This the dark-headed teenager asked himself as he glanced at the trainer lounge, which was completely dark inside but for the rays of sunlight that managed to pierce the areas near windows. It appeared to be vacant now, but when he tried the door he found it unlocked, and had no issues with striding into it. Even if it wasn't intended to be occupied during the blackout - he doubted Pokecenter's wanted to waste supplies on idiots obsessed with battling - he was unconcerned with such rules, merely wanting a place to sit down and well, lounge. That was what it was for, right? You didn't have to come here seeking a battle, and he certainly didn't. His Pokemon were tuckered out, only just conscious, they weren't in the state for a fight. And while he was quite brutal and uncaring toward people at times, his Pokemon meant the world to him, and he didn't plan to cause them harm.
Yawning slightly, as he'd not gotten any sleep the night before, he found a comfortable looking couch and flopped down in it. Sweet Arceus, he could have fallen asleep right then and there if he wanted to. But he wasn't a fan of dozing in public places, he didn't trust people not to strip him of all he had. That is, if they could manage to do so without waking him. Thanks to being paranoid and suspicious of the human nature, he was a light sleeper. The slightest of noise could usually wake him. He was also an insomniac. Sleeping just did not like the teen, and whenever he could grab normal hours, it was a welcome relief. He absolutely refused to medicate the issue, however, instead just 'toughing it out'. Doctors and cures weren't his thing. He could be dying of cancer and he'd opt out of seeing a specialist. Of course the underlying reason was his childish fear of needles, but he'd never admit that.
Joshua debated on releasing his cats from their spherical prisons, but decided against doing so, instead letting out another yawn and resting his arm on the side of the couch. They needed their rest, and he obviously needed his. But he would probably stay up for hours yet. He scarcely listened to what his body was telling him.

Ah. The Trainer's Lounge. After a while, this place was starting to feel like a home away from home. After all, there was a Pokemon Center right inside of here, where anyone could heal their Pokemon. However, the pitch black made it seem nonexistent. And the only functioning Pokemon Centers were the ones in the big cities, not a small, yet overpopulated city like Verona. There was shit going on at the Power Plant, but he was getting sick of it all. Fight this person, protect that Pokemon, and no, we can't tell you why. You know why you die. He snorted at the logic of it all, as he sipped at his iced coffee. It was all they could really manage in a short amount of time with this power out, but it was good. He walked in the trainer's lounge quite silently, sipping away at his drink that had a bitter taste. "Ah. So this place isn't dead" He remarked, nodding towards Joshua in the practically deserted place. Nah, he wasn't all that shy, but nothing was wrong in a simple greeting. Except, he had to give the guy another look. He battled him before here, right? And wasn't he also in the TD recruitment room? Great. All he needed was more TD breathing down his backside.

However, currently uninterested in whomever it was, he did not spare them so much as a glance, instead examining the veins on the back of his clenched fist. He'd always been oddly fascinated with hands. Not like a fetish, merely something that he was always drawn to. If someone had incredibly small and delicate hands, he'd pick up on that. It was a strange quirk, alright. He slowly unclenched his hand, watching things shift, then blinked and relaxed it when he heard someone speak. The voice was... almost familiar? Not someone he knew well, he was good with recognizing voices. But perhaps someone he'd encountered at least once before.
Deciding to grace them with at least momentary attention, he turned his head, lazily blinking steel-colored eyes in their direction. Hmm, yeah. He'd fought this guy in the lounge once before, Eris against the guy's Geodude. Had he said his name? He probably had... Joshua was well aware that he had not given his own - neither had Syl, he'd only learned the older male's name after being recruited by Team Death. Ah! This guy had been in the room during the debriefing, had he not? Something with an S... Joshua thought about it for a moment, then vaguely remembered the boy introducing himself as 'Shamu'. Like the whale, maybe? Pretty good for being exhausted. Joshua complimented himself on his memory.
"Wouldn'tve came in if it wasn't empty," he said indifferently, giving a little bit of a shrug. "Can't really be arsed to fight anyone... not like I could anyways, with my team wiped out..." Another yawn. Caffeine would have been nice, but the only stuff he had was in his fridge at home, and that seemed miles away, even though he was temporarily residing in Verona until he chose where he wanted to take up residence. He wasn't too fond of this city and it's overpopulated aura, but it was a good place to stay when you were still getting the hang of things, he supposed. "What about you?" he wondered. "Shamu... right? What're you doing here?"

