just talk yourself up [/size] A N D T E A R Y O U R S E L F D O W N - - - - - - - - - - - -Why was she even here?
Dinah sat down at a lone table, staring through the slits of her mask with her dark gray eyes. Everyone was dancing, drinking, and having a good time, but what was the point of all of this? Maybe Azu just wanted Dinah to get out more, but nevertheless, this was boring. Everyone was charade-ing around in masks, dancing with people they did not even know and entrancing others with mystery. It was all so cliche.
Resting her elbow on the table, and her chin on her knuckles, she continued to observe all that was around her. Was this really what people did in their spare time? Maybe Azu just wanted Dinah to get out more, live a little, but she just did not care for parties and romance. She just didn't get it.
It was just all so silly. What compelled Dinah to come here, dressed up, with make up on, was beyond her, but her azurill was manipulative. Especially with those big, blue, watery eyes. Dinah's eyes glazed over from the lack of excitement, and began to zone out.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=width,450,true][atrb=cellPadding,0][bg=eeeedd] YOU KNOW THAT I'D BE LYING if I said I wasn't getting quite bored yet
[atrb=background,http://i1119.photobucket.com/albums/k632/xoSarahlicious/Moments/Sky.jpg] Shinji would sigh, plopping down into a random seat in a blind daze. After darting off stage, he halfway circled the ship's deck before re-entering the ballroom. Upon entrance, he was so tired that he didn't care where he dropped himself. He just hoped he wouldn't land in someone's lap by mistake, as that could lead to more embarrassment and disaster than what had set in after singing that accursed song. "Um...," he would begin, as life seemed to go against his hopes. Though avoiding something like that would've been as easy as keeping his eyes peeled. Standing right back up, he would scratch the back of his head and feel the brim of his hat. He would look to the girl with a nervous smile, oh-so happy that she couldn't possibly have known his identity. Forgetting he had worn it to conceal his easily recognizable hair, he would take the hat off and the 'bird's nest' would mesh out into its usual state. Quite an oddity if any human being observed the phenomenon. How did he not get hat hair after cramming a mass of white so big into the slightly smaller space? At any rate, he would bow to the girl apologetically. Upon rising, he would scratch his cheek idly while wondering what exactly he could say without further worsening the situation. "I'm sooo sorry... There was the song and the running-- oh, the running-- and I was so dazed that I just dropped after spotting a table and your outfit's as black as the chairs-- oh, so black-- and, and--," he would ramble on but Willow, his precious Wooper, had finally caught up to her trainer and tackled him, as if it were punishment for almost leaving her behind. Shinji would fall to the ground in his nervous state, not even noticing how his mask had been knocked off. "Willow! Gah, it's okay girl...," he would utter softly while petting the wailing Wooper. When the Pokémon finally stopped crying, Shinji would sigh while looking at the girl and once again laughing nervously. "Uh... As sucky a position as I'm in right now, anything I can do to make up for my stupidity?" notes: hope that was amusing enough. D; tags: dinah!, open! words: 2lzy2cnt! |

