It was getting cold. He hadn't realized it back at the Ranger Station, but it was really getting cold. He held his right hand to his left shoulder and vice versa, trying to force some heat into his body. It didn't do much, but it would keep him from freezing over for now.
This was what a lack of exercise did. Left him unable to even weather a little cold. Winter would set in soon, and he had doubts that he could cross the region in that time.
Well, there was no need for him to suffer alone. "Alright you," he looked at a bulge in his coat pocket. The Skorupi poked its head from the coat pocket and tilted it, looking curiously at Alex, who sighed, resisting the urge to facepalm. "Out of the pocket, bug. You're walking."
The Skorupi clicked in irritation, waving his pincers in what was apparently a plea. "Don't bother acting cute. You. Are. Walking."
The Skorupi let out one last, loud click and leapt from his pocket with such surprising strength that Alex was nearly hurled to the ground, his coat ripping with a tremendous tearing sound, the flap that had once been a pocket now hanging over his jeans.
"Oh for the love of... what am I going to do with you?" he asked in exasperation, but the Skorupi had no answer, or at least no answer he could very well understand.
Ripping the ruined pocket off and tossing it into the grass, he folded his arms. "Alright. Keep walking."

::woobat:: Level: 4 Gender: female Attacks: Confusion, Odor Sleuth Abilities: Klutz + Unaware Personality: Very derpy; she tends to fly with her eyes closed all the time, but this results in her crashing into things all the time. Tends to think she is a failure.
Flying just above Alex was a light blue, saggy pokemon with dark, small pointy wings on each side, who was whistling as she flew in the sky. The Woobat had no idea what the tune was or where it had come from. But she had heard it once while she was flying, and since then it had stuck in her mind. Just as the woobat was getting to the best part of the tune, she crashed into one of the trees and fell to the ground. She tried to use use her wings to stop her fall and keep her in the air, but that came to no avail and she crashed to the floor. "Oh god, I'm such a failure." the woobat cried, tears making their way to her eyes. "I can't even stop myself from falling as well." she said, covering up her face with her wings, not wanting anyone to help her at all. "I'm such a failure. I don't deserve these wings." she said, whilst crying her eyes out. Want to help the woobat?

As Alex was making his way along the dirt trail, the sounds of something flying in the sky made its way to his ears. It was a rather serene, calm sound, only adding to the feeling of peace Alex felt in this place.
This feeling was not something that was normal to Alex, and so he didn't know that what he was feeling was peace. Tension and worry were usually his primary emotions, and he couldn't quite tell what these emotions were.
And then the sound stopped, as with a crash, something blue and furry fell from a nearby cluster of trees, and then a series of squeaking and tears were visible and audible. Alex felt himself wince inwardly for the health of the creature, but he couldn't help but feel irritated at its tears. It was such a silly thing to cry over.
"Hey," he addressed the bat like furball. "What are you crying over? Just cos you fell? That's pretty stupid, don't ya think?" Behind him, his Skorupi was calmly observing, not quite sure how to deal with wild Pokemon, having spent his short, rather uneventful life at the Ranger Station with his parent Drapion.

::woobat:: Pokemon encounter ! The Woobat continued to sniffle even as a voice asked her why she was crying, but she quieted a bit, feeling just a bit of satisfaction that someone was actually listening to her. Hearing that crying over it was pretty stupid, she nodded her head. <Yeah, it is pretty stupid. So fitting for a stupid little thing like me, right?> Her eyes filled with tears when she spoke, causing her to blink them away. Her fur was pretty much matted with tears and dirt now.
<Laugh at me! Laugh at stupid me! Everyone else does..> The bat cried out in desperation, continuing to sob. ::woobat:: Level: 4 Gender: female Attacks: Confusion, Odor Sleuth Abilities: Klutz + Unaware Personality: Very derpy; she tends to fly with her eyes closed all the time, but this results in her crashing into things all the time. Geez. This Woobat had some pretty serious crybaby tendencies. She was covered in dirt and tears now, and Alex once again had to resist the urge to facepalm. "OK, look." he said as firmly as possible, then decided to lapse into a gentler tone. "First, let's get you off the ground, huh? It's cold and you should keep moving." He tried for a smile at the crying Pokemon, but didn't quite manage it. Skorupi trotted forward, prodding Alex, whose eyes fell on the little Pokemon. >Let me try, let me try,< he clicked loudly, and Alex sighed, closed his eyes in frustration, and moved aside as his Skorupi shuffled forward. >I wanna be the very best, like no one ever was. DUN DUN DUN!< shrieked the Skorupi, waving his claws in the Woobat's face. Alex's eyes widened at his Pokemon's attempt at "comfort." For the love of God.... this would not end well. ::skorupi:: Level 5 | Gender: Male Attacks: Bite, Poison Sting, Leer, Twineedle* Abilities: Battle Armor, Sniper Personality: Always running head first into action. Pokemon encounter ! The Woobat looked up again at the human, who had now become gentler than before. His tone comforted her even a little. She was about to obey his words when suddenly, the trainer's Pokémon took matters into his own hands. The Skorupi's looks were threatening, but the bat could tell that he meant no harm.
Suddenly, he sung the tune that had, long ago, motivated her to continue her life despite her failure as a Pokémon. Hearing it now, she could feel her heart warming. <To catch them is my real test, to train them is my cause!> Her voice was lovely, almost like a Chatot's whistle. It was the only trait of hers that set her apart from other Woobats.
But what good was a beautiful voice to her when she couldn't even fly?

