Maria ran her hands through her hair. She was considering cutting the almost knee length locks in order to make things a little easier while traveling. She loved her hair long but it was really getting to be an inconvenience. It got tangled up in branches and leaves got caught in it so easily that it was ridiculous. Still, that didn't stop her from climbing up this tree and didn't stop her from sitting on the highest branch she could reach. If it was physically possible for her to do so she would go higher. But she was already at the crown of the tree, any higher and the branched might break from her weight. Not that she was fat or anything, they were just really thin.
She wasn't quite sure why she had decided to come to the park today... Her Pokemon were all snug inside their Pokeballs which were in her messenger bag. She never left that bag laying around, today being no exception. It fit snugly around her shoulder, hanging by her waist. The tree creaked a little as she stood on the branch, walking a little ways out. To someone who didn't know her it looked as if she was going to jump. Notes: Open to anyone! OUTFIT!

ooc: hope you don't mind me jumping in. c:
This was one of the many times Celia really regretted her condition. Namely, her inability to shout without sounding like a banshee.
As it was, though, all she could do now was stumble half-blind around the bright, happy park, all the while tripping over grass and air and her own feet. Her light-sensitive eyes tried to scan as much of the area as they could, and she repeatedly whispered Vincent's name as if he could somehow hear her over all the ambient noise of the park. She wasn't quite sure what all this would do to help her locate her missing Pidgey, but the alternative was standing around and waiting for something else to happen. Panic overruled that decision in record time.
Meanwhile, hiding up in a tree, a certain Pidgey was celebrating. <"Fi-na-lly!"> Vincent crowed, ruffling his tail feathers arrogantly as he weaved swiftly around the branches. That girl and her hideously fat Miltank would never find him up here! He had managed to get away from his pesky human—
<"GACK!"> And crashed straight into another one.
Of course, Vincent wasn't about to admit that he'd just crashed. Oh no, not a chance. <"What's your problem?"> he snapped at the girl standing on a branch, with whom he had just collided. He conveniently ignored the fact that it was him who had crashed into her. He also happened to forget that not all humans might understand Pokémon speech, and so he appeared to be a lost, agitated little bird... which was a fairly accurate description, really.

She hadn't even seen the Pidgey coming, much less been able to prepare herself for the fact that she had been crashed into in a very high tree at the moment she was balancing on a very peculiar shaped branch. At least she caught herself for the most part. As her body tumbled over her arms and hands clamored to get a grip on the situation, and the branch itself before she fell to the ground. The rough bark hurt her hands but at least it was better than falling to her death.
"Pidgey... I think you should watch where you're going. You are obviously the one at fault in this situation and if it wasn't for the fact that I'm trying to hold on for my life then I would probably boop you on the beak or something. You wouldn't be able to call for help or anything would you? I'm not quite sure how long I can hold myself like this..."
It was true, she may have been able to stop herself from falling for now but if forced to stay like this much longer she might not make it. The branch below her feet dangled out of her reach and it was far to dangerous for her to try and drop down to it. Notes: Yay whismur! OUTFIT!

Ah, crap. Even Vincent felt the tiniest inkling of guilt when the girl suddenly toppled over and was left hanging by her bare hands off a branch, several metres off the ground. That fall wasn't going to be very nice.
Whatever Vincent was expecting next, a pep talk wasn't one of them. Her politeness about it all only threw him off even more. The girl sounded exactly like Rue, for Giratina's sake! But before the Pidgey could come back with a juvenile intelligent, snappy remark, the girl requested that he get some help before she fell to her doom (or at least a great deal of pain).
Not wanting to risk being beaten up, either by a certain Miltank or that Miltank's apparent human counterpart, Vincent grudgingly flew off again and scanned the park, looking for Celia. It didn't take long to locate the little Pokémorph running around the grass like a panicked idiot, and Vincent flew down to his trainer and began hustling her in the direction of the tree. <"Hurry up!"> he said impatiently as Celia stumbled along with him, her expression completely baffled. <"Hurry up, damn it! Geez, I can't believe I have such a Slowpoke like you for a trainer!">
When they reached the tree, Vincent landed on a low branch and ruffled his feathers. <"So there's a girl up there, and she's gonna fall if you don't do some heroic rescue shit soon."> And with that, the Pidgey got settled to watch and be of no help whatsoever. His job was done.
Meanwhile, Celia hadn't the faintest clue what to do. She could just barely see the girl in the tree through her squinty vision. Going up there was out of the question. She couldn't climb trees; even her Whismur side did nothing to help. Get someone else? The prospect terrified her. Shout for help? Obviously not. Bring Rue or Conrad out? But what could they do? Neither of them could climb either. Catch the girl when she fell? ... It wasn't the most pleasant option, but Celia couldn't think of anything else that she could do.
She stiffly reached out her arms and waited for the girl to drop. Her strength might be useful in this situation... but Celia was still a very small girl. How she was going to avoid getting squished... well, she hadn't thought that far ahead yet.

