Syl sat cross-legged beside the fire. It was nearly dusk and the team death leader was irritated. He whipped out his flask and took a large swig, reeling back in disgust. "Remind me to kill Bob, or whatever his name is," he was referring to his assistant Don, but he never could remember the man's name. It didn't matter. Nothing mattered on a night like this.
He stretched out beneath the stars, arms pillowed behind his head. Red hair spilled out behind him, curling this way and that. He was a sight to behold, pale and beautiful under the moonlight. Too bad his personality was lacking.
But was it? His mesprit, Sen, hovered above him and wagged her tails. <Why are you looking at the sky like that?> she asked him softly.
He didn't answer right away. No, it was too complicated. "It's none of your business," he finally said. Bitch got told.

Maria stretched and yawned, the yawn reflecting her boredom. Why on earth she had even agreed to come out here was unknown to her. Zuzu had said he wanted to go so she had humored him and said okay. She had recently given the flying/poison type a special gift. A shiny orb she had recieved for absolutely no reason. It was silly to think that something so small and unsignificant could turn her Zubat into something even more amazing. It was ridiculous that she was closer to this Pokemon than the one she had started with. Then again she hadn't seen her starter Pokemon in awhile due to the fact that it had been in the daycare. Still, she was promised that she would get it back and she was going to make sure that the promise was kept.
The rising moon reflected slightly in her pale colored eyes as she tried to figure out why the hell she was even here. "Why are we here Zuzu? There's nothing to do here at night!" The Zubat shrugged and seemed to stare over into the distance. <If you're so bored I think that there is someone over there! Why don't you go see?>
Maria sighed and wondered how the Zubat could even tell that without any eyes. It was ridiculous honestly. She made her way towards what could have been either a man or a woman, she couldn't tell until she got closer. It was a guy... Looked like the one that had been at recruitment and the one that Shamu had told her was a drunken slut. Well, she did want interesting right? The Mesprit had to be his Pokemon, no doubt about it. They sort of matched all red like that. Then again she sort of matched Zuzu too, all green. Pulling her hair over her shoulder she simply sat down next to him. He was just laying there, for all she knew he had died or something.

Syl didn't notice her at first. No, he was too busy focusing on his thoughts. How he hated that guy Blaze. God, what a tool. Contrary to popular belief, Syl wasn't an idiot. He knew Blaze had an eye for Team Death and the spot of leader. He wanted to overthrow him. Syl had Sen and a handful of other strong Pokémon for now, but Blaze would become stronger. The battle for dominance was imminent and he knew it.
He felt something brush against his arm and he jumped. "Oh christ, what are you... Oh hey you're that girl," in his drunken haze he remembered her from the cresselia cup. The same beautiful face that smiled at him then was here beside him. How'd she get there, anyway? He was in an out of the way location, someplace he thought was only his. Apparently she came there, too.
His fingers touched hers and he painted on a sly grin. "What brings you out here tonight?"
Sen rolled her eyes and hovered beside Zuzu. <Trainers are dumb.> she said in her psychic voice, masking it so the two humans couldn't hear her.

Maria didn't jump as she watched the redhead realize she was there. For a moment he seemed like he was deep in thought, something she wouldn't have expected from someone who was just an achoholic and a slut. Maybe there was more to the TD leader than Shamu had told her. Then again, she could be wrong. She had the problem of seeing good in people when there wasn't any. Still, his fingers brushed hers and she knew what he was after even if she was just a stranger. He was pretty alright, but she wasn't stupid like she led some to believe. "Zuzu wanted to come for a walk and Zuzu spotted you over here so I thought I would make sure you weren't dead or something. Its awfully silly to be out here alone anyways."
Absentmindedly she flipped his hand over and traced over the lines. It was a habit she had from before she could remember. She didn't know why she did it, she just couldn't stop herself from doing it. All the while she thought of the other guy at the recruitment. She didn't like Blaze. She didn't know what it was but there was something wrong about him through and through. Zuzu however was freaking out as he thought carefully. <You are totally in my head right now... That is so weird... But yeah trainers are dumb, especially mine. She was specifically told not to be anywhere unsupervised with that guy and here she is!>
Maria didn't even notice that her Zubat had gone silent, instead she felt a slightly melencholy feeling in her heart. It was all because of her stupid past. And Blaze. She hated fire and that guy, not even just his name made her sick.

Syl was stunned by the sudden contact. He couldn't help but feel his heart skip a beat when Maria grabbed his hand so forcefully. Shit, usually he was the one to do that! He debated what to do. On one hand, he could probably have this girl. She'd looked at him in a very specific way back at the stadium. He hated to admit it but it had been so long since he'd been with anybody. His feelings were a mystery, even to him. He had no idea who he liked and people had long ceased to show any interest in the aging play boy. He had money, he had looks, he had the house but he was losing favor. He had retreated from the public eye. A mistake perhaps, but he didn't care. He was becoming more and more reclusive by the day.
"Zuzu is your zubat I assume? Filthy creatures," he lied, trying to keep his erection in check. "I had a crobat once, all it gave me was flying lessons and lice. Sickening." in all actuality he loved that crobat, just as he loved his mesprit. He would never admit it to anybody but it was the truth. He allowed a tight smile to form on his pale face. "A girl like you isn't afraid to show her face at such an hour? There are deviants around, who knows what kind of depraved pervert might be lurking in the night," he breathed, fingers curling around hers.
Sen didn't say anything. All of her energy was focused on not throwing up. Her trainer was insatiable.

