Full Name: Randall Aubert Gotama
Gender: Male
Age: 24, born July 19
Appearance: Randall is a perfectly even six feet in height, and weighs about 160 pounds. He's muscular, but doesn't have the bulky, body-building type of muscle that some men have. His hair is dark brown and cut short, while his eyes are grey. The thing you first notice about him, though, if you were to meet him on the street, is that he is always wearing his white karate outfit and black belt. Also, he is almost always barefoot. The bottoms of his feet have thick calluses from walking without shoes. He only ever wears things on his feet when going into a very formal setting or when it's extremely cold. His backpack only holds those things Randall believes to be essential. These include water, snacks, pokeballs, and other pokemon-related items.
Background: Randall Gotama was born to a newly-wed couple who lived in his father's dojo. They had married in a hurry, his father infatuated by the woman's beauty and his mother charmed by the man's eccentricity. The marriage was short lived, obviously, and the two broke up just after Randall was born. His father was left with an infant that he had no idea how to take care of, but he did his best and Randall was successfully raised by the single parent.
As soon as he was able to walk, Randalll began to be trained in various fighting styles by his father. He practiced for as long as his body would allow each day. At first, he only did it to please his father, but slowly Randall developed a burning passion for martial arts. By the time he had reached the age of seven, he was already learned in several fighting styles. Unfortunately, due to his strong focus on training, he spent little time studying. His grades were always low, but his father didn't care one bit. The two of them were monsters for training, spending every free moment beating the stuffing out of a punching bag or accumulating bruises in spars against each-other. Since he spent most of his early life in the presence of his father, he never learned to express the softer emotions like affection or understanding. Despite his father's negligence in teaching those things, he shared many life lessons with his son.
First, honor is the most important thing. Guard your honor and the honor of others with your life. Second, strength should be gained for strength's sake, not to use it against others in petty fights. You were only to battle others physically if someone's life or honor was on the line. (This, of course, excluded friendly spars.) Third, the weak could always become strong, and the strong could always get stronger. Basically, everyone had room to improve, so never fool yourself into thinking there's nothing left to learn.
With those three core ideals, Randall grew into an adult and left his father's dojo. After a few years of wandering various parts of the world, he decided to start his own Pokémon journey in order to bring strength to those that needed it.
Personality: Randall's personality can only be described as extreme. He's drunk on life, always cheerful and determined. His outlook seems permanently optimistic, and there is never a gloomy day for him. His energy is practically limitless, but that's due to his endurance building as a kid.
Of course, every person has his flaws. He's not the brightest person ever, not having paid too much attention in school, and is extremely naive. It's like he lives in his own little world, were evil doesn't exist and the worst thing that can happen to someone is to lose their training dummy. Some people find this cluelessness cute, but others are disgusted by it. Not a whole lot of people can stand his extreme personality, but some like his determination and optimistic outlook.
He also tends to speak really loudly, and has a habit of throwing himself into inspirational speeches whenever he sees someone not doing their very best. His speeches are often odd, and are more confusing than helpful to most people.
Info: Alright, this guy's character idea sprang upon me while pondering the fact that some trainers strongly prefer one Pokémon type over the other. I was curious about, if I were ever to make a type-specific trainer, what type would s/he choose? At first, I only considered ghost and steel, but then I remembered the fighting types. It was then that this character started to form in my head, and he was so adorable that I just couldn't dump him in the waste bin. I hope you guys don't mind his over the top personality.
