s i e r r a c a t a l y n n Sierra heaved a sigh as she breezed through the entrance doors, quite tired from traveling so far. Instantly upon entering the lounge she was greeted with the sight of battling, laughing and talking trainers. Turning, she walked towards a bench and sat down at it, looking down and sorting through her bag for something to eat.
Finding a box of pocky, she opened the top and placed one in her mouth, closing the box and placing it carefully back in her purse. She adjusted her seating, watching the trainers around there with tired eyes. She was probably the only unpaired trainer there.
Taking a few pokeballs out of her purse, she let out Terra, her Cubone. At the sight of the adorable little dino she smiled. "Hey," She said gently, reaching down and scratching the pokemon's chin. Terra gave a coo of pleasure and scooted closer to Sierra, cuddling next to her as if she were her baby. Sierra smiled down at her, hugging her with one of her arms.

Eleanor took a step into the Trainer's Lounge, having signed her name on the register. Entering the arena, she took a look to see who her opponent would be for this battle. Hmm. She wasn't a familiar face. Then again, a lot of people had attacked the Power Plant, she thought with the slightest twinge of resentment. The only faces she could remember were those of Soren and Nathara, and even they were blurred memories. The girl was hugging and cuddling her Cubone. Eleanor almost wrinkled up her nose. Almost. She was here for a battle. Not to ridicule the pathetic affection most Trainers had for their tools. A Pidgey emerged from her Pokeball with a caw, soaring the circumference of the arena before coming to hover in the air in front of Eleanor, flapping the tips of her wings lazily to stay airborne. "Feel free to make the first move," said Eleanor, since she was the challenger. ::pidgey:: Level 14

s i e r r a c a t a l y n n Sierra calmly continued to pet her Cubone, staring down at the sweet pokemon fondly until her ears picked up the sound of footsteps nearing her. She looked up and was greeted with the sight of her challenger - a woman who seemed to exude coldness.
Sierra stood and took her place on the arena, smiling in a friendly manner towards Eleanor despite that she'd made no introduction or even a greeting. She sent out a Pidgey. A pidgey..? She contemplated the choices of types in her party, which took only a few seconds altogether. Well, she had some rock-types, a ground type, water and grass... a bunch of feathers like that probably wouldn't even make a dent in Keitan, she thought amusedly, removing said Aron's pokeball from her purse.
"Go! Keitan!" She tossed the pokeball up into the air, watching as it opened up and yielded her Aron from a beam of red light. Keitan was surprised to see that he'd finally been chosen for a trainer battle. He was bursting with energy, completely ready for battle.
"Harden, then Tackle!" Sierra commanded, watching her pokemon carefully. The Aron froze in his place for a second, then tightened his muscles so that a shining gleam passed over his momentarily metallic body. His muscles successfully toughened, the solid creature ran forward and pounced at the Pidgey in an attempt to knock himself against her.

An Aron? Hmm. Certainly a wise choice against her Pidgey. The resistance to both Flying and Normal attacks evened out the five level difference. Still, Aeria would simply have to take advantage of a Sand Attack and do what she could to get through its increasingly endurable body and do some damage to it. For all its durability, the little Rock and Steel type was fast too, and before Aeria could even try to wheel aside, the Aron had slammed into her fluffy torso, the blunt force trauma sending her whirling back in a mess of claws and feathers, before retreating a few inches to prevent any more immediate damage. A caw of mixed fury and trepidation escaped the stubborn Pidgey's beak, and Eleanor was pleased to see that her prized flyer, while shaken, had only sustained minor injuries. Minor injuries quickly stacked up into major ones though, and Eleanor had to take advantage of her avian's superior level if she wanted to come out of this battle the victor. "Sand Attack," demanded Eleanor, and the bird zoomed down, kicking up a cloud of dust that had gathered on the arena floor with her thin, sharp talons before zooming back, waiting for her next order. "Quick Attack." Aeria's body turned into a white blur as she zoomed through the arena, wings folded into her body like a fighter jet as she flew towards the Aron, Eleanor hoping that the speed and momentum would help with damage, as well as the sand that had just been kicked towards the Aron's eyes. ::pidgey:: Aeria sued Sand Attack and Quick Attack. s i e r r a c a t a l y n n Keitan reeled back when the sandy cloud stung his eyes, shaking his head in annoyance. He didn't see the Quick Attack coming, but Sierra did. "Keitan-" She cried out, stopping because she knew it was already too late for him to dodge. The bird's toughened body smacked into her Aron's hard, toned one, causing him to stumble back from the strength. The damage would have been devastating had he not been a dual steel and rock type.
Eyes watering from the sand that had blurred them, he looked up at Aeria and prepared for his next attack. Biting her lip, Sierra called out, "Again!" Too bad he lacked any more creative moves. This battle was probably going to be constant slamming between bird and beast.
The Aron's body once again shone silver, his outer shell becoming tough and smooth to further protect his body from the bird's coming attacks. Then, squinting to see through the wall of tears that had formed due to the sand, he ran forward once more and jumped high towards the bird, head first.

