These rooms weren't really crowded, but whomever came through would surely be a trainer of high experience and power. This is what he wanted, this is what he needed. He needed to make sure his skills were still up to par, and perhaps develop new battle techniques under pressure. Besides, it was time for Ashes to face some real challengers, as well.
The quilava was more excited than himself, her flames barely contained with excitement. She was quite glad that finally, her trainer understood that she was the Pokémon for him, and she was the more reliable one (really, Ryuuku was slipping up). This battle would simply prove her superiority against any Pokémon that came out to face him.
Blaze leaned against the wall, at the back of the room, a bottle of water in his hands, the plastic crinkling as he played with it, varying the pressure of the side walls, waiting for a challenger. He had instructed Ashes not to exert too much energy off the bat and wait to explode onto her opponent, and he saw that she was struggling with the command.
Hopefully someone will show up soon.

*sniff sniff sniff* Fang's nose was on the ground and his rear end in the air. He smelled something, someone that was familiar to him. Amber never noticed this part of the lounge before. A signed hung on the door that said Expert Room. Walking in she noticed there weren't too many Trainers inside. She had given Danny some money (she wasn't expecting change back) and sent him on a ice cream spree while she explored the place once more. Amber had been here many times before.
*sniff sniff sniff* Fang knew it. He did smell someone there that he knew. The golden canine frowned as he came to a half way closed door. Once Amber had gotten signed in she had lost sight of Fang. "Darn it, Fang." She muttered as she walked by the rooms.
Fang poked his nose in to find Blaze and his fire type leaning against the walls. Amber finally found Fang, well half of him. His front side was poked inside the walls. Opening the door she smiled sheepishly. "Oh, sorry. I hope he didn't bother you." She said. It appeared that Amber didn't realize it was Blaze, the one who stole her Budew when she started. Though Fang did. Instantly, he growled at the man and his fur stood on end.

He was not the kind of person who remembered every single person he's stolen from (really, who had that kind of visual memory?) and Fang's new golden coat did not help. He honestly did not recognize either pokemon or trainer, and simply invited them into the room. "Don't worry," he said, trying to sound pleasant. They were doing him a favour, after all, and anyone interested in an honest battle would be god practice for him. "Come in. Since you're already here, care for a quick battle?" Besides, this was the trainer's lounge. People came in here in search of battles, and the expert rooms provided a much more interesting playing field.
Ashes' fire suddenly burned at a much higher intensity, as she saw the shiny pokemon peak its head in. She was so excited, wanting to battle, wanting to prover her superior skills. That mutt would be going down for sure to her fiery attacks. Her tiny feet moved around a bit, feeling rather antsy and getting ready to hop into battle.

Ready Intimidate
Fang relaxed only a little bit when Blaze said nothing about him. Maybe his color change made him forget. Then again, that was a very long time ago too. Maybe he's changed...
Amber blinked and walked in the room, closing the door behind her. "Uh, sure. A battle would be fun." The girl replied. Honestly, the Quilava looked a bit too powerful for Fang to battle but it could be fun.
Fang stared down at the Quilava. The fire on her back almost intimidated Fang. Though she was a smaller Pokemon it seemed like she could easily kick his butt. Oh what did he get himself into?
Amber placed her bag down on the floor and stood across from Blaze. Fang was ready, well as ready as he'll ever be, and growled at the Quilava. His own Intimidate ability activating when the battle started.

