Full Name: Sophie Dakota Bishop
Gender: Female
Age: 16 (Birthday is May 5th)
Appearance: Depending on where she’s been hanging around lately, Sophie’s skin could go from fair to tan. However, the Cheyenne region is usually cool in climate, leaving her with a soft, light-peachish complexion. As for her measurements, She’s 5'6 and 133 lbs, giving her just a teensy bit of pudge that shouldn’t even be noticeable. She still worries about it sometimes, however. She’s heard before that the world of coordinators is not for the fat. Her hair is in a neatly styled bob and an undeniable shade of black. Next to the armor, her glasses are just about the most expensive thing she has with her, somewhat large with little horn decorations where the handles meet the frame outlining. Behind the glasses are blueish-gray eyes. She takes time out of her morning to put her make-up on (An unnoticeable bit here and there to clear some things up, mascara, some nice, red lipstick always brings out the best in her face.) and will act pouty if she isn’t able to.
Spring clothing: A simple black tank top with an angry-looking sableye on it, balling up it’s little fist like it’s going to hit you. A white and black scarf with purple edges around the black is loose around her neck. Dark-colored, denim shorts go down to her knees and have a belt in the loops. There’s a shiny belt buckle on the belt, a smiley face with a wicked grin, missing teeth for who knows what reason. On her hands there are fingerless biker gloves, though she doesn’t ride a motorcycle and would be just a little afraid to try. There are little fake pearl earrings in her ears and cute little boots on her feet with silvery rhinestones. Sometimes if the day is very sunny, she’ll put on her contacts and slap on a large pair of sunglasses.
Summer clothing : A black tank top with an enraged sableye on it. It’s got it’s itty bitty clawed hand ready to knock somebody out. Denim pants that aren’t quite black and aren’t quite dark blue stop in the middle of her legs, and a belt is fastened not-too-tightly in order to assure that they’re held up. A shiny belt buckle features the design of what’s certainly a human skull. It has a friendly look on, however, so I wouldn’t worry about it. Various bracelets in various designs droop on her wrists. To plug up the piercings in her ears, there’s a tiny hanging earring designed to look like a boombox and another to look like a musical note. Whether they’re part of the same set or she mixed them together is anybody’s guess. To keep her feet clean and safe from the wear of travel, she has some stylish sandals that show off her surprisingly neat, polished toenails. If the sun gets in her eyes, she can always just put on some big sunglasses.
Fall clothing: To start off, a sleeveless shirt that has large navy blue and white stripes. Over that is a leather jacket with a big, colorful patch on the back. The patch shows a zubat (Which is actually quite cute) and the words “Man-eater” on it. If the day is too cold then she can zip the jacket up, if the day is too hot then she can just take it off. For the pants, she wears some jeans with a belt. No belt buckle for whatever reason. She wears the same boots as she does in the spring, short boots decorated with some shiny-looking rhinestones.
Winter clothing: A comfy grey turtleneck and a leather jacket. On the back, there’s a patch with a lovely little zubat and the words “Man-Eater” in bright print. Combine with pink long-john pants with friendly-looking mareeps, jeans, and dark-colored hiking boots, and you have quite the comfy combo. Sometimes on the colder days she wears her scarf and possibly a pair of gloves along with it. Since she wears so much clothing in these months, she has little time for accessories or jewelry, but every once in a while she pokes some earrings into her ears or puts one of her fairly cheap rings on.
Contest clothing
Average contesting outfit - A strapless gray shirt with black decorations, depicting wavy sorts of flowers and one or two detailed skulls here and there. Her pants are black with what appears to be brass additions to the outlining of the pockets and a design on the back ones. They were actually little broken-off pieces of mirror frame that she had found at a yard sale, easy to put on with some DIY magic. You wouldn’t even be able to tell unless you really looked up close. A pair of platform shoes with spiky-looking studs look a little uncomfortable on her feet, but she’s gotten used to them by now, and can strut fairly easily in them. On her hands are fingerless leather gloves that look like they need to be tied on the side. How she accessories depends on her mood. As for make-up, she really puts an effort forth with this. Fun fact, did you know that with some small touch-ups in make-up, you can make yourself look more fearsome? An example is a five-o-clock shadow in men. As for her, she tries to touch herself up to look a little more haughty and vain. Sometimes but rarely can she wear her fake “Claws” for this outfit.
