the back for trying so hard. Honestly, she didn't think that she would get him so easily. Most likely he was younger than she was. <I-I want to play too.> The Pineco shyly moved closer to the pair, eyes curious at what kind of game he could play with them. Chase would've been too hard for him, especially when he didn't have any legs, but if they didn't have to run too much, then maybe he could give it a try. <I've always believed in the phrase, the more the merrier. Maybe something different this time. I'll make up a quiz! Three questions, if you can get them right, you win.> She beamed, hoping that he would stay just a little longer. They were bored, and playing with each other wasn't always very fun unless there was a new face involved. <Quizzes? That sounds too easy. Of course I'm in.> Yamato huffed, giving the Diglett a playful nudge, trying to urge him to play along with him. <First question! What city are we in right now?> Bo-Bo asked, eyes glistening as she waited for the Diglett's answer.

Diglett jumped up and down, still not quite coming out of his hole as he beamed his childish excitement at the Bellsprout, his friendly demeanour extending to the Pineco as he approached, and he grinned at him warmly. >Yeah, you can join in!< he giggled delightedly, waiting for an idea of what the next game would be now that the two had agreed to keep playing with him. Oh, a quiz! He wasn't exactly the smartest, but he did enjoy getting questions right from time to time, and any game was a fun game with this particular Diglett. >U-um... Yamato held in chuckle as a snicker appeared in his eyes, trying extremely hard not to offend the young Diglett for his valiant effort in answering the question. It tried hard enough, but sadly it was wrong. <Ya know...you're the first Diglett we've seen. Are there really enough of you guys here for this place to be called Diglett City?> He asked, coughing as he tried to erase his laughter from his throat. Bo-Bo glared at the Pineco, but had to admit that all was fair in quizzes and war. <It's actually Ile Electrique.> She explained, except in Pokemon terms so it didn't sound french. Which would've been silly. The Bellsprout quickly thought of an obvious question, in hopes that it would brighten the Diglett's spirits. <Next question! What color is your nose?> She giggled, hoping that he could at least answer that one. Otherwise, they'd have to lie and say that he's right. <Uh...I know! If you're stuck, ask me for a hint.> Yamato added with a joking smile, all in good humor. Though one had to wonder if this Diglett ever saw his reflection.

Pokemon encounter ! The Diglett pouted as he realized that his answer was wrong. It wasn't his fault he couldn't read though, nor had a trainer to tell him what places they were in. <My family's the biggest family in the city! There's hundreds of Digletts underground right now, playing. I know 'cause I checked.> He said as an excuse, exaggerating just a bit.
The next question seemed pretty easy, though. He'd once dug his way out of the ground and spied a piece of glass, perhaps a fragment of a mirror. As he looked at it, he saw a rather frightening sight - a huge brown thing with a red nose. He told his parents all about it and discovered it was his own reflection.
<It's red, of course!> He said proudly, raising his head just a bit higher out of the ground in a regal pose.

<Wow, really? Like, digging through this really hard ground?> Bo-Bo asked, clearly impressed with the Diglett's story. Her vines stomped down on the cement to make her point, but it felt so hard. So stable. She was positive that her vines had no way of even digging in to absorb its nutrients, if it had any. But at the correct answer to her question, she beamed, knowing that she could make the final question a little harder. She needed help though; motioning for Yamato to come closer, the two whispered possible questions between each other while Susumu watched in the background. What in the world were they doing? They were all excited over something, but he had a strong gut feeling to stay out of this one and just wait and see. <Ok, Diglett. We have one last question for you. Answer it right, and ya win. Articuno is a bird of ice. Zapdos is a bird of electricity. What is the bird of fire?> The Pineco asked, trying to make a spooky voice in order to trigger the Diglett's memory. Of course the only reason Bo-Bo and him knew the answer was because their parents told them at a young age. They were familiar with some minor legends, though they were merely wild folk tales. + THE FINAL QUESTION IS MADE.

Diglett squealed in delight as he got the answer right, jumping up and down in undiluted, childish joy, the dirt around his pit spraying everywhere in his celebrations. And then came the final question,and this had a grounding effect on the little Diglett again. Oh geez... His dad had told him about legendaries before. >U-um... <Moltres, that's right.> The Pineco wasn't one to cause unnecessary pauses for drama, and preferred to get right to the point. With a grin towards the Diglett, he could also feel Bo-Bo's approving glance towards the pair. That meant that the Diglett won at the quiz! He was so sure that he only had a 50% chance of getting it right too, especially after that guessing show the small fry put on. <You did it, sport. Now, what now?> Yamato quizzically looked around, unable to think of any more games they could play. The city really did look kind of boring, but he was a forest Pokemon, so what would he know? <Hey, Diglett? What do you do for fun around here?> The Bellsprout asked with a curious gaze towards the ground type. It was pretty nice, just talking to another Pokemon like this. No battles, no stress. It really should've been like this more often.