Challenge accepted, and the battle was on. Blaze knew that any level advantage he could have had was completely negated in these rooms, but he would prove that superior techniques could still win the fight. The mightyena stared Ashes down and the quilava tried not to pay attention, but couldn't help but recoil back just a little bit. She was not going to let the larger canine get the better of her, though, and immediately composed herself again.
"Sunny Day," Blaze said, knowing this would be the best attack to start with. He didn't bother with a greeting, or any other words to the other trainer. This was a battle, and the moment the Mightyena started and trying to intimidate Ashes, it had started. "Ember." The combo would allow her to unleash a stronger attack, the sun intensifying the flames that came from her. He personally preferred to use Flame Charge, but with the Intimidate, this would be the more ideal attack. Ashes acted immediately, the flames on her head and behind glowing bright and reaching high into the air before a small section seemed to tear off and combine, making a minuscule sun that shone quite brightly, making it hard to see clearly. Blaze brought a hand over his eyes and squinted a bit to prevent the glare as Ashes was already working on her second attack. She used an ember, hopping once in excitement before releasing balls of fire from her mouth, sending it flying over to the other side of the field.

+1 atk Hit by Ember Used Howl and Poison Fang
Amber shielded her eyes at the intense sunlight coming through the windows. She remembered a move that made the sun more intense...and powered up fire moves. Fang was blinded by the sudden light in the room and didn't see Ashes come at him with an Ember attack. The small balls of fire slammed into the canine and he yelped as the intense heat hit his body. He skidded backwards a bit and hung his head down, avoiding the sunlight.
"Fang, you alright?" Amber called to her Pokemon. He replied and lifting his head up and glancing back at Amber. With a nod he then returned his attention to the battle. "Use Howl first off!" Amber said. First thing first was some stat changes. Just like Sunny day, though this one lasted a lot longer than Sunny Day. Fang howled at the top of his voice, raising his attack. "Now, Poison Fang!" One of the only moves that caused normal damage to a Fire type that Fang knew was Poison Fang.
The canine rushed at the Quilava. Coming close he opened his mouth, his teeth were lit in a light purple as he came down on the Quilava. Covered in poison it was one of the only moves that could normally damage a Fire type. Oddly enough the move didn't damage Fang one bit.

The fire attacks hit the shiny pokemon dead on, probably leaving him with some uncomfortable wounds. The sun still shone, helping Ashes' attacks stay strong, giving her strength to bound around endlessly and waste her energy by letting her fire out in an almost explosive manner. Blaze was starting to sweat a bit, from the heat, but it did not phase him -- he was used to much worse.
"Defence Curl!" Blaze called out, as the Mightyena started to howl to raise its spirits. "Flame Charge!" He knew that this probably was not the smartest of decisions, but he valued the side effects of these attacks. Ashes managed to curl into a ball just as Fang sank his poisonous fangs into her flesh. The venom wasn't enough to poison her, but more than enough to make her feel quite uncomfortable.
She stayed in that position, glad that at least nothing vital had been hit, before letting the fire gather around her, the inferno burning hotter and hotter. She stayed in a ball and tried to roll around, hoping to slam into the dark-type's sides. The fire served a double purpose to propel her faster, and also to make the contact extra crispy, were it to happen.

Atk + 1 Hit by Flame Charge
Used Sand-Attack and Bite
Fang's attack had hit, though he had bitten a curled up Quilava instead. Suddenly his mouth was on fire. He yelped as the Quilava did a Flame Charge while he was still biting her. The Mightyena was slammed into the wall from the attack. He slumped down to the ground dazed for a moment before getting back to his feet. Panting because his mouth was still hot from that unlucky attack.
<Alright, you got a lucky shot in.> Fang said to Ashes. Ah of course, his ego had kicked it. Gloating about himself once again Fang waited for Amber's command before he attacked.
Amber watched as Fang was hit by the Flame Charge, thankfully his Intimidate ability helped in that matter so it wasn't quite as strong as it should have been. "Fang, use Sand-attack!" She said. The canine kicked up his feet from the ground, kicking up some dirt from the floor and sent it to the Quilava's eyes. "Now, Bite!" Fang hesitated but did as he was told. He jumped at Ashes, hopefully while she was blinded if she was hit by the Sand-Attack, and tried biting down on her hard.

