Ghost was suddenly surprised by the attack. She had not been quick enough to lift her head at it. When it came to the right moment though, she attempted to dodge it. The rattata managed to scraped her left leg. She rolled over herself and ran into the tree, wincing in pain she watched as a bunch of leaves fell on her. "Ow" Ghost said simply.
Rivaxorus ran over to ghost. "Are you alright ghost?" she asked then turned towards the rattata and smiled. "That was good, your a very strong fighter. I think ghost is done fighting though" Rivaxorus said as the ponyta got onto her knees but no further. Scratch marks on her leg from the tackle.

Rivaxorus smiled, and put her hand slowley down, trying not to startled the rattata. She touched his head, stroking his back hoping to comfort him. "Here, I'm gonna put you in a pokeball" she said pulling out one of her pokeballs. Calling the ponyta to return she turned towards the rattata. Throwing the pokeball, she hoped that the rattata would like his new nickname as soon as she decided what it would be.
::ponyta:: Ponyta returns. Rivaxorus uses pokeball.

Rattata felt himself become enveloped by the warmth of the Pokeball and smiled, knowing he would now be with people who would allow him to reach his full potential.. After all, they had aided him in overcoming his shyness and fear and given him the courage to battle. Who knew what else they could do for him? The Pokeball shook lightly with excitement before stilling, now called home by an ecstatic Rattata. ::rattata:: You caught Rattata. -Time passes- Rivaxorus sorted out some of her twigs she had collected. It was now dark and Jared, her knew rattata was sleeping under a tree. Riv never really liked keeping her pokemon in their pokeballs. It was only when they traveled she really put them in there along with when they were going to battle. Her ponyta was also sleeping, not as quiet as Jared but still at least her fainted flames gave off some heat. As they rested Riv just played with her sticks. Wondering if she would meet another wild pokemon. Better yet, maybe a trainer. ::Ponyta:: ::rattata::

- A young avian hopped along the route, switching feet occasionally in order to test out her sense of balance. Once or twice she had trouble keeping straight, and in one leap she even fell right on her poor tushie. She looked up at the lonely blue sky and started to feel sorry for herself, whimpering a little as she got back up. Today had been an awfully hard day, and with all of her friends practicing the big flight away from the cold Winter, she was going to be left behind.
- Being the weakest of the bunch wasn't the best thing in the world. In fact, it was the worst. She never had an electic choice of meals because the better Pokemon took them first, she often got bullied, and she had to deal with the difficulties of surviving by herself. Her species wasn't the type to flock in large groups after all.
- It was a lonely life, after all. She let out another pitiful sigh as she hopped right past Riv and her Pokemon, unaware of their presence. Not that it mattered much, because she wasn't the most interesting of things anyways.

Jared silently slept, healing himself from the fight with the ponyta. He was woken by the sound of footsteps from a owl like pokemon. He looked at her, she sort of reminded him of, well him. He was a runt, timid and scared, but he would do what he could to get stronger. The rattata scuttled from his feet under the night sky. He came from behind the hoothoot he believed. "Your a bird" he almost exclaimed as his cute little eyes starred at her.

The Hoothoot sighed heavily. <Yes yes, I am a bird. What were you expecting? A dog or something?> She said. No tone of emotion in her voice, not mad or cold, just talking. She really didn't have emotion, she lived a lonely life it seemed, nothing exciting happened, no one wanted her, she lost her will to even get up sometimes.

Jared looked at her, she looked sad to him. He was a runt just like her, but he knew that he had a place in this world and he had found it. The little rattata run out in front of the hoothoot. "No, it's just I don't get out much and I'm a trainers pokemon now so I need to know lots of pokemon type to battle them" he said excitedly looking over at his now asleep trainer. The ponyta, how graceful, looked awake just that she was just listening to what the rattata and the hoothoot were doing. "You know, if you go with my trainer she takes good care of you. And always tries to make you stronger. At least that's what Ghost told me" the little rat pokemon said.

Hoothoot couldn't help the expression of curiosity spreading acorss her face. How strange that this Rattata was being so kind,, when usually her kind preyed on their young. Still, as they were both runts, she felt an odd connection with the Rattata, despite her natural urges that she was looking at an enemy. She looked at her stunted wings and small, thin form as Jared told her this Trainer could make his Pokémon stronger. Fluffing her feathers, she had already decided how Jared could prove thi to be true. >Show me how strong he's made you.< she ordered, walking a certain distance away from the Rattata and standing in a battle ready position, eyes narrowed. >I need proof that he can make me strong.< Hoothoot challenges Jared. Jared was ready for another fight, but he was not sure Rivaxorus would approve. He nodded though, he did not want to refuse really. "oh, okay" he replied and back up a bit. Perhaps she would make the first move, but the Rattata was ready to attack already. He looked at the hoothoot and then charged. Building up speed he swung back and forth his tiny feet scuttering against the ground. As he used quick attack he went to hit the bird like pokemon quickly.

