Alexander can be physically described as many things, though only one word seems to fit his description with a resounding truth: lean. Given the nature of his transient and mostly impoverished lifestyle. Despite, or perhaps because of, the very same lifestyle, Alexander's bare form is known to be marred by a few deep scars-- each of which has a detailed and, to their wearer, amusing story behind them. Shifting one's glances to his countenance, Alexander has narrow, though barely sharp, features. Within his soft, almond sockets are a pair of cobalt-blue eyes; those deeply hued orbs are known to be in constant motion, sizing up the area immediately about Alexander for opportunity of any sort. Atop his head lies a mop of messy blue-white strands hanging almost to his jaw at its longest It is a rare occasion to see Alexander's hair brushed or touched by product of any sort, though it is even more so to see him without his trademark blue-and-black headgear.
The teen's posture is another matter entirely, however. The method by which he carries himself wildly varies based on his mood and circumstances, though he tries to make it a habit to appear as unassuming as possible; even so, it is obvious to any people-watcher that Alexander does not easily waste steps or movements-- his experience in the world's harsh realities has conditioned him as such.
|-- Persona --|
Using an all-too-traditional means of assessing character, Alexander can aptly be described as "chaotic neutral". In this world, he is out only for himself and his goals(as well as Faye's, since their meeting,) and is willing to do almost whatever it takes to achieve them. He is know to separate people into two distinct categories and behaves differently around each of them; the first subgroup being "those with things Alexander wants", and the latter being "those without things Alexander wants." For the former category, Alex is an incredibly flexible individual and will rapidly change his behavior to meet whatever those persons would find most amiable; around that group, he is known to behave as an entirely different person with values undulating to resonate perfectly with the person in question if that would serve his purposes. The latter group of people has the honor of being exposed to what Alexander would consider his "true" self. With them, he is playfully sarcastic if not a little quiet, and rarely makes requests of them-- but when he does, "no" is in no way an acceptable answer.
At his base, Alexander is a thief and a cynic, albeit one who has a too-healthy taste for any sort of pleasures that the world might toss his way. He is stubborn and headstrong, unwilling to allow himself to lose in any competition to any person; this has been known to get Alexander in heaps of trouble, as he often times does not know when to quit, even if a competition is a fruitless endeavor. Regarding somesuch traits in battle, Alex takes any loss critically upon himself rather than his pokemon-- that is, if he lost, he views it as entirely his own shortcoming rather than his pokemon's. On top of this, Alex is a notorious thief, perhaps even to the point of kleptomania; as a general rule, if Alex sets his eyes upon an item, he pursues it endlessly regardless of legal consequence.
When he befriends an individual, Alex can be considered to be loyal to a fault, and it is for that reason that he likes to keep his friends few and far between. As a general rule, Alexander regards friends as more of a liability than an asset given the fact that he does not believe in betraying those that he places his own trust in, no matter the consequence; he would rather die than divulge what crush a friend had during their elementary years. In this, Alex also would never steal from a person he considers his friend; however, he has no qualms about besting them in battle or competition and promptly reminding them of his superiority, albeit through teasing sarcasm.
Regarding pokemon: Alexander believes that Pokémon are companions rather than pets and should be treated as one would treat any dear friend or loved one. Due to his belief that Pokémon are integral partners and friends to people, Alexander has prevented his avarice from spilling into the realms of pokemon; he would never be caught stealing another's Pokémon.

The tale of Alexander Drake is far from a happy one, though also is it far from a sad one. If anything, it is lonely and may serve as commentary to the tragic ideals of many trainer's natural transience and their habits to pursue the strengthening of their Pokémon in lieu of larger responsibilities.
To begin, Alexander's father is an enigma to the core; nothing is known about him, not even his name. His mother, however, is a talented trainer by the name of Hailee Drake. Alexander was conceived during his mother's travels through Johto during her early twenties and was born into Blackthorn City just after Hailee had challenged the gym leader for her final badge in the Johto Pokémon League. Despite having just delivered a child, Hailee's priorities lay not in establishing her fragment of a family, but rather in continuing her Pokémon League adventures. As soon as she was able, she left young Alexander Drake in the hands of a small orphanage and set again about her journey, never to be seen again. There began the younger Drake's own adventure.
