The rain had stopped, but the thick clouds in the sky lingered, which was perfectly fine with Celia. The Whismur morph's sensitive eyes didn't appreciate too much sunlight. However, this prime time to travel without hurting her eyes was ruined by the fact that her legs were incredibly sore from the distance she'd already walked... which actually wasn't all that much. She got tired way too easily now, from not exercising regularly in years.
So instead, Celia was sitting under a tree with her legs tucked close to her body and her back leaning against the rough, sturdy trunk. Her glass flute was balanced delicately on her knees, her fingers absentmindedly tapping out notes at the holes. B flat, D, F, B flat, A, E flat, C, B flat. Arpeggios were fun.
Celia glanced sideways at Rue, who was sitting placidly on the wet grass beside her and staring up at the clouds above. The morph reached out and patted her Miltank awkwardly on the arm; it still felt a bit damp and cold to the touch from being stranded in the rain earlier, right before Celia took the poor Pokémon as her "starter".
And now... well, now Celia supposed she was a trainer, and Rue was her first battling partner. Because that's what trainers were supposed to do, right? Battling was their entire purpose. But if she had to be honest with herself, the fifteen-year-old had to admit that she was afraid—she didn't know a thing. No experience, no knowledge... well, unless the stuff in those textbooks from way back in Pokémon Trainer's School counted, but those were only the bare basics. There was a whole lot more to being a good trainer than shouting out commands at your Pokémon.
... Okay, maybe that wasn't the best word choice, Celia conceded with a slight frown. She fidgeted with the flute in her hands, her sole way of communicating with her Pokémon in the heat of a battle. Meanwhile, Rue stared at her trainer with a sort of polite bewilderment, trying to figure out what could be going on in her mind at the moment. The Miltank was thankful for Celia for taking care of her and helping her warm up after the rain shower was over, but she was a strange girl. Since they met, Rue had heard her speak exactly once, and that was only to nickname her new Miltank in a breathy whisper. Celia evidently did have a voice... she just never used it to speak out loud. A strange girl, indeed.

Welcome, Trainer!Time: Day || Weather: Rain Clouds Pass By [atrb=border,0,true] { Ledyba } Level 3, Female Swarm|Early Bird Tackle Personality: Friendly|Kind-hearted|Foams at the mouth when excited. motto: Don't put all your eggs in one basket. |
A little sweetie appeared from behind a tree, holding a gigantic leaf over her head like an umbrella. She constantly glanced up at the sky, with water dripping off of the umbrella leaf held in her arms. It seemed that the bad weather had passed, but she was worried by the signs in the sky that it would arrive once more. What a shame, she was terrible at flying in the rain, and she didn't want her precious wings to get wet.
Her short antennas that hinted at her gender perked up at the sounds of the background noises, birds specifically, and she instantly went behind another tree. Her bright coloring made her easy to see, and without the rest of her swarm, she was a pretty easy target. Yet she had strayed from them anyways, feeling daring after seeing a cute Caterpie walk by.
His form was hidden in the bushes, and since then, she had been wandering. She heard footsteps nearby, and she perked up from her hiding spot, staring at a trainer and her Miltank. Now they looked like an awkward pair. She gulped, feeling a little shy as she moved away from her hiding spot, making her completely visible. <G-Good day.> She greeted, nodding at the pair.
Interact?

Rue, being the inattentive Miltank she was, didn't notice anything particularly out of the ordinary around her. Her trainer, on the other hand, was having a better time seeing due to the gloomy weather and noticed a very conspicuous spot of orange among the natural browns and greens. Celia gripped her flute tightly with one hand and her other hand darted down to her belongings, in case she had to grab them and run.
There turned out to be no need to, however, when the Ledyba showed herself. Rue finally seemed to notice the brightly-coloured bug and gave her a lazy little smile. <"Hullo there,"> she said politely. <"Wouldn't say it's a good day myself... it was raining right hard a while ago, d'you know?"> The Miltank shivered at the memory of getting lost in that horrible weather, wandering around half blinded by water and drenched to the bone... Meanwhile, Celia, who could understand every word the Pokémon were saying, wasn't sure whether to be amused or perturbed by Rue's literal-mindedness. In the end, she decided to settle for a mixture of both.
Rue glanced around but could see no other Ledyba other than this one. More strangeness; didn't Ledyba usually cluster in groups? The Miltank had lived as a wild Pokémon for a while before meeting Celia, and remembered this much from her encounters with the little orange Bug-types. <"So, hun, what are you doing out here all by your lonesome?">