Maria couldn't help but give a small laugh. Zubats? Disgusting? It was something she heard often but she never got tired of it. They weren't disgusting, just numerous and frustrating to some people. She actually had two of them herself, both of them very loved. She took her free hand and tapped Syl once on the forehead and then once on the nose. "You're such a liar, the Zubat line can't carry lice and besides, everyone knows the only way for guys to get rid of lice is to cut their hair, yours is way too long for something like that. And the fact that you said it was a Crobat meant that the two of you had to get along rather well considering its based on the friendship between the pair."
She gave him a quick smile. He was at least fun to poke fun at. That was a plus. Shamu had to be wrong about there only being two sides to him, right? He wasn't stupid, he couldn't be. Zuzu was confused... Wasn't the red haired man the sexual deviant they had been warned about anyways? Why was he telling Maria to watch out if he was the one they were supposed to be watching out for? None of it made any sense to the shiny bat. Not at all. And why was his trainer looking at the guy like that anyways? She didn't know him and they weren't friends... Humans were complicated.
"If I was afraid of sexual predators then I wouldn't have stopped here to see if you still had something resembling a pulse. Then again I've been told you don't have much of a heart so there really isn't any telling with you is there?" She smiled, the tone in her voice was light and she was joking, something she hardly did anymore honestly.

Syl paused. Nobody talked to him like that and lived, but she was a female, and a pretty one at that. "Well my crobat gave my other pokemon parasites, it was so gross. I was combing them all for a week," he said slowly, making sure to meet her gaze. He couldn't figure her out. What the hell was she trying to pull, anyway? She didn't look like a leech who just wanted his money.
He ran his free hand through his mess of crimson hair and sighed. "Do I have a pulse? Feel free to check," he mumbled, making a motion towards his pants. "I've heard the strongest heartbeat can be felt in the groin."

Maria met Syl's gaze rather easily, even if on his part it seemed a little forced. He had a pretty high guard, that was for sure. She had gotten used to talking to Raff and Sam, both of them becoming friends with her rather easily, then again this was a different situation and a very different person. It wasn't hard to tell what he wanted from her, mainly because that was all she had been told about him. Men, women, it didn't matter to him. Maria wondered why. It was something to sleep with everyone and for it to become something of a lifestyle, another thing for it to be the only thing anyone said about you when you were a leader in an organization like TD. "Your eyes are pretty, but they don't shine as much as the first day we met. I suppose theres some reason for that but its a pity, you'll get wrinkles if you keep this up."
She knew that this was a very dangerous game she was playing. If he wanted, Syl could probably kill her. Maria knew that he could at least hurt her, especially with how she was talking to him. She had been told to show him respect when she met him but it seemed like she wasn't cut out to do that. It didn't faze her when he motioned to his groin at all. He wasn't very happy with her statement yet she wouldn't take it back even if she could. The reaction made him look human for a moment, something she was glad to have seen. It made her feel better about actually saying it. It made it worth it. "Come on now Syl, or should I call you Sir? Weren't you just warning me about perverts a minute ago? I know you have a pulse, if you didn't, your hand wouldn't be so warm after all." She took one of his hands in both of hers and smiled.
Zuzu stared and tried to direct his thoughts to the Mesprit so his trainer wouldn't hear. <What. The. Hell. Is. Going. On?>

He didn't answer right away. Instead he chuckled and took another swig from his flask. He would have offered it to her if he would have thought of it, but thinking of others wasn't Syl's strong suit. His breath was on fire with expensive vodka, vision hazy. He felt like he could take on the world.
"Sir isn't needed. Nobody calls me sir. Except Bob," Truthfully Don only called him 'sir' out of fear. Syl was once a very powerful trainer. Unfortunately the allure of girls, money and drugs had corrupted him. He was a shadow of his former self.
Sen giggled, using one of the broad flat jeweled ends of her tails to cover her mouth. <My trainer gets a little frisky when he's been drinking. He's kind of a sad sack you know~!> she chirped to Zuzu.
Syl could feel the warmth of her hands and it made him grin, lopsided and toothy. "You don't seem like the type of person Blaze would recruit. I mean, you're female and all. And you're not brooding and serious. Blaze needs to get laid," nobody could accuse Syl of not speaking his mind. He sighed and took another swig.

