Gary Oak
But fame from the other regions left him cautious. He may use the aliases "Ian" or "Logan" to those who don't immediately recognise him, especially around those who he is distrustful of.

Gary Oak. He’s a man with hair to match his surname, and with deep green eyes that blaze like emeralds. This handsome young man is either seen wearing a black polo shirt and standard black trousers or a navy blue sleeved shirt and a pair of blue jeans. On his feet rest a pair of pale brown shoes that are just a hint darker and greener than an Eevee’s fur.
He wears a blue and green necklace that resembles the Ying Yang, but without the two dots in the middle of the thicker parts. Gary is muscular in appearance and slim, making him a fast runner and a generally athletic person, though his speed far outmatches his physical strength. Almost all of the time, you can see a smile on his face, and that’s something he inherited from his grandfather – the famed Professor Oak of Kanto. Often, when he’s out in the field doing some research, he’ll wear a long white lab coat that has a note pad and pen attached to the pocket.
He doesn’t appear to have a bag on him, but upon closer inspection, he has a pouch around his waist which is hidden by his shirt. This keeps all essential items inside of it, and it’d just big enough to fit a few items and his lab coat inside!
Synopsis: Tends to wear semi-dark to dark clothing, has deep brown (russet) coloured hair and has brown boots on. Height 6'4, generally dark clothing, young, oak brown hair and green irises.
H I S T O R Y
It was well known at the time that Gary Oak had a very immature, provocative personality in his youth. Something that got him into trouble quite often as a small child, but something he seemed to grow out of quickly. Some aspects of that are known to appear even now, but not very commonly. Gary was born in the Kanto Region in Pallet Town, like his first rival, Ash.
His father seemed to vanish quite early in his child hood, leaving him to be raised by his Grandfather, the world renowned Professor Oak. Often, when he was left alone in the lab while he Grandfather went to do research, he was left with an adorable young Eevee which he played with almost all of the time! And then, when he was seven years of age, he was taken out with his Grandfather to do some research on the field.
Soon, he was walking around with the Eevee at his side, exploring and taking notes on the behavioural patterns of various Pokémon. It only took five years before the Pokémon Researcher was old enough to begin his own Pokémon journey, a few years older than his rival. Though he wanted to take the Eevee with him his Grandfather was concerned that it was too hard to train for him on his own, so he took a Squirtle as well. He was also there to witness his rival, Ash, get his first Pokémon. The Eevee was quite unusual though; rather than having the normal jet-hued irises, it had deep bluish ones.
Throughout his journey he faced many dangers, each of which he'd like to think he learned from. With difficulty because of his own overconfidence, he defeated the first gym. He figured that because he had the type advantage that he'd immediately overwhelm his opponent - not the case, and he learned that the hard way. He learned a valuable lesson that in order to learn more about Pokemon, he needed to learn more about himself, so he went into "hiding".
It took a few days but after he'd trained up enough with his Pokémon he went back and challenged the first gym again. This time, he emerged with a badge, and his ego multiplied tenfold. This caused a lot of problems, especially when he came across other trainers and defeated them as well, because his arrogance was causing too much tension between his team. Again, he shot through to the next route and ended up losing bitterly time and time again, causing a massive rift between himself and his Eevee. Gary wasn't sure what was wrong though, and took to forehead brooding.
Then, one battle, his Pokémon refused to listen to him. He was gobsmacked, but needless to say it knocked some sense into his thick skull and deflated his ego. From watching other trainers he realised that it wasn't just about physical power either - or any kind of power. He needed to respect his Pokémon a lot more, and again after a few days he was on his way to regain their trust. In the few months that followed of travelling and challenging gyms, he started to learn from his Pokémon rather than expect himself to know everything. While his Pokémon supported him, he also learned how to support them.
Out of all of the battles though it was losing in the Kanto League that shut him up and taught him the most valuable lesson. Overwhelmed with self denial, he retreated into the mountains and trained himself, helped through by his team and a few good books. He was chagrined and shamed, having lost in front of god knows how many people who knew exactly who he was, and this again annoyed some of his Pokémon. He was also afraid of how his Grandfather had taken his loss. They thought he was being selfish - they'd lost just as much, if not more, and so the whole rift grew wider again. It settled when he mustered enough courage to call Professor Oak a few months later, and find out that his Grandfather wasn't actually mad at him. But still, his confidence was shot and rather than continue on his path as a trainer, he started becoming a full time researcher and trainer.
Hoping to rebuild it, he moved onto Johto. The Orange Islands. Then Hoenn, then Sinnoh, until he finally managed to shove out most of the problems. When the next "make up session" came along he decided it was time he moved on, and since his team had been through so much with him, he decided to try again. He sent his Pokémon back to his Grandfather for safe keeping, flew to the port on the back of his Pidgeot, sent that back to his Grandfather and then boarded the ship. He was heading to the Cheyenne region. Let's just hope that with his sense of direction when it comes to walking around cities and towns, he won't get lost...
Again.