{ Ledyba } Level 3, Female Swarm|Early Bird Tackle Personality: Friendly|Kind-hearted|Foams at the mouth when excited. motto: Don't put all your eggs in one basket. Well, the Miltank had a point there; it wasn’t really that much of a good day. The Ledya took shelter with the Cow Pokémon and folded in her wings, covering their sensitive membranes with her bright red shell. Why was the Ledyba floating around in the rain? Well, she had a little problem. “Oh n- No, please don’t run!” Ledyba gasped as Celia gripped her flute, “I won’t hurt you!” This Pokémon didn’t seem like something that would hurt anyone anyway. Shrinking down against the floor, she shivered from the cold and flattened her antennae against her head defensively. “I was chased out of my home,” she said sadly, walking over to the Trainer before perching herself by the tree. “This Pidgey was really mean and said that he was going to take my home and my food. I can’t do anything about him; he’s stronger than I am... Would you help me? I have some berries that I could give you if you do!”

The Ledyba's plead for Celia to stay surprised the morph a little. She froze in her tracks, but her hand still remained warily outstretched towards her stuff, even as the Ledyba began to explain herself. Apparently the poor little Bug-type had been forced out of her own home by some Pidgey bully, and she needed help to fight him back.
Celia certainly didn't want to say no—although she personally never had to abandon her home, she couldn't imagine it felt very nice—but... really? This Ledyba wanted her to help? Would Celia even be of any use, or would she just get in the way? She'd never even had a Pokémon battle before! Worse, what if she screwed something up and made the Pidgey even more angry? What would happen to the Ledyba then?
While all of these negative thoughts were racing through Celia's mind, Rue stared at the beseeching Ledyba with a faint frown. <"Suppose that ain't a problem, hun. If you could just get him down here, we can do something 'bout your little crisis. Not too great at climbing myself, see... I dunno about Celia here, but I think she's the same.">
At Rue's words, Celia deflated a little. While she was somewhat glad that her Miltank took charge of the decision, she couldn't help feeling like a bit of a failure that she had to have her Pokémon do things for her.

The Ledyba was kind, but she hadn’t been treated the same way by other Pokémon. Often she did something and found herself empty handed, so she had prepared herself to be denied as she usually was, but to hear the Trainer and her Miltank accept her request for help made her heart soar with happiness. Excitement ran through her, and the edges of her mouth begun to foam slightly, and she jumped up, suddenly ignoring the rain as it slid down her body. “Oh thank you!” She gasped, clasping her hands together, almost as if she were praying thanks to some unseen presence. Bouncing up and down, the Bug Pokémon drifted into the air at a very low altitude and hovered over Celia’s head to protect her from the rain when she should come out of her hiding spot. However, it was unnecessary; suddenly the Pidgey she had mentioned soared over her head and tried to drop some berries on her head. Knocked to the ground, the Ledyba yelped and tried to fold in her wings, but at that angle she found herself unable to correct her posture. She was stuck! Landing, the Pidgey chirped, ignoring the Miltank completely while growling – granted that the bird could growl – and attempted to land beside it. “Half of your berries are spoiled!” He complained angrily. “How am I supposed to eat your food if it’s rotten!?” And with that, the Pidgey attempted to peck her. Would the Trainer stop this Bird?

Both Celia and Rue jumped at the Pidgey's sudden arrival and gaped at his berry bombing of the Ledyba—Celia with an alarmed expression half-hidden by her hands, and Rue with a slack-jawed look vaguely reminiscent of a glare. But the air of disapproval was still there.
Rue was about to go teach the Pidgey a good, hard lesson, when she felt a light poke on her flank. She turned around to see Celia, who had jabbed her with her flute, now holding out a yellow band with red markings on it. When Rue simply stared blankly at it, Celia scooted forward and tied the Muscle Band tightly around the Miltank's chubby pink arm.
Rue nodded approvingly, even though she didn't really know what the new appendage was supposed to do, and she looked expectantly at her trainer for what to do next. Unfortunately, Celia didn't know either, and stared back at her Pokémon with her flute still gripped in her hands... oh, her flute!
The morph quickly brought the glass instrument up to her lips, but then found that she had hit another barrier. She didn't even know any of Rue's attacks! Deciding just to wing it for now for the sake of the Ledyba, Celia blew a short, sharp note and gestured towards the Pidgey with her foot, as both of her hands were occupied.
Rue took this gesture quite literally. She galumphed up to the bird and practically jumped on top of it, attempting to bring her foot down on its body with a Stomp attack. Meanwhile, Celia crawled over to the Ledyba to make sure it hadn't been injured or anything in all the chaos.

