__Croaaa... Speechless and Cold
Despite the forecast of sunlight, the Tanali Mountain Range was completely different. Rain pelted down outside the castle, leaking through the walls of the abandoned castle. It was late; the moon was coming up, basking the land in silver light that cast shadows behind the trees. Silently Merrick approached the castle, pushing his way through the old, worn down doors. They looked like they’d collapse at any given second. Why had he come here again?
A few feet inside, he suddenly staggered and landed on his knee, breathing heavily. That was why - he was a Croagunk Pokémorph. Each night, at the rising of the moon until the next dawn, he’d turn slightly – randomly – into a Croagunk. This was usually just by losing some control over his hands, or feeling weaker than usual, but it was still a massive inconvenience. Despite one trait being lowered, one would also be heightened – like feeling physically weak, but a sense being hyperactive. He had no control over himself at night; he... changed.
His Pokémon – at least Faith and Epsilon – had grown used to his transformations, but the more recent members hadn’t. He stood up again, looking at himself in a broken mirror, and realised what had happened. His legs felt stronger, but his pelvis felt like it was almost reshaping, and he felt like he should be crouching. But his knees felt like springs, and what was more was that his cheeks had turned orange, and when he breathed inwards, they expanded just like a Croagunk’s would.
“Croa,” he hissed to himself. He couldn’t speak at night either. Damn changes...

Mattlock had lost sight of his recent companion. He sighed and shivered. "Merrick. Where are you?" he said softly. Spotting the castle, he knew he would find shelter there and, possibly, Merrick. He stepped forward and looked at the doors. 'Now, just to push on the doors....' he thought. However, he noticed that they were already open. Tilting his head, he walked forth. "Hello?" he called in a soft whisper.

No Pokemon !
It seems that pokemon are rarely found here. If you want something to appear so desperately, it seems you'll have to have a stake out, or something. Who knows. Anyway, nothing happened. Hooray.

__Croaaa... Speechless and Cold
Hearing Mattlock’s quiet voice call out to him, he spun around to face the male, surprise gracing his features for a heartbeat. He didn’t expect anyone else to be here! On other days, he would have told the male to get away from him, but his words would probably make no sense to the man. Instead, he gritted his teeth, his lips parted and let his eyebrows furrow. Great, so he wasn’t alone...
Rather than speak, he narrowed his eyes slightly and began to head back over to Mattlock, releasing a ‘tch’ from his throat, which sounded croaky like ‘gunk’. Half way there, his body jerked and he fell onto his thigh, covering his forehead with his hand. He was sweating and overheating. He hated this feeling! He couldn’t tolerate the heat very well!
Panting, he hissed to himself and pulled off his shirt, tossing it away from him, revealing a well-toned chest, but showed just how emaciated Merrick truly was. His ribs were fairly clear, as if he hadn’t been eating, or as if he hadn’t eaten for most of his life, which revealed a very dangerous part of his history that he never let anyone know.
“Croa,” he growled, which translated to ‘shit’.

Mattlock looked at Merrick and stared. The man noticed that he had transformed into what looked like a human and Croagunk morph. "You're....cheeks are orange..." he said gently. Mattlock tilted his head again and stared at Merrick. His coal black eyes watched as Merrick took off his shirt. 'He is so skinny...' he thought as he stepped forward a little. "I...have...." he started to say. Biting the inside of his cheek, he pulled out some cookies. Leave it to Mattlock to always have something sweet on him. "Here...."