Costume Armor - Is it a costume? Well it's made out of material that armor is usually made out of, so it can't be. Is it armor? Well it wouldn't be too useful unless your belly and legs were immune to attacks, so that couldn't be either. Oh well, I guess we'll just call it costume armor. Ah costume armor. The more conservative, less honest sister of the chainmail bikini. It's clearly expensive and reeks of a parent's shame, but it promises to make you stand out among the non-armor-wearing coordinators.
We’ll go from the head down. First off, it comes with a helmet. The helmet is generally plain, almost covering her bob and with a ridge in the middle in order to protect her nose. It has two fierce-looking pinser horns on it, though a little smaller than actual pinser horns. Arguably, this is the most protective part of the entire outfit. The top part is really just an armor corset top, complete with shoulder pads that have some decorative spikes. Steel gloves come with it, complete with spikes on the knuckles to really pack a punch. (However, they aren’t spiked enough to really draw any blood and Sophie hits like a little baby, so I wouldn’t worry.) The bottom part of it is a piece to cover everything that needs to be covered, complete with a long loin cloth with firey orange and red patterns on it. (The loincloth looks worn and rugged, but don’t be fooled, the armor is fairly new.). Finally, scary-looking boots that go up to the middle of her thighs with heels on the end which seem to say “You don’t think this is ACTUALLY going to be worn into battle, do you?”. When she puts it on, it makes her look like a cheesy villainess, but it was never meant to be serious in the first place. It’s a little heavy, but basically the equivalent of an expensive halloween or LARPing costume.
Tiny make-up kit - If I told you that this was an actual kit, I would be lying to you, and lying would not be very metal of me do to. This is actually a tiny suitcase with various make-ups, face paint (For looking extra scary), sharp fake nails (For looking even scarier, or scratching your back after you've cut your nails), a tube of lip stick (For sticking it to your lips), a very tiny place to put jewelry, and various other products for hair care or hygiene, along with her contacts. You can also keep your snacks in here, isn't that handy?
Background:
Beforehand - Newborn
The relationship of Sophie’s parents started out well enough, then turned into one of those things that simply didn’t work out. Years of what was apparently love and commitment faded out, and push come to shove, Sophie’s father gave up and took off soon after he found out that his girlfriend of 4 years had gotten pregnant. Sophie’s mother was angered and devastated, the fact that she had been left in the dust made her more unsure about having and raising a child more than ever. She considered surrogacy and adoption for a long while. As the months went by, she became warmer to the idea. She started to realize that maybe things weren’t as hopeless as they seemed, and with hard work she could raise a little girl that simply chose a horrible time to come into the world. Sophie was born on a May evening, her first night home she slept in a comfy little makeshift bed in her mother’s bedroom closet.
First year - 4 yrs
While she didn’t have a father around, Sophie did have relatives. Many, many relatives. The neighborhood that she was born in was small, friendly, and the house she grew up in was close to most of the family she had. Her grandparents were often around, as was her aunt and older cousin. There were many times these years that she was without and her mother went through hard times, but being a child, she couldn’t understand the bleak situation that she was in. She was a generally happy chatterbox of a child, who figured her life was perfect as long as plastic swimming pools, television, and toy guns that lit up still existed.
5 yrs - 9 yrs
Sophie started going to school. While she didn’t have the clever wit to become a prankster, by Arceus did she try. It took her a while to understand that putting glue in somebody’s chair wouldn’t really cause them to get stuck, or that putting badly written “Kick me” signs on kindergarten paper and trying to tape them to people’s backs wouldn’t fool anybody. Lucky for her she had trouble-making friends that were more than happy to let her join in their schemes. Her history of friendship in elementary school was filled with ridiculous dares, Lord of the Flies-esque games of pretend in her best friend’s vast back yard, the occasional sleepover, and getting into copious amounts of trouble. The financial situation of her family started to improve, even more so as her mother started to work on taking a few collage courses and allowing Sophie’s aunt or grandmother to watch over her on select days.