Despite the lowered accuracy, Aeria was once again unable to avoid the agile little Aron, and she was sent back a few inches, once again coughing and spluttering as she tried to regain the breath the Aron's small yet powerful bulk had taken from her. The Rock and Steel type was slowly getting more difficult to damage. If this kept up, it would take some time to wear the Aron down, if she could even do it at all before the Aron overcame her Pidgey with its superior defense. "Sand Attack and Gust," she ordered Although Gust was no better than Tackle or Quick Attack, it wasn't physical, and so unaffected by Harden. Eleanor would win the day yet. Aeria repeated her sand kicking motions before following it up with an intense gust of wind, trying to lift the smaller, toughened Pokemon off its feet. ::pidgey:: Aeria used Sand Attack and Gust. s i e r r a c a t a l y n n Keitan dreaded the thought of even more sand entering his vision; thus, when he saw the bird repeating the motions of kicking sand towards him, he sprinted quickly out of the way. He preferred his vision intact; he'd rather get hit with an attack than be inflicted with a status - luckily or unluckily, that was what ended up happening.
The whipped up gust whirled towards the Aron, and he stood his ground, believing that his hardened skin could bear it. However, he was proved wrong; it somewhat hurt more than it would have had it been physical. In addition, the whirling winds were so powerful that they sucked him up into the little tornado's vortex. He suddenly realized he could utilize this wind to get a surprise attack on the pidgey. He looked around for a blurred mass of brown and tan feathers, then burst out of the winds towards it with the intention of tackling. Hopefully he got his target right; his vision was still kind of screwed up.

Upon seeing the Aron sucked into the tornado, Eleanor smiled just a little. It seemed that the change to special based attacks had shaken the girl's strategy, and the Aron was now off its natural strong point; earth. Eleanor was about to give her opponent the opportunity to surrender when an explosion of steel and bright blue eyes surged out of the vortex. Eleanor's lips became thin and pursed as Aeria was once again struck by the makeshift missile. Couldn't the avian dodge anything? Had Eleanor caught the weakest Pidgey of La Premiere Route or something. How disgusting that would be, and how humiliating. So, this Aron was resourceful. Well so was Eleanor. "Feint out and use Sand Attack and then go from behind. Use Gust," whispered Eleanor since the Pidgey had ended up close to her after the assault. With a raptor like shriek of derision at the Aron, she flew in close, claws outstretched as though to Tackle, before instead kicking sand towards the Aron's eyes, before flying round and going in from behind and whipping the winds up into a frenzy. Signs of tiredness were beginning to show in Aeria, but the battle was only just beginning. ::pidgey:: Aeria used Sand Attack and Gust. [/B]

s i e r r a c a t a l y n n Sierra smiled when she saw that her Aron had been resourceful so far. "You're doing great, Kei!" She called.
Keitan felt a surge of happiness when he heard his trainer's call, but kept himself from becoming distracted. He wanted to win this and prove his worth to her. The attack had been successful, but that didn't necessarily mean the battle would be.
He saw the Pidgey swooping in and prepared to dodge a predicted tackle attack, but what he recieved instead was a face full of sand. His eyes shut and sand was spat out of his mouth as his vision crippled even further; now he could barely even open his eyes without irritating pain and a wall of tears. The feathered enemy was a blur now.
Too focused on his impeded sight, he didn't hear the frenzied winds approaching from behind him. Sierra called out, "Keitan, dodge!" But it was too late; the Aron turned to look at Sierra, and at that very instant his lean, hard body was sucked into the vortex of the tornado as if he were a mere pebble. He groaned against the slight pain and inability to see where the hell that pidgey was; this time he had no choice but to wait until the gust dropped him off far away from Aeria.
The aron stood up, shook his head and rubbed at his eye with one of his paws, clearing just a little bit of sand out. "Tackle!" Sierra cried out. He looked up, made out the fuzzy shape of the pidgey, and ran at her. He was frustrated with his inability to see clearly, and he mirrored it in his berserk speed.

This time, Aeria managed to dodge thanks to the accuracy lowering Sand Attacks, fluttering aside to end up to the left of the Aron, looking down on it from her aerial position. No time for Sand Attacks this time. Now that the Aron had missed, Aeria had to exploit that opening, and Sand Attacks would give the smaller Pokemon more time to dodge. "Gust," commanded Eleanor, and her Pidgey once again beat her wings to stir up the winds, trying to lift the Aron off his feet. ::pidgey:: Aeria used Gust. [/B]

s i e r r a c a t a l y n n Keitan landed face-first on the ground when he missed his tackle, jarring his head for just a second. Unfortunately, this was enough time to exploit his vulnerability - the gust came whipping toward him, and once more he was sucked up against his own will. Giving a frustrated roar, he attempted to gain control over the whirling winds - but to no avail.
This time, he gave up trying to aim for a brown and yellow blob altogether; the winds were going too fast, and trying to focus with his burning, irritated eyes would be useless. Thus, hoping luck was on his side, he plunged out of the tornado with his head pointing forward like a charging ram.
Sierra watched this, hoping her Aron would hit his mark.

