Alex was excited. She was finally about to move on to the next city to take on her first gym battle! There was only one problem. What was that on the distance? She squinted and immediately, her heart started to pound. "T-team Death!?" Just when she was starting to feel safe, this had to happen! But one trainer in particular stood out to her. Not because of his Giant Shiny Charizard, but because she... knew him. Her heart sank. She recognized this man from Articuno's Vision. "B-blaze!?" She screamed out. This was the man she trusted with her story! He wasn't the nicest guy in the world, but he cared about her feelings! He tried to comfort her while she told him about that terrible experience! Alex felt betrayed. She was terrified, upset, and angry at the same time. Alex refused to turn back. She had to do something about this. Who knows what they could be doing? Confiscating the losing trainer's Pokémon? It was a huge risk, especially for Alex, but it was a risk she would have to take. She immediately started running toward the gate clenching a pokeball in her hand. It was good that her anger was overwhelming her other emotions, otherwise she'd probably be running the other way. The Team Death rampage was quick and they needed to show off what they were made of, even if it was picking on those who were smaller and undeserving of their relentless onslaught. However, Jay was only a poor lackey so he had to listen to the orders and execute them, and if he needed to fight one of the route one newbies, well then he just had too. Jay was on Angela, his Giratina flying through the sky like a black blur looking for the perfect opponent. He was able to read Alex’s thoughts thanks to Artemis’ psychic attack; the both of them were on top of the pseudo-legendary locking in and finding their opponent. Landing with a large thud, Jay returned his large intimidating pokemon and gave the girl one of his crooked smiles. ”Looks like I’m your opponent today. Welcome to the new era, Team Death is the past, present and future. And don’t you forget it.” he didn’t want to scare the girl too much but he wanted her to know that Team Death was serious. They weren’t bad guys completely, but they needed to take Cheyenne out of its slums and turn it into the prestigious region they knew it could be. ”Don’t be afraid. We’re helping, stimulating the region.” explaining to the girl that she shouldn’t be wary of the organization. This process was only used to find potential recruits, ”and if you do good enough. You’ll be welcomed into our little family. Trust me, this seems harsh but we are the avengers of this region.” his words were used to motivate, the name Team Death just was skewed with negative connotations when in fact, they were the saviors that Cheyenne needed.
”Well, let’s get this little shindig on the road, shall we?” Jay said as he laughed before pulling out one of his two pokeballs. ”Let’s go Durk.” he said throwing his pokeball high into the air and appearing on the route was a Shadow Rhyhorn with a limiter around his neck. Usually a powerful beast, Team Death showed compassion by at least giving the opponent’s a fighting chance. ”And who shall you use? Mind you, keep it beautiful. Impress me and I might go easy on you. Durk, show off.” Jay said as the Shadow Rhyhorn nodded as he rolled his neck once and looked at the opponent. The rock pokemon used shadow dance as a flurry of swords appeared above the rhino-like pokemon spinning and raising his attack for show, it wouldn’t actually matter in this part of the battle. The Rhyhorn then used Bulldoze showing off his form by creating the illusion of a Bulldozer and aiming to really scare Alex with his power.

Alex felt purely intimidated as she saw the giant shadow of a Giratina grow larger as the legendary hit the ground with a huge crash. Was she going to have to battle this monster!? She felt a wave of relief when the Legendary beast was called back to its ball. She gazed at the trainer grinning evilly at her. Alex was nervous. These where powerful trainers and she wasn't by any means an experienced trainer. What would happen if she lost? Would her Pokémon be stolen by these crooks!? She just couldn't afford to think like that. Then she heard the man's comment that just filled her with rage. "Stimulating!? You think you're helping!? Who are you to take Pokémon from all those innocent people who need them for their own protection!?" Pokémon have been a sign of defense more than fun for her, recently. Although she really didn't know if anyone else was in a similar position. "You can forget about offering me to join your terrible organization of thieves! I'll be hanging by the neck before I agree to join you!"It wasn't long before a Rhyhorn with odd-looking purple aura surrounding it. He had never seen something like this! Alex quickly grabbed Pearl's pokeball and tossed it out. She might end up losing, but she was going down fighting! "Pearl, this time isn't for fun! We can't afford to lose!" She didn't even want to think about what would happen if she lost. What these cruel brutes would do to them. Pearl gave a quick nod and began to bounce in place. Suddenly, Alex saw the Rhyhorn's Shadow Dance. What was this!? This was like no attack she had ever seen in her life! Did this creature have more attacks like it!? She had no idea what effect this would have on the battle, but she knew that it wouldn't be pretty in a bit. Alex then noticed the Rock type curling up and rolling toward Pearl. "Pearl! Watch out!" She shouted out, but the Spoink did not react fast enough to evade the attack and was flattened into the ground. "Pearl! Are you okay!?" It would take a lot more than this to finish the Pokémon off, but it was clear that this was a strong Pokémon. The pearl on Pearl's head started to glow as she fired a Psywave in the direction of the Rhyhorn. Being a special attack, it deffinitely would do more damage. Pearl was really Alex's only hope for victory against this Rhyhorn. Hopefully things would turn out all right, but that might just be wishful thinking.w ::spoink::