10 yrs - 13 yrs
It was at this point that Sophie started to grow into what she was today. Growing a sudden interest in fashion, her mother dragged out her hardly-used sewing machine and started to teach her how to sew her own clothes. (Heavily supervised, of course.). A talent for acting started to shine through, performing in school plays and taking cheap acting lessons. Many of her friends had and were starting on their respective journeys, but Sophie had not. In fact, despite what she’s truly good at coming to light in these years, Sophie didn’t reveal (And really hadn’t decided) what she was going to do with her life. Her mother expressed worry at this. She always figured that her daughter would be the first to want to go have adventures, and the last thing she wanted was for Sophie to end up just like she did. Sophie, however, seemed to be fine, (And at the time was a boyfriend-free girl) so her mother pushed her worries to the back of her mind and decided that she would discover something that she wanted to do in the next few years. She was correct to think so.
14 yrs - Now
Sophie could now sew with little supervision. Provided that someone was with her in the house, she was free to sew as much as she wanted. She never stopped getting better at it, turning to more complicated outfits that with Sophie’s permission, her mother occasionally sold online. She started on her “Rebellious streak”. So she didn’t actually have anything to rebel against, but hey, she started to look the part. Soon after turning fifteen she decided what she wanted to do, become a coordinator! Her mother thought that it was just a phase at first, but was elated to find that Sophie had taken the decision of becoming a coordinator to heart. What she wasn’t as excited about was something that Sophie had her eye on, a suit of costume armor that was the star of a nearby store for costumes and odd accessories. She couldn’t exactly approve of how skimpy it was, but supposed that it could be worse. Besides, Sophie promised that she would save it for only special challenges along her journey and would use her own money to buy it. Sophie indeed did. For a year she honed her skills more than ever and saved up for the armor, her family supporting her as much as a family could bear to when knowing that their little girl would soon become an armor-toting coordinator. Now with a suit of costume armor, ~fabulous~ sewn and bought clothes, soon a pokemon, and a loving family to impress, she sets off on her journey to become the best coordinator that she can possibly be!
Personality: Despite her punk-like exterior, (Not to mention the tough, scary facade that she puts on when she performs) Sophie is a real sweetheart, maybe too much for her own good. She puts a great trust in people from the start and does her best to make sure that people can trust her. Not to mention that she can be helpful. (See an old lady that needs to cross the street? Do not be like a great warrior which has fallen, help her across! See a crying child that has fallen down and harmed itself? Do not ignore their cries of agony and woe, go help them up and heal the wound on their knee with a bandage!). However, the world of coordinators is not a magical one where everyone is always nice. Sometimes she’s unable to tell when people are being mean or picking on her unless they make it blatantly obvious, and it’s fairly easy to trick her. Fool her once and shame on you, fool her twice and shame on her. Once she realizes that you’re being mean or that you’ve swindled her, she’ll keep an eye on you to try and keep it from happening again. She easily holds grudges and can sometimes find it a little hard to forgive.
On the flip side, you’ll hardly regret it once you become a friend. People can find her hard to become close to (Because of looks, ditzy personality, or otherwise) so friends gain a special place in her heart. Once you’re a friend she’ll love you like a big puppy, it’s been rooted into her mind that friends will be perfect/will always stick together/can get through anything with the power of friendship. You might tick her off a little at times, but as long as you aren’t being mean-spirited or malicious with her, it shouldn’t be much of a problem. After all, she cherishes what little that she has. As for pokemon, no matter what kind, she’ll try and make a friend out of it. Dark Pokémon are especially a favorite of hers, the idea of taming something usually seen as evil and cruel into something friendly and gentle makes her giddy. Just like people, not all Pokémon are good, so this can get her into trouble at times.
Even if she seems as if she lacks the charisma to really act, it’s her forte. Everybody needs something to offer in order to be a coordinator, and this is unquestionably hers. Whether she doesn’t see the need to use it to manipulate others or just never considered it is anybody’s guess. Either way, once she steps into the arena, her demeanor suddenly turns tough. Possibly even a little mean. With her armor on she’s practically an evil queen come to life, saucy with a definite hint of cruelty. However, you have to remember who she is underneath the facade. She could never imagine a situation where she would be driven to do something seriously sadistic, this goes triple for contests. There are times when her true nature peeks through the character she’s created for herself and she passes it off as simply being “Cool” or “Honorable”. She doesn’t seem to understand that it freaks people out a little when she’s acting super-friendly and still has the outfits or make-up for participating in contests on.