__Croaaa... Speechless and Cold
Merrick was still panting and sweating by the time Mattlock spoke, and he growled defensively at his own cursed weakness. Nobody knew that he changed at night – he usually hid away from others and kept to himself, and that way nobody had to know. He didn’t trust humans, or anyone for that matter. His lip curled up when Mattlock pointed out that his cheeks had turned orange, and they expanded aggressively. If the man had any fur, this would be the time when it would be bristling.
However, Merrick – in his induced confusion – wasn’t expecting Mattlock to approach him. Instead, he had expected the man to run off screaming. Why the hell had he just got closer!? Merrick tried to stand up, but his legs locked and he instead was forced to stay in a crouching position, his knees bent. When he tried to part his fingers, yet again they wouldn’t move – like he had no fingers, but a hand. Despite this, he curled them up into fists and growled again when Mattlock offered him sweets. The male hated sweet food, but rather than protesting, he simply stayed quiet and narrowed his eyes suspiciously, croaking while his cheeks expanded.
"Croa Croagunk gunk Croa!" He muttered, meaning, “Why the hell are you trying to help me?”

"Because I rather help you then fight you. I wish no harm." he answered the man gently. He gave a soft, reassuring smile. His Oshawott had decided to stay him his Pokeball, which was fine by him. Slowly he looked at the cookies. 'Maybe he would eat something else?' he thought as he sat down Indian style and started rummaging through his backpack. Now, Mattlock usually only carried sweets. But recently he had decided to try food that were sweet, but were good for you. However, he had accidently gotten some bitter apples, a few sour grapes, some spicy peppers, and some rather dry bread. "You can have these.....I mostly eat sweet things." he said, handing Merrick a cloth with the non-sweet foods in it.

__Croaaa... Speechless and Cold
Suddenly Merrick froze, staring distantly at – though it seemed like he was staring through – Mattlock. When he talked at night... When he talked at night, he was speaking Pokémon language, not human language. How did... He didn’t understand how Mattlock understood him.
“You understand me...?” He whispered in shock. “...You can tell what I’m saying. Nobody has done that before.” Not even his parents understood him after he turned for the first time – they became so afraid and locked him in his room. Suddenly he took a step back, his eyes turning golden. He would not turn any more like a Croagunk.
He never felt easy taking food from others – as Mattlock pulled out some spicy things, Merrick’s interest peaked for a moment, but then he backed up a bit more.
“No,” he growled, pushing the bag away. “Put your food away.” Despite his hunger – which was evident by his stomach growling very quietly – he wasn’t about to accept charity from some human. Suddenly he turned, draping his arms lazily over his hands before he began to walk in an awkward crouch over to the window. Gazing out for a moment, he observed the weather, and then headed back to Mattlock. “The storm will last for a while. You’d better get comfortable.”

"Well, yeah I can understand you. Why wouldn't I? Your speaking human language just like me." Mattlock said as he continued to sit there. Unless he was having one of his crazy spells. "Unless I'm going crazy again. Same thing happened with Ozzy, my Oshawott." then he looked down and began munching on a sweet apple. He didn't like that it was healthy, but at least it was sweet. "I'm not trying to hurt you....but if you don't want it that's fine." Mattlock then placed the bag of food in a different spot but left it open, just encase.

__Croaaa... Speechless and Cold
Merrick’s eyebrow rose when he mentioned human language, and he hissed through his teeth at the thought of even being labelled as a human. He was not even close to being human.
“I can’t speak ‘human’ like this,” he muttered coldly. “You understand Pokémon speech. Why did you follow me here?”
Glancing back at the food, Merrick reached down for his Pokéballs and released his Pokémon – all but Bird, the Vullaby – and flicked his head up to the bag. His Pokémon blinked at it, but then approached and began to eat the food there. Epsilon glanced over to Merrick, who simply turned his head away, and picked up the bread in her teeth. Carefully she walked over to her Trainer and nudged his leg, offering it to him.
“No,” he muttered bluntly. “You eat it, Epsilon. You need it.” Suddenly his entire team surrounded him – except for Bird, of course – and offered him some food. Again, he hissed ‘no’, but was met by the Pokémon all placing food on his lap, and gesturing that they demand that he eat it.

