Full Name: Abi Orichalcum
Gender: Female
Age: 20 (18th February)
Appearance:
Standing at around 5ft 6 Abi manages to seem imposing regardless of the height of those around her. When she wants she makes her presence well known, she can be quite intimidating with her staring grey eyes. But for the most part her simple attire and quiet but purposeful stride let her rome unnoticed by those she has no inclination to speak with.
However, if she is not consciously hiding them, her small wings give away the fact that she is not completely human. She is a pidgey pokemorph, the soft brown feathers marking her as an outcast. She hides them much of the time beneath her back pack, which she cut a hole in at the back to allow her wings to slip in comfortably. She is still unaware of what being a pokemorph means and thus has yet to discover any other qualities she may possess.
When she left her family she cut her nut brown hair short for convenience sake while traveling, and though she might not readily admit it, an element of defiance was definitely present. She usually runs her hand through it while thinking to herself.
Her pale skin is soft and smooth but is often tinged with a deep red at her cheeks from blushing.
She tries to hold herself well in company, even when the urge to fade into the background presents itself. On her own she leans more toward looking inconspicuous. Usually seen with her arms crossed and a slight frown she doesn't appear to be very approachable. But this is more of a defense mechanism on her part, she's afraid of attracting too much attention and making a mistake.
Her movements are well placed, though this grace did not come naturally, she had to work on her fluidity. In doing so she thought she would be able to present herself better.
Due to her almost continuous wandering as a teenager her already slim frame became toned with strong muscles. Though she had strength in her body she was not at all masculine, her femininity remained distinctly present in her well formed curves, her angular heart shaped face, high cheekbones and mocking smile.
Background:
Abi was born and raised in the small town of Viridian in the Kanto. She spent her childhood working on her father's farm with the ponyta and other racing pokemon. As a child she was very wild, loving the outdoors and often using it as an escape from people. She would climb trees, swim in rivers and generally just run around the fields all day. It wasn't that she had a great appreciation for the wilderness, it was more that she saw it as a challenge. A challenge that she intended to meet at every available opportunity. She knew if she practiced hard enough that she could be just as good at swimming as the young boys in the hold, just as good at running and even better at hunting wherries. They used to race eachother down the fields and if she didn't win she would push the winner for a rematch. The boys weren't fazed by her constant need to prove herself as they were very much the same, always fighting to be on top, she was accepted as one of them.
The man and woman who had raised her as there own were not her true parents and the moment she found this out she convinced herself that she didn't belong with them anymore. It was when her wings began to grow that this painful discovery was made. To their great sorrow she began traveling soon after that with her ponyta Ori, a fairwell gift from her adopted father, and has since avoided speaking to anyone about her parentage. Abi had felt that she needed to get away, to break out and start again. So she did the only thing that felt right, she took Ori and walked into the wilderness. She was good with pokemon, always had been. She began wondering now if her real father had some talent with these, it comforted her to think that maybe they shared this connection.
She traveled towards the Cheyenne in the hopes of fitting in as she'd heard of other pokemorphs living there. She made money along the way using her skills with pokemon, helping farmers with stubborn miltank and tradesmen with young unruly growlithe. With Cheyenne in sight she hoped to feel more comfortable with herself and make a fighting family with pokemon.
Personality:
Abi is naturally quite a shy and nervous person but through years of practice she has created an external appearance of self confidence and self assurance. She tries very hard to be braver and to that end is very stubborn with herself.
Around people at first she is very quiet, silently trying to understand them without any interaction (she usually feels uncomfortable starting a conversation). But when she feels comfortable enough to relax with someone this is is when her real confidence shines through. It's at times like these that she can express herself more clearly and genuinely, often surprising herself in the process.
Abi is strong willed and stubborn when she believes she's right, even if she'd only be brave enough to tell a few people she trusts exactly what that belief is.
She does, however, have an unfortunate limit of patience for those she sees as beneath her, perhaps because of long periods spent on her own. But she is very conscious of that fault because of her innate ability to discern how others are feeling. She has never held a position of authority, but from her experiences travelling on her own she has grown accustomed to trusting her intuition and therefore not tolerating anyone else's judgment. It's not very particular to any particular kind of person, just those who happen to think differently from her at the time, she starts to look down on them a little. It's one of her major faults.
The years of rearing and handling racing pokemon have strengthened Abi's talent for reading body language fluently. From watching and understanding pokemon she has learned how to watch and understand people. She always tries to be aware of her surroundings, focusing on those in her immediate presence.
This then gives her an advantage to manipulate them, and unfortunately she sometimes does. She has used someone's emotions against them more than once to fuel her own self-indulgent agenda.
But lately she's been trying to curb that emotional blackmail because she has become ashamed of it. She now tries to hide her more ruthless side and use her empathy to connect with people better as she feels much like an outcast and not worthy of companionship.
Before she bonded with Ori she felt like she needed someone to put her trust in because she found it hard to trust herself.
With her ponyta's help she has become much more confident in herself and has succeeded in becoming a kinder person overall. Though this doesn't mean she's averse to taking command or using her strengths for her own advantage occasionally, she has reached a good enough balance in her life now.