His early life was a peaceful one. Alexander was raised in the capable hands of the orphanage caretakers and was given a sufficient education in both human and pokemon-based affairs. From an early age, Drake's intellect was easily spotted and he was delegated to intensive study rather than the menial chores that other orphans were made to do. From that early age, he was socially isolated. The others resented him for the "ease" of schooling that he was able to do rather than cleaning and cooking; meanwhile, Alexander breezed through his lessons and spent most of his time dreaming of the outside world, his own Pokémon adventure, and who his parents really were.
A handful of months after his twelfth birthday, Alexander found himself incapable of staving off his curiosity any longer and silently escaped his barracks-like room in the middle of one fateful night; he broke into and perused the owner's office. It was there that he discovered his file and the truth of his mother-- it was there that he resolved to become a Pokémon trainer greater than his mother, to seek her out, and to finally defeat her to show her the error of her ways. Using what stealth skills that he possessed, Alexander gathered a number of nonperishable food supplies, a sleeping bag, and a few empty pokeballs before setting out on the journey through Johto that would come to define him.
From the get-go, Drake traveled east, toward the Indigo Plateau, but found himself incredibly lost once he had reached the forest surrounding Mt. Silver. It was here that he met his first pokemon: Sneasel. In his loneliness, Drake became briefly accustomed to being awake during the dark hours and consequently became proficient in night-sight; through this, he was able to observe a number of wild Pokémon performing their nightly routines from a safe distance. Knowing that he did not have a Pokémon of his own with which to battle, Alexander devised a clever net-trap system to bait and catch one of the wild Sneasels-- he would utilize his superior intellect to catch a Sneasel unawares and take advantage of its surprise for an each catch. The reality of the situation, however, turned out to be far different. After establishing his trap, Alexander waited patiently for a Sneasel to take the bird's egg bait; he was rewarded by the quick entrapment of a young Sneasel. However, as he let out a whoop of victory, Alexander became quickly aware of a presence behind him; he spun about to immediately lay eyes upon a Teddiursa. The curious cub was no threat by itself, however, it did happen to come accompanied with the frightening roar of a frenzied Ursaring. Alexander panicked and stumbled backward, away from the source of the roar, but could not escape it-- in little time at all, a large Ursaring loomed over him. It was all he could do to pick himself up and flee, but not before releasing the captive Sneasel to give him a fighting chance at escaping the raging bear-pokemon. Unfortunately for the youth, his 'perfect' trap had relied on positioning against a solid rock face, and in his haste he fled toward that same mountainous barrier; he was then trapped between a very large rock, and a pair of very vicious pokemon-- All Alexander could do was watch, and wait.
After the battle had finished, the Sneasel had fallen unconscious onto the ground while the enraged Ursaring retreated to nurse its wounds. Seeing opportunity, Alexander struck forward and captured the Sneasel within a pokeball. Despite his deception, the youth felt indebted to the valiant pokemon; he set immediately off toward Blackthorne City's Pokémon Center to see Sneasel's wounds healed. Thus began a long and fruitful friendship.
Over the course of the next several years, Alexander traveled slowly westward through Johto and toward Olivine City's infamous harbor. During this time, Alexander and Sneasel(given the nickname "Alia") learned a great deal about the world's harsh reality and had fallen upon stealing from many people to sustain themselves. Truly, they had come to rely only upon one another and thrived in each other's company; they were inseparable. Then? Then came Faye.
Upon arriving in Olivine, Alexander's first objective was to check out the city's renowned lighthouse for any valuables that could be made off with during his flight from the Johto Region. It was there, under the watchful eye of her father, that Drake became acquainted with the sharp-minded beauty named "Faye Marie Ward". Under the guise of a travelling low-level trainer from the Kanto region, Alexander immediately found himself enamored and made every excuse to locate Faye wherever she happened to be in Olivine; on the flipside, Alia held a great disdain for the girl who stole his companion's attentions, and was made constantly aware to the fact that she was(in the eyes of Alia) more air-headed than a domesticated Wobbuffet. For the first time, Alexander entirely disregarded Alia's opinions and solidified his relationship with this absent-minded genius of a young woman, thereby breeding an eternal albeit one-sided rivalry between Alia and Faye.
From there, Alexander managed to seize Faye's interest in foreign lands; together, they boarded a great vessel and set sail toward the Cheyenne region-- there, Alexander hopes to see his dreams realized.