"Wouldn'tve came in if it wasn't empty,"Ah? Was he being a disturbance at such a comment? He took it as a subtle message to leave the guy alone, and with a shrug started to head to the nearest table. Nothing wrong with not wanting a conversation, he supposed as he took a silent sip of his drink. He would've thought more of it if Joshua hadn't kept talking. "Can't really be arsed to fight anyone... not like I could anyways, with my team wiped out..."He turned around in surprise, before relaxing just a bit. He wasn't all that in a fighting mood either. Not with things like this. "I hear ya. Too many trainers are running around battling like idiots...and nothing to heal them too." He commented, rolling his eyes. Yeah, yeah. So there was a crisis going on. So what. Didn't mean that kids had to go around risking their Pokemon's health. "Got the name right." He blinked, surprised. Susumu never heard his name though, which was odd, and slightly creepy. "Never did get yours though." He hinted, though not knowing his name wasn't that big of a deal. Well, it only would've made the conversation a little more difficult. "I can't even think straight in the city. Too many people are freaking out." He sighed. Then again, in a place called Electric City, the people living there would obviously panic when they didn't have electricity.

In fact, if anything, Joshua was feeling slightly more social than usual. Anything to keep himself awake, really. "I assure you, I wasn't telling you to get lost, or anything." His voice was quite, yet deliberate. Though his tone was quiet, it had a hard edge that suggested he wasn't shy, just not a fan of shouting, or perhaps possessing a current headache. In fact, there was a throbbing present in his skull, perhaps a result of the few drinks he'd had the night before. Or maybe it was just a headache. Who knew, really?
Joshua gave a single nod in agreement to the boy's words. "Wouldn't have put my own Pokemon through it if not for orders," he said, though there was no bitterness in his tone. He wasn't complaining that he'd been asked to risk the health of his Pokemon. He'd agreed to joining, after all. He was merely stating a fact. "Few of the bastards ganged up on me the first time," he mused, and actually managed a harsh laugh. "They tell us to fight dirty, and it's the other side that pulls tricks."
He smirked slightly. "That's 'cause I didn't give it. Nothing wrong with telling you now, though." He paused for a moment, shrugging. "Name's Josh. Not nearly as interesting as 'Shamu' - where'd that come from, by the way? - but it's what I'm stuck with." He was feeling a little more chatty than usual. Maybe it was the fatigue getting to his brain. He still wasn't much different, not an open book, slightly suspicious, the whole package. "Île Électrique?" he questioned, to clarify. "Or this one?" After a moment's pause, he added, "It is quite hard to focus with everyone going mental. I suppose it's easier for us considering we know what happened." He shrugged again. Josh shrugged a lot, perhaps suggesting an indifference or uncaring attitude.

"You're kidding?" He commented with a scoff. Trainers were fighting dirty against the Team Death recruits now? Damn. He was going to have to watch out for that, because his team was far from being well trained. The strongest ones he had was a dead, uncontrollable zombie and his stolen Vulpix. "Oh, that little nickname? Some of my old friends back at home couldn't pronounce my name if their life depended on it. It just happened. Snap. Like the whale." He chuckled, deciding maybe he should sit slightly closer to Joshua instead of being across the room. He found a chair that was right across from the guy, sitting down and getting comfortable. "Yeah. Île Électrique. They're all freaking out pretty bad. Just can't stand it." He sighed, rubbing his forehead while his other hand clutched his ice cold coffee. He accepted Joshua's other comment with a nod of his head, even if they hadn't been told everything from the start. "Hard to imagine that they gave us all of this power. I'm not sure...why though." His eyes were clouded, as if thinking deeply about the subject. But bawww, he was only tired. Exhausted. Standing around guarding that old building made his eyes sore.

"Wish I was," he said, clasping his hands in his lap and leaning forward slightly, trying to concentrate on the conversation as opposed to how tired he felt at the current moment. "Ganged up on me and sent out a shitload of Pokemon. I've only got three of my own." He gave a bitter laugh. "I had some help from one of our guys... uh, Dougie I think's his name," he mused. "But of course, they have the advantage of Pokemon Centers, and in the end..." He shrugged. "Not that I'm making excuses. A loss is a loss. A failure. Just expressing how much it sucks." And it really did suck, losing. He hated it. Nothing like a good ol' blow to your self esteem via failure.
A rare grin expressed his amusement toward the nickname story. "You don't hear that every day," he chuckled. "Only nickname I've ever gotten besides 'Josh' was given to me by my sister." He snorted slightly. "Of course, she's a kid, so I'd rather not repeat that one aloud." Nothing said 'masculine' than admitting you let your kid sister nickname you, right? Not that he really let her... she'd use it whether or not he expressed his distaste of the name.
Shamu seemed almost... doubtful? Joshua wondered where this stemmed from. Of course, he'd heard rumors, but he wasn't about to go making judgments yet. He wasn't very judgmental, despite what one might think, of allies. He figured that, if nothing else, neutrality was key. Disloyalty and disrespect from within could break apart a group... or at the very least get you kicked out of it. "In all fairness, it is pretty bad. My team are completely wiped out, but... they have the better end of the bargain. They can still use the Pokecenter, provided they haven't been reckless idiots." He gave an irritated scowl. He just wanted his team to be alright again.

