Tyro stepped inside the Trainer Lounge. He knew that this was the place to train. If he wanted to get stronger for that Gym Leader, he would need to train here as well as on the Route to the Gym. He wanted to get around to this before, but he had been a bit too preoccupied. So, he finally ended up renting out a battle room for the day...and he waited for an opponent to show up. Lan was already out of his Pokéball and waiting for whoever it was that happened to walk into the door first. Hopefully it wouldn't be too difficult to find somebody around his level.

Blitz walked into a random pokemon trainer room and it just happened to have Tyro in it also. He looked at the Charmander next to Tyro, it did not look too strong so he was interested in testing it out. Maybe it was because he was a cruel person, or because he had no heart, or because he was a jerk... Who knows why he did this, but Blitz decided to counteract a Charmander with a Caterpie although bugs are weak against fire types. Deep down he kind of wish Lance would kill Caterpie, but he also wanted to test the trainer and see if this kid had what it took to take on a weak Caterpie, especially since this kid a type advantage. He threw the caterpie down and looked at Tyro. <"Your move first. If you can even make one..."> He said to Tyro, what a jerk Blitz had become... ::Caterpie:: Lets you go first Caterpie (6), Spheal (5)

Tyro continued to wait for another trainer to show up in his rented battle room. When another boy showed up, he was about to strike up a conversation. However, this guy just decided to drop the Caterpie onto the ground and suddenly declare that he had the first turn. "Not much of a talker, are you?" Tyro said, crossing his arms a bit. But, he didn't push the matter very far. If this guy didn't really want to talk all that much, he figured that he wouldn't be very interested in what he had to say. "Alright, you want Lan here to take the first turn?" He looked down at Lan. Sure, it was true that he was a Fire-type Pokémon, but he lacked a Fire-type move, so it didn't really matter very much. Oh well. He shrugged it off and finished, "Alright then."Lan took his place a couple feet in front of the Caterpie. < Nice to meet you.> Lan said with a slight smirk. <Don't expect me to take it easy on you just because you're a Caterpie.> With that, he went ahead and took the first turn. He widened his stance to make a more intimidating appearance, and then let out a Growl attack as menacing and ferocious as he could make it. Afterward, he ran at the Caterpillar Pokémon and tried to chomp down on him with a Crunch attack, being careful not to swallow the smaller Bug whole. Used Growl and Crunch on Caterpie!

Caterpie heard the growl coming from the menacing Charmander and began to run away, scared at the intimidating pokemon. But then, it suddenly widened it's mouth and attempted to chomp down on Caterpie. This terrified Caterpie so he quickly did as any bug would do in this situation... He made a web the size of Charmander's mouth and shot it at the fire type in an attempt to enclose his mouth and prevent him from using the menacing growl or crunch again. It was the best thing Caterpie could do in this situation... He was terrified of the Charmander and did not want to be caught in a bad situation... Caterpie had avoided his first attack and continued to run, hiding behind Blitz who simply nudged him forward with his leg. <"Don't embarrassing yourself... And me."> Blitz said, which made Caterpie tear up in his eye a little as "big brother" was tormenting him... But Blitz was not affected by the bug's big droopy eyes. He just looked dead at the caterpillar without an expression at all. Deep down, he was a little happy that Caterpie reacted so quickly to the attack. But he was also disappointed as it meant that Caterpie would have to be worthless for one more turn. ::Caterpie:: (-1 attack) Hit by Growl. Dodged Crunch. Used Stringshot on mouth of Charmander.

As Lan lunged forward and tried to chomp down on top of the Caterpie, he was suddenly caught off-guard as a ton of web came off of his head and wrapped around his mouth. Surprised, Lan stumbled slightly. He tried to fight his mouth open, but it was just too clamped shut. He struggled to pull it apart, trying to break open the string. He decided that it would be much faster to just lift his claws and Scratch it apart. Sure, it would take a bit of his time and he wouldn't be able to get out a real attack this turn, but it was the only way to get himself free of this sticky webbing. Lan brought his claws up and slashed them across the web, breaking it apart so that his mouth was free once more. <Ow...> he grumbled, grabbing his mouth in pain. <I think I bit my tongue because of that...> he shook it off, however, and tried to get his next move in. He tried to Growl once again at the Caterpie, hoping to lower the Bug-type's attack strength even more. Sure, he was scaring the little guy, but how else could he learn to overcome his fears but to face them head-on? While fighting for Tyro's sake, he was still trying to teach this Caterpie to "man up" a little bit and help him to grow the non-existant backbone. ::Charmander:: Scratched the String Shot off of his mouth Used Growl on Caterpie