Mattlock tilted his head. 'I understand Pokespeech?' he thought. Soon, he was met by a nice little scene of Merrick's Pokemon trying to get him to eat. The man smiled softly and leaned back a little. However, his relaxing would soon end once Ozzy came out and struck him ontop of the head with his shell.
"You were eating without me?! I did you do that?!' exclaimed the Oshawott, arms flailing furiously.
"Because I thought your were asleep." stated the trainer, blinking at the Oshawott.
Ozzy sighed and went over to see what was left. His eyes lit up and he picked up...a pear. "I....love....pears..." the Otter said dramatically as he started taking bites out of the fruit.
'Ozzy is an oddball....'

Slowly his Pokémon nudged at his body, demanding that he eat, and Merrick’s fuse began to spark with annoyance. His golden eyes closed, then twitched, and he growled loudly, his feet flexing. Suddenly Epsilon took a step back, lifting her head; and a bang echoed down the corridor. Merrick’s eyes flicked over toward it and he slid a machete out from his belt, cautiously stalking over toward the source of the bang. Without saying a word, he suddenly hopped through the corridor, looking around as he moved.
It might have been nothing, because he’d heard that this Castle was haunted, but if there was another thief in here, Merrick’d scare him away without another word. “Faith, with me,” Merrick muttered.

Mattlock jumped a little, first hearing Merrick growl and then the bang. "What was that?" he said, taking another bite of sweet food. He didn't like being in the Castle due to hearing how it was haunted. He looked at Ozzy, who was still eating his pear. The man sighed softly then turned his attention to Merrick. "What do you think that bang was?" he asked him softly.

Hell, the dude had a shitload of candy in his bag. At least he was quiet – Merrick hated noise. When he returned five minutes later, Merrick seemed different; Faith was not with him. It also appeared that his team had changed, because if Mattlock would turn around, Tepig would not be there either. Instead, trailing behind him was a Croagunk – a Shadow Croagunk that cackled as it walked behind its trainer. “You didn’t say I couldn’t mess about,” Kai commented and crouched down, eyeing Mattlock suspiciously. The Croagunk sneered and watched as his Trainer jumped up onto a ledge high up on the building. Well, Merrick hadn’t told him that he couldn’t have messed around in the strange castle. As far as he was concerned, he could have done whatever he had liked. Why he was saying that Kai had to stay close? Was there something wrong with the castle that Jaysin didn’t like? Well it wasn’t a very appealing place anyway. Maybe he was just tense that someone else was in there with him. Truthfully, Merrick didn’t like company that much. “Didn’t say you could, either,” Jaysin retorted back. “Nothing,” he added to Mattlock. He didn’t like this. For some reason, Mattlock’s soft voice was making him calm down. Somehow it reminded him of his mother’s soft tone when she reassured him, and she had been murdered by him. There was no way he could trust Mattlock – he’d let people close before, and he’d only suffered for it... No, he wouldn’t allow it any more. “Why the hell are you here, Mattlock? Mattlock was left alone for a moment, but when Merrick came back he had more to his team than before. He looked at the Shadow Croagunk and blinked. It looks scary and ominous. Mattlock pulled his Oshawott close to him slowly. The dark haired man heard Merrick say "Nothing" and he looked at up him. He said a few more and a soft frown. "I was with you on the mountain side before we got here. You disappeared and I got worried. so I came here to find you." he spoke softly. "I mean, if you want me to go I will." Mattlock looked at an opening that showed the outside. It had gotten darker by then. The man shook slightly, not wanting to go out there.