just talk yourself up [/size] A N D T E A R Y O U R S E L F D O W N - - - - - - - - - - - -It did not take more than two seconds for something odd to happen.
"I'm sooo sorry... There was the song and the running-- oh, the running-- and I was so dazed that I just dropped after spotting a table and your outfit's as black as the chairs-- oh, so black-- and, and--,"
Dinah had barely any time to react! Everything happened with such a blur, that she found herself blinking, and then standing up in front of the fellow who had so gracefully, accidentally approached her....on her lap. First of all, she was puzzled because she was pale and would that not be visible on the chairs? Second, running? Song? Everything did not make sense. Dinah just crossed her arms, waiting for his little apology fit to die down before saying anything.
"Willow! Gah, it's okay girl... Uh... As sucky a position as I'm in right now, anything I can do to make up for my stupidity?"
Looking up for a moment, thinking, but really, she did not care that he had sat on her, nor did he have to make it up to her in some way. When he was tackled to the ground, his mask was knocked off. That face...it looked familiar, but she could not put a name to it. Dinah held out a hand to help him up, "What would be the fun in that if I told you what to do? Surprise me." She finally said, trying to stifle a laugh.
"Don't worry about looking silly, I don't mind. I'm silly too," She added, trying to soften the mood, but made herself look.... rather silly in the process. He seemed rather frazzled, and if he was going to make it up to her, she did not want him to be frazzled in the process! That would just be...well, quite a show. Heh, she should just let him freak out.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=width,450,true][atrb=cellPadding,0][bg=eeeedd] YOU KNOW THAT I'D BE LYING if I said I wasn't getting quite bored yet
[atrb=background,http://i1119.photobucket.com/albums/k632/xoSarahlicious/Moments/Sky.jpg] Not quite the prideful type, Shinji would accept the girl's offer to help him up. Once on his feet, he would take notice to his mask on the floor and gently place a hand to his face to see if it was there. Well, he wouldn't so much as stifle a gasp at its absence from his face, just putting on a bit of a stale face. As if this could get anymore bothersome. Then again, he wasn't really in any mortal pain aside from his dignity. He would set Willow on the ground so that she could enjoy the ball as well before bending to pick up his fallen mask, refitting the artistic piece on his face. No attempt would be made to find his stylish hat, though. That he could live without, preferring his hair to be in its normal wild state. It just looked so cool the way it defied the laws of physics. Now he felt a little wrong for letting his mask fall off, his identity not as enigmatic as it could and should have been. "Oh, darn. Welp, looks like I won't be as mysterious as everyone else. Heh, but what do I care about what my actions are in a room full of strangers?" he would reason to himself before taking the girl's hand. "How about a da--," but the boy would find himself once again interrupted by the wondrous fouling of life. This time it was the yell of another who seemed frustrated as is. What he was yelling at bothered him, though. "Damn whatever you are! Get the hell out of here!" yelled a rather burly man, who seemed to be in a suit too tight for his frame. The man was yelling at Willow, who seemed to have slipped away while Shinji was distracted with Dinah and was now crying from the negative attention. Though he didn't intend to be rude, he would have to completely disregard his moment with the girl to go save his precious Pokémon. Tapping the guy on the shoulder, he would cross his arms. "She's just a baby! Where do you get off yelling at innocent creatures like that?" scolded the youth. The man looked back at the Pokémon and then at Shinji. It wouldn't take long for the douche to realize he was probably the Wooper's trainer. "So that's yours? You better learn to keep it on a leash--!!" yelled the man as he struck out at the white-haired youth. If there was anything he had gained from training his pokemon, it was decent reflexes. With a duck, he would find himself underneath the man's arm while it's end hand slammed into the back of another man's head. Shinji raised an eyebrow, knowing that wouldn't end well. Slipping away from the position and picking up Willow, he would make his way back to Dinah as the two men duked it out, with numerous people trying to either break it up or avoid getting drawn in. Shinji would sigh before returning Willow to her pokeball, the Wooper once again cheerful thanks to her trainer standing up for her. He would furrow his eyebrows while offering a hand to Dinah. "Not as romantic as it could be, but care to dance to the sounds of flying fists?" notes: mmm, violence! tags: dinah!, open! words: 2lzy2cnt! |

"Damn whatever you are! Get the hell out of here!"
Again, they were interrupted, and Dinah found herself bewildered with what had happened next. After she had helped him up, she crossed her arms, wrapping her fingers around her upper arms. Her nail polish alternated between pink and green on each finger, and they were chipped and worn out from failure of reapplying. Although she looked annoyed, or bored, or both, she certainly was not. Her eyes widened at the confrontation between the stranger and the man who was cheesed off at a....wooper?
"She's just a baby! Where do you get off yelling at innocent creatures like that?"
"So that's yours? You better learn to keep it on a leash--!!"
Once the man struck the white-haired stranger, Dinah let out a small gasp and took a step forward, holding out an arm for a moment, and then was stunned when, in a blur of events, the white-haired stranger had proven himself to be decent at fighting. She brought the hand that was outstretched to her mouth, trying to cover her dropping jaw.
He returned, and Dinah's expression had not changed. Her amusement turned into horror at the sight of all of this. Oh, would she have stories to tell her precious Azu. When he returned the Wooper to her pokeball, Dinah began to chuckle under her breath. Hm, if she stuck around this guy, at least she would not be bored!
"Not as romantic as it could be, but care to dance to the sounds of flying fists?"
Romance? What would she know about romance? It seemed to be a curse with Dinah. She was the least romantic person in that room, but the situation fitted her stone-hearted nature. Dinah gave him a half smile, looking down before looking back up at him. Why not? What was she supposed to do, sit back down and be a wallflower for the rest of the trip?
Dinah took his hand, at first awkwardly, but then it fit, "I suppose. What else is there to do at this bore-fest?" Though, between the riots it was not as boring as before. It was almost ironic, the classical music that was played by various string and wind instruments played something light and airy, yet the crowds were just pulling apart the two men in the brawl. "Just promise you won't throw a punch at me, will ya?" She joked, rolling her eyes in a sarcastic manner.

