Akia had heard about the trainer lounge in Verona city. It seemed like a good place to learn how to battle with Keko. As she walked down the streets to where the lounge was she got a couple of strange looks on the way. Her wings quivered slightly as people continued to stare. She hadn't realized she looked so different. She may have been a staraptor pokemorph but she thought she looked alright.
Just up ahead she spotted the trainer lounge. She looked back before quickly running inside. The receptionist stared at her as well as she walked over to the different battle room doors. She choose one at random and walked into a battle that had just ended. "Um, Is there someone here I can battle?" her tail feathers waved slightly as she looked at the other trainers.

Turning from Zac, he noticed the winged girl. In truth, he stared for a moment, too, before smiling at her. He had just battled a Pokemorph earlier that very day, after all. They were different in terms of appearance, but little more than that. He wasn’t biased -- too much, at least.
”I’m up for another battle. Sorry, but you‘ll have to face the fanatic woman on your own,” Cleon said, grinning at Zac as the younger boy left the room. ”I’m Cleon,” he continued to the girl, sweeping a small bow. ”And this is Target.” Upon standing upright, the brown-haired youth pulled out a Pokeball and revealed a small blue tadpole, a Poliwag. The creature trilled a cute little cry as he looked about the room, eyes wide and excited.
<More target practice?> he inquired, looking eagerly about between the two trainers. He paused when he gave a closer look at Akia. <You have wings. You’re pretty.>

Akia smiled back at the other boy. "My name is Akia." He pulled out a pokeball and let out his pokemon. Akia's curiosity was peaked when he let out the water pokemon. "Hello Target. It's nice to meet you." She let out a soft laugh as it noticed her wings and complemented her. "Thank you very much." Akia reached into her pocket and pulled out Keko's pokeball. "This is my friend Keko." Red light shot out of the pokeball as she pressed the center button. When it faded Keko now rested on the floor at her feet. She blinked her red eyes as she looked around. When she spotted the other trainer and his pokemon she bowed her head in greeting. <It is a pleasure to meet you.> Keko looked up at her trainer, wondering what they would be doing. <Will we be battling now?> Akia turned to her pokemon with an excited smile on her face. "Yes we are." Keko nodded before turning to the other pokemon. <I am ready.>

Examining the Pokemon revealed by Akia's sphere, Cleon was surprised to see one of the specimen only obtainable via fossil. Was this her starter? Geez, the Rangers really must have some great Pokemon hiding out in their forest. Some of the scientists he had met at the museum would kill for the chance to see a living Kabuto. Heck, even Cleon found himself fond of the little creature.
"Well, if you're ready. Target! Go for a bubble attack!"
Target nodded, then bounced over to his battle buddy. After smiling a friendly greeting to the Kabuto, he shot out a stream of bubbles from his mouth.

Keko waited as the poliwag bounced over to her. She was both a water and a ground type so it would do the normal amount of damage. She shook herself when the bubble attack hit her. It hurt as much as the bubble attack could. Her red eyes watched the poliwag as she waited for Akia to call out an attack. Akia looked over the other water pokemon. It would be pretty tough to beat it. "Keko, use scratch." Keko nodded before hurrying forward to attack her opponent. She swung one of her claws at the poliwag hoping it would hit.

Both Pokemon were not particularly built for swift movement on land, and as such… this battle would me mildly entertaining to watch as both water-types bounced and scurried awkwardly across the floor of the battle room. Cleon couldn’t help but laugh slightly even as his Poliwag was scratched across the noggin. Seeing him roll away, smacked in the face by a small yellow claw, was just somehow ridiculous. And with Target firing bubbles? Such a fierce battle this would turn out to be. Still, neither Pokemon really had an advantage, save Target’s experience. He’d have to keep his guard up.
”Keep on Bubbling. Try and stay away from it, though, don’t go waddling right up,… it‘ll be more of a challenge,” Cleon advised, shaking his head, still chuckling slightly at his Pokemon’s behavior. ‘Oh, hi enemy. Just right up in your face so you can smack me. Not doing much else.’ That was something Target would do. Telling him that it would be harder to strike an opponent further away would make the challenge appealing to the silly young tadpole.
This time, listening to his instructions thanks to the promise of greater practice, Target continued rolling away after being hit, finally bouncing up and shooting bubbles across the court.

Keko shook herself once more as the bubbles hit her. She watched as her opponent got farther away from her. It would be hard to keep up. She wished she could move faster. "Keko, use scratch again." Keko nodded and tried to hurry toward the poliwag. It would probably be hard to hit it if it kept jumping farther away. As she rushed to the other pokemon she raised her claw once more to hit it.