Caterpie was very exuberant to see that his plan had worked and that the mouth of Lan was webbed with the string shot, he thought this would buy him at least a few rounds until the web finally melted... That didn't go according to plan though, he had underestimated Lan and when the Charmander opened up his claws to scratch the string out, Caterpie went back to cowering in fear. "Please don't hurt me! Please!" He said before Lan gave him another loud growl which terrified him some more. His first instinct was to go behind Blitz again, but after the last time... He feared Blitz wasn't going to nudge this time, he was going to kick... So Caterpie, with tears in his eyes, stood up against the terrifying Charmander and decided it was time to be serious and take action. He quickly began to run at the Charmander, albeit very slowly because he is a caterpillar... And he decided to shoot a web of string at the foot of the Charmander. If the attack hit, it was meant to pull the Charmander to the ground so Caterpie could smack him right in the head with a tackle... If the attack failed, Caterpie was still going to go with a tackle, but to the stomach as he could not reach that high if the Charmander did not fall... Blitz was beginning to have more respect for the Caterpie, it actually wasn't as pathetic as he originally imagined it to be... It was actually putting up a fight here, not doing great, but still putting up a fight nonetheless. That must count for something... ::Caterpie:: (-2 attack) Hit by Growl. Used String Shot on legs of Charmander and Tackle.

Lan watched the Caterpie's reaction to his move carefully. Upon seeing that the Caterpie was starting to learn to fight with at least a bit more confidence, he couldn't help but smile a bit. He hardly knew the guy, but he felt a strange sense of pride when he saw that the smaller Bug-type was starting to stand up for himself without cowering...quite as much. <D-don't worry...> Lan said, taken aback by the Bug-type's exclamations about his fears. <If I hurt you, it won't be anything too bad.... I won't try to eat you or- HEY!> He had been interrupted by the Caterpie's String Shot. He jumped in place to avoid the sticky substance, then looked down at his feet. That webbing had almost forced him to be stuck at the Caterpie's mercy for at least a single attack. But while he was busy looking at the web, he wasn't keeping an eye on the creeping Caterpie. The next thing he knew, he felt the Caterpie Tackle him hard in the stomach. He had been completely off-guard when the attack had come, and he was knocked flat on his back at the Caterpie's feet. He felt a bit winded from the Tackle to his stomach, and grabbed at his stomach. There hadn't been much power behind the attack, but this was still the Charmander's first battle, so he had yet to earn any kind of experience. He did, however, manage to muster a Growl of annoyance up at the Caterpie. Dodged String Shot. Hit by Tackle! Winded Used Growl on Caterpie!

Being the third growl on Caterpie, he took this one and wasn't cowering as much as before. Although he couldn't help the little bit of cower he still had as the pokemon was bigger, stronger, and tougher than him. But Caterpie was not going to give in yet... He was going to fight this out and win this battle eventually. He decided to go back to plan A and shot a string of web again at the Charmander, aiming for the mouth that had just growled... With that taken care of, he decided to crawl again towards the fire lizard and attempted to tackle him by the legs to trip him and make the pokemon fall on his back. His attacks had not done much seeing how he was growled at three times, but he hoped the impact of the ground would be sufficient in weakening the Charmander. It was worth a try... At least. Blitz was impressed with Caterpie's abilities right here... It wasn't as pathetic as he initially gave it credit for. It was actually putting up a semi decent fight, nothing too impressive but semi decent. He was interested to see what else the Caterpie could do. Hopefully it could impress him some more while it was at it... ::Caterpie:: (-3 attack) Hit by Growl. Used String Shot (on Charmander's mouth) and Tackle (on his feet).

