Cody was standing on the very route he had just walked down to get his first pokemon, a Shuppet that he had decided to name Prankster after the embarrassing rank it decided to pull back at the Ranger Station. He decided that for now, it would be safer to keep it in the pokeball. He had been a little scared to walk down this route before, but now he had a pokemon to defend himself with. He knew he would have to walk through in order to challenge the first gym.
He took the first step of his journey into the first route. A step that will change the way he views the world, in due time.

>Look both ways before you cross the street!< It was a common statement that a mother would tell her baby. And this was no different as the statement was drilled into the mind of the Rattata as an adolescent, to the point where he started hating it so much that he deliberately ignored it at times now that he was grown up and out of his house. He quickly ran through the street, looking for a challenger when he did not look and accidentally came crashing where Cody was walking. >Oh crud! I should have...< He stopped, unable to finish his sentence. So there was a reason why parents teach their children this saying... And this was exactly why. Cody felt something bump into his feet as he was walking down the road. He looked down and saw that it was a Rattata rushing by. He knew this was a perfect opportunity to test out his battling skills. "Prankster, let's go!" He said excitedly as he tossed the pokeball the belonged to his first Pokémon. His first battle was about to start. ::Shuppet:: Name: Prankster (Shuppet) Level: 5 Ability: Insomnia, Frisk Attacks: Knock off, Screech "Now, use screech!" The Shuppet emitted an irritating screech. "Follow it up with knock off!" He shouted out as Prankster dashed toward the Rattata, did a downward somersault, and attempted to smack the Rattata downward with his lower body. (cloak?) Battles were quite exciting.

Wild Pokemon
The Rattata held his small paws to his ears, the Ghost Pokemon that had came out of that Pokeball began screeching loudly. It pierced his ears and he whimpered. Whoa, was he being attacked just for bumping into this Trainer? If that was the case he better apology right now! <I'm sorry for bumping into you! But you were kinda in my way. I was going the right way after all.> He said. OK well it was half of a apology.
Then the Shuppet came at him again, this time knocking him around. <Ow!> He cried out. After the set of attacks stopped the Rattata thought what to do. Well first off he should attack back. His tail behind him began wagging back and forth, hoping to distract the Pokemon as he prepared his next attack.
After his Tail Whip as done he charged towards the Shuppet. <Ahhhhhhh!> He cried out. As he got close he jumped up, trying to Tackle the Ghost. His moves should hit, right? ...yeah, of course they would. He's always right. His Tackle would hit a Ghost type for sure.

In his excitement, Cody hadn't realized what he was doing until he had seen the Rattata's reaction. He just attacked a harmless Pokémon. He should only battle wild Pokémon that attack him first. After seeing the Rattata's failed attempt to tackle the Shuppet, he decided to call of the battle. Cody did not want to continue his bad choice of action. "Prankster, come on back." He spoke as he raised its pokeball, pulling the Shuppet back into the ball.
He walked up to the Rattata and reached down to pat it on its head. "Sorry about that, I guess I got a little carried away." He apologized to the Rattata. He knew if anybody heard him, he'd sound pretty dumb talking to a Rattata after attacking it, but it seems as though Pokémon can understand human speech. Though, he still felt weird. Apologizing to a Pokémon is something you never really think of when you think of a Pokémon trainer.

Wild Pokemon
The Rattata just passed through the Shuppet like he wasn't even there. <Eh?> Tumbling down to the ground the Rattata's head was lightheaded. Wasn't he supposed to Tackle him? Maybe he missed...no no that couldn't be right. He passed through him, right through! Sitting up the Rattata scratched his head. There's no way his attack missed though, how odd...
The Rattata noticed the human coming at him and he quickly got to his feet. Baring his teeth he growled. <Don't come any closer! I have teeth and I know how to use them!> He cried. No one could blame him for acting like this, he just got a attacked sheesh.
The Rattata was a bit taken aback that the Trainer said he was sorry for attacking. Lowering his guard only a bit he tilted his head. <Then why did you attack me?> He asked. Careful of the human he took a step back, waiting for his answer.

"I guess I just got carried away." Cody spoke, without even noticing the Rattata asked a question. He was still sort of glancing around hoping nobody would hear him talking to this wild Pokémon. "I just got excited seeing a wild pokemon, and wanted to see what a battle would truly be like. I didn't even notice I was doing something wrong until I saw your reaction." He said. He reached in to try and scratch it behind the ear. He stood up and continued to walk down the path, trying to forget what just happened. It was hard, he felt terrible attacking an innocent Pokémon.