[atrb=background,http://i1119.photobucket.com/albums/k632/xoSarahlicious/Moments/Sky.jpg] The fact that such a line worked somewhat surprised Shinji, but he wouldn't comment on it. Merely tuck it away in case he wanted to dance with a girl in the future and was running low on lines. At any rate! Shinji would laugh at the girl's words before gently tugging her closer so that they could properly dance. In a memory emotionally pushed into a corner for the sake of his own sanity, one could find the vision of Shinji being dressed up by his mother then forced to ballroom dance with a Pokémon in her idea of a 'cute birthday present from her son.' What didn't help was that Shinji's dad sat back laughing with the video recorder. Fleeting from the damaging memory, we would find the boy not too traumatized by the experience, as he seemed to have no problem using the skills he was branded with. While one of his hands occupied one of Dinah's, Shinji would let the other slide behind her back to draw her nearer. "I'll stick to punching assholes and inanimate objects," he replied jokingly, though not necessarily without a hint of being serious. Upon settling into proper dancing form, he would laugh a bit. "This reminds me of a funny story that I don't intend to tell anyone," he began in a playful tone though ending on a serious note. Okay, so maybe those memories weren't exactly suppressed, but the point is that they existed. Without any hesitation, Shinji would proceed to draw the topic away from the civil outburst. After all, he couldn't allow room for too many questions to be asked that he would rather not recall the answer to! "But the scene of a fist fight being a bore-fest? I'd love to see what you call fun! You a trainer?" Of course he'd engage in casual conversation while in the middle of dancing. What else would he do? Romantically entice the girl by flaunting his mighty colorful tail feathers? Well he was no peacock, so his focus would go into finding more about his dance partner. She seemed rather interesting. notes: ah, memories~! tags: dinah!, open! words: 2lzy2cnt! |

just talk yourself up [/size] A N D T E A R Y O U R S E L F D O W N - - - - - - - - - - - -As he pulled her closer to dance, she felt herself fumbling with his hands until she finally fit her fingers through his. She was not a particularly good dancer, and it was not like she was usually asked to dance. He pulled her waist closer, and her body agreed. She found herself face to face with this strangely familiar stranger, but still... there was no name. Whatever, it would come to her eventually!
"I'll stick to punching assholes and inanimate objects."
Dancing was, nice... a bit awkward, but nice. She was not used to being this close to someone, and if she was not so afraid of him leaving her to her boredom again, she would quickly reject him and be on her merry way. Dinah chuckled a bit, letting the music sway them from side to side, "I hope I don't fall into either of those categories." She gave him a half smile. Well, it was true.
"This reminds me of a funny story that I don't intend to tell anyone.
Dinah rose a brow, making lines on her forehead appear, "If you did not intend to tell anyone, why bring it up now?" She asked, and shrugged her shoulders lightly, "Guess it just gives you that air of mystery, huh?" She teased. If the conversation got to serious, it could turn very awkward, so she let it go. She was a curious person, and she knew that this certain memory would burn the back of her mind until she found out what exactly he meant by it, but she would not press on it now.
"But the scene of a fist fight being a bore-fest? I'd love to see what you call fun! You a trainer?"
Taking a moment to think it over, Dinah decided, if she was already in a mask, why not just make herself incredibly unrecognizable? She shook her head, "Nah, I just like boring old parties." She ended up saying. If she created some sort of person for herself, it would leave a huge gap between them, and the last thing she wanted was to get close. Chances were, they would never see each other after this. "Let me guess, you're on your way to become a Pokemon Master, correct?" She tried to guess, "A closet fancomic artist? Perhaps you're a beautician, bent on making every hair color white?" She teased, giving him a small smile to let him know she was joking. Hmm. White hair...