Lan felt the String Shot tie up his mouth yet again, and he let out a loud <MPH...!!> of annoyance as his jaws were clamped shut...again. He was glad that the Caterpie was starting to get the hang of fighting as well...but he was also starting to find himself getting tied up by this constant rain of String Shots to be really annoying. If this continued, he wouldn't be able to even fight back! He'd be forced to continue to try to pry the string off constantly, which would, in turn, leave him wide open to an attack from the Bug-type. What was he going to do to get out of this? If he lost to a Caterpie...well, that would just be the most humiliating thing that could ever possibly happen to him! It's too bad he couldn't use Ember just yet. That would definitely come in handy at this point. But since that wasn't the case, he had to work his magic with his claws again. But before he could do that, he felt the Caterpie strike out at his legs with another Tackle attack. <MGH!> The muffled groan of pain came from the Charmander's tied up head as the attack was successful. The attack sent him falling over backwards. His back collided hard with the ground, causing him to lose the wind in his lungs and just kind of lay helpless before the Caterpie. Boy, was THIS a humiliating for a Charmander. He lifted his tail and tries to put it close enough to the sticky string and tried to melt it off with the flame on his tail. ::Charmander:: Hit by String Shot and Tackle! Knocked onto his back, unable to react. Tries to use his tail to melt the web around his mouth

Caterpie began to jump up and down as he was doing great against the Charmander. But he quickly stopped when he looked back at the blank expression in Blitz's face. He was neither impressed or amused. This caused Caterpie to get motivated some more and continue on with what he was doing so far... He saw the Charmander on his back, preoccupied with melting the web around his mouth and decided it was a perfect opportunity to tie this pokemon up. He used his string shot on the arms and legs of the Charmander on his back, since they were all around the same vicinity... With this, he tried to tie up the pokemon like how people do to boars... And once he had tried this, he then aimed his head at the side of the Charmander to tackle him on what he perceived to be a weak spot. It would give him a better chance against this pokemon, especially with his attack at an all time low right now due to the three Growls that he had sustained. It was the best Caterpie could do, the best he could work with... He just hoped, and prayed for the best... This was his third ever fight, and the first one where he actually had an advantage at any point of the fight. The other two were slaughters, he was actually doing pretty well here. "Hey if I keep this up, I might not have to go back to the pokeball ever again?" Caterpie said before he aimed his head at the rib of the Charmander. ::Caterpie:: (-3 attack) Hit by nothing. Used String Shot to tie Charmander up. Used Tackle on Charmander's ribs.

As the Charmander continued to attempt to melt the webbign around his mouth with the flame on his tail, he suddenly felt something begin to wrap around his legs and arms. He tried to lift his head and look behind him...and saw the Caterpie was already jumping on the chance to tie him up in this vulnerable position. Uh-oh. That wasn't good. He struggled against the Caterpie's webs, but, in the end, the webbing was completed and he was laying helplessly on the ground in front of the Caterpie. His arms and legs were hog-tied behind him, and he couldn't budge them an inch. Great. Now he'd have to melt that string too. But before he even got the chance, the smaller Bug-type came charging at him from the side. If it weren't for the sticky webbing still clamping his mouth shut, he would have let out a yelp of pain as the Pokémon rammed hard into his ribs, dealing a bit more damage than before. He struggled against his bindings, trying to pull free, and tried to bring his tail-flame around and put it right on top of the string, trying to weaken it. And luckily, it worked! He managed to weaken the String Shot enough so that he was able to pull free and he tried to get back to his feet. His mouth was still clamped shut, but he could still attack. Rather than try to hit his opponent with the Scratch attack he had considered, he decided to go with something else. He swung his tail around and tried to slam his fire-tipped tail into the smaller Caterpillar Pokémon. That had done it. Being humiliatingly hog-tied by this Caterpie put Lan in a bad enough mood that he wasn't feeling sorry for him anymore and stopped even considering taking things easy on him. ::Charmander:: Hog-tied by String Shot! When Caterpie landed a critical tackle on Lan he started to get very confident and very excited about the progression he was making so far. But soon Lan broke out of the string shot and he swung his tail at Caterpie which scared the bug a lot... The fire touched Caterpie and did not do too much damage, but it did heat up the pokemon and almost caused him to cry. Caterpie was extremely scared now, as he knew how bugs would be once hit by fire and he didn't want that to happen again... So instead of attacking this round, he held his ground and became very aware of Lan's movements. He was worried to get too close as that tail was not a pleasant thing to feel... He did not want to experience that again and thus he held his ground in an attempt to dodge or run away from the lizard. He didn't want to charge head on and face the consequences later... ::Caterpie:: (-3 attack) Hit by tail. Scared him to use nothing this round

