Full Name: Mera Rose Narvati
Gender: Female!
Age: 16, August 11, 1995
Appearance: For her age, Mera is on the shorter side, standing at about 5'3". She is very slight and slender, and has a round, heart-shaped face that gets her mistaken for being 12 all the time. There are constantly dark circles under her large, doe-brown eyes, which she tries to cover up with substantial amounts of make-up. Like any typical teenager, Mera's face is occasionally dotted with stubborn blemishes, which, of course, warrants more make-up to be applied.
Mera wears her hair very long, down past her shoulder blades, and dyes it a dark auburn brown, while streaking the layers on the right side of her face with platinum blonde and pink! Her signature look includes a knit beret cap (pink, of course), which she always pushes to the very back of her head. She also wears denim shorts and an off the shoulders lace shirt, in cream with light pink detailing. She wears a dark, navy blue tank top underneath, and dark blue keds for her shoes.
Background: Mera was born originally in Black City in Unova, but she spent a majority of her youth in Castelia City. She was always sick as a girl and was raised by a bustling team of nannies, since her parents were both major executives in large corporations.
Since Mera was an only child, her parents both decided that she would be better off at a boarding school, with kids her own age. So, she got shipped off to school in Goldenrod City at about age seven. Mera missed her home and her health continued to deteriorate, but that did not stop her from causing all sorts of mayhem. She would frequently slip off late at night and play with any Pokemon that she came across. Her late night escapades went unnoticed for four years until, during a terrible bought of sickness, she passed out and was found on school grounds early in the morning. She was promptly delivered back to her home in Castelia City, at age 11, where she was placed on permanent lock down from the outside world, in order to protect her health.
When Mera returned home, her home life had changed considerably. The corporation that Mera's father had been working for had been shut down by Team Plasma and, once the company went under, her father was never seen again. Mera's mother had gone into considerable shock and quit her job, unable to deal with the stress. As soon as Mera returned home, her mother fired all the nannies and moved Mera and herself back to Black City, where they stayed with relatives. Unfortunately, all this added stress landed Mera in the hospital, where she remained until she was 13.
Mera was terribly lonely in the hospital, even though her mother and relatives came to visit (and spoil!) her often, which was a change from the very "hands off" attitude that her family once adopted. The doctors finally decided that the best thing for Mera was to live her life as a normal child, except perhaps in a cleaner and healthier environment. So, her mother and her packed up and moved off to the edge of Pinwheel Forest. Her mother remarried to a lumberjack type of fellow, and though this was a more peaceful time in Mera's life, she was still unhappy. Mera didn't like the rustic way of life, not to mention that she now lived in considerably poorer conditions. She was used to the glitz and glamour and bustle of cities, not the slow, boring life of the country. Her health did improve, though, but that was about the only good thing in her life. She didn't like her lumberjack of a stepdad (who was sort of a bumbling oaf anyway), and her mother was too high strung and nervous to be of any comfort to her.
Her mother was also extremely paranoid that Team Plasma was still out to get their family, so Mera was still placed under "house arrest", and was not allowed a single friend or Pokemon to play with. One day, though, Mera's stepdad came home with a Pidgey, a rare gift from a special client. After much arguing, Mera was allowed to keep the bird, if and only if it perched outside her window and never came inside the house.
Mera, at first, was a bit disappointed with the small, scraggy bird. She scorned the Pidgey as being too "normal" for her, and had absolutely no interest in it. Over the months, though, the Pidgey still remained on her window and Mera, as much as she would never admit it, didn't want the bird Pokemon to leave. Two years passed and Mera and the Pidgey still remained tentative companions.
When Mera was 15, her stepdad came home from work, excited about news he had heard from a client. He had caught wind of a far away land called "Cheyenne." He thought it would be good for Mera to move away from home, by herself, and start her own adventure, but her mother was completely against the idea. The very proposal actually sent her mother into an extreme fit of anxiety, which soon forced her into the hospital. It took a year of extensive therapy to help Mera's mother recover. Throughout that year, Mera became increasingly closer to her Pidgey (who she named Bukowski), preferring Bukowski's company to that of her stepdad's.
When her mother returned from the hospital on Mera's 16th birthday, Mera was finally granted permission to set off for Cheyenne.
Personality: Mera's seemingly innocent and sweet looks certainly do not reflect who she is. Mera, as a result of her early upbringing, is very spoiled and snobby, and has an unbelievably atrocious sense of superiority. She holds a judgmental eye for anyone that she comes across, and is really only warm towards those that she deems to be of a wealthier social caste. While she does not act straight up rude (most of the time), her bratty streak still shines through her thin veil of compassion. Even though she certainly does not like everyone, she has no problem talking to anyone, even though she will be more rude to some as opposed to others.
She is also very guarded and bitter towards several things in her past, most notably her father's disappearance, her mother's frail mental state, or her family's fall from affluence. She does try to put on her best airs, though, and pretend that nothing is wrong. At the very least, she hardly ever talks about her family, and talks more about her stepdad or various aunts and uncles that she previously stayed with.
Despite her abrasive exterior, Mera still has the capacity to be a typical teenage girl, with wild, volatile emotions and the like. And, though rare, she has been known to have certain soft spots at times, though she will probably never admit any sort of compassion to anyone, unless they are wealthy and she is trying to impress them.
Info: Pre-starter: Pidgey - Male - Nicknamed Bukowski