[atrb=background,http://i1119.photobucket.com/albums/k632/xoSarahlicious/Moments/Sky.jpg] As close as their bodies were, the two couldn't be any more distant. Alienated from each other by the masks and secrecy, they were true strangers to each other in that moment. In an odd sense, this brought comfort to Shinji. There was more freedom in interacting with someone you figured would never know you, especially when you weren't quite yourself in every sense of the word aside from physical being. Ironically, Shinji was just as sincere behind masks and hidden identities as he was with a name. "Right now, you're just my cute dance partner~," replied the boy in a low tone. He would have to give himself a reality check to realize they weren't the only people in the room. Being immersed in conversation seemed to cloud out everything else, and all the strangers around them seemed like figments of the imagination. Why, he hadn't even taken notice to the fact that the fight in the background was finally quelled. Pursing his lips at her response to his random statement, Shinji couldn't help but wonder himself why he brought it up. Though not much thought would go into it, he already knew why. "Thinkin' aloud's a bad habit of mine, heh. Sorry, but you might get the story if you stick around long enough," he would tease. He was perceptive enough to notice that she wasn't much of a dancer, as she didn't insist on any complex movements or advanced positions. He wouldn't mind it at all, seeing as it allowed a pleasant pace in the conversation. "Quite the sense of humor!" he would jeer, but in a playful tone. In the current mood, her sarcasm and witty banter brought an air of familiarity. As if the two were friends outside of the fancy masks and fine tailored clothing. Laughing a bit at her suggestions as to what his goals might be, he would lean in to whisper in her ear as though the topic was top secret. "Nah, I'm your run of the mill superhero. But keep it between us, kay?" he would muse lowly before letting out a small chuckle, mimicking the tone of the girl's reply to his question. "And what of you, my dear? just talk yourself up [/size] A N D T E A R Y O U R S E L F D O W N - - - - - - - - - - - -"Right now, you're just my cute dance partner~,"
Cute....? A small blush crept up her neck, and lightly brushed her cheeks, though she was covered by the glittery mask. She honestly....had nothing witty or clever to say to that, and she desperately hoped he would say something else so she would not lose her cool. She may be playing a part, but if she stopped being her relaxed self, all of her lies would be untangled.
"Thinkin' aloud's a bad habit of mine, heh. Sorry, but you might get the story if you stick around long enough,"
Dinah rolled her eyes playfully, "Only if you keep entertaining me." Obviously it was a ploy to get her to stay, but honestly he did not really need any gimmicks. Despite the lack of distance between the two, this was actually kind of nice. Dinah liked that she had a public secret identity. It made things a lot easier.
As he moved in closer, she backed away until he realized he was not going to do something too forward. Instead, he whispered into her ear and she could feel his warm breath down her neck. She shivered slightly, feelings the chills run down her spine. What was she doing here, even? This was not Dinah. Dinah avoided things like this. She bit her lip, mentally freaking out and trying to formulate some sort of plan to get out of it...
"Nah, I'm your run of the mill superhero. But keep it between us, kay?"
...really? Dinah blinked for a moment, before trying to stifle a laugh. What she had been worried about moments before was just merely a joke. She breathed in and out, relieved. "Don't worry," She smiled, "Your secret's safe with me." Heh, superhero. How clever. "Will I be expecting you to bust out in uber-tights to save the universe?" She teased.
"And what of you, my dear? I'm sure you have some splendiferous secret identity~!"
Dinah looked up for a moment, formulating her own persona in a mere couple of seconds. She looked back into his eyes, hidden behind the shadow of the mask, and smirked, " Be careful who you tell your secrets to. I'm a super villain...in a cocktail dress."
"Is this the part where we have an epic brawl?" She asked chuckling lightly under her breath. This was quite fun, honestly. At least she found someone worthwhile to talk to. He was witty, funny, and clever. Just like her, and suddenly she felt the urge to get to know him. The real him, but that was a silly notion. A masquerade was all about mystery, and Dinah feared if he had willingly revealed his true identity that she would be a lot less interested.

[atrb=background,http://i1119.photobucket.com/albums/k632/xoSarahlicious/Moments/Sky.jpg] Dinah's reactions lead Shinji to enjoy her company even more. She knew how to give and take a joke, and she had her witty retorts that kept the conversation lively. He would have to make a note to get her number after this excursion. While lacking the ambiguity this encounter held, future conversations with her did seem to be appealing. Besides, the real her couldn't be that much different from the image before him, right? At any rate, the slight rejection to his advancement let him know that, while she was alright with dancing with him, she wouldn't permit him to get too close. Kind of odd if he thought about it, but he wouldn't think much of it in the first place. Everyone had their boundaries, his just weren't as great as others. Besides, it didn't obstruct his intent of whispering to the girl, so he got his way in the end. A small laugh would come in response to her question, finding her responses more and more humorous. He was surprised at how well she played along with the little jokes. "Tights? Pfft, I'm all about the leather!" Shinji replied almost as if he were serious. Then again, he wouldn't mind finding a white leather jacket to look cool on his journey. He would make note to seek one when this masquerade ball business was all over with. Awaiting her response to his question, he could already tell her answer would be good from the smirk that crept onto her visage. Chuckling at her response, he would grin a bit before addressing her implication. "Eh, too tired to do the whole Mister and Misses Smith tango. But--," he would begin before leaning forward and attempting to lean her own body back. It wasn't another attempt to get close, he just figured it was about time to throw a dip into the mix. "I guess you'll have to settle for this~!" he would tease before readjusting his posture. Settling back into the regular pace and mode they were in before, he would take notice to the bar in the background. How had he missed that before? Curling his lips into a smile, he would glance back to his partner. "Care for a firewater break?" notes: go alcohol! tags: dinah!, open! words: 2lzy2cnt! |