Maria could see the Pidgey fly off in what she hoped was an attempt to get her some help. She could just barely make out the form of what looked to be a girl holding her arms out. Was she seriously going to try and catch her from this height? She would be crushed! Biting her lip she had a quick idea that hopefully wouldn't get her killed in the process. If she could drop her bag then maybe the girl could release Zuzu from his Pokeball and maybe he would be able to slow the fall a little bit.
Biting at the straps that tied the bag to her shoulder she winced as it fell to the ground and landed in front of the girl. How she hoped that everything inside hadn't been broken. Now how to get the message to the girl that she wanted her to let out one of her Pokemon.
"HEY! YOU DOWN THERE! LOOK FOR THE BALL WITH THE BAT IN IT! HE'LL HELP OUT SOME. I DON'T WANT TO SQUISH YOU SO LET'S SAVE YOUR IDEA FOR LAST!"
Hopefully she would be able to understand what she was saying all the way down there. Maria tightened her grip on the branch, adjusting her hands slightly so that she could hold on better. Her arms were so tired... Notes: Feel free to let out any other Pokemon in her party as she is digging for Zuzu. Just click the link to her PC to see the rest. Treecko is in the daycare though so not her. OUTFIT!

Something was falling down from the tree, and Celia braced herself to catch it—but she missed. Her fingers just barely brushed the object, which landed with a heavy thump on the grass in front of her. Oops.
At least it wasn't a person. Upon closer inspection, it seemed to be a bag that had dropped down instead, which confused Celia until the girl's voice shouted a command from above: "LOOK FOR THE BALL WITH THE BAT IN IT!" And then something about squishing her. Celia blushed a little; now that the girl mentioned it, that possibility had never occurred to her. Yeah, maybe she should have thought out her plan a little more.
Celia groped blindly around the contents of the bag and managed to locate the shiny Pokéballs inside, then hastily grabbed one and threw it to the ground with maybe a bit too much force. Out came a pink cherry with two heads. Okay, definitely not. From the next Pokéball Celia seized, a fat Christmas-coloured bug thing appeared—clearly not a bat either.
Ignoring the two Pokémon she had released, Celia frantically dug for a third Pokéball, but thankfully this seemed to be the right one: a purple bat appeared in front of her in a flash of light. It was a bat like the girl had said, but Celia had no idea how the tiny creature would be able to help her down from the tree. Maybe it had some kind of super special powers, she thought wildly?

Maria silently cheered as her Zubat was finally released and he looked about to find her. He would know what to do for sure. All he needed to do was release Stings and the plan would be complete. Ciel however, looked distressed. The little cherry Pokemon had tears in his eyes as he saw where his mommy was. He started jumping up and down, his tiny leaves reaching up to the tree. <Momma! Momma! Momma!> His voice was distressed for sure.
The shiny Venipede Vaine crawled over to the bag, knowing his part in the entire thing and releasing the Kakuna from his Pokeball as well. It would be necessary for him to use String Shot under the tree. He made a web of sorts, strong enough to catch Maria when she fell but pliable enough not to hurt her. It was a routine they had been working on for quite sometime and they had never thought that they would be using it quite like this. Zuzu now knew his part. It was a risky move that he wasn't one hundred percent sure he could pull off without hurting himself but he knew that he wouldn't hurt Maria with it.
He flew up high, his wings glowing and his body picking up speeds. With his new strength in using Brave Bird to pick up his trainer and lower her down to a height where she could be safely dropped on the String Shot net. The green haired girl held her breath as she fell, tucking her arms in close as she hit. If her arms stayed out then they could possibly break.
Zuzu pulled out of the attack before he hit the ground, still tired from having to exert so much force in such a little amount of time. He flapped weakly to the ground and waited for his trainer to get up from the net. Ciel was still bouncing up and down, this time with joy though. His mommy had been saved! Notes: And it's magic! Everything was moving so fast, all the Pokémon seemed to know exactly what to do, Celia was amazed but also so confused—
And then the girl finally fell down in a blur, supported by the bat thing and landing safely on a net of webbing that seemed to come out of nowhere. She didn’t even seem hurt at all! Celia could only stare at the girl and her Pokémon, bewildered and astonished by how well they worked together. (Or so it seemed anyway; Celia couldn’t actually see most of it.)
From his perch on the tree, Vincent was also astonished, but for a different reason. He flew down to be level with the Zubat, who didn’t make much of an impression on him at first, but after seeing him perform that stunt...
<”What was that?”> the Pidgey demanded to Zuzu, all sense of dignity lost as he flapped his wings around trying to imitate the Zubat’s Brave Bird maneuver. It seemed like a dangerously strong move. He wanted to learn to do that!