Once again, the Aron tried the same trick it had just a couple of moments before, and Eleanor would have thought Aeria would have known better and at least attempted to escape, but no. That was beyond her. Struck down once again, this time, she just about managed to stay off the ground, to Eleanor's disdain. "Sand Attack and Gust," ordered Eleanor. She saw no opportunity for taking the Aron by surprise, so a full frontal assault would have to suffice. Besides, signs of wear and tear were starting to show on Aeria's small, plump body, the persistent fledgling bruised and battered from the consistent blunt force trauma. But she wasn't down yet. Aeria, cawing with a tinge of weakness in her voice, flew up to the Aron to kick sand up towards its eyes, before flapping her wings to push herself backwards a little before stirring up the winds yet again, generating a mini hurricane to uproot the Aron if it managed to become caught in its blustering grip. s i e r r a c a t a l y n n Sierra's lips curled in a small smile as she watched the Pidgey's strength steadily whittle down. She'd guessed right in her choice of pokemon, it seemed. However, it was going to take strength to win against this resilient bird.
Keitan, as he felt the feathers collide against him, felt a surge of relief. It was not over yet, however, and the impediment to his vision made this battle even more challenging than it already was. Another wave of sand was launched toward him, but he shut his eyes when he felt it slap against his face again, preventing a little bit from entering. However, it still stung incredibly irritatingly, and now it exhausted him to even try to look out of his eyes. The pidgey was just a blob - a watery, teary blob.
Keitan was now depending more on his hearing, and he could hear a gale of winds rushing towards him once more. Clenching his jaws, he turned and ran quickly out of the way of the strong winds in an attempt to dodge - he just barely crossed a long enough distance away from it.
He looked for a blurred shape of brown and yellow, then charged blindly at her with the intent of ramming his iron-clad head into Aeria's avian body.

From relying on sight to relying on hearing. These creatures were remarkable. Eleanor didn't even blink as the Aron slammed into her avian's body, invoking a strangled caw of pain from her weak, tired voice. Tch. How pathetic. "Quick Attack," demanded Eleanor. It would be slightly weaker due to the Aron's recent hardening of its skin but it would almost certainly hit since the Aron, half blind as it was. Sacrificing speed for damage. Not usually her thing. But as Aeria rushed for the Aron in a rapid blur, Eleanor smiled. Yes. She would make an exception this time. ::pidgey:: Aeria used Quick Attack. [/B]

s i e r r a c a t a l y n n Keitan was glad inside that he was still able to fight his feathered foe despite having little to no ability to see, but his eyes were still burning with sand and grime. He couldn't help himself; he raised a paw to wipe at the layer of sand on one of his eyes, clearing just a little bit off. At the same time, Aeria was getting ready to attack once more.
He looked for the bird, but he was already too late. "Keitan, look out!" Cried Sierra. Keitan heard this and jumped to the right, but it Aeria's small body still bowled into him. His hard shell absorbed most of the hit, but it shook him for a moment. Once he snapped out of it, he quickly dashed forward in an attempt to get a close range hit on the Pidgey. "Good job, Kei!" Sierra cheered on.

Aeria actually hit the ground this time. How frustrating to see such a weakling. Eleanor sniffed at the weakness of her Pokemon. The attacks had mostly hit, yes, but they weren't doing any damage. Eleanor had unfortunately underestimated the importance of type advantage, and it had cost her dearly. "Gust, now," she demanded, and the weakening Pidgey flew as fast as she could to get close to the Aron, before generating a gale again and directing it at the smaller Pokemon. ::pidgey:: Aeria used Gust. s i e r r a c a t a l y n n Keitan jumped back from the successful Tackle and blinked away tears that were forming from the irritation of his sanded eyes, trying to see the bird better. It hurt as if you accidentally got sun tan lotion into your eyes. It hurt as if you poured a whole bottle of bubble soap or squeezed a lemon into them. Annoyed with the constant stinging, the Aron shut his eyes and attempted this turn to use his hearing only.
He lowered his head slightly, angling his ears upward, and attempted to predict Pidgey's next move. However, it was to no avail; Aeria flew incredibly close incredibly fast, and before he could even think of opening his eyes again his metallic little body was swept up into the twirling winds. This time the damage done to his body was critical; he was trapped in the tornado longer than before and he was dumped out of the bottom of the wind on his side. A big, green and purple bruise formed on his gray underbelly.
It took just a little effort to get back on his feet this time, but he was okay for the time. Peering through the cracks of his eyelids just a tad, the Aron attempted to locate the Pidgey. "Tackle again!" Sierra commanded. Keitan obeyed, beating his paws against the ground and running towards where he thought the bird was.

"Quick Attack now and get out of the way, then go in for another hit," demanded Eleanor as she saw the Aron begin to get to its feet once again. Aeria circled round, her body turning into a blur as she went behind. "Now attack," demanded Eleanor, hoping that the Aron's vision was bad enough and that it didn't have such impeccable hearing that it could avoid this Quick Attack If that was the case, she would be in an unavoidably vulnerable position as Aeria went in for a rapid attack at the smaller, physically tougher Pokemon's body, leaving a trail of white in her wake. ::pidgey:: Aeria used Quick Attack.