The Diglett squealed in delight as he got it right. >Oh yeah, go Diglett! It's your birthday!< he squeaked, making totally random ninety degree turns back and forth. Upon being asked what he did for fun, he became noticeably subdued, even to the point of seeming sad. He looked down a little as he tried to come up with a story, but in the end decided to tell the truth to who he saw as his new friends. >U-um... I don't have fun very often." <They don't play with you? They don't...sound like friends.> The Pineco tried to think it over a little. He was kind of friends with Bo-Bo, especially because they were out together right now. Though he was taught that they were only team mates. It was a strange way of thinking at first, but it felt so right after a few battles. Susumu, at times, reminded him of a father figure. That human was the one that guided his lifestyle, and fed him, and kept him safe. He couldn't imagine calling him a 'Master' though. "Hey, Diglett. Want some food?" Susumu spoke softly, not wanting to spook the youngster. It looked sad for some reason, and wanting to calm it down a little, he took out a small Ritz cracker from his lunch bag. He figured that things in the ground liked salty things, since Ken craved the stuff a lot. <Ya know...maybe they just don't know you that well. Have you ever tried talking to just one of them? That's how I made my first friend.> The Bellsprout thought back to her time in the first route, and remembered meeting a small Nidoran. He was mean at first, especially with his other friends. They happened to meet on accident, and after a small conversation, actually liked being around each other.

<A battle? Really?! I'm game, like, I'm seriously, totally game.> Yamato looked like he was ready to jump head first into the challenge, but Susumu caught on and stopped them quickly. There was something he had been meaning to use since his first trip to the new Megamall, and this would come in handy-- at least, for Bo-Bo. "Before you start doing anything crazy, Bo-Bo, I have something for you." The Bellsprout looked curious at the mention of her name, and waddled closer. Her curiosity only grew as he motioned to grab something out of his bag, and out of no where a weird helmet with strange wires was attached to her head. Why, she felt like a TV! "Don't ask. It'll help. Yama, don't get too excited. Let'em make the first move." If they were even having a battle, that is. From the excitement from his Pineco, it only seemed obvious. Why, even he was starting to feel anxious for a battle. Yamato rolled his eyes at the order, wanting to dive head first into an attack, but took it slow this time and Hardened his body. At least with a wee bit of defense, he felt more confident.

{ Goodbye, Girl }
The Diglett looked confused at the strange device on Yamato's head. It was something he had never seen before! It looked like something out of a sci-fi commercial! However, he had no time to marvel. He had to start off this battle! He submerged back into the ground and popped his head out violently and hurled sand at the Bagworm Pokemon. He then hid underground, burrowed towards Yamato, and popped out with a fierce-looking face to try to scare him!

The device wearing Bellsprout watched in confusion as the battle went on, feeling a funny tingling in her head when Yamato was damaged by the Astonish. She hadn't reacted to the Sand Attack, but goodness, that move was frightening to watch. The Pineco was teary eyed as he struggled to shake out the sand, but the Astonish got him before he could. He huffed, rolling backwards several times until he came to a stop. Hey, this wasn't right. He was getting knocked around by some kid! "Retaliate! Take it Down!" The trainer responded, not wanting his own Pokemon to get to hurt. That sand would be a problem, but his Pokemon was mostly defensive--Yama could at least endure some of this Diglett's attacks. On the plus side, he had some resistance to ground type moves. It was the main reason why he was using the Pineco instead of the more offensive Bellsprout. <Sorry, but you know how it is.> The Pineco grunted, using most of his power into one reckless Take Down assault. With the accuracy drop, it appeared to be an easy dodge.

The superior weight of the Pineco slammed into the little Diglett's body, the spines ripping open thin grooves in the Diglett's hide and drawing a squeal of pain from the inexperienced Ground Type as he scrambled back to get a little distance, whimpering in pain. No. He couldn't cry. Wouldn't cry. These people had showed him such a fun few minutes, and he wasn't gonna ruin it by crying. He was gonna be a big tough Diglett. If he was gonna lose, he was gonna lose with dignity. Closing his eyes, he focussed on the ground beneath him, making it shake and tremor. He was inexperienced, but his mum and dad had taught him how to defend himself, and he was putting it to action. The tremor wasn't particularly powerful, but it was an attack nonetheless. Unfortunately, the little Ground Type didn't know the Pineco was resistant to this kind of assault. ::diglett:: Used Magnitude (Grade 4)
