-Time passes-
Rivaxorus put on her pack with her supplies and started down the path. She had slept long enough, for about two days now, and just plain wanted to train her Pokémon she had caught. Specially her ponyta and rattata. The Hoohoot was strong enough to her. Rivaxorus stopped in the middle of the stony path and put her pack down, sitting to take a rest from all the walking. She let Ghost out, since Jared and the new Veronica were healing inside their pokeballs.

The chirp of a hungry bird sounded through Route One, as a beautiful Starly soared overhead, in desperate need of food. It had been almost two days since he had last eaten, and trying to catch Weedle, Caterpie and Wurmple simply didn't work for him, for even they were too fast for his claws. However, it seemed that his hunger was almost at an end. A wizened old tree stood tall in the long grass, a large, juicy blue Oran Berry growing there, just waiting to be expropriated. Unfortunately, there was only one berry, and so only enough for one Pokemon. It could probably be obtained before the Starly if one was fast enough. What will you do?

Rivaxorus stood up when she saw the berry, it was perfect for healing ghost who needed at least a bit more healing from her last battle with the rattata. "Ghost go get that berry for me before that starly gets it" Rivaxorus alarmed the ponyta and she sped towards it, her hooves beating against the stony path. She opened her mouth to try and pick it u gently but not eat it.

The poor Starly. He was almost there, almost there. He beat his little wings as fast as he could, eager to get his small beak around that berry and chomp down it's juicy goodness. However, what the poor bird Pokemon did not expect, was for another Pokemon to beat him to the punch and get to the Oran before he did. As the Ponyta took the berry, Starly instead slammed into the empty earth where it had once been.
Giving a little cheep of pain, obviously dazed, he straightened up and swayed on the spot as he turned to face the Ponyta. <That was... supposed to be... my... berry,> he mumbled, sounding as if he was fighting off some thick fog. Shaking his head, he attempted to Growl fiercely at the other Pokemon, but it ended up coming out as a cute little noise.
::starly:: Starly used Growl.

Ghost snorted at the growl, it really did not do much to her. She had to give him credit for trying though. Ghost was not that mean, she put the berry down and chomped on half of it, not eating the half she had in her mouth with one of her hooves the pushed the other half of the berry towards the starly. "Nice try with that growl kid" she said eating the half of the berry she had.
Rivaxorus watched at her ponyta decide to share the berry with the wild starly. The trainer was running low on pokeballs, so if she caught the starly she would have to buy more. It was all being part of a trainer though wasn't it. She watched closely as ponyta talked to the pokemon.
::ponyta:: Gives half the berry to starly eats the other half.

The Starly snarled. <I don't want half! You stole my berry!> Flapping her wings she went in for a tackle at the Ponyta. She wasn't going to let anyone takes things that was rightfully hers! That was her berry to begin with and she was going to make sure it was going to stay that way! Charging at the Ponyta with Tackle she aimmed for her target, and not letting it flee out of her sight.

Ghost needed some training, they really didn't need a new member anyway. The ponyta smiled greatly as the starly charged at her. "Use tackle" She heard Rivaxorus say, gladly she would. Ghost dodged barley almost loosing her footing straight after she neighed and charged the pokemon her flames blazing as she ran.

Starly wouldn't have this. No she would not. Being hit, she crashed to the ground, but got up. <You watch, you're going to lose!> A threat that could easily be held, in her opinion.
Seen only as a blur, Starly moved quicky, trying to ram into the fire Pokémon's side. No way she was going down without a fight.

Ghost had not been training much, so she was a bit rusty when it came to dodging. Maybe they would have to work on that after this fight. As the starly charged toward her and began to be just a blur the ponyta had no idea when it would strike. She tried to dodge but instead toppled over herself as the quick attack hit her. She was not going to this fight though, she was a strong fire type and she was going to win. "Ghost, charge and use tackle" Rivaxorus yelled. Charge, was another way of saying doing something that would be unexpected. Ghost charged, careful, waiting for the starly to jump and fly higher.
::ponyta:: Charges, about to use tackle.

Seeing the Fire-type charge toward her, the Starly cheeped in fright and fluttered backward slightly in surprise. She didn't see how she'd be able to avoid being trampled, but at the same time, she didn't want to just sit here looking helpless. She wasn't thinking about the berry now, seeing that her mind had become hard-wired to winning the battle instead. It was hard for the little bird to focus on more than one thing at once.
Seeing that she didn't think she'd be able to dodge, the little bird flared her wings in an attempt to look bigger, which didn't really work out that well. After this was done, she gave what she hoped was a fearsome Growl, but it ended up coming out as more of a cute little squeak.
Well... at least she tried?
The Tackle hit at that moment, and she was blasted backward. Getting back to her feet unsteadily, she frowned and attempted to hit her her opponent in return.
::starly:: Hit by Tackle! Used Growl and Quick Attack!