Lan quickly realized that the Caterpie wasn't going to be doing anything this time around. That was perfect because it would give him time to deal with this darn webbing tying his mouth completely shut. Without that mouth, he couldn't get out any menacing growls or chomp down onto the small worm. So, he lifted up one of his claws and tried to slash it down across the webbing. When he managed to slice through it, he slackened his jaw a bit and tried to get used to it again. After opening it and closing it a couple of times, he grumbled, <Grr.... Now my jaw's gonna be sore all day long...>Meanwhile, Tyro had been trying everything he could to keep from chuckling at his Pokémon's position. Sure, it had meant that he was in a bad spot in a battle with a Caterpie, but the look on Lan's face after getting tied up like that, and just plain how he looked struck him as very funny. But, it was time to get serious again, now that Lan was completely free. "Alright, Lan, let's get back into the game, alright?" he called out to him. Lan simply nodded without taking his eyes off of the Caterpie. Oh, was he going to get it now. But, he had spent a long enough time getting back up and clawing at his bindings to really even start to attack. So instead, he just tried to let out another low Growl of irritation. This Bug was going to get it now.... ::Charmander:: Used Scratch to free his jaw Used Growl on Caterpie! [SPD: -3]

The three growls did a number, but nothing compared to this forth growl. It severely weakened Caterpie's attack as it terrified the living baheebie jeebies out of Caterpie. He was in no way prepared for this one... He had not thought that Charmander would be able to pull the web out of his jaw a second time and when the growl came, he did not expect it at all and he simply fell to the ground and started to coddle himself in a fetal position. Caterpie looked incredibly pathetic right there, coddled in the ground in a fetal position. It only caused Sam to sigh as he saw his pathetic pokemon on the floor, and he began to regret using Caterpie all over again. Caterpie was so scared that he again could not muster any attacks... He just lied on the ground in a fetal position, hoping the scary lizard would just leave him alone. ::Caterpie:: (-4 attack) Hit by Growl. Terrified!

Lan looked down at the pathetic-looking Bug Pokémon, already starting to feel sorry for him again. But he shook his head to clear it of those kinds of thoughts. This was a fight! If he felt sorry for his opponent and started taking it easy, then he might take advantage of it and start fighting back even harder. The last thing Lan wanted to do was get caught up in another humiliating situation like before. But, he couldn't just simply attack the poor Pokémon while he wasn't even fighting back. So, he decided to find some ground in the middle. <Look.> he growled, more annoyed now than ever. <If you're just going to keep backing off, terrified of me, then you may as well not even be fighting me at all. You're just in for a world of hurt.> He scowled a bit as he said this. <I want to fight you, but you need to fight back. I won't beat on an opponent so pathetic that they let their fears get the better of them and try to run away or cry about it.> he growled again. He wanted to get it through the Caterpie's head that hiding or showing his fear in this manner was only angering him further, and making it more likely that his attacks might do something unintended and perhaps going a bit far for a simple training battle. <Get up and fight me like a man.> he grumbled, crossing his arms. He refused to attack until the Caterpie got the message. Or, if he still didn't get the message, he'd attack anyway, just to show what he meant. ::Charmander:: Crosses his arms and tries to convince Caterpie to fight

Although Lan had hoped to influence Caterpie to fight on with his words... It had only scared him more and made even sadder. "I'm not a man. I'm just a scaredy cat, can't you see that?" Caterpie said as his eyes began to get watery. "Why are you picking on me? Why are you scaring me so much? I just wanted to have fun!" Caterpie said again, still crying... What really influenced Caterpie was the what Blitz had to say to him next. <"Hey Caterpie, you win this battle... You will never be in a pokeball again."> Caterpie was a big scaredy cat, and number one in his list was being enclosed in a pokeball... Hearing that he would no longer have to deal with that influenced the little bug to fight on. "Alright! I will do it for not being in a pokeball ever again!" Caterpie said as he charged the Charmander and shot web in it's direction... After the web went to the Charmander, whether it hit or not, Caterpie jumped in the air and aimed his head at the knees of Charmander in an attempt to cause him to trip and fall flat on his face again. Caterpie's attacks had weakened drastically due to the growls, but he was good in that he had full health while the Charmander had been weakened, probably only slightly but still weakened. Caterpie had the advantage there. ::Caterpie:: Used String Shot and Tackle on Charmander