The Rattata could kind of see where the trainer was coming from, and he felt good to be right this time. Ha, he was justified and this human was wrong. With a smile, he nodded at the guy, glad to have this resolved so he could run off again. <Yeah, well make sure you uh, ask next time.> Oh, he could probably give more information than that! He knew some really rowdy Pokemon nearby!
<There’s a little area around here with a bunch of grass types that love to battle. Just follow those rocks.> He motioned towards a pair of giant rocks in the distance, which seemed to lead to a path of some kind. It was off the path to Electric City, but if you had the right tools you could probably find your way back somehow.
Without giving the trainer a chance to continue the battle, the Rattata bolted off into the foliage. He was long gone, but maybe you should take his advice. It certainly couldn’t hurt to find Pokemon that liked to battle.

Cody noticed that the Rattata seemed to be gesturing to a path branching off. He had no idea what the Rattata wanted to tell him, but he assumed it was pointing him to something. He was quite anxious to see what was over there. He saw the normal type dash off and decided to head to the path the Rattata wanted him to go to.
Not knowing what could lie ahead, he began to get nervous. He was branching off away from Electric city. What if he would get lost? This was a strange thing to be worried about though as he could just easily follow the path back. But there was something that bothered him more than just getting lost. What if he lost a battle against some strong, aggressive Pokemon?

Well, it seemed that whilst the Rattata had indeed lead them off the beaten path, he had not led them astray: there was indeed a Grass-type who was willing to fight. Grass and bug, but it didn't make a difference to the Sewaddle what you called her as long as you didn't insult her reputation. She was one of the toughest gals this section of the route, but she earned this reputation through trickery and dark schemes.
One such scheme was being hatched today. She hadn't singled out Cody in particular, but it seemed that he would be the unlucky one that walked past her hiding spot in the bushes. <Ufufufu!> she snickered under her breath, narrowing her buggy eyes and then shooting a load of her String Shot out in front of the trainer, hoping that she'd be able to tangle his legs and trip him, or at least make him stumble or something.
Emerging from her hiding spot she sneered, <I was hoping for a Pokemon, but I guess you work, too.>

As he was walking, Cody tripped over a string shot that came out of nowhere! "Whoa!" He shouted as he crashed into the ground. He stood up, and brushed the dirt off of his jacket. He was angered, but is anger soon turned into excitement as he saw the Sewaddle crawl out of the bushes to the side. "So, did you trip me? I take it you wanna battle then. Prankster, our first real battle, come on out!" He shouted. Name: Prankster (Shuppet) Level: 5 Ability: Insomnia, Frisk Attacks: Knock off, Screech "Same strategy as before. Use Screech!" Cody said as the Shuppet let out an irritating screech. He would have to get used to this considering he would have to use it every time in order for knock off to deal a good amount of damage. "Now, Knock off!" Cody shouted as the ghost type charged toward the Sewaddle, flipping to smack it with his tail.

The Sewaddle was a bit surprised by that loud screech from the ghost, actually not expecting a ghost to be her foe but that was alright. She gulped from the surprise before deciding that she was just going to have to take it for now. The ghost couldn't be any better than she was, heck, it died already! Talk about pathetic! With her mind prepared for the battle, she was swiftly knocked backwards from the weak knock out. It did damage thanks to the screech, but they still had a while to go if they wanted to knock her into fainting.
<Haha, little ghostie. You must think you're all that. Let me help correct that.> She sneered, crawling quickly towards the Shuppet with a dangerous look in her eyes. This wouldn't be good, at least for her foes. Wiggling her rear, she pounced into the air with hungry fangs opening wide for a meal.
She planned on dropping herself right on the ghost type, with her hungry teeth itching to get a snack out of this Shuppet. If it had any berries on hand, they would instantly be devoured from this mouth. She doubted it had any though.

[Sorry for my recent inactivity. Several things in real life have become quite a handful.] When the Sewaddle lunged at Prankster, Cody wasn't quite ready and as a result, the Shuppet was bit hard on the head. The dramatic level difference caused quite a lot of damage to the ghost type. "Prankster, are you okay?" Cody yelled out seeing the pain that the ghost was in. But neither of them were about to give up that easily. Prankster shook the bug off of his head and nodded back at Cody. At Cody's command, he then used Screech followed by Knock off again. There really wasn't much else to do with the limited moves it knew at the time. ::Shuppet:: Prankster (Shuppet) Level: 5 Gender: Male Attacks: Knock off, Screech Abilities: Insomnia, Frisk Damaged by Bug bite.

::sewaddle:: (Defense -4) Level 8 | Female Swarm & Chlorophyll Tackle, String Shot, Bug Bite Personality: Eager for battle, tough, mischievous. Hit by Screech & Knock Off Used String Shot "Here we go again!" She felt the need to comment as the ringing noise echoed into her ears and made her shiver up and down her spine. While she was in the midst of the screech attack the Shuppet pounded her again with a knock off attack. It easily hurt twice as much this time as it did before and she yelped loudly, jumping away from the ghost. "Nyah!" Playfully she stuck her tongue out, but suddenly shot out string shot from her mouth and at Shuppet during her raspberry! Ideally she was trying to constrict the ghost and prevent his movement.