Gary at first appearance might come across as a bit snarky and arrogant, and believe me he was a lot worse as a child, before he challenged the Kanto league. After his defeat there he quickly snapped out of most of it and grew more mature, though it habitually bites the surface and explodes from his mouth before he can stop it. Being an experienced trainer, he knows the type advantages and disadvantages – knows the weaknesses of most Pokémon and what they can do to overcome them. He also knows the habitats and is very intelligent when it comes to grooming, medicine and nature. However his knowledge lacks when it comes to Unova Pokémon and that irks him a bit, especially when other people flaunt that fact. He also doesn't really know how to travel with others or to be around them since he's on his own a lot, so his expectations of others are generally too high. He cannot communicate with people like he can with Pokemon, using a harder and more authoritative tone to other humans while he has a softer one and sympathetic for Pokémon.
He's extremely claustrophobic so tends to stay away from really small places. This was spawned from an accident he was in on his travels where a cave in nearly buried him alive. He was trapped for a few days before he was found because his Pokeballs had rolled away from him in the fallthough they might not be the only balls that did lol. While climbing doesn't really bother him, generally being around mountainous regions tends to send him on edge. Being in enclosed spaces makes him prone to snapping at people – something he knows about but cannot control. Rashly, he's overly self confident from his experiences. Where challenged to a battle his arrogance will most likely shine through, followed with extreme embarrassment, annoyance and shame if he's defeated. Then some intense forehead brooding, a "I'll do better next time" pose, motivational speech and then next failure to be learned from.
Being a Pokémon Researcher just like his father, he's seen many things in the world... Well, most things anyway. Brave, at times fearless, fiercely loyal and a dare devil, he pushes through any challenge and does what he can to learn from them. However he is also somewhat of a recluse. He also doesn't take too well to authority so when confronted about something he gets quite aggressive, albeit respectful to those who earn his trust.
He likes to come across as a bit of a joker or a witty youth and frequently makes some strange remark about things. A mister know-it-all. At the same time he knows when to stop in the end. A keen philosopher, he can be a bit soft and somewhat of a bookworm. He does hold some mixed religious aspects but they are very mild and easily swayed, as though he perhaps isn't entirely convinced about some things. On the other hand he's not one to go about trying to get others to “convert” and his generosity will almost always outweigh his own needs and wants.
Family? He adores his grandfather and frequently calls him or keeps a diary in his bag to refer to later, both for research and for sanctuary. He also keeps a list of what his grandfather calls him and has it out when he calls him. One thing that he finds very annoying is his grandfather's habit of forgetting his name and calling him things that are almost insanely strange, insulting or downright weird. The most recent one was probably “slamfuck” and then “wangchain” at the end. Notably this had let to many awkward moments or half-hearted arguments. Why does Professor Oak do this?
Let's just say many people implant strange ideas into his head.

A trainer but also a researcher. Constantly has his name mixed up with something completely stupid by his grandfather. Yes, like "Douche" (which is probably the most common). Therefore anyone that RPs with him can always mistake him for someone else and insult him.
Experienced trainer - having reached the Kanto league, but inevitably lost. Doesn't know much about Unova Pokémon which is why he is currently in Cheyenne Region.
He can understand Pokespeech but cannot really understand Unova Pokémon when they talk to him. Therefore he relies on his own Pokémon translating, but mostly he can read their expressions and try to figure out for himself what the problem is (if there is one)
I know I put "- Being called dumb names by Professor Oak" in both Hates and Likes. It was on purpose. xD