The man pulled the Oshawott closer to his body upon seeing Kai. However, Merrick was not concerned with what Kai did from that point on. He just didn’t wish to have the Shadow Pokémon causing mischief at that point in time. As much as Merrick wanted to be alone, the guy below him didn’t seem to be doing that much damage, and he snorted, propping his up his arm onto his knee. Kai cackled as the two seemed to feel unease at his appearance, and simply turned, staring into the reflection of a broken mirror. Oh...? “Do whatever the hell you want,” Jaysin hissed and turned to perch on the balcony, kicking open the window to let some cold air rush against his body. If there was one thing he hated most that wasn’t human, it was being too hot, and right now he felt like he was overheating. His skin was pale and dried easily, which made it fairly prone to cracking. At least he had higher resistance to poisonous fumes. He had his Croagunk genes to thank for that, if he thanked anyone for anything. Moving so that his back was against the cold storm air, Merrick leaned back and looked down to observe what Mattlock was doing. He didn’t trust that man... x Breeding Log: 20/21

Made by Zetsumei of DFRP! Please don't use without permission!

Ozzy, however, had other plans then to run away from the dark looking Croagunk. The little Oshawott happily hopped over to Kai and smiled. Hi there! I'm Ozzy!" he said. Mattlock shook his head and chuckled. 'I guess I should make friends with the Pokemon while I can.' he thought. Slowly, he moved his way over to the Croagunk. "And I am Mattlock. Nice to meet you." he said. "I suppose by what Merrick said earlier, I understand Pokespeech. I just thought I was going insane." he mentioned.
The man looked up at the Croagunk Pokemorph. He frowned slightly at the uneaseness around the area they were in. Mattlock sighed slightly. He stood up, walking with his back bent in an arch a little, and walked over to a small corner. He looked at his backpack and got out a sleeping bag. 'Well, at least Ozzy and I will be warm in here.' he said. He laid it out and sat on it softly, rummaging more through his bag to see what else he had.

They’d been on Route One a short while ago, training, but this didn’t seem like training. Perhaps the Trainer just wasn’t that interested in going out in this storm? It was strange considering Merrick tended to like walking around in storms like this – especially big ones. Hell, whatever he wanted, though. Kai wasn’t about to just go and ignore his Trainer. As he curiously gazed over at the reflection of himself, the Oshawott approached him, and Kai simply continued staring, his cheeks flaring as he watched himself. This was... Odd. “Keh!” was the only response that they received. Kai wasn’t really that interested in socialising too much. There were some Croagunk that were generally mischievous and mean, but there were some that were more comfortable being alone... Just observing, basically, and Jaysin obtained that trait from his genes, Kai would presume. A croaking sound rumbled from his throat as he sat there. ‘Roa... Roa... Roa...’ Until finally... ‘Gunk’. x Breeding Log: 21/21 BREEDING COMPLETE

Made by Zetsumei of DFRP! Please don't use without permission!

Mattlock yawned softly as he heard the Croagunk make a simple noise. Ozzy, however, frowned and tilted his head. Oh well, if the other Pokemon didn't want to converse with the Oshawott, that was all right. Ozzy waddled over to Mattlock and laid down beside him, cuddling up to his leg gently. Mattlock petted the Oshawott and looked up at Jaysin. "You just going to stay up there?" he asked gently.

Well he could stay up on the ledge if he wanted to. There was no reason why he shouldn’t, or couldn’t, right? Slowly he locked his fierce eyes with Mattlock’s, tilting his head to catch the sounds of his heartbeat, and of his Oshawott’s soft breathing. The two were close, it seemed. Oshawott was a rare Pokémon – worth stealing, but not just yet. It was still weak, and he wanted to see how it grew before he even thought about trying to steal it. Besides, he already had a Water type on his team – he didn’t need another.
Kai stared at himself in the mirror for a few more seconds before he turned and walked off toward the Oshawott, picking it up by the arm and rotating it around. Since the air was so calm, he wanted to get a better look at the odd little otter Pokémon. Hopefully it wouldn’t mind the close proximity between the two. The frog blinked and stared at the shell on its chest for a moment. Oh, he’d heard that those could be used for a weapon – the scallop, right? Would the Oshawott let him use it? He crouched down, croaking a few times before he shrugged and walked off, jumping up to Merrick and blinking once. Ahh, a Croagunk Morph and his Croagunk...