The pidgey was taken by complete surprise as the cow basically jumped on him. Stars erupted behind his eyes and began to swmi through his head. He tried to say something, but he found that when the miltank moved merely a decimeter, he flinched. Anger swelled up within the pidgey. Rage and a passionate hatred mixed with hubris and egotistic self-delusion. No one did that to him and got away with it.
The ledyba began to panic. She had a fear of being trapped and right now that fear was coming true and she did not know how to deal with it. Hot heavy tears began welling up in her eyes as she tried to free herself. A fear gripped her chest and her tiny heart began to beat faster and faster. A full on panic attack was developing. This was totally not normal, but then again, she really did try and avoid becoming stuck at all costs.

Rue was surprised when the Pidgey seemed to be unable to move after her attack. But then again, having several dozen kilograms of cow step on you probably wasn't the most pleasant thing in the world.
<"Just a little thing for the future—play nice with others, they play nice with you,"> Rue lectured the Pidgey, topping it off with a Growl as a warning. Hopefully this would ward off the bird's attacks a bit. With another shaky but sure signal from Celia's flute, Rue brought her hoof up again and aimed her next Stomp attack somewhat randomly—whether it hit the Pidgey's face, wing, torso, tail, it didn't really matter to her, as long as he got subdued.
At the Ledyba's clear panic, Celia set her flute aside and reached out to try and help free the struggling bug, using her abnormally powerful strength as an asset. The muscles in her arms burned in protest from the exertion, but Celia bit her lip and tried to focus on her task at hand, even though it was quite hard with the pain and the sounds of Rue and the Pidgey battling nearby. The sooner she got this Ledyba away from the scene, probably the better.

Growling as she attacked, the Miltank brought her hoof crashing down toward the pigeon, and he chirped in return, flapping his wings wildly to pull himself out of the way just before it could make contact. However, he didn’t stop in the air for long, and landed a short distance away before pointing at the Cow Pokémon with his wing.
“Hahahaha!” Pidgey mocked the Pokémon, “You missed! Lose some weight, you fat Cow, and maybe you can hit something for a change!” Oh dear, that was quite rude...
Meanwhile, the Ledyba was – thankfully – pulled free, and she clung to Celia with tears streaming down her eyes, unable to breathe too well. She didn’t want to be removed from the Trainer’s grip, and the distressed Pokémon began to choke on her words as she cried.
“I- I d- d- don’t like b- being s- s- stuck!” She whimpered. Uh oh, she was only getting more emotional every second. What would Celia do?

ooc: ... is the pidgey even supposed to know growl? xD;
Celia had no clue what to do. The Ledyba was clinging onto her and practically bawling in fear about being stuck, but the fifteen-year-old had never had much experience with comforting others. She had been the younger, "sickly" child in the family; her parents were always the ones that comforted her. After a few awkward moments of deliberation, she settled for rubbing the Ledyba on the back as gently as she could—that always did the trick for her when she was a child.
The morph glanced nervously over at the scuffle going on between Rue and the Pidgey. This was the first real battle they had gotten into... and already she seemed to be failing as a trainer. Her flute was still on the ground, but she had no hands to pick it up and command Rue, since the Ledyba didn't seem like she was going to let go anytime soon.
At the Pidgey's less-than-polite taunt, Rue simply blinked. She wasn't one to lose her temper that easily. <"Didn't I hit you just now...?"> she asked bluntly. <"Oh, well... I mean, not just now, but before just now... or just then... whatever you want to call it."> As she talked, she plopped down onto her behind and hunched forward slightly, hiding her belly. No use trying to do anything now that the Pidgey was up there and way, waaay out of her reach. Might as well wait it out until he decided to come back down.