The Quick Attack came right at the Hoothoot. Digging her talons into the ground she was able to stop herself from being thrown backwards. She was very little impressed by the Quick Attack. Using Growl she hooted at the Rattata. Then taking off from where she was she used Tackle at the Rattata. <Show me your true power!>

The rattata was thrown off by the growl a bit. Yet, he stayed focused as the hoothoot charged him. Suddenly his gaze was stern as he watched her movement. "I will" he raged as he jumped to the side to dodge the attack. It grazed his side, but in a quick turn he used Quick attack once more. Right after he had landed, so hopefully she will not be able to dodge.
::rattata:: Uses tackle.

♀ Hit by Quick Attack ♀ Uses Growl - The Hoothoot noticed a difference when the first growl hit the Rattata, making its second Quick Attack do a little less damage. If she could keep this up, then it would even out the playing field. Her wings hugged her sides, the area the Rattata struck at as she gave it a focused glare. Would it be safe to charge into the fire pit? Or would staying back and waiting be safer?
- She wasn't in a particularly brave move today, so she decided to stay calm and let the Rattata wear itself out. With a determined huff, she inhaled the cold Fall's air and let loose a scary sounding Growl. It would most certainly be the safest route for her to take, especially since she was such a weak battler.

Jared tried to block out the noise of the growl, but it stunned him a bit. The little rattata tried something knew, he jumped back rising his tail. Sternly using Tail whip to lower the hoothoot's defense. Hopefully it would give him time to attack. Then ghost opened her eyes and made her way over. But, she had enough respect to not interrupt the battle.

The Hoothoot's defense lowered due to the Tail Whip, though the Rattata didn't attack after that. She hooted, maybe he wasn't what she thought he was. She Growled at the top of her voice to level the playing field once more before charging at the Rattata with Tackle. Though it was a bit slower, not a lot, but a bit because she was tiring out just a little bit.

uses Growl and Tackle weakening.

Jared was almost distracted but when he heard the cry he turned wide awake. She watched as the hoothoot headed towards him. He formulated a plan quickly, thinking if he did this it would be for the better of his trainer. He waited just long enough when she was close to him, he jumped and did a sumersalte over her. It almost failed, since he was almost out of energy, but he managed it. And in an attempt for a final attack or what not he landed on his feet and immediatly used quick attack bolting to try and hit the hoothoot's back. Ghost watched closley, as Jared attacked the hoothoot. ::rattata:: Dodges tackle. Uses quick attack, is weakening.

♀ Hit by Quick Attack. Weakening. Capture/Battle? ♀ Hoothoot uses TACKLE. - That last second thinking by the Rattata had most certainly caught the Hoothoot off guard, making her even more painfully aware of her own weakness as the Quick Attack struck. More pain into the heart, her own Tackle was slow and wimpy. It never even struck the Rattata. She wished that she could've been at full health, and how she wished that she could have had a manner that was full of raillery and confidence.
- <I...can still...fight.> She panted, skipping the formalities of a silly Growl. Her health was so low, that using that kind of move wouldn't even make a difference now. She made another weak attempt to Tackle at the Rattata's side, but this one looked just as easy to dodge as the last one.
- What would her old friends say if they saw her like this? Would they laugh? Or feel pity? Or even worse, only walk away not not say a word? All of them stung at her heart as she put in one last valiant effort into this attack. It was all or nothing for her now.

The rattata dodged quickly, he was running out of energy himself. Then suddenly a pokeball flew over his head and he heard his trainer yell go pokeball. Obviously she had heard their fight and had awoken. Rivaxorus stood up and walked over, hoping the hoothoot would get caught. Ghost neighed, as if she had wanted some of the action. Rattata waited in anticipation to see if the hoothoot would be added to the party. ::Rattata:: Dodges, almost fainting. Riv uses a pokeball.

Seeing the incoming threat, the Hoothoot reeled, but was still hit. Oh great. Her friends would tell tales of her, they wouldn't be good ones.
She put up a good fight, Hoothoot made sure to think. The sphere that swallowed her shook at least five times, but then to her distress, made a soft ping. It was all over.
You caught a Hoothoot!