She uncurled from her previous position to gloat a little bit, a smirk on her face. Really, did that pokemon think it stood a chance? She was a fire type, full of destruction and mayhem. She was the strongest pokemon on Blaze's team! Of course she was going to do well. Of course she was going to win this. She et out a little giggle at the canine's words.
<Don't flatter yourself! That was all ski-> before Ashes could finish, she felt a faceful of sand in her face, and in her mouth. It felt disgusting, and she tried to spit it out, taking her focus off the battle due to the discomfort. "Pay attention!" Blaze finally shouted, enough to snap her out of her daze. "Quick, Smokescreen." It was too late, though, as just as she was bellowing a stream of dark fog, she felt the fangs sink into her pelt once again. She let out a little yelp of pain, her paws scratching about wildly as she tried to break free. "Ember! Burn him!" she heard through the rush of adrenaline and endorphins. The smoke was immediately replaced by balls of fire, released in every which way, knowing that at least in the close proximity she was much more likely to hit her target (and, if that mutt knew any common sense, he was going to let her go!)

Dodged Smokescreen Hit by Ember
Used Poison Fang
Fang's attack had once again hit, his fangs stuck in the Quilava's fur. Suddenly, black started to surround him. Before his eyesight could be damaged Fang closed his eyes. The two Pokemon were now in a dark cloud. Amber couldn't see anything, so she had no idea what was going on. Suddenly, Fang came flying out of the dark cloud. Digging his claws int the ground he stopped himself before he could hit the wall again. Steam rose off of Fang's coat. He glared at the Quilava. The Ember had hit him dead on again.
<Fine fine, you got another lucky shot in...> He said. <But I had my eyes closed so I didn't see that attack.> The canine said, his ego yet again taking over.
"Fang, quit talking and use Poison Fang!" Amber said. Why did Fang always talk so much when in battle? It annoyed her a bit.
Fang rolled his eyes and ran towards Ashes again. This time his fangs were covered in poison yet again. As he tried biting down on the Quilava his teeth dripped with poison.

Instead, it drove her spirit up, letting her flames burn ever brighter. <If it helps heal your bruised ego, I suppose you can call it a lucky shot!> she said, fire already dancing around the edges of her maw, ready to unleash another attack. This battle would be over soon. There was no question to it. She would be the victor, of course.
They were facing each other, eyes locked, getting ready for the next set of commands. The girl had gone first as Blaze was evaluating the situation and allowing his pokemon to recharge up just a little bit and make the most of the next volley of fire. The poison was worrysome, and though Ashes tried to dodge it once again, her decision to do so in a bit of an aerial fashion, much more flamboyant but not nearly as effective, cost her. The poison fangs once again hit her, this time more of a graze than a direct attack. It managed to tear through her skin, though, and she found herself suddenly favouring her left side. And even though the fire pokemon tried her best not to show it, Blaze saw that she had indeed been poisonned, her flames flickering oddly for just long enough for the trainer to see the signs.
"Come on, girl. Ember again, and the Defense Curl," said Blaze, his voice still confident. He was not going to betray his pokemon's illness. Not when the battle could still tip in either directions. He would just have to do his best to tip it to his own favour, and soon. "Use the Sun!"
With just a bit lest gusto, and definitely not putting her whole weight on her right hind leg, Ashes still managed to move around quite swiftly, keeping herself in motion. She then jumped between the miniature sun and the dark-type, hoping the dumb canine would follow her movements and be blinded by the intense glare before balls of fire were shot toward him. She landed and transitioned right into a ball, curling herself up and privately wincing in pain as the poison sapped her energy. She rolled around the floor, leaving a trail of tiny fires, quick to be extinguished once the source was gone.