At the mention that the Miltank had actually struck the Flying Type a minute ago, the Pidgey’s feathers ruffled, puffing out to make it appear cuter angrier. Oh, the nerve of that Miltank! As if he, a Pidgey, would be hit! Scowling, the Pigeon Pokémon flared his wings, preparing to take off, and growled at the Miltank angrily. “As if!” He chirped, “For your information, I let you hit me, because I felt bad that you are so fat and ugly!” Oh yay, introducing some of the most cliché insults ever. Please, give the Pidgey a standing ovation before his ego gets even worse. Diving down, the bird attempted to spray sand at the Pokémon before trying to Tackle it. As he dove toward the Cow Pokemon, he looked up toward the computer screen and sneered, "Kath, you stupid n00b! Get off the Vodka! I don't know Growl!"Meanwhile, the Ledyba clung tightly to the Trainer, disturbed about her ordeal. A hand patted the bright red shell on her back and she sniffed, shivering ceaselessly. She snuggled into Celia’s stomach and continued to cry, though now she was trying to calm herself down. Awww... ooc: can i just say, that post made my entire weekend. xDD
Rue stifled a laugh at the Pidgey's attempts to insult her, and his claim that he "let" her hit him. <"'Course you did, hun,"> she said dismissively, not believing a word of it; it was like someone tripping ungracefully and saying "I meant to do that!"
With her bum firmly on the ground and her body practically sprawled out in front of her, Rue couldn't move nearly fast enough to avoid the sand thrown in her face, or the full body tackle that followed it. Fortunately for her, the size disparity and the Miltank's defensive position helped make the attack a little less painful. Just a little.
Her sort-of-strategy had worked, anyway: now the Pidgey was close enough for Rue to actually do something. She growled again, trying to catch its attention and make it stay down for a bit longer, and then launched back at it with a Tackle herself.
When the Ledyba appeared to be regaining some semblance of self-control, Celia carefully crouched down and began lowering her to the ground, though she didn't dare let go quite yet. "Just for a bit... okay?" she whispered hesitantly, feeling the need to ask for the Ledyba's permission before she put her down. She didn't want to upset the bug even further, but as a trainer Celia really needed to pick up her flute and start getting involved in Rue's battle again.

Upon seeing the trainer let her down to the ground, the Ledyba began to freak out again and flap her wings wildly in an attempt to stay onto Celia and not allow her to let go. >No! Please don't let go! Please!< She said, freaking out as she found some safety and the trainer was able to take it away... Just like that. AT the meantime, the Pidgey was quickly struck with a growl and another tackle and it pushed him back a bit, but he simply did a whirl just to pretend that the attack had no impact on in. In reality, that was a lie as it did hit pretty hard, although it wasn't enough to make him weakened or get him nervous. Not yet at least. >That's the best you got!?! Well it's over then!< He said as he tried to throw sand at the Milktank once more... But this time he refrained from attacking as he thought that was too much for the fat cow to handle at once. >You are spared this time around.< He said. ::Pidgey:: (-2 attack) Summary: Hit by Growl and Tackle. The Ledyba clearly wasn't very keen on being let go of, which put Celia into a bit of a tight spot. Adhering to the Ledyba's plea, she held the little bug close again, but panic was now rising inside of her. What was she supposed to do now?
She glanced down at her flute. Could she possibly still do something useful with only one hand?
Keeping the Ledyba gingerly cradled in one arm, Celia reached down with the other and picked her flute up off the ground. To her dismay, the bottom was now dirty, but at least when setting it down before, she had taken care not to touch the mouthpiece to the ground.
It was awkward holding the glass instrument one-handed, and even more so trying to balance her mouth on it to play it properly. Fortunately, she could still play a proper note, even with one hand doing the fingerings.
Rue heard the familiar sound of her trainer's flute as she felt her tackle land on the Pidgey. The Miltank whipped her head around in case Celia was trying to command her, but then felt something grainy hit the back of her head. More sand? Really? She hastily dove out of the way before the Pidgey's attack could make her even blinder.
And then—there it was, that same note again. It sounded out while she was executing Tackle, so...
Rue whirled around and threw herself in the Pidgey's general direction again, although truthfully she wasn't exactly sure if that brown blob in front of her was really her opponent or not. Her eyes were still stinging a bit from the Sand-Attack that had actually hit earlier. <"Sorry, hun,"> she grunted. An apology seemed appropriate after the Pidgey had so considerately spared her. <"Followin' orders here.">
Meanwhile, Celia tilted her head in mild confusion. Okay, so apparently D flat was now associated with Tackle. Sure, why not.