Huh? An eyebrow of Alex's perked as he watched the Woobat, rather than shy away in fear, actually join his Skorupi in song. Well, her voice was much more melodic than his Skorupi's, so he didn't really feel too strongly against it. Sitting down against the trunk of the next tree over, he decided to let his Pokémon deal with the Woobat. She seemed to prefer him anyway. Skorupi clicked in happiness. >Wow! You're really smart! Maybe someday you can become number two! Because I'll always be number one of course.< Preening himself with his pincers for a brief second, he waved them at Woobat again. >I know! You can be a main force with me!<Alex, leaning against the tree trunk, raised a brow at that. Main force...the Skorupi had said it before, so it wasn't like he was surprised, but still, he had to wonder. What the fuck was a main force? ::skorupi::

Tends to think she is a failure. Has a beautiful voice. The Woobat was glad that the pokemon and trainer had cheered her up; if they had left her alone, she would of been in a dark mood for a while. However, she was a bit miffed when the bug type said that she would be number 2 as it would always be number one. However, she was curious when the skorupi said main force. It was a term she had never heard before, but it sounded good. "You know, that sounds like a really a good idea." the woobat said, giving a smile. "But what do you mean when you say 'main force'? I've never heard of that before." she said, tilting her head to the side.

>Well...uh...< Skorupi blinked. Now that he had time to think about it, he really didn't know what a main force was. His older brother had heard it from their dad, who had heard it from his mother. He wasn't quite sure what it was.
>Well,< he said after a second. >To me, it's being strong enough that you don't have to worry about anything. If you're the strongest thing in the world, nothing can hurt you, right?<
Alex grimaced bitterly at the Skorupi's statement. How innocent he was. Unable to even comprehend that there was more than his naive black and white idealism.
Heh. Main force, huh?

The Woobat seemed to have cheered up with what the Skorupi said, despite it not making the most sense in the world. It was empowering enough for her to stop her sniffling and fly a little straighter for a change. She felt like she could maybe open her eyes for once, but instead she used her somewhat average echolocation, squeaking to fly around the Skorupi in excited circles.
<Oh, you're such a good speaker. I could just touch the clouds!> She giggled very girlishly, glad that someone cared enough about her in a way that wasn't as harsh and blunt as the Skorupi's trainer. However, she collided into a tree again. Ow.
<Ha..ha uh...still ok!> She mumbled, spitting out some of her fur that got stuck in her mouth. That was a weird feeling, but the small pain from crashing overwhelmed it. <The main force sounds awesome!> She added, trying to show her enthusiasm despite being such a klutz.

The Skorupi himself was getting excited now, even though he had known about this main force for most of his short life. Seeing someone else get so heated up about it was making him feel excited too, and he didn't even see the Woobat crash into the tree again.
After the Skorupi faced him with a series of clicks, Alex walked over, understanding that the Woobat wanted to become a "main force."
Taking a red and white sphere from his pocket, he placed it on the ground. "Hop in, if you want," he said bluntly.

Woobat made a really happy squeal as she dove towards the pokeball. The Skorupi's words still resonated in her. Being a main force? Did she really have a chance of being one? She felt extremely excited as she flew directly into the pokeball. A red light appeared and pulled her in as the red and white sphere opened up, and closed. It shook a couple of times, before sitting still. A loud chime made it clear that the bat pokemon was officially caught. ::Woobat:: Level: 4 Gender: female Attacks: Confusion, Odor Sleuth Abilities: Klutz + Unaware Personality: Very derpy; she tends to fly with her eyes closed all the time, but this results in her crashing into things all the time.