just talk yourself up [/size] A N D T E A R Y O U R S E L F D O W N - - - - - - - - - - - -"Tights? Pfft, I'm all about the leather!"
Dinah stifled a laugh, making her hard palate vibrate and thus making herself lightly snort. It did not happen often, only when the situation was absolutely hilarious. Her face became pink, a bit embarrassed of such an unattractive move. Quickly, she replied, hoping he did not notice, "I'm sure dead cow looks absolutely marvelous on you," she gave him a half smile, "Personally, I think either would look good on you." She did not mean to flirt, it just came out that way, ah well, they continued to sway.
"Eh, too tired to do the whole Mister and Misses Smith tango. But--,"
Before Dinah could even say a word, she moved his hand and leaned back, dipping down low before moving back to a standing position. "I guess you'll have to settle for this~!" He had said, and Dinah was stunned. The movement went so fast, and it was almost exhilarating. Dinah was not used to the spontaneity, but it seemed... nice. Nice enough for the situation, but suddenly reality hit her hard. This boy, he was a nobody. She would never see him after this, and chances were, he was not as cool and as suave as the mask he wore.
"Care for a firewater break?"
Her thoughts were broken by his voice, taking a moment to register what he had said. Maybe this was for the best. Dinah nodded, moving her hand off her shoulder, and unwound her fingers from his, "Sure, if you want to," She began, "I have to, uh, powder my nose. Isn't that what fancy people do at these kinds of parties?" She chuckled lightly, but there was something by the tone of her voice that felt almost awkward. The sudden realization that nothing could, or ever would happen, crashed upon her.
Dinah took one step back, distancing herself from the boy before walking from the ballroom into the hallway, a much more silent corridor from the cheery, classical music inside. She pushed open the door to the ladies room, and looked at herself in the mirror. She slid the mask off of her face, making small indents on her nose and ears. She stared into her own dark eyes, and whispered, "Don't get too close, Dinah." Hopefully, no one else heard her.
A lady in red walked out of a stall, breaking Dinah's concentration. She blinked once, before turning around facing the toilets. After finishing her business, she returned to the sink. She lathered her hands in soap, and put them underneath the automatic sinks. She rubbed her hands, and for the first time she realized her hands were cold, as if they were missing the fingers that intertwined with them. She looked at herself again, scowling at thinking of such a thing, and dried her hands with paper towel. She clumsily put on her mask, almost forgetting it.
Taking one long breath, she pulled open the bathroom door, and walked back into the ballroom. The song had changed to something lower and deeper than before, she looked from left to right, looking for her dance partner. "Now, what was he talking about? Fire and water...?" She asked herself.

[atrb=background,http://i1119.photobucket.com/albums/k632/xoSarahlicious/Moments/Sky.jpg] The girl's comment put the odd image of him wearing a cow-print jacket which gave way to over-sized cowboy pants. Cringing at the image, he would find himself chuckling a bit when he thought of how unrealistic it were. But her compliment threw him off a bit. It was weird, he was actually sure she wasn't quite the type to hand such words out. He couldn't help but smile a bit, as it certainly wasn't sarcasm. "Uh, okay...," he would reply as she darted off toward the restroom. But he could've sworn there was something strange to her voice, a bit off from the girl he knew for a few minutes. Then he repeated the thought in his mind. The girl he knew for a few minutes. Whatever he thought he heard was probably just a figment of his mind, as no one could really know a person that well in a matter of minutes. With a shrug Shinji would calmly paced towards the bar as he was in no rush with his companion no longer present. Running a hand through the white mess atop his head, he would take a seat and order himself a light drink. He was surprised that he didn't need any identification. Perhaps the guy thought the white hair was old age? Shinji shook his head, actually disliking the thought of being considered old. "Gonna order somethin' fer ya date, sir?" questioned the bartender, actually causing Shinji to furrow his eyebrows. The guy was obviously vigilant when it came to potential guests to serve, but did he and his new friend really give off that impression? He hadn't even considered relationships what with the whole 'train to wreck Team Death' routine programmed in his mind. Scratching his cheek idly, he shook the thoughts out of his head. "Eh, just get my friend a Shirley Temple. Not too sweet, kay?" he would request in an almost irate tone. The bartender understood and backed off, leaving Shinji to rotate his drink in hand while obviously somewhat deep in thought. Letting his eyes stray across the room, he would find himself snapped out of the thoughts once he recognized Dinah standing where she had left. He would toss her a casual wave to signal her over, wondering if his ivory hair really didn't stand out enough. notes: i'mtemptedtobringindrunkshinji! tags: dinah!, open! words: 2lzy2cnt! |

