With a grand total of one Pokemon, who she had yet to use, and yet to even want to look at, Kenna approached the Verona Trainer Lounge. The idea with battling with such an un-cute creature was hardly appealing. At the same time, it was worth a shot, wasn’t it? See what the little critter had. And besides, Kenna hadn’t had a Pokemon battle in years, ever since her Pokemon were taken away by her former employers.
It might be fun, with or without a Pokemon she really liked.
The lounge was light thanks to the open windows and door. At the front desk was an exasperated woman who continually told trainers that battles would continue, but healing would not, or that most of the battle rooms had windows to open if they wanted light. Kenna smiled slightly at the clear stress she was going through. It was her own fault for working here. “Could I have a room, please? Just for a little while.” Kenna did not tell the receptionist that she’d heard the status of the blackout, even forcing her to repeat herself by blinking politely in confusion. Bobbing a quick bow of thanks, she bounced off to one of the rooms.
Inside was dim, though she could see the whole area. One half was set up like a mini battle field while there were a few couches in the corner for chilling out. She settled down in the corner of one such couch to wait, sinking into its thick red cushions. Not bad for a place that saw combat. She wondered how often these couches needed repairs or replacing due to poorly aimed attacks.

| [bg=C2B280][atrb=border,0,true]With Mao resting in his bag, while his head just hung there outside of the bag and Ursus walking proudly next to Trey, they entered the building. Before going to the desks, he went to a small table close to the entrance and put his bag on it.
He then took out Mao, and as he did that, Mao started purring slightly, before opening his eyes a little. "We're here buddy, time to wake up!" Trey then smiled and Mao jumped out of his arms and onto Trey's shoulder. "You're as active as always" Trey smiled. Mao slept a lot, but when he was awake, he was one hyperactive kitten.
Trey then walked towards the desk, as he reached it, the lady was about to greet him as Mao then jumped on the desk and started licking his paws. Trey grinned, but didn't say anything about it.
The woman was irritated, that was obvious and became even more clear as she bruskly said "Battle room four, someone's waiting!" Trey turned around, Mao jumped back on his shoulder and walked to Battle Room four. As he opened the room's door, he noticed that it was quite large, had a real-life battlefield and then noticed a trainer sitting on what seemed to be a comfortable couch.
As trey took his first step in, Mao jumped onto the floor and started walking by Trey's left side, while Ursus walked at his right. As he got closer, Trey started blushing... It was a girl!?
"H-he-hello..." he said and Ursus shook his head a little. He respected his trainer, but found his low self-esteem really pathetic. | [bg=C2B280][atrb=border,0,true][rs=2] | [bg=C2B280][atrb=border,0,true]OOC// My header~! |

Oh, of course. She got a male who didn’t know how to react around girls. That would make things fun, at least. Kenna giggled out loud as Trey gave a shaky greeting, and couldn’t help but look at his Pokemon with longing in her eyes. Both of them were adorable. Lucky bastard. ”I’m Kenna,” the small teenager said, standing up and sticking out her tiny hand. ”Are you here to battle with me?” Her light blue eyes were wide as she looked at Trey. ”I only have one Pokemon, and it’s my first time. So go easy on me, okay?”

| [bg=C2B280][atrb=border,0,true]Trey felt embarrassed when the girl just started laughing at him... He couldn't help it, but hey, he'd show her in battle!
Trey also noticed the look in her eyes when she saw both of his pokémon. It even looked for a second as if she was going to grab them and storm out of the door.
She was older than Trey, but it was still her first battle? That was a tad strange, but hey, everyone's free to choose when they start their journey. As Mao looked at him with eyes that just expressed a deep desire to battle, he smiled, yet shook his head. "Sorry Mao, but Ursus has to grow stronger as well!" Mao reacted with a nod, he was sad that he couldn't battle but also understood why. Ursus was a much lower level than him, so training him was a priority.
"I-I... I won't do th-at! I'm g-going all out!" He then said as he took place on one side of the field with Mao sitting next to him and Ursus standing in the battlefield, waiting for the woman to send out her pokémon. | [bg=C2B280][atrb=border,0,true][rs=2] | [bg=C2B280][atrb=border,0,true]OOC// Okayzzz~! |