Atk +2 Hit by Ember Close to weakening
Used Howl and Bite
Fang nodded. <Yup yup.> The hound then thought about the fire type's comment. <....bruised ego? ....HEY!> It took Fang a second before he realized what Ashes actually meant. Well Fang always did have a bit ego. Since he was on this subject he was shot down by the Ember attack. The move made him fall to the ground. "Fang!" Amber said in alarm. "Fang, you alright?" She asked.
Her trusted canine partner struggled to get up but he gritted his teeth and stood on his feet. <I'm fine, fine just fine.> he said, not showing the fact his energy was lowering by each attack. With that sunny day in affect the fire attacks were much stronger than usual.
Amber watched Ashes closely. Wait, the Quilava's flames... After watching the Quilava more closely she noticed something was different about her fire. They flickered, like she was taking damage from the inside. Amber thought for a moment. Fang's Poison Fang must have finally taken affect! The Quilava was weakening more and more each turn with the Poison. Maybe the battle wasn't lost after all.
"Come on Fang, use Howl!" Amber cried. Fang couldn't have been any happier. He howled at the top of his voice, raising his attack yet again. "Use Bite! Try and aim for the same spot as before!" Amber figured if she kept aiming for the same spot it would get sore, proving as a weak spot in due time.
As soon as Amber's command came Fang rushed into action. <I'll show you who has a bruised ego.> Running towards the Quilava. Seeking out the same spot from before he tried biting down on Ashes once again.

He'd have to ask Ashes to put another one of them up, if he wanted to keep his fire attacls going strong. However, that would be a vulnerability as his pokemon was not rolling across the field, like a flaming doughnut, keeping all of her tan fur -- her more vulnerable parts -- well protected. He did not want to give that up. "Keep it up," he said. "And try to hit him with another Ember!"
It would be hard, as the two pokemon darted around the field to get the strongest attack out. Ashes couldn't see too well in her position, but the mightyena's words gave her a good indication of how close he was, and when she should strike. There were no more wasted movements, no more smack talk. Not when she was using quite a bit of her concentration to quell the poison and ignore it as much as she could. Just as the bite hit, not quite in the same place as before, but enough to make the fire type wince in pain, she took advantage of their close quarters and aimed her attacks at her opponents belly, where it would hopefully burn even hotter than on the thicker backside pelt.
Even as she attacked, Ashes felt the poison weakening her more and more. She wouldn't last too long, but knew she had to make every attack count. Her fire was still being boosted by the Sunny Day, but that would no longer be the case. It had burned out, making the lighting in the room much dimmer than before. Blaze had a little trouble trying to adjust his eyes again, but managed to keep them focused on the battle. Just a bit more. He had to stay in a bit longer, and he knew he'd pull a victory.

Atk + 3 BURNED Weakening
Used Howl and Iron Tail
As Fang was close range to Ashes he didn't have time to dodge the attack fired at his underbelly. The move blasted him away from the fire type and he landed back on his side of the field. He stayed down for a moment, regaining his senses, before he stood up. Suddenly his body was covered in flames. Howling in pain, the Mightyena had been burned.
Amber gritted her teeth. Fang was now burned, which meant his attack was lowered and his energy would burn away each turn. More or less the battle was even now. Both Pokemon had a status affecting them and now the Sunny Day was beginning to fade. She would have to think what she could do at this point.
Then she had an idea. Though the move wouldn't cause much damage the way it was meant to be used if she used it in a different way the outcome could be much different. "Fang, use Howl!" The Mightyena did not need to be told twice. He howled loudly to raise his attack and spirit. "Now use Iron Tail! Try throwing the Quilava off the ground!"
Fang's tail glowed with a white light. Iron Tail would not cause much damage but if Fang could throw the Quilava into the sky he could hopefully dodge the next attack. Since the Quilava wasn't used to be in the air (or at least he hoped it wasn't) maybe he could get ahead in the battle again. Fang raced towards the fire type, trying to ignore the pain from the burn. He then quickly turned around and tried getting his tail underneath the Quilava's belly, then he chucked his tail upward. In hopes of throwing her into the air.