just talk yourself up [/size] A N D T E A R Y O U R S E L F D O W N - - - - - - - - - - - -There was no way Dinah could just return to the awkward phrases she had left the boy with, but it suddenly felt weird. She was not used to flirting and the like, and after a while she usually begins to get a little freaked out. Commitment issues? Possibly, but she has never been in a relationship so she cannot exactly say she does.
With a small glimpse over at the bar, she caught sight of the boys wave to her. She took a moment, and breathed in slowly. She could do this. If she did not, she would be stuck sitting at a table all by her lonesome, again, but was putting herself through this worth it? Oh well, she would find out.
Dinah walked over there, thankful her flats did not make that loud, clank-y sound like heels did. That was annoying. She found herself standing by him, until she looked down at the empty seat next to him and slid herself on it, "Hope ya, didn't miss me too much." She crossed her legs, and the dress barely reached her knees, but she was oblivious to it. The bartender gave her a smile, and put down the shirley temple the man had ordered for her. She picked up the glass with a hand, "I really hope you're not trying to drug me." Dinah did not usually drink alcohol, but...why not? It was a party.
As she brought the glass to her lips, she stopped, and looked at the boy and said, "We should make a toast." She held the glass up in front of her, smiling at him, "To mystery, I suppose?" It was more like a question than a statement, but she hoped he would go along with it.

[atrb=background,http://i1119.photobucket.com/albums/k632/xoSarahlicious/Moments/Sky.jpg] He couldn't explain it, but there was a certain elation to seeing the girl notice him. Such that a smile and crept its way onto his face without him even noticing it. Shinji, however, would quickly shift it into a smirk so as an attempt to let his snarky nature overtake his feelings at that moment. "Nah," was his simple response to the girl's question, though leaving a tone as to imply that he somewhat did. Not too much, though. Shaking the ice cubes around in the cup of his half-finished drink, he would look towards the girl as she sat down and accepted the drink he order. Her comment made him laugh a bit, and he was certainly glad none of the contents of his cup were in his mouth at the time. "I guess we won't know 'till ya pass out." Oh, how creepy that would be if said in a mildly serious tone. However, Shinji's tone clearly just reflected is cheeky persona. Her next suggestion, however, somewhat surprised him. It kind of caught him off guard only because he had almost forgotten what toasts were. In fact, he hadn't recalled a situation in his life that called for one. With a shrug, he would lift his glass and hold it in front of the girl. Hearing her proposal, he would smile a bit. "Oh, how I love your style~," he would almost sing in a playful tone before letting the edge of his glass clank against the one that Dinah was holding. It wouldn't be long before Shinji completely downed the drink, as if he were deprived of fluid. Setting the glass back on the table, he would sigh. "Toss me another hit!" he would call to the bartender before giving his attention back to Dinah. "Enjoying yourself, dearie?" notes: So tempted to let Shinji get hammered! tags: dinah!, open! words: 2lzy2cnt! |

just talk yourself up [/size] A N D T E A R Y O U R S E L F D O W N - - - - - - - - - - - -It really did not matter if he had missed her or not, it was just something silly to say at a silly time. Honestly, Dinah did not care much about him other than the fact that he amused her. There was still that itch she could not scratch though. He looked so...familiar, still, and it was not something she could shrug off. They were both in masks, though, so he could really be anyone. Perhaps she would ask later.
"I guess we won't know 'till ya pass out."
Dinah chuckled lightly under her breath. He was definitely witty, and she did not believe him. She would probably pass out just by drinking, no drugs involved. She was small, and her lack of drinking before this made her alcohol tolerance a bit...low. "Promise not to take advantage of me, if I do?" She gave him a half smile.
As they clanked glasses, Dinah brought the shirley temple to her lips, and sipped it lightly. As she swallowed, the warm, alcoholic beverage burned her throat lightly, which was something she did not expect. She put the drink down on the counter, and looked to the man, who had already downed his drink, and asked for another. "I think we're going to have to worry about you passing out," she commented, lightly laughing.
"Enjoying yourself, dearie?"
In truth, she was, and she never would have thought she was in this situation. Dinah nodded, shrugged, "It's a lot better than being a wallflower, that's for sure." She was not the type to get overly excited, just a little quirky at times. She brought her shirley temple to her lips, and drank a little more of it, "Looks like you are definitely enjoying yourself. Don't get too drunk, now." She teased, "I don't think I'll be able to carry you to your room."