Lan rolled his eyes at the Caterpie's response. Would nothing get through to this guy? He didn't care how much of a scaredy-cat he was. However, the Charmander almost fell over when he heard the quick exchange between Bug and Trainer. That was it!? THAT was what was going to get the Bug-type interested in facing his fears and fighting back? This all just had to be one big joke. That was the only way he could explain the situation to himself and have it make any logical sense to him. Well, joke or not, he had to get serious, as the Caterpie was on the attack again. Lan saw the String Shot coming, but wasn't able to get out of the way again. The sticky string clung to his body, slowing him down yet again. And due to his sluggish movements, he was also unable to pull himself away from the incoming Tackle attack the Caterpie aimed at his legs. He was rammed and fell downwards towards the ground. This time, however, he managed to catch himself with his arms instead of falling completely. Thanks to this, he was able to jump back to his feet rather quickly, letting out a fifth Growl of annoyance. He wasn't taking much damage from the constant Tackle attacks, but he was going to make sure he didn't take much more. These attacks were more annoying than painful by now. After his Growl, he charged at the Caterpie and tried to dive down at him and chomp down on him as he had tried to do since the beginning of the battle. He tried to Crunch the little Bug Pokémon and inflict some good damage for a change, rather than just bluntly taking all the hits. ::Charmander:: Hit by String Shot! Hit by Tackle! Whatever bravery the Caterpie quickly got taken off when the Charmander opened his mouth and chomped down on the back of the caterpillar. He was growled at again but this did not scare him as much because he never wished to be enclosed in a pokeball again... The sharp teeth and bite though, did terrify him as he just wished to give up there and lie for deed. But the problem was, lying there meant going back to an enclosed pokeball and he just couldn't have that. Caterpie suddenly got back up after the attack, obviously hurt a lot more than before and he shot another string shot at the mouth of the Charmander as he attempted to tackle the lizard in the stomach again. It was the best he could do as Charmander seemed to have more strength in his mouth than he did in his arms... Taking out the arms was Caterpie's best strategy. ::Caterpie:: (Weak) (-5 attack) Hit by Growl and Crunch. Used String Shot (on mouth) and Tackle (on stomach).

Lan smirked slightly as he felt his miniature teeth sink into the Bug Pokémon's back and was firmly planted there. But it didn't take long for the Caterpie to worm his way free from his grip and get ready for a counterattack. At this point, Lan had come to expect the String Shot to tie him up again. And sure enough, that was exactly what happened. The Caterpie's String Shot attack was successful as it bound his jaw shut for the third time. Now he was REALLY annoyed. To top it off, he bit down on his own tongue again as a result, causing him to tear up slightly. But he quickly shook it off and got himself ready for what was to come. Unfortunately, he was still much too slow to even hope to get out of the way of the Caterpie--even as slow as he was--and he felt the Caterpillar Pokémon ram his head into his stomach yet again. This caused the Charmander to double over in pain, sinking to his knees and clutching his stomach with both arms. That blow had caused him to lose the wind in his lungs and he kneeled there, trying to get it all back. But while he did so, he refused to leave himself open to another attack from the Caterpie. He wasn't going to get hog-tied again so soon. He coudln't use his jaws, but he was still able to lift one of his arms and attempt to claw at the Worm Pokémon with Scratch. ::Charmander:: Hit by String Shot and Tackle! Winded by the Tackle! Caterpie was happy to see his tactic had worked, but then the claws of Charmander came right after him and scratched him up. This was unpleasant and very painful. He began to tear up a bit as he was scratched in the face but he was in no position to give up just yet... Blitz was surprised with the progress his Caterpie had made today, it wasn't so pathetic... He even sort of liked it a bit. It just needed stronger moves. Caterpie then sized up his web and shot it at Charmander's arm in an attempt to take away the mouth and the arm to leave the pokemon unable to use any move. It was the best Caterpie could think of right now as he charged the Charmander again and tried to hit him in his knees and knock him to the ground. He envisioned being a butterfly one day, where he would not be as worthless as he is right now. Caterpie felt so pathetic right now... And he almost started tearing up when he recollected how pathetic he is. ::Caterpie:: (Almost Very Weak) Hit by Scratch. Used String Shot (on Charmander's hand) and Tackle (on Charmander's knees)