His grasp wasn’t an easy thing to slip out of, he needed her to feel hopeless and all Jay wanted was for this girl to admit her struggles and want to join the exponentially growing Team Death. They had enough resources to completely change Cheyenne, but the manpower was lacking. With a forever-changing region with many new people leaving and returning, their core was powerful but small in numbers. Jay had no idea why he had to take leave from his journey for this little mission, and he didn’t even think it was worth it, but the superiors called it for and although Jay didn’t understand he was very much still loyal to Team Death. Syl, the apparent leader was still somewhat of an idol. An invisible idol that he no longer saw, but without the help of the ginger-haired man, he wouldn’t be half the trainer he was today. Maybe it was possible for Jay to show this young trainer that Team Death wasn’t bad, just misunderstood.
”Who said anything about taking Pokémon? This is what vain, ignorant trainers like you see. We are legion; we don’t steal. We’re showing you the errors in your way. Join Team Death, we can make you shine that much brighter.” It was fun, the way she squeamed with her little Spoink protecting her. ”Not even your deities can protect you from me, darling. Remember the name Jay. It’ll be in your nightmares forever.” he spat his words out like poisonous venom creeping its way into the depths of Alex’s mind. This wouldn’t be something she would forget for the rest of her life. The Spoink began to bounce with a very happy-like trance showing her power in the form of psybeam the psychic powered beam was sent right toward the shadow Pokémon who took it head on. The large brute grunted shaking off the damage that was done, being special damage he did take a good amount of damage but he was still in good enough health to continue the battle.
”Show this Pearl what you’re capable of.” Jay authoritatively said as Durk nodded and slammed his two front feet onto the floor. Like a bull he kicked the dirt under his feet backwards and ran in at full force using Scary Face as he ran toward the Spoink, trying to freak her out a little bit and reduce her speed. As soon as he got close enough, he opened up with a chip away a normal-type attack that ignored the raised stat of defense or evasion and with his horn, Durk used his chip away attack right at the Spoink’s chest hoping that she wouldn’t be able to dodge.

Alex didn't know what to think as soon as she heard this trainer's explanation. Were they really just misunderstood? One word stuck out, however. Nightmares that word alone brought back terrible memories of what she thought she had moved on from. She couldn't sleep for days because of a recurring nightmare about that terrible moment. When she was held at gunpoint as a hostage for a robbery. She could feel the tears forming in her eyes, but she quickly stopped them. She couldn't let herself appear weak in front of these crooks. She had to remain standing. "If you don't take pokemon, then what do you plan to do with me if I lose and refuse to join you!? I can tell you I won't willingly hand over my pokemon!" She knew she had to protect her pokemon if they where to protect her. Especially poor little Shila, an Igglybuff who was easily scared. That pokemon was even too scared to be put inside a pokeball, let alone battle. But still, it was a wonderful, peaceful creature who helped her sleep while she was having trouble with the nightmares. Shila was now clinging on to Alex's leg, like she usually does whenever Alex battles. She never knew why, but it was still adorable. However, the cuteness was easily drowned out by the danger of the situation she was in. Pearl attempted to bounce over the Rhyhorn's chip away. However, her reduced speed prevented her from simply bouncing over the Rhino's head. The Spoink was slammed by Durk's horn. She was knocked back a few feet, but managed to land on her tail. She started to bounce again, sending yet another Psywave from the pearl on the top of her head. The first Psybeam was somewhat of a deterrent as it didn't do much visible damage, but she had to do something, she was Alex's only pokemon who could do something worthwhile. The Spoink began bouncing in place again, this time ready for the Rhyhorn's next attack. ::spoink:: Name: Pearl Gender: Female Level 7.5 Attacks: Splash, Psywave Abilities: Thick Fat/Own Tempo