Honestly, Trey read Kenna’s expression correctly. The idea of grabbing his Pokémon and just making a run for it did cross the small teenager’s mind. She decided, however, that wasn’t a very good idea at the moment. She hadn’t any means of escaping at the moment, no bombs or even smoke bombs made up. She was quick, but… no, not right now. This was battle time. Battle. Focus. Ignore the cute. Focus.
Hmph. The boy was a brat, in any case. He deserved to have his Pokémon taken. Didn’t even take the time to shake her hand before the battle. Ah, well; maybe he was a newbie, too? Judging by his Pokemon, it looked like it. It would be a close fight, in any case, if her Turtwig could do anything. And she had lied somewhat; this wasn’t her first fight… just here, in Cheyenne. But Trey didn’t need to know that.
Taking her own position at the other side of the battle field from her opponent, she sent out her Turtwig. The creature still did not have a nickname, nor had it even gotten a proper look at his trainer. It gazed at her, watching her movements and examining her face, carefully memorizing every detail of his trainer. He smiled at her, but only received an empty grin in response. His smile faltered and he turned to face what appeared to be his opponent. He’d make his trainer smile for real.
”Okay, here goes! Turtwig, Withdraw, then Tackle, go!” Pulling its head into its shell, the turtle-like Pokémon threw itself against his opponent.

| [bg=C2B280][atrb=border,0,true]She didn't seem to happy by Trey's straight-to-the-point kinda attitude, but he frankly didn't care much. As he noticed that she grabbed a pokéball and a turtwig came out, he scratched his head. This wasn't going to be easy.
As Turtwig then used withdraw, Trey knew this was going to be tough. He had no Sp. Attacks so he had to attack head on.
The turtwig then commenced a tackle attack. It seemed to be faster than Teddiursa, so dodging would be a bad idea. "Teddiursa, wait until it hits and then, upon impact, use covet on his stomach to send him flying!
As the turtwig hit, the Teddiursa screeched in pain, yet tried to master the pain and suddenly, he swung his arm back, and then forth towards Turtwig's exposed belly. | [bg=C2B280][atrb=border,0,true][rs=2]

The covet did very little to Turtwig, as he was not holding an item nor was his stomach exposed; the tackle had involved him ramming sideways into the Teddiursa, his head protected. There was no need to show his soft underside. The attack struck his shell, and caused some discomfort, but nothing more. He glanced over towards Kenna, hoping that she would be pleased with his successful attack. She showed nothing.
”Keep withdrawing into your shell and back up, get ready for another tackle,” Kenna instructed, planning her strategy carefully. Turtwig was not quick enough to gather enough momentum to tackle his foe effectively at close range. Best get away, then charge. Until then, he’d get pumped up.
Slightly discouraged, yet ever obedient, Turtwig began backing up, eyeing the Teddiursa from within his shelter.

[atrb=background,http://i170.photobucket.com/albums/u247/reesix/vaaa/treybgbg.png] Trey hated himself for making Ursus do a technique that, when he saw it afterwards, would surely fail. He just had to get a clear head about the fight. This woman seemed really strange to him, not using the pokémon's wishes in a fight as well. A pokémon will always use the most strength when he can do an attack he personally believes in.
As Ursus and Trey noticed the Turtwig backing up, Trey noticed that the girl's entire tactic was based on getting distance, building up speed and then striking. Ursus, who was not that injured by the one tackle attack waited for his trainer's orders. "Ursus, stay close to Turtwig, just outside of Turtwig's range. The Ursus nodded and sprinted towards the Turtwig. "Use lick from a small distance Ursus!" he said, and Teddiursa stuck his tongue out, trying to hit his foe. Lick had a chance of paralyzing it's foe. That meant that this entire match would now depend on luck.

”Go for another tackle, but try and avoid that lick attack!” Kenna called out to her Turtwig, who grunted assent from inside his shell. She hadn’t, however, told him to keep withdrawn; he therefore thought it would be okay to poke his head out a little bit while he moved quickly -- relatively -- towards his target. The Teddiursa had kept close, so Turtwig was unable to gain a lot of momentum. Also, the tongue. He was unable to avoid the attack, and before he could even reach Ursus with the tackle he was paralyzed.
Swearing under her breath, Kenna watched as the Turtwig froze on the spot. Paralyzed. That easily? ”Come on, keep moving!” she instructed, but to no avail. The turtle-like Pokémon could hardly budge a single muscle, let along move enough to follow through with the attack.
For an already slow-moving Pokémon like Turtwig, paralysis meant defeat. Kenna sighed, wondering if it was even worth it to continue with such a worthless Pokémon. No, not yet. She’d see if the Turtwig was strong enough to fight past it. Then she would judge.
Turtwig is paralyzed. OH NOES. [/center]

[atrb=background,http://i170.photobucket.com/albums/u247/reesix/vaaa/treybgbg.png] Trey smiled, this could change the entire course of battle. He looked at the Teddiursa and made some kind of sign with his hand, to let the Teddiursa know that he had to make some place now.
Then, Ursus could already guess what Trey would say. His strongest attack so far... The Turtwig was lower in level as the Teddiursa, as well as paralyzed. Ursus then grinned as the Turtwig could barely move, this was his shot. Trey nodded, and with that simple nod, Ursus knew exactly what to do.
His claws started glowing white as he rushed forward, his arms crossed in front of his chest as if he was a veteran assassin.