Maria sighed as she rolled out of the String Shot turned safety net. It wasn't everyday she got to do something like that and for that she was grateful. Still, her Pokemon had performed beautifully even without her telling them what to do, she was so proud! She cast her eyes around and they found the girl whom had saved her. She looked to be young, fifteen or sixteen maybe... But still a savior nonetheless. She would have to reward her somehow, maybe a trip to the Verona Ice Cream parlor on her, or the Cafe, whichever she preferred.
It wasn't like she was really lacking for money right now anyways. She kept having win after win somehow and her luck was rolling high, she might as well ride it as long as she could. Walking over to her she was then assaulted by the tiny cherry Pokemon that had decided she was it's mother, even if that was physically impossible. He bounced up and down, trying to get her to pick him up and when she finally did Ciel squealed with delight. <Momma safe! Momma safe!>
"Were you a big boy Ciel? Momma's so proud of you! My name is Maria, and I can't thank you enough... Even if it was your Pidgey that made me slip... Oh well it's nice to meet you anyways. I see you've met most of my team."
Zuzu however was trying to figure out a way to tell the Pidgey that he had learned the move special from a lady at the tournament grounds. He wasn't quite sure how he had learned it other than she had done something to him and he had practiced a lot for it. <Um. My trainer took me to get special training to learn it. I'm not sure I can teach it myself.> Notes: Yay friends! OUTFIT!

The parent-child-like relationship between the girl and her cherry thing was cute. Celia couldn't help envying her a little. Among herself and her own Pokémon, it was more like Rue taking care of the rest of them than anything... because clearly Celia couldn't exercise any control whatsoever over Vincent.
When the girl, Maria, commented that Vincent was the one who had caused the mess in the first place, the morph covered her mouth in mortification. "I-I'm sorry!" she whispered, bowing in apology. "So sorry... caught recently... can't control..." The rest of her words degenerated into an inaudible mumble. She wondered if there was anything she could do, or maybe buy, to make it up to Maria. Like a doll or something. Dolls were always adorable, weren't they?
Coughing lightly, she added in introduction, "Celia..." And then pointed up at the tree. "Vincent."
The Pidgey in question was thoroughly disappointed by Zuzu's response. <"Damn it,"> he grumbled. <"I wanna do something sick like that. Whaddya mean by 'special training'? Does it cost something? Where is it?">

The first thing on her mind when the little girl spoke was how adorable it was. Maria thought that she had to be the cutest little girl ever and wasn't going to hesitate to tell her so as well. She placed Ciel in the little pouch on her bag that usually held the little guy. He liked to ride around when Maria was traveling and who was she to stop him from it as long as he was learning as he went.
"Has anyone ever told you that you are just absolutely adorable? Because you are! My Zubat's name is Zuzu, the strange bug over there is Vaine and the little cherry guy is Ciel. It's nice to meet you! I'll have to make it up to you for helping me out back there. How about I treat you to ice cream or something sometime at the Ice Cream parlor in Verona? I'll buy you whatever you want to eat."
Zuzu was looking at the Pidgey weird. Why did it matter so much if he learned how to do the Brave Bird attack anyways? It was pretty dangerous and you could only use it a few times in battle. <Yeah it cost my trainer a good bit of money. But since you're a bird maybe you'll learn it naturally... Or something?> Notes: Yay friends! OUTFIT!

At Maria's comment about her supposed "cuteness", Celia blushed a very violent shade of pink and hid her face completely behind her sleeves. She knew that it was probably a compliment, but she couldn't help feeling a bit embarrassed... no idea why.
She mumbled something that sounded vaguely like "mmrph". And then, "Oh... no, you don't have to... my fault... it's on me?" The whole thing was her fault for not exercising enough control over Vincent, so she owed Maria. Sure, ice cream was just as good as a cute little doll from the mall... even better actually. (Not because she was scared of going into that huge, blindingly bright mall! No, n-not at all!)
Vincent ruffled his feathers indignantly at the look that Zuzu was giving him. The Zubat just didn't understand. A Pokémon as superb as him should be able to have equally superb, impressive attacks at his disposal! He didn't want to wait until he finally evolved into Pidgeot to show off!
<"Ah, crud,"> he grumbled. Now the challenge was to find this special training place was and convince Celia to pay up. On the other hand, Zuzu did have a point... maybe all he needed to do was wait, and maybe it would come on its own.
<"... But I don't wanna wait, damn it!"> Vincent whined, sounding remarkably like a baby.