[atrb=background,http://i1119.photobucket.com/albums/k632/xoSarahlicious/Moments/Sky.jpg] "I'unno, a man has needs...," he would begin as if pondering the thought, though his tone was facetious enough to let her know it was a joke. Finishing his second helping of a Shirley Temple, or Dirty Shirley as most called the alcoholic variety, he would set the glass on the counter. "I mean, sure! Why not!" he would quickly shift while signaling the bartender for another refill. He wanted to wake up with his head in his ass, metaphorically speaking. Giving the girl a slight grin, Shinji swiped his thumb across his nose almost as though it were an automatic response to her comments about him holding his liquor. "I'll have you know, dear, that I plan to go hard until my livers cry," he would begin while accepting his refill. Stirring it with the straw and sipping, he would smile at her. "But of course, I'm enjoying this conversation waaay too much to let that happen~!" cooed the boy as he actually finished his third glass and sat it to wait for another order. Running a hand through his white mass of hair, he would re-adjust his vision to the girl, who seemed a little different. Maybe it would the slight blurring, but he would pay no mind to it. "Don't worry about me, I'm light anyways." he would say with a grin while glancing around, realizing it wasn't as populated as moments ago. Snapping back into his conversation with the girl, he would smile a bit. "Then again, I do think it'd be wise to trust you with my room key~!" cheered the white-haired boy, not even realizing how much more elated he was with the aide of alcohol's touch. notes: had to retype this post five times! and maybe next post, bby tags: dinah!, open! words: 2lzy2cnt! |

just talk yourself up [/size] A N D T E A R Y O U R S E L F D O W N - - - - - - - - - - - -The way he moved, the way he spoke, it was just all...amusing. His playfulness was sort of appealing, and she noted as such as she sipped her shirley temple. Unlike him, she was a bit more graceful with her alcoholic drinks. Then again, she was not used to the intoxicating beverage, and she could already feel a buzz from her one drink.
"When you're in the hospital with liver failure, I might make you a card. If you're lucky," She teased, though the sentence seemed familiar, as if she had said it to someone just like him before. She tilted her head to the side, trying to match his face to a name, but since his face was concealed she could not tell who in the world he could be. The way they talked, it was friendly and open, and suddenly Dinah was not so sure it was because they did not know each other.
"But of course, I'm enjoying this conversation waaay too much to let that happen~!"
He seemed like he was enjoying more than the conversation. Dinah chuckled, and downed the rest of her shirley temple. There was no way she could stand the way he carried himself at this point sober. "Well I'm glad you don't think I'm a bore," She smiled, and put the glass on the table. The bartender quickly snatched it, and asked her if she wanted another. Dinah rested an elbow on the counter, "Sure, I suppose. Something fruity, though." The last thing she wanted was pure alcohol burning her throat.
"I never agreed to be your designated driver," She stuck her tongue out, and then smirked. The bartender returned with a pina colada, and she took the cold drink with both hands. She sipped it through the straw, and tasted the citrus, then the alcohol, "At this rate, I think we'll both be passed out on the dancefloor." She joked, but she would not get herself too hammered. Or at least she would not try to.
A thought came to Dinah's head, "Are we going to be those obnoxious people at these fancy shindigs that get totally and completely drunk off their rump?" with that, she took another sip of her drink.

[atrb=background,http://i1119.photobucket.com/albums/k632/xoSarahlicious/Moments/Sky.jpg] "Perhaps I'll frame it and put it on my fridge," he would joke in a familiar manner as he sipped his drink a bit. The exchange of words should have given him a feeling of deja vu. However, the alcohol in his system sort of clogged his ability recognize such things. Shaking his glass a bit so that the ice could settle, he would bring his body up to glance at his company. Yeah, he could handle his liquor. He wasn't afraid of falling off his seat. He merely leaned back on the counter because it was so comfortable. Holding off on his drink for a bit, he decided to leave himself buzzed instead of plastered. It was the appropriate thing to do, right? "Not a bore? I just figured you were cute enough to party with~," came an unnecessary response, but he wasn't being serious at all. After all, just how much outer value could he observe with the mask obscuring his vision of her visage. "Nah, just kidding! You're interesting. Not a bad conversationalist, either." he would smile, allowing himself to take another sip from his drink after pushing out a word like conversationalist. It didn't even have that slurred lisp most would expect. Even though someone wouldn't expect one to ponder things while clearly buzzed, he couldn't help but read in to her comment. "Speakin' of such, when does this party end? And are there any hot waitresses to drag me to my room if I pass out?" he would question aloud, though to himself. With another mental shrug, he would glance back at the girl with a bit of a smirk. Her suggestion seemed reckless, and like an insane thing to do. Obviously she was joking and neither should have considered it a serious plan. "Sounds like a plan, as long as you don't try anything funny with me!" he would quickly reply, chugging the rest of his drink before Dinah could slip in any form of "I wasn't serious." Perhaps he was more buzzed than we thought. "Wooh, now I know the party started. I got that double vision~!" notes: nah, circumstances forced me to leave my laptop and come back forced to restart. ~_~ tags: dinah!, open! words: 2lzy2cnt! |

