Occupation; Pokémon Trainer
Appearance
Phillip is fairly tall at about 5' 10". His build is lean but muscular, and overall he looks like any healthy teenager. His hair is a deep red which he inherited from his father's side, and is not unlike the color of blood. His eyes are from his father's side as well, in the form of deep blue orbs. To keep most of his hair out of his eyes Phillip usually pulls it back into a tight ponytail, but even then it manages to reach his shoulders. Kept loose it can reach his upper back-- which he considers a small accomplishment given to the fact that his parents previously made him cut it short. Even his bangs are able to reach his chin, yet somehow they don't seem to bother him very much.
The rest of his body is well-muscled from years of conditioning it for travel. To help him along are legs long enough to leave him at least two steps ahead of everyone else unless he slows down. There are no notable marks or scars on his body to speak of as he spent the majority of his life far away from any risky activities. He also spent a lot of his time inside as well, which left his skin pale, if not a bit ghostly. Unfortunately even if he wanted a tan it would be very hard for him as he burns easily. It's not uncommon for him to smell like mint and menthol after a particularly bad sunburn.
In his opinion, menthol smells a lot better than suntan lotion, so instead of using sunblock he prefers jackets and long pants. Perhaps not entirely as effective as actual lotion, but he'd rather take the risk of burning over the horrendous smell. It works well enough even during the hotter months since Phillip is smart enough to buy light materials that can breathe well. It also helps that he's used to climates much hotter than the mountainous region of Cheyenne, so by default he's a bit more heat resistant. The clothes themselves are usually neutral colors and not too flashy or expensive. In fact, he gets them all for down-right cheap. Despite coming from a wealthy family, the boy always buys his clothes off the clearance racks at outdoorsman stores or secondhand shops. This way not only is his wardrobe practical for traveling, but practical economically too. The only truly expensive piece he ever wears nowadays is his keepsake from home. A gold pendant stamped with his family's crest and hung on a gold chain. The only time he takes it off if to shower, and even then it's withing his sight at all times.
Personality
As long as anyone can remember, Phillip has had an independent streak. This in itself is a hard thing to live out when you're born into one of the wealthiest and prestigious families in the region. While being waited on hand and foot was nice he really didn't feel comfortable with it. The boy liked making his own bed and picking up his own toys. He even held a few jobs when he was older and managed the income all by himself. Perhaps it was less responsibility and more stubbornness that drove his actions. The boy could never back down from a challenge and was a very proud individual. Relying on others, especially relying on money that he didn't even earn himself was like an insult to him; and once he gets in his head that something is wrong he'll go to great lengths to correct it.
Phillip is in no sense of the word a quitter or a dreamer. He does the things he intends on doing and he'll put everything he has into finishing it. Perhaps it was this go-getter attitude that lead him to love adventure as much as he loves hard-work. Being completely cutoff from any life-support, having to work and earn your living on the road was always something Phillip practically idolized. He used to have dreams of hitchhiking around the region and hiking through dense forest to reach some previously undiscovered landscape. The thought of seeing a new sunrise every morning made him quiver with excitement. Of course, being Phillip, he was never one to just dream.
History
Phillip Victoria was not born in the Cheyenne region. The young man was actually born in a region very far away, where the Victoria name was synonomous with wealth and prestiege. He was not born into the main line, but his house still held a large sum of money to their name. Even so, he felt uncomfortable living such a lavish and plush life. He loved his family, he truly did, and he always marveled at the sheer luck that he was born into such a proud lineage, but something felt missing. It was almost like his life seemed false. His answer came in the form of Pokémon.
Mary Victoria was Phillip's older cousin by nearly 15 years. Though she was born into the main family line she chose to travel the Shori region and managed to defeat the Elite Four. Years later she became a gym leader. The boy looked up to his cousin like one looks up at a legendary Pokémon. Phillip was determined to experience the journey for himself, but he would take it even farther. The truth was, when Mary traveled around the Shori region she still dipped into her family's account from time to time. In his opinion his cousin cheated, but he would not follow the same route. Literally.
As soon as Phillip turned 18 he bought a ticket to the Cheyenne region and found work in a port city for a year. When he arrived in the region he stepped off the boat with a backpack filled with only bare nessecities, the clothes on his back, and a wallet full of 300 PD. Ever since then he's been saving his hard-earned money to go on an epic journey around the Cheyenne region-- battling gyms and catching Pokémon. Phillip has never been one to do things by halves, and he's not going home until he's beaten the elite four and forever carved his name into Cheyenne's memory.