From what Maria could hear from the little girl, she was trying to insist on paying. That wouldn't do at all. Maria was going to be the one to pay and that was final! Maybe there was a way to solve this...
"How about a practice battle then? Would that be okay? I promise I won't go all out or anything. Besides I bet you can use the training right?"
Zuzu was starting to get a little freaked out by the Pidgey... Maybe he should just tell him exactly where he got the training from. <You have to go to the tournament grounds for the Cresselia cup and talk to the move tutor there. She'll teach you any egg or tutor move for a price.> Notes: Yay friends! OUTFIT!

The topic of the conversation then randomly changed to battling: Maria was suddenly proposing a challenge to settle the matter of who was paying for ice cream. So she was a trainer too...? Celia supposed she should have known, seeing how many well-trained Pokémon she had.
Now it was a matter of deciding who should fight. Vincent seemed to be caught in a little argument up in his tree, and Celia doubted he’d listen to her in any case. She didn’t want to take responsibility for Rue squishing any of Maria’s Pokémon either (she’d heard enough complaints from Vincent, who had been through that unpleasant experience firsthand), so that left Conrad. The morph fumbled with the balls in her pocket and released her Nidoran, who blinked curiously around his sunny surroundings.
”Battle,” Celia explained shortly, and Conrad instinctively tensed up. Did he really have to...? He still hated violence with a passion, but he had made a promise to himself after that fiasco in the Trainer’s Lounge that he wouldn’t run away anymore. No more being scared. Celia had saved him from that awful pound, so he had to be able to save her if the situation called for it.
<”Er... hi?”> he said nervously to the other Pokémon standing around him. Perhaps he could do a tad better in making a threatening, opponent-worthy impression.
Back up in the tree, Vincent calmed down a bit when the Zubat gave in and gave him some more information about this move tutor thing. Success, he thought with a smirk. <”Oh, okay then. Why didn’t you say that before, geez,”> he added with undisguised annoyance.

Maria smiled, it had been awhile since she had a battle worth anything. The last time she had battled another trainer it had been a guy who had tried to do a few funny things. Rummaging through her bag she pulled out a new Pokeball that she had received from her new friend Sam. It was Orion, her brand new Nincada! She loved bug type Pokemon.
"Alright let's do this then shall we? Come on out, Orion!"
The Bug/Ground type Pokemon looked about, his eyes adjusting to the light outside. What was he doing out here? He hadn't battled in such a long time. When Sam had him he might have battled all of once maybe. <Hello there... Fine day for a quick match no? Don't look so nervous guy, it's just a friendly match after all.> Orion himself was more of an intellectual rather than a brawler but having that intelligence he knew that in order to be able to protect his trainer he had to get stronger. Something his opponent needed to think about.

"O-okay..." Celia tried to put on a brave face, but her insecurity showed itself clearly anyway by the way her hands were trembling when she lifted her flute to her lips. Calm down, she told herself mentally, squeezing her eyes shut and taking a deep breath. You've done this before... it's fine... everything will be fine.
... Somehow, the word "fine" wasn't very reassuring.
She blew. Conrad's ears perked up at the sound of familiar note... where had he heard it before, again? He glanced uncertainly back at Celia, who saw his confusion and jabbed the air with her flute.
Oh, right. He recognised that gesture.
The Nidoran stared for a moment at the Nincada, attempting to steel his nerves before he ran forward, head down and horn readying a Peck attack. Celia wasn't sure whether to feel confident or not. She had done enough studying in school to know that she had a type advantage... but when it came to variety, she and Conrad fell flat. This was the only attack she could communicate to him at the moment; she hadn't gotten around to teaching the other ones yet.

Maria smiled gently at the girl. She seemed to he so nervous. Maybe this battle would help her relax a little? Especially if she went a little easier on her than she normally would.
"Just relax! After all its only a training match! No ones here to judge you after all."
Orion took the peck attack. It was super effective and he winced in pain, not shouting out due to the fact that it would be rather rude. He hardened his body, using an attack called just that. He was ready for this battle. It was his first battle under new management after all and he needed to make a good impression.