Jay could tell that she was starting to tear up, ”Listen.” he spoke not trying to convince her anything but to ease her mind with her Pokémon. ”Why would we want your level four Pokémon when we have very strong Pokémon at our arsenal. This is a publicity stunt, to prove to the governments and your professors that we aren’t something to laugh at. We know what we’re doing and we are not stopping until we achieve it all.” his words were the same as a preacher, trying to give others an empty promise on what the outside world looked liked. What (with the help of others) could be the future of Cheyenne.
The psybeam hit for a second time taking an even bigger chunk of Durk’s health. These constant psychic attacks were going to cause Durk’s mental capacity to decrease and not be such a strong battler as someone a bit more human might do instead. ”Use Stomp.” Jay pointed as the Rhyhorn got in as close as he could and tried stomping on the feet of the little girl. ”What are your dreams, girl. What is your name? Tell us.” he asked wondering if she would open up even if a little bit to get Jay an idea of what her ultimate goal was/is. C: |

As much as she hated to admit it, Jay had a point. Why would they want these weaker Pokémon? However, Alex wasn't just talking about newer trainers. "Okay, so you don't want our Pokémon. You still plan to confiscate the Pokémon from trainers who you deem 'unworthy'! Everyone in Cheyenne has the right to be a trainer if they choose! Who are you to take that freedom from them!?" Alex was a very adamant girl. Even if she knew she was wrong, she would argue until she couldn't think of anything else to say. She did know one thing. She didn't want these rebels dictating who gets to keep their Pokémon. "I know you mean to do what's good for Cheyenne, but what you're doing isn't good!" Alex knew these words wouldn't phase anyone, but she just had to get the point out there. She knew she wasn't strong enough to defeat any member of TD yet. She remembered that Giratina. There's no way anything in her party could hold up against something that powerful! For now, she'd just have to worry about training. Pearl managed to spring out of the way of the Rhyhorn's stone front legs just before they slammed into the ground. "Good job Pearl! Now use Future Sight! Alex called out. Pearl gave a swift nod as her pearl and eyes began to glow blue. A small ball of psychic energy appeared in front of her and soon disappeared. Of course, this wouldn't be the last of it. But for now it would do nothing. The Spoink just to wait for it to take effect. How are you going to learn if you defy us and not get taught a lesson.” his words were harsh and manipulative as a cruel smile twisted onto Jay’s face. He would just remember this girl, she needed to learn that her ideas of what Team Death was and what they stood for were two complete misunderstood concepts. ”Durk, Use Swords Dance and Bulldoze.” the words were very concise, as Jay no longer wanted to talk to this girl who just wouldn’t listen to him.
The shadow Rhyhorn unleashed a very strange noise as he used swords dance significantly raising his attack power before going in at the Spoink with his bulldoze imitating the large machinery and rushing in attempting to hurt the psychic pokemon. ”ah, future sight.” jay mumbled as the attack would be something for his pokemon to expect later. ”let’s say we make this interesting, shall we switch to a double battle?” he asked twirling his precious second pokemon on his fingertips. Alex couldn't believe what she was hearing. Did this man really think he was doing a good deed by working for TD? Her thoughts where immediately interrupted by the Rhyhorn's Swords Dance. She recognized this move immediately. She may not have been in many battles herself, but she's seen plenty of professional battles on TV. This was one of the most used moves. Alex knew this next attack wouldn't be pretty. As the Rino started it's attack, she called out to Pearl: "Look out! Dodge it!" However, she could not warn the spoink in time and it was rolled over once again by the bulldoze. "Pearl! Are you alright!? Alex called out. Thankfully, Pearl managed to stand. The Spoink gave a nod to Alex before it started to bounce again. She was getting weaker, but this wasn't going to stop her from fighting. She fired yet another wave of Psychic energy toward the Rhyhorn. Alex heard Jay's offer. "A... d-double battle?" She stuttered slightly. This man must have a strategy to render Pearl's earlier Future Sight useless. Or, perhaps he was getting over confident and decided to give her a "fighting chance". Things already weren't looking well, so she really didn't have much of a choice. "Okay, It's gonna be a double battle!" Alex called out. "Nuvelle! It's your time to shine!" Alex shouted as a Numel formed, standing and spitting steam out of its hump and nostrils. ::numel:: Name: Numel Gender: Male Level 7 Abilities: Oblivious/Simple Attacks: Tackle, Howl, Ember =ready for battle=

A shame your partner is a Numel.” he laughed haughtily he knew he would win and he would taunt the girl, show her what true power looked like. ”Care.” he said as the Rhyhorn was ambushed by the future sight and the psywave both hit. ”Shit.” he said as Durk was showing signs of being weak and fainting soon. ”Okay, Scary Face and Rock Blast. Finish off the foe, Use Water Sport and Bubble.” his words were concise and quick as both of his tiny Pokémon nodded and went forth to attack.
