He’ll also just walk around barefoot for no reason. Due to his circumstances he doesn’t live in any set place, he lives off of the land, and eats herbs and berry’s. But his main meal and talent is fishing. He sleeps in his boxers, he always has at least 10 pairs of boxers in his knapsack at all times. A black threaded necklace hangs off of his neck, usually inside his shirt, which has a symbol for water energy made out of sapphire hanging from it.
Background:
Born on a rainy Saturday in the middle of the day, his life started out as any others. He had a loving mother and father named Trishana and Maclyn. In a small secluded island 20 miles off of the coasts of Cheyenne, a village of people who lived simple lives doing simple things. Hunting, planting, telling stories, and living alongside Pokemon was the norm for these peaceful peoples. At the tender age of five Jack became friends with his very first pokemon, as it was procedure for the people of this humble island. As it was foretold by the village elder, every fourth night of the 5th month a Pokemon comes out of the forest and enters the village. It was the agreement between the humans and the pokemon, in order to keep equilibrium.
“Mommy mommy its tonight isn’t it?” He would squeak, “I get my Pokemon today wiiight?” His mother would just smile down at him while nodding her head, trying to continue to move around while her offspring kept an iron grip on her pant leg. Everytime he let go he would end up rolling around the wooden floor until he bumped into an idle couch or chair. All of the energy and excitement made as roly poly as a Phanphy. Everytime he saw a pokemon in his village his eyes would shine with delight and his body would immediately carry him to it. He could always be found playing with his dad’s Lucario. They were the native pokemon of this island, and most of the pokemon who stumbled out of the forest were Riolu. And to nobodies, surpriese that very night, Jake received his own. As the Riolu came out of the forest, his red eyes met Jakes deep emerald ones and the connection was instant. The riolu bounded on all fours toward him and he already had his arms ready to recieve. Being the only child of this generation of the island he didn’t have any childhood friends, but his Riolu was almost like his brother.
As the years moved on, a now 12 year old Jake and his counterpart couldn’t be separated. Which puzzled the adults of the village because the two couldn’t be more different personality wise. Jake was stupid. Incredibly stupid, he had complete confidence, and academically he was average, but when it came to thinking before he acted, there was no brain activity involved. He always said what was on his mind, and only filtered out the things HE thought would offend people. He would argue his point even if he knew he was wrong until someone showed him evidence otherwise. And when it came to the village women, he was a smooth talker. Only because they always complimented him on how adorable he was, a 12 year old hitting on a 17 year old always had its cuteness factors. In those crucial years, in which most children start to feel insecure, he would have a sense of pride and confidence. His head occasionally got big, but as soon as someone bought it to his attention, namely Riolu, he would stop immediately. He always did what he thought was right, unless he was feeling mischevious, otherwise he always did his best to protect the weak. Riolu on the other hand spoke to nobody but Jake. He was calm and cool, if not a little shy around the villagers, he could never be seen with anyone but Jake. Whenever Jake got himself in trouble or hurt, Riolu was the on who bailed him out. Until the day of the Cleanse.
The day of the Cleanse was a day that the village prophesied to come. But no one believed it, they thought it was an old wive’s tale. Until the Village elder warned them himself that it was upon them. But his words came too late, a giant tsunami hit the island and most everybody was dead or wounded. Jake and Riolu were out tree climbing that day and the tree they were in was strong enough to brave the tsunami, the watched in horror as gallons of water rushed by them. Later Jake found out from one of the few survivors that his parents came looking for him right before the tsunami hit and couldn't be found. After waiting and searching for three years,
Jake decided it was time to leave the island, his heart still in turmoil and his Riolu non the better. They made a raft and decided to row to the mainland of Cheyenne. He and Riolu left on a bright sunny morning, a knapsack full of supplies, and a wrenching in his gut as no one was there to see him off. However, half way to the island a storm appeared out of nowhere, as they saw a large shadow zoom under they're raft. They capsized seconds later and while Jake tried to hang on to his Riolu, the current pulling him deeper into the water, he was slowly losing consciousness as Riolu’s paw slipped from his hand. The last thing he saw was his brother being dragged away, and a blur of a yellow eye and a bright red outline.
The next thing he knew he was being dragged through the water. It had a yellow mohawk and a yellow mustache... was orange, and had big pink lips. But what struck him was this magikarps eyes, they were red, the same exact red as his riolus. He unconcsiously gripped the magikarp tighter.. He could only hear “Magi Magi Magi Magi.” as he was being pulled along, this magikarp was taking him to shore and before he knew it he was on land. 2 years later, present day, he and his Magikarp, which he named Crimson, were inseperable. His magikarp was the only thing he had left. He started a business with Crimson in order to make money, Crimson would go out and coax some fish to his rod, of course they would take the bait, and Jake would catch and sell them. It was enough for him to get by, as he was on the constant move, until one day he saw a trainer battle. Both he and Crimson were captivated and they had a mutual understanding as they met each others gaze that this was something they wanted to do. Something they wanted to be the best at. As Jake vowed to himself that he would find his parents and his Riolu, he also vowed that he would become a Pokemon Master.