Completely unable to move, the attack struck the Turtwig fiercely. Without even the mobility to withdraw his head into his shell, the fury swipes lashed out at his unprotected head and neck. Only a cry of pain was evidence of his ability to control his body at all, so strong was the paralysis that currently wracked his small body.
Kenna’s frown deepened. Stupid thing was useless. ”At least try to withdraw, Turtwig. Then tackle if you can.”
He had to prove his worth. Had to. But moving was so hard, and it hurt. Everything hurt. Trying hard to move, the Turtwig was able only to take one step forward before freezing up again. Kenna sighed. This was almost over. The next move would probably end it.

[atrb=background,http://i170.photobucket.com/albums/u247/reesix/vaaa/treybgbg.png] Trey looked at the woman's expression. She obviouly thought way too highly of herself, thinking that that Turtwig was just a tool. With that attitude, one would never win a battle against a real, dedicated trainer and his pokémon.
Staring at the turtwig, Ursus was actually starting to feel sorry for it. <" Good fight, Turtwig! "> The Bear cub pokémon yelled as a sign to Trey to give him an order again.
"Ursus, buddy, finish this with a last Fury Swipes!" Ursus nodded, not to Trey but to the Turtwig, to show once again that he had enjoyed the fight.
With a spartan-like move, the Teddiursa jumped up, swinging his right, shining claw at the turtwig's head.
"It's not about the pokémon..." Trey said with a very cold tone, as he looked at the woman with a serious expression. "It's about the trainer... You were the reason you lost this fight. Not turtwig" He continued before pausing a second to watch the Teddiursa's move again.
"If I ever see you treat a pokémon like that again... I swear you... You'll pay." This was a Trey that noone had ever seen before. The boy seemed to be schizophrenic as one moment, he was a terrified, stuttering teenage boy and the other moment a serious, intimidating man.

Turtwig frowned, able to gain control of his facial muscles. No… it wasn’t Kenna’s fault. It was his. He wasn’t good enough. Kenna was fine. How dare they insult his trainer… no, he’d fight for her honor. Turtwig wouldn’t lose, not yet! He could still prove himself. His strength managed to gather enough for him to withdraw within his shell, leaving the last Fury Swipes to slash uselessly upon his hard body.
Kenna smirked. It wasn’t entirely cold, nor patronizing, but just enough to irk the boy further. ”I haven’t lost yet, have I? And what makes you say I’m the reason for this supposed failure? If I was a poor trainer, would Turtwig listen to me?” Honestly, where did this twerp get off insulting her? She didn’t like Turtwig. She made this obvious, not choosing to hide it. That didn’t mean he could threaten her. Though, honestly, it was amusing seeing his transition. So high and mighty. It was amusing. He would be fun to play with later.
”Turtwig, tackle.”
Still able to move his weary muscles, the turtle attempted to ram into the Teddiursa, happy that Kenna had not given up on him. He didn’t want anyone sympathies. None.
Fury Swipes were ineffective/missed. Used Tackle.

"Ursus, Fury Swipes once more..." He commanded and pointed forward, straight towards the incoming Turtwig.
The Ursus started running, traying to gain as much momentum as the Turtwig while raising his claw up. It started glowing white.
Ursus was planning on striking the second Turtwig's attack also hit, meaning that Turtwig would have an open spot on top of his head. As the two pokémon clashed, one could see Teddiursa getting hit on the upper torso, and a split second after that, swinging his arm towards the Turtwig's head. They called this the Guillotine technique.

Turtwig hit the Teddiursa hard, and unfortunately it was hit with equal strength on behalf of the small bear. With a weak cry, the grass-type collapsed to the ground, motionless.
Kenna returned her Pokemon to its sphere, pleased at least that he managed to be of some use at the end. He was persistent. She’d give the turtle that much. Even so, her desire to keep the creature had not been stirred. And this was a fun enough match. She’d met a new friend. She smiled over at Trey and pulled an ironic curtsy. ”Good match.” Her voice was sincere, as though their argument during the battle had not occurred.