Ghost ignored the growl, it was like it never came to her ears. She watched as the starly used quick attack once more. Ghost dodged quickly and tried to tackle the starly again. Hopefully, she would defeat this starly. Yet it seemed like how closely Rivaxorus was watching she planned on catching it. Ghost wanted to make sure the starly fainted before she had a chance to catch it.
::ponyta:: Uses tackle.

Thrown back by the larger Pokemon, Starly chirped in pain. Ow ow ow! All she had wanted was a berry to sustain herself, and now this Trainer and his Pokemon had the gall to respond to her attacks! As far as she was concerned, she had every right to beat the crap out of this Ponyta, and the Ponyta had absolutely no right to defend itself. It had earned a beating, and a beating it would get! With another failure of a Growl escaping her throat, she decided it was time to put some speed into her attacks. Her form became a blur as she rushed towards the Ponyta, beak pointed at the fire horse's face. ::starly:: Starly used Growl and Quick Attack. Starly is weakening.

Ghost was getting over confident of herself, suddenly her body was rammed and she fell backwards. Her flank suddenly covered with dirt. She got up and shook off the dusty dirt and snorted. On her own account charged the starly once more, even though her legs hurt.

It was getting to be too much. The joy, her agog demeanor at finally finding food. The sudden disappointment as the berry was taken before the Starly’s very eyes. The truculent defeat creeping across her eyes as the Ponyta rushed forward and slammed its fiery body against the starving bird. She felt as though she saw her life flash before her eyes in that moment where there was nothing but pain -- and even that was dulled by the scenes playing out in the bird’s tired and hurt mind. So hungry. So much hurt.
Without so much as a chirp of dismay, the Starly collapsed in a heap on the ground. Beside her limp body was the half-eaten berry. So close, yet so very far away.
::starly:: Starly has fainted. Ghost gains one level. Attempt capture?

Ghost sat down tired from the battle. This starly was strong, but she had defeated it and she somehow felt stronger. Rivaxorus started to walk forward towards the starly. Ghost watched as her trainer crouched near the starly. "Your strong, you stood up for just a simple berry" Rivaxorus said with a smile. She picked up the half of the berry that just stood there. Then she looked at one of her pokeballs. An empty one at that, "It's really your choice" Rivaxorus said. Putting the Berry right next to the small pokemon. "I can make you stronger, where you can become stronger then you will ever know." She told the pokemon. The starly was strong and Riv believed in it, now it was the starly's choice. Would she join her or just eat the berry and run.

Starly, being unconscious, could not hear a word Rivaxorus said, and continued lying motionless on the ground. She was so weak from hunger, and having been pummeled by a freaking pony, that it would be quite some time before she awoke. Unfortunately, she was in no condition to make a choice at the moment. Her fate was entirely up to the trainer who had defeated her.
Something must have drifted into the Starly's mind, however, from the speech. Even her exhausted state was unable to forfend itself from what was going on around her. Quietly, weakly, the bird mumbled something that sounded a lot like <Stronger...>
ooc|| I SWEAR I WILL MURDER THIS FLY IF IT LANDS ON ME ONE MORE TIME. HOW DID IT GET IN MY ROOM.

Rivaxorus sighed, the starly was completely knocked out. She took her pokeball out and tried to capture the starly. She would make the pokemon stronger, no matter what. She was a trainer that bonded with her pokemon.

When the ball closed around her, the Starly became meekly aware of what was going on. Was the trainer trying to capture her? She remembered something, very vaguely, about promises to get stronger. With this in her mind, the small bird sighed and offered no resistance against the red and white capsule. Better to battle and become stronger than to be knocked out all of the time by trainers passing through, right?
The ball stilled, but right before it made the ping to signify a successful capture, the Pokémon inside having lulled herself back into a state of unconsciousness, it broke open. It was quite obvious that Starly had not been the culprit of the failed capture, considering she'd been expelled from the object in a mess of unconscious feathers.
The ball sparked, revealing the problem.
Drat.
Capture has failed. Try again?

Rivaxorus snapped her fingers with a whisper of a drat as ghost walked over. "This blackout is effecting all of the area" Riv said trying to catch the starly once more. Hopefully this time she would be able to catch her. Otherwise, she wouldn't be able to well catch her.

- As the Pokeball crackled over the Starly's paralyzed, motionless body, the capsule opened up. At first weakly before coming in with even more power, absorbing the bird within its contents. Letting out a weak, pleading cry to allow its escape, the Pokeball snapped shut wordlessly.
- The sphere then began to rock back and forth, with the Starly within it trying to forfend her freedom. She slammed into the top of the Pokeball, nearly forcing it open before dangerous sparks held her back. It harmed her. She whimpered as she retreated to the center of the sphere, watching silently as her capture was complete.
You get:
Starly Gender: Female Ability: Keen Eye Level: 6 Attacks: Tackle, Growl, Quick Attack
Also. If you didn't already do so, Ghost gained a level.