She was starting to get really tired, especially as the poison burned in her veins, as she felt her fire burn less brightly than it did before. Perhaps part of it was due to the sun, fading away, but Ashes could definitely feel her legs shake a bit. She took just a few seconds to rest, taking deep breaths as air started to lack from her lungs. Her head snapped up when the Mightyena howled, and she was instantly on alert again.
The burn had been a lucky shot. With it, not only would the pokemon be quite weakened, it would also feel the continuous fire licking at its skin. Blaze wasn't sure if that was a victory for him, if that meant he could hold on for a bit longer. "Ashes, don't let that attack hit you!" he said, hoping she still had enough strength to dodge that next attack. However, the fatigue she felt was too much to ignore, and Ashes jumped out of the way a bit too late and found herself in the air, her body trying to twist itself so it was upright. The feeling was terrible and the quilava let out a terrified squeal.
"Ashes, Swift!" Blaze called. "Snap out of it!" There was a knot in his stomach as he watched Ashes being flung into the air. Sure, the first hit hadn't hurt too much, but now she was a sitting -- falling -- duck, and he wasn't sure how pleasant the floor would feel when she landed. Ashes, still squealing in fear as she tried to right herself, let out a volley of bright white stars that seemed to home onto the Mightyena. The stars did not stop coming until Ashes felt her side hit the ground, knocking the wind out of her. She squeezed her eyes close in pain and struggled to get back up, her whole body aching. Just a bit more, she thought. Ryuuku would have backed down, but she. would. not.

Atk + 3 BURNED Super Weak (when I say hanging on a thread I mean like 1HP trololol)
Hit by Swift, hurt by burn
Used Bite
Fang growled happily seeing his move had worked. However, his victory was short lived when the fire engulfed him yet again. His burn drained the energy out of him and made him fall to one knee. He thought he was going to faint when he saw stars. On snap, that was a Swift attack. The Swift smacked into him, making him drop to his stomach. He grimaced at the pain and struggled to get up. Slowly but surely the hound rose once again.
Amber flinched herself as she watched her partner fall then get burned and then get hit by Swift. He barely stood up again but somehow was able to. His energy was gone, he was hanging by a thread right now. She wondered if she could end this. The two Pokémon had statuses affecting them and they were both weak. She wasn't sure how the battle would end. It was either way. Maybe it would be a tie? Who knew, best to give it all she had.
"Fang, can you continue?" She asked. The Mightyena tried not to show his pain as he turned around and nodded. Amber nodded but she wasn't sure. "Alright...use Bite then." She said.
Fang managed to get his last wind and rushed towards Ashes once more. He tried biting down yet again as his legs became weak and he almost collapsed.

Her legs shook, finding it hard to even support her own weight. She wanted to keep going -- she wanted to prove how strong she was, but every muscle in her body screamed. Her mind was in a haze, the pain dulling her senses, the world blurry and spinning even though she stood still. The fire was barely burning anymore, exposing the vent holes, red in colour and barely a whiff of smoke coming from them. Try as she might, as she could muster up were a few small licks of flame that died down as fast as they were formed.
Blaze hated giving up on his pokemon, but he knew when a battle was over. He prepared Ashes' pokeball, wondering whether it would be more humane for him to just end the battle now and spare the last stretch of her energy. No. He couldn't do that. She had fought so hard, she deserved to at least finish the battle with as much dignity as she wanted, on her own terms. He held the ball close to his chest. You fought valiantly, he thought, a small, pained smile on his face conveying is emotions. "Last one. With everything you've got, ember!" There was nothing else he could do but watch as Ashes struggled to come up with the energy to form the attack. Whatever fire she had stored in her body was not being concentrated near her jaw. She looked so naked and exposed, without the familiar mane and tail of fire. Without taking a single step, she let out a single ball of fire on the dark-type pokemon before she collapsed, feeling the sharp fangs pierce her side and the poison burn her from within.