Silva strolled into the trainers lounge, looking around and spotting Kenna. "Hello there." He spoke with a dashing smile. As usual with Silva, it was near impossible to tell if he was male or female. Long hair waved around his face and complimented a creamy skin. A hint of makeup made guessing his gender all the more impossible.
"I received this note after signing up for the shiny stone raffle..." He took it from his bag and showed it to her.
"I'm not a good battler or anything...Rather, I'm not a fan of it at all. I much prefer dancing." He admitted, showing her his treasured mandolin and inverse flute.

Kenna was slightly confused upon the entry of Silva into her Battle Room. Male... female...? The small young woman decided to shift the matter to the side. Sex did not matter, just as her own age was often a mystery. Instead, therefor, she decided to consider the newcomer a male. Just to simplify things in her mind. At the same time, she made a note to not refer to "him" as a specific gender out loud. That would be slightly embarrassing should she have guessed incorrectly.
"Raffle?" the girl asked, head tilted to the side. Another confusing statement; she'd heard of no raffle. If she had, she would have entered it. Glancing at the sheet, she nodded. Ah, fight a battle, win a shiny. She looked at the deadline. Already passed, for entry. She sighed in disappointment, knowing it was too late for her own entry, but signed her approval as "opponent" in the selected slot. She was disappointed, of course, but she would have her own opportunity to get a special Pokemon, and not just by dumb luck in a stupid raffle. Heck, she might even steal this guy's shiny, should he win. She smiled brightly and handed back the paper.
"I'm a pretty new trainer, so we're equals, there, sort of." Didn't like battling, huh? Didn't meet too many people like them, but Kenna could see Silva's point in a strange, diluted way. To each his or her own. "Single battle, then, or double?"

Silva noticed the girl's disappointed look. "Oh...you wanted to sign up?" He asked. "I'm sorry...but how about this, if I win, I'll give you something nice...as a gift from me." He promised her with a sweet smile. "After all, sharing is the best thing in life. Next to singing. And dancing." He laughed quietly and shook his head.
"Oh...hmm..." He considered this a moment." He nodded. "How about a double. I think I've got the perfect strategy!" He claimed, having become a bit more confident in his abilities. Besides, this was a protected area, and the girl seemed to care about pokemon. No pokemon would become endangered.
Silva set down his bag and mandolin, but kept to his flute. He took out two pokeballs and released the pokemon within. ::slowpoke:: & ::buizel:: Slowpoke & Buizel

Brightening up instantly, Kenna looked up at her opponent with shining blue eyes. ”Really? Wow, thanks!” He really was a sweet fellow, to offer her something like that. It was strange to be shown such kindness even before she’d had time to lay on the charm. Though normally she’d find such a person to be a pushover, Kenna was drawn to his friendly demeanor and couldn’t find a way to mentally berate him. Even her greedy persona was unable to find the need to worm more than a little gift out of him. Maybe later. But for now? She’d let his kindness be genuine, sweet, and avoid any sort of manipulation to worm more out of him.
”A double battle sounds like fun. I just got my second Pokemon,” Kenna said, withdrawing her own two competitors. A Surskit and Meowth emerged from the spheres, each looking around and blinking. This was Asteria’s first fight with Kenna; the blue bug-type had just recently been given to her. However, it only knew Bubble. Rio was slightly miffed by her apparent battle-partner’s lack of more moves, but was amused enough by its wide-eyed playfulness that she decided the insect would be a good partner.
Kenna, like her Meowth, realized that she had no strategy. They’d have to wing this, relying mostly on Rio to carry the battle forward. The girl found herself hoping that Silva would continue holding that flute throughout the battle. If he played it, it would make this even more interesting and fun. For once, Kenna wasn’t too concerned about winning or losing. This guy was just intriguing enough to make either outcome worth it.
”Alright, Rio, let’s start it off with a bite to Slowpoke. Asteria, bubble the other!” Hopefully before the other trainer could whip up a proper response, Rio darted forward towards the (hopefully) lazy water type and tried to land a bite to his side. Asteria, meanwhile, was mildly surprised at the quick command, and was delayed slightly before releasing a stream of bubbles towards the other water type.
::meowth:: ::surskit:: Rio used Bite on Slowpoke. Asteria used Bubble on... uh... otter thing whose name I forget? -fail-
