Full Name: Glacia "Glace" Prisca
Gender: Female
Age: 24
Appearance:
Glace is a relatively small and slim girl, standing at 5'1" and weighing in at 102 lbs. Glace's hair is a silvery-white, and it shimmers in the light. She keeps it long and braided, and wears a dark blue bow in it. Her eyes are a very light brown, almost gray. They shine with the light of intelligence and the fire of determination. Glace's chin is very small and comes to a rounded point, giving her a pixie-like appearance.
Glace wears a yellow cargo jacket over a pair of black overalls and a white shirt. The jacket is filled with various charts and tools for her to use while mining and surveying. When digging, she dons a set of heavy-duty goggles, work gloves, and a headlamp.
Glace has a loud, booming voice. It's not deep, necessarily; it's just very penetrating. She laughs a lot when she talks, and uses her hands as much as her words to speak. She's often dusting herself off from work to talk to people.
Background: Glace was born and raised as the only daughter of an eccentric pair of parents. Her father was a miner who owned his own operation, her mother a fashion model. Glace, who outwardly resembled her mother a great deal, was in fact much more like her father. Even as a young girl, she thrived on going into the mountains and following her father and his team of Excadrill into the mine shafts. She loved the smell of earth, the feeling of discovery when you saw that gleam of ore in the dim light. She was her daddy's girl.
Her mother had other ideas. She wanted her beautiful daughter to follow in her footsteps, never getting her hands dirty, sitting up straight and being just as proper and adorable as you could be, thank you very much. Naturally, that didn't sit well with Glace.
Steadily, as the years went by, Glace and her mother grew apart. Her mother wasn't a very domineering personality; she quietly suffered her daughter's uncouth behaviors. Eventually, Glace refused to even speak to the woman who had always resented her innermost nature.
Glace discovered that, though ores and gems held a certain appeal, she was more drawn to the fragments of relics that she discovered in the course of her work. She began to do independent research on the history of every potsherd or fossil she found, and she became quite literate on the subjects of archaeology and paleontology. She relished her trips to the local library and university, thriving on the discussions she had with the professors about her finds.
After several years of working with her father in the quarry, he asked her what she wanted in life. She said that she wanted to make a real mark on the archaeological world by unearthing something no one else ever had. Her father had nodded sagely, stroking his thick beard. He told her of region that was not too far from where she lived called Cheyenne. There was a place there called the Shasta Ruins; perhaps it held the answers and adventure she sought. However, her father said, Cheyenne was a region well known for its Pokémon Trainers and Coordinators. He made Glace promise him something: if she traveled to Cheyenne, she would compete in the Gym circuit, collecting Pokémon and training them. Glace had always been somewhat of a loner, and her father believed that training Pokémon would be good for her as a person. She agreed unhesitatingly.
However, before she left, she had to finish out the season in the quarry. To help prepare her, her father gave her custody of a baby Drillbur. If she could raise the Drillbur properly until she left, she would be ready to depart. Glace, who had never thought of Pokémon as anything other than assistants, cradled the newborn Drillbur in her arms and marveled at its innocent beauty. She christened it Spade.
Glace and Spade spent many weeks getting to know each other as they worked side by side in the quarry. Glace taught Spade everything she knew about mining and excavating techniques, and in turn he taught Glace how to treat a Pokémon as more than a pet. He taught her how to treat them as friends.
And so the day came when Glace's father presented her with a map and a boat ticket. The map showed the location of a Ranger Station where she could pick up some essential Trainer supplies. He handed her a Poke Ball for Spade, which she clipped to her belt. She hugged her father goodbye, and set off for Cheyenne to seek her fortune.
Personality: Glace is passionate about her work. She spends nearly all her time on digs. When she can't get dig time, she spends it at libraries and universities, seeing what she can track down for her next project. She dislikes cataloging her finds, though, preferring to leave the book work to the aides who work in those institutions. She donates almost all of her findings, except for those particularly rare or beautiful specimens.
When around people, Glace is a boisterous sort of person, unafraid to make her mind heard and her opinion known. She doesn't care whether you like her or are an enemy; if you aren't actively antagonizing her, she'll find a place for you in her conversation. She's very physical when she interacts, often clapping people on the back or grasping them to make a point.
A part of her that people rarely get to see is her interactions with her Pokémon. She treats Pokémon like her children, in a sense. She's very protective of them, but not afraid to let them go out and discover things for themselves. She gently guides them in the right direction and always has their best interests at heart.
Info: Glace's pre-starter is her Drillbur, Spade. Glace will not be taking a randomly generated Pokemon; she will only stop at the Ranger Station to pick up her starter kit.