The large and very fat cow came and smacked hard into the Pidgey after which caused a very sharp pain in his left wing as he began to feel it cringe together and possibly even crumble. The pain was intense and he almost wanted to cry, but he had to show that he was the alpha around here and thus held back his tears. In an instant he tried to whip some sand and throw it at the cow once more before he charged and tried to tackle it again. >You're going to hit me? How do you like getting hit yourself!< He said. He wouldn't admit that he was losing the match... Although it was pretty clear that he was closing. The Pidgey was a bit pompous, that much was very clear. The Ledyba on the other hand began to feel comfortable and soothed in Celia's hand. Until she began to play her flute... Just then she began to freak out and started flapping like crazy, trying to smack the flute off of the girl. >No! Please stop! Please stop!< She began to cry... Something about the music started to bother her. ::Pidgey:: (-2 attack) (Weakening) Summary: Hit by Tackle. Used Sand-Attack and Tackle. Celia managed to pull her flute out of the Ledyba's reach just in time. It would be horrible if it fell and broke! What's gotten into the Ledyba all of a sudden? She stared helplessly down at the little wild Bug-type, who apparently wanted her to stop playing, and then she glanced up at Rue with an apologetic expression. Rue caught her trainer's sight and lazily waved an arm to acknowledge the situation. Seemed like Celia's hands were full (literally), so the Miltank have to take care of herself for a while.
Suddenly, the Miltank was hit by another barrage of sand and—ow!—a full body tackle straight to the stomach. She wasn't expecting that at all!
The good news was, the impact seemed weaker than before... the bad news was, the Pidgey wasn't the only one who was weakening. Rue's endurance was remarkable, but the Pidgey's bullheaded attacking was beginning to get wearisome. It seemed about time to finish this off once and for all.
Rue hastily curled up her body, trying to take advantage of the Pidgey's position and trap him in a hug-like grip. She had to rely on her sense of touch for this; the sand in her eyes was making them water horribly and she couldn't see a thing. She would immediately hurl herself forwards onto the ground and hopefully manage to squish the Pidgey underneath her... and that bird thought that her weight would be a disadvantage in battle.

This battle in general was just plain unusual, but when the Miltank approached the weakening Pidgey, he suddenly had a sense of horror. He flapped his wings to try and get away from her fat body, but it was big. Much too big to get away from, and he was hidden away under all of that lard and milk. Muffled sounds were heard, and the Ledyba gasped and stared at the scene, clinging to Celia for comfort. What was going on? Was the Pidgey...dying?
If the Miltank got off of the bird, it would be revealed that the Pidgey had fainted. If she stayed on him too much longer, he'd probably suffocate to death. You did have to remember that he was kind of small, size wise, and got the snot kicked out of him. So being squished this much was not helping.
<Oh! I think you...uh, got him.> The Ledyba sniffled, fluttering off the human when she realized the problem was over. The music was gone, and she didn't feel like she needed to be a pest. She was simply glad that she wasn't alone at this time of day. <These two are the only good ones left.> She noted, picking the two Oran Berries out of the squished and eaten up pile. She wiped them clean with her elbow before fluttering back to the girl, holding them out as a gift.

Finally, it was done. Rue rolled lazily off the fainted Pidgey and onto her back beside him, stretching out as if trying soak up some warm rays of sun... if there were any, that is. The sky still remained as resolutely stormy as ever. Nevertheless, the Miltank wanted to take advantage of the sudden calm to relax and unwind a bit, and to catch her breath after the recent battle. It sure did take a lot out of her when the opponent was so... energetic, she supposed with a chuckle.
Meanwhile, Celia accepted the Ledyba's berries with a polite nod and an air of mild bemusement. It was nice that the Ledyba wouldn't have to worry about being bothered by the Pidgey anymore... oh, the Pidgey!
Celia bit her lip when she glanced over at the unconscious bird. As much of a bully as he was, she didn't feel right just leaving him there. But what if he woke up and started attacking her? She supposed she could call on her Miltank for protection again, but Rue didn't look in any shape to go through all that chaos the second time in a row.
Instead, the morph rummaged through her belongings, stashing away the Oran Berries while she was at it, and retrieved a single, shiny red-and-white ball she had gotten from the Ranger Station. The Trainer's School had gone over how to use these plenty of times. Just aim and throw. Easy enough. Even a beginner couldn't screw this up, right...?
Looking slightly uncertain if this was really going to work, Celia tossed the Pokéball at the fainted Pidgey and waited for something to happen.

With the annoying Pidgey so weakened, he had little energy to fight of the Pokeball. It rattled back and forth before completing the capture with a ping. He probably was not going to be a very obedient Pokemon, and he definitely didn't seem to like the Miltank so much for beating him up. There were a lot of things for this trainer to consider if she ever planned on using him in battle, but for now, it was probably for the best to rest up with those offered Oran Berries.
<Thanks for taking him out of my wings.> The Ledyba buzzed, now stress-free. She winked at the pair before flying off towards her nest, just wanting a break from it all until she could figure out what to do with her missing berry stash. She also did feel guilty for being so clingy to the trainer, so to her, she thought it was for the best to leave them be.
Now that things have quieted down, there seemed to be nothing but free time. It was oddly relaxing how still it all was. The skies were cloudy, and probably wouldn't let the sun out for a while.