"Dougie? Heh. I actually knew him before this whole mess. Even funnier, I saw Syl too. All at that Halloween Party in the pub." He commented upon recognizing the name. For a second, it made him wonder why so many familiar faces were at that party. He didn't think there was a bigger motive to the entire thing, but it was there that he first heard of Team Death. "Shit though. If they're playing that rough, I don't even know if I'll stand a chance. I haven't gotten the chance to train that much, working my ass off at the cafe." He grunted, shaking his head sadly. Now that he was somewhat in TD, quitting that damn job sounded like a good idea. At least for a while. "Heh, you have a sister? Lucky." Susumu almost sighed wistfully, but held it in. like a man. He took another sip of his drink, as if the make up for his temporary silence as he listened to the rest of what Joshua was saying. Things really weren't fair for them, were they? Sucked. How were the Pokemon Center supposed to know who they were anyways? "Come to think of it. I haven't tried to sneak in the center yet. With all of the darkness, I probably wouldn't get recognized either." He thought out loud, wondering whether he could try it or not. Hell, injured Pokemon were injured Pokemon. Why should they care about his appearance or origin? ooc: lawl if they did try to sneak in, they would totally get busted. >.>

"I went to some party then..." He was about to mention that he'd run into Blaze then, but remembered the conversation they'd had before Joshua had sold his Torkoal. "Halloween never happened." Well, he'd agreed to that, and he didn't want to make any hardcore enemies within Team Death, so that little secret was safe with him. He only had to hope that Sierra didn't go spreading it around, as that would certainly be embarrassing. "It was very generic. Got drunk then went home and crashed, woke up with a hangover. Fun, fun." That part was true, at least. He had crashed after he'd gone home, and his head had felt as if it were splitting when he'd woke up.
Making a slight face, he nodded in agreement. "My team is of a decent level, but it isn't very large. I made the mistake of putting most of my Pokémon in the PC before I went to the Plant." He was never going to do something like that without thinking about it first. Joshua tended to be rather reckless, acting upon impulse most of the time, and it had cost him. "But no matter how high your levels, large groups of the whiny little bastards can take you out. Cheating little fucks..." Not that he wouldn't have cheated himself, given the chance. Oh, hell, of course he would have. The moment he'd been told the normal rules no longer bound them, he'd already been cheating, in his mind. But they'd overwhelmed him.
He gave a slight snort. "I've got two. One's alright, the other one's a fucking demon." He didn't say why. For all Shamu knew, it could be your typical love/hate sibling rivalry, like average families. He didn't have to know that the two absolutely and genuinely hated one another. Or at least, Mel hated him. It wasn't entirely mutual. "I'm guessing you don't, then?" It was usually the only-child type that envied those with siblings, and vice versa.
He nodded slightly. This was true. "I haven't tried... not sure if I'd want to risk my neck getting caught, though..." He could just hear the others now, breathing down his neck about being an idiot... yeah, he wasn't sure whether that was such a great idea. "Ain't fair, really. Not like my Pokémon are any less important than theirs."

Susumu snickered, so he wasn't the only one with a hang over that night. He figured that it was his first big one, so he suffered the most by default that night. Fun times for him too, wasn't it? Then again, he did get their boss dancing to Toxic drunkenly on video and posted that on Youtube. That was sure the best part of the entire night. Susumu didn't even bother asking about the 'then' part, figuring that Joshua had only worded his sentence wrong. He figured as much, seeing that English was a bitch anyways. Still a bit surprised that the 'good trainers' were ganging up on them like this, Susumu mulled the idea over a bit. There had to be a way to counter this, right? His bomb threats only worked for so long, after all. Two Pokemon he encountered had used Damp on him. That was the shittiest luck ever. "For now, I say we just pretend we have guns at this point. I bet it would scare the annoying little ones off." He joked, recalling how some muggers would only put their fingers in their sweatshirt pockets to make it look like they were holding a gun. At the sibling comment though, he had to nod. No point lying here. "Yeah. My parents suck. Maybe having a brother or a sister would've made them easier to deal with." He could only really shrug now, since there was no point making a sob story out of nothing. "Two though? That sounds like too much." He made a face, unable to imagine his own house having that many people living in it. It would've been insanely crowded. "I think I'll try later. But maybe after this blows over, we'll have a better shot at being accepted." Susumu pondered over the idea of never being allowed in the Pokemon Centers. Now that would suck. Like, hardcore sucking.