just talk yourself up [/size] A N D T E A R Y O U R S E L F D O W N - - - - - - - - - - - -The song had changed to some sappy slow dance song on piano, and the couples were rushing to the dance floor to mingle and have the excuse to touch each other all over. The night was still quite young, it was not morning yet, and the ball seemed like it would never end, but how long could these people charade around in masks and pretend to be something they weren't?
However, by the bar, things were pretty lively. Dinah and her new friend were not the only ones. There was a portly man talking up the bartender, and a couple lonely girls glancing their way. Dinah had almost forgotten that they were not alone, and as her eyes met hers they turned away. Though, she had barely realized he was speaking to her until he complimented her.
"What...?" She asked. Her cheeks turned a faint pink color, but then the sudden realization that he was a guy who was getting drunk off his ass, "Oh." She said, out of habit than anything, "You're not so bad yourself, I wonder what you're like after some more booze." She laughed gently, and took a sip of her own pina colada.
"Speakin' of such, when does this party end? And are there any hot waitresses to drag me to my room if I pass out?"
Dinah could only shrug. When did this all end, and what will happen when it does? Does she just return to her room like a good little girl, and sleep off whatever alcohol was in her body? That seemed...boring. She glanced over to the girls who had been looking their way, and they suddenly averted their gaze, whispering to each other.
"I don't know if there are any sexy waitresses, Dinah began, chuckling, "But those chicks over there have been checking you out for a while." She nodded over in their direction, "If you were worried about anyone doing anything funny, you better be warned, I'm a pretty bad girl." She chuckled her breath, obviously kidding. Honestly, if he passed out, she would probably just leave.
"Wooh, now I know the party started. I got that double vision~!"
Dinah laughed to herself, shaking her head, "Okay, okay, I think you've had enough to drink." She said, though completely ruining her credibility as she downed the rest of her pina colada. Hey, it tasted good! She heard the obnoxious giggles of the couple girls, and playfully rolled her eyes, "Okay, those girls are obviously into you. Go talk to them or something." She winked. It was not like they were on some sort of date, and honestly, the girls were annoying.

[atrb=background,http://i1119.photobucket.com/albums/k632/xoSarahlicious/Moments/Sky.jpg] "Meeeh," replied Shinji in a tone of indifference once Dinah mentioned the presence of the other girls. It wasn't like he was a wallflower or anything, as he would probably break into his natural flirting antics any other day. However, that night, he felt comfortable just where he was. He felt no need to mess up the moment, even if talking the one of the other girls could've reaped much better rewards than what he could expect from Dinah. Still, he found her company much more pleasant. The other girls probably lacked all the things that made this little false date so entertaining and captivating. Even if they did, he was too lazy to break away from comfortable conversation and waste energy engaging another. "I bet you are, wonder girl. Badder than any girl I know," responded the buzzed youth to her joke. One could tell that he could tell it was facetious banter, even if he was drunk enough to see double. Okay, he was exaggerating. Of course he wasn't too drunk yet after three drinks. He was probably still capable of actually dancing. Taking notice to the change in music, he wouldn't have made a comment. After all, it wasn't like it was terrible. He just wished they had more upbeat rhythms for him to vibe to. Turning back to look at the girls Dinah kept mentioning, Shinji would toss a smile and a slight wave their way before turning back to his current drinking buddy with a shrug. "Eh, they don't look quite as interesting you," he would state bluntly. More so an excuse for him not to have to get up, but it wasn't as if it weren't true in his mind. But a sudden idea hit his mind. "Hey, lean closer. I just had a funny idea!" he would whisper to her with a playful grin on his face, glancing back at the other girls from the side of his eye. He loved his moments of random inspiration. notes: Devious Shinji! fufufu. tags: dinah!, open! words: 2lzy2cnt! |