Maria laughed, a little louder than before but completely geniune. Who the hell knew anyone named Bob in real life anyways? It always seemed to be such a fake name. Hell, for all she knew it could be a fake name for a completely fake person, but who was she to judge, she wasn't even sure Maria was her real name after all. It was just what came to her first. There was no denying that Syl was interesting, thats for sure. "Well then, my name is Maria. Not sure that you'll remember it but at least its something."
For some reason she just couldn't help but let the smart ass remarks pop out of her mouth tonight. Maybe she had an internal death wish or something? It seemed likely, she switched moods like a ditto switched forms. Some people even called her a little unstable. It wasn't something she was unused to, after all, nobody really knew her anyways. Sure Raff and Sam were her friends but they didn't know her any better now than the first time they had met honestly.
At the mention of Blaze her face contorted into a scowl for the first time in the entire night. And the evening was so lovely too. What a perfectly good way to ruin it by bringing him up. Maria hadn't looked at the fire the entire time she had been sitting there and avoided looking at it as she laid down on the ground, her fingers still tangled in Syl's. "Well. If getting laid was Blaze's only problem then I don't think I would hate him as much. I don't think he even cared who he recruited as long as he got more people. I mean come on, he was willing to consider that prick Keith after all."
Zuzu understood why Syl was acting the way he was, just not why his trainer was. She didn't like being around males like Syl usually. <Did he use attract on my trainer?>

Syl let out a slow laugh. Keith. That fucking tool. "Keith isn't a concern anymore. Let's just say I spent a lot of money having him personally removed from Cheyenne," Syl said cryptically, finally offering her the flask. "Maria. I've heard that name before, haven't I?"
He couldn't place her face. He inched closer, squinting to get a better look. Soft features, nice hair, something sinister, untouchable. She reminded him of himself but in a way that made him feel odd. Face twisted into a scowl as certain thoughts crossed his normally empty mind. How stupid it all seemed, how pointless. The rat race that was his life. "Blaze doesn't know anything. He thinks he's hot shit, the man in charge. Even Bob could take care of him."
Sen recognized the stupid look on her trainer's face and sighed. This was going to end badly.

Maria felt herself shrug in a nonchalant manner. Her name was a rather common one, probably part of the reason she had chosen it, that is if it wasn't her real name. It honestly could be the only thing that she had from her past life. Not that she remembered any of it either. "My name is pretty common, you've probably screwed at least ten girls with that name. At least." She took the flask, not unaccustomed to alcohol and not unaccustomed to drinking after other people. Then again who knew how many STD's Syl probably had? Who cared anyways? Healthcare was free. She took a drink, the taste of his lips mixing with hers. It wasn't something at all unpleasant. She wondered if it would taste the same if she kissed him.
"So that's why your eyes are so dull? Someone having a little stress at work then? Don't worry, I'm pretty sure you can kick Blaze's ass. Then again makes you wonder why he wanted to do the recruiting alone doesn't it? Don't worry though, I'm sure a bunch of people would fight for you if it came to it."
He was closer to her now, as if he was trying to figure her out. What was it that he thought he saw? After all, she was nobody, especially compared to him. Sitting up and smiling at him she use his shoulder to prop herself up, her back leaning on him as she twirled some of her hair between her fingers. She couldn't tell if she liked the way he stared at her, or if she was afraid of it. Taking another sip she passed the flask back to him, wondering if he would taste her on it as she did him.

He didn't respond right away, taking back the flask and drinking. It was nearly gone now. Squinting, he tried to judge how much was left. Not nearly enough. It was never enough.
Then he grinned, turning to Maria. "I don't really want to talk about me. Let's talk about you. Where are you from?" he asked, words slightly slurred now. Syl couldn't see much of anything anymore, save for the faint fuzzy outlines of her face. He giggled, flopping backwards onto the ground and pillowing his arms behind his head. "Fuuuuuuuuuuuuck I'm drunk!"

Maria took the flask from Syl and took another drink, not waiting for an offer or invitation. Did it really matter at this point anyways? It seemed as though she was at a standstill. He was too drunk to talk seriously and she was almost too drunk to care. She giggled as he flopped down on the ground and stated the obvious. If he wasn't drunk then this would all be somewhat odd after all. Did she want to talk about herself? Normally no, but Syl probably wouldn't remember anything in the morning anyways and she the same. Unless he was one of those weird clarity drunks. Anyways that didn't matter now. She scooted over him and placed her head on his stomach, laying down on the ground as well. "Well, letsee what we know about Maria. I don't know where I'm from, u don't know who my parents were and I don't know why I have all these scars. I'm also not sure why I'm terrified of fire and why I have amnesia... But I'm sure it was nothing related to anything traumatic right? Anyway that's all I know about me. So now you know everything I know..."
She rolled over closer to Syl's face smiling and she propped up. Suddenly she had the best idea ever. There were absolutely no better ideas than this... At least in her mind. She leaned in real close, suddenly standing up and holding her hand out to Syl to help him up. "Here, get up for a minute. I have the best idea ever."