"Jump over it, go!" Cleon called out. Target grinned at the fantastic idea and changed directions, ready to bounce over the funny-looking water-type. However, just as he was nearing the Kabuto, he stumbled over nothing in particular and fell face-first to the ground, providing the perfect opportunity for a nice scratch on the backside. "Bubble?" Cleon called out quickly. In response, the tadpole -- in quite a bit of pain, actually, as that scratch had been a good one thanks to the momentum -- rolled onto his back and sprayed bubbles directly up at Keko.

Keko was surprised when her attack was able to make the other pokemon fall. She rushed forward to attack it once more and was hit by bubbles again. All the water from the bubbles made the floor beneath her slick. As she raised her claw to attack once more she slipped. The world seemed to spin as she flipped over onto her back. Keko blinked up at the ceiling before waving her legs.

Alright, it was stuck with its soft belly face-upwards! Now was his chance! "Target, jump over and bubble straight down!" Target nodded, rolled to his feet, and hurried over to where the Kabuto was struggling; the slick floor did not phase the Poliwag as he scurried over, then jumped over the struggling fossil-Pokemon. Once he was directly above Keko, Target released a powerful stream of bubbles right where the Kabuto's belly was.

Keko waved her claws around as she tried to turn herself back over. She knew she had to hurry or her opponent would take advantage of this moment. Just at that moment she saw the poliwag jump above her. She knew what was coming and shut her eyes. She winced in pain as the bubbles hit her weaker underbelly.
The force off the bubble attack sent her careening across the floor into a nearby wall. She took even more damage on impact but at least it made her flip back over. She sat there dazed for a moment. The shock of a critical hit from the bubble plus the damage from hitting the wall had taken a lot out of her. Akia had winced as well when Keko had gotten hit. She was worried about her but knew they couldn't stop just yet. "Keko, harden." Keko hunched down as she raised her defense a little.

Ah, so it was going to try playing defensively? Cleon didn't want to afford his Poliwag's attacks doing nothing. Best get this over with quickly; he had been planning on using Hypnosis, but now he should just keep bubbling. "Keep on using Bubble, Target," he said.
Target stayed where he was, remembering his trainer's request to keep his distance, and fired more bubbles out at the hardening Kabuto.

Keko stayed hunched down as the poliwag fired the bubble attack at her. She winced in pain as the attack slammed her back into the wall behind her. She knew she wouldn't last much longer. Keko turned her eyes back on the poliwag, a fire in their red depths. She may loose the battle but she would not go down easy.
Akia saw the change in Keko's eyes and new what her friend wanted to do. Her own golden eyes flashed as she called out what would probably be Keko's last attack. "Keko, Use scratch once more!" Keko raced once more toward the poliwag, this time using the wet floor to her advantage. She slide at high speed at the other pokemon and swung her claw at it once more.

"Just keep firing those bubbles, Target, you can do it!" Cleon called out. Target, however, was temporarily out of steam, and while Akia slid along the wet floor at a surprising clip, he was unable to defend himself against the creature's claws. With a squeak, he slid backwards upon impact. The scratch hurt, but he was still standing. Taking a deep breath, the small tadpole narrowed his eyes and shot yet another stream of bubbles at the Kabuto.

As Keko watched the bubbles come toward her she relaxed. She knew she would not be able to dodge nor be able to fight after it hit. She closed her red eyes and waited for the final blow. Akia winced as the attack hit Keko. The ancient pokemon was pushed back across the floor once again.
Before Keko could slide very far Akia stepped forward to catch her. She lifted the now fainted pokemon up in her arms. "You did a good job Keko. We'll win the next fight." Her wings rustled behind her as she looked up at the other trainer and his pokemon. She smiled at them both as she held Keko close to herself. "Thank you so much for the battle. We had a lot of fun."

Cleon smiled widely at his Poliwag as the critter slid across the wet floor towards him, giggling profusely and spraying out bubbles as he went. "Good job, little guy. Time for a break, though, okay?" He returned the still bouncing Poliwag to its Pokeball, then turned his attention to Akia.
"You did a great job; I'm sure you'll win next time, easy." He held out his hand for a handshake, still smiling. This had been his first victory in quite some time, and though he realized it must look rude, he could not remove the grin from his face. He supposed it was natural to be pleased after a victory, but he did not want to hurt the Pokemorph's feelings.
Target gains two levels. Keko gains one level.

Akia held Keko with one hand while reaching her other hand into her pocket. She pulled out Keko's pokeball and pressed the center button. A ray of red light shot out and pulled Keko into the depths of the pokeball. She then put away the pokeball before turning back to Cleon. She smiled back at him and shook his hand. "Thank you so much. Me and Keko will do our best to become stronger." Her wings rustled behind her as she thought of the many battles to come.
